15:00 when John found the Shiny Regirock, my brain was like "Check the time, check the time!". As soon as I saw it wasn't close, I know it was going to explode
Gen 5 is my favourite because: 1) Art style: This is objectively some of the best this series has ever looked. The scale at the time was mind boggling, remember walking to Castelia city over Skyarrow bridge? Nothing in any modern game can compare to it. Also, moving sprites! Does no one remember how cool those were? 2) Story: A lot of people complain about this part of the game, but in all honesty WHY? For a pokemon game, this is still the best story you could ask for, and the characters are (for the most part) genuinely well written and intriguing (the caveat of course: this is still a pokemon game). 3) Post game: I mean how could you not like it, especially in Black and White 2 with the PWT and the White Forest/Black City, the Abyssal Ruins, and so much more! 4) Most of the new Pokedex: Seriously, does anyone ACTUALLY complain about garbodor beyond "it's a pile of trash" because guess what, yeah, it is, that's the point! I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about this dex, but for every Vanilluxe you get a Haxorous, for every Simisear you get a Hydreigon, and for every Stunfisk, you get a Volcarona.
Absolutely. I feel like people that complain about the designs just don't get what they were going for. It was made to be Modern, in the story they're researching Klink, which didn't exist 100 years ago. They acknowledged the creation of pokemon coming to be, naturally. Plus playing the sequel with a different starting town, route, gym, it was incredible
I completely agree, but I feel like I’m the only one who absolutely loves hidden grottos. Just going in there and wondering what different and interesting Pokémon you can find is awesome
QOTD: I know it's weird, but Gen 6 (Kalos) is my favorite. It was the first region to really make me love Pokemon. Mega Evolution was and is the coolest mechanic introduced in Pokemon. I know they're way too easy, and with the exception of Lysandre and Prof. Sycamore, all the characters have about as much personality as a brick wall. But it introduced so many cool Pokemon like Noivern, Greninja, Sylveon, Aegislash, Dragalge, and more. My first game was Black version, and while my appreciation for it has grown in recent years, mostly due to nostalgia, I remember it being extremely hard when I was 10. Sure that was mostly my fault because I didn't understand type balancing, stats, etc. I really think that if X and Y got a third version similar to Platinum, they could have been among the best games in the franchise.
It's probably the generation that I have played the most. Even more so if you include Omega Ruby as it's also a Gen 6 game. X and Y also introduced one of my favorite things which was clothing into the franchise. Might seem like a small thing but I loved it so much being able to have so many different outfits I could have my character wear. Although oddly despite being a male I always picked the female avatar as I just found their clothing options to be better. Might be the first game I decide to attempt my first Nuzlock with. Although might go with Platinum or Black just due to the fact that I just beat Y for the 4th time just last month. So might want to play a different game that I haven't played in years for my first Nuzlock.
you I like you I'm a Kalos Baby And EVERY TIME I replay Kalos I have a feeling that I'm a little baby boy playing Pokemon for the first time. (Plus, pretty much every "Vs. blah" theme in the game. They're ALL hits)
@@bluemagma2125 if you play white 2, you can get braviary pretty early instead of using pidove line on Monday, right when you get access to castelia city - route 4. Wish I knew that sooner, also does sigilyph counts as regional bird?
QOTD: gen 7, it was my first pokémon game and really made me fall in love with pokémon. the game is a bit too easy, but i love the environment and story line it has, and midnight lycanroc will forever be one of my favorite pokémon
QOTD: If we're talking strictly mainline then Gen 5 is my favourite but if we include spin offs then Gen 4 is extremly GOATed. Gen 5 are fantastic games all around, great stories, I like a lot of the Pokemon, Fantastic Music and some great side features like Pokestar Studios. However Gen 4 has Pokepark Wii and Explorers of Sky and anything that has those two automatically becomes best gen. Also if anyone is wondering I started with Gen 6 so I have no bias towards Gens 4 or 5 they are just very good
@@thegamerthatnoonewanted2621 That's fair, Gens 3 and 4 have the best Spinoff line up even though I'm not such a huge fan of Colosseum. Haven't played XD yet. I probably will though in a bit as part of my Gen 3 National Dex completion quest.
I know it is a pretty unpopular opinion but my favorite generation is gen 8 because it was my first ever pokemon game and pokemon sword is what really got me into the franchise. I have a unique bond with all of my pokemon on that save and still enjoy playing pokemon sword today. Great vid by the way guys.
Gen 6 is my favourite. I wasn’t allowed to play video games growing up and I always felt really left out of everyone else my age’s collective knowledge and love of Pokémon. Pokémon x was the first video game I ever bought after I had moved out. I know basically everyone hates it, but it holds a really special place in my heart and the easiness of it makes it a great place to start.
Gen 6 due to it being the easiest game I completed and the first, it ended up giving me confidence to go on and play more, and still holds a huge place in my heart, plus the anime was really good
Another Battle Network fan that watches Pokemen7, MandJTV, and Purplecliff?! (Also, my favorite gen is also 6 due to it being fun to play through for me)
I did a speed run of Pokémon X last night with reshiram (I used pkhex) and it was so fun just flying through the game without a care. Also Pokémon Y was my first ever Pokémon game.
My favorite gen is Gen 5 because it’s the first generation I ever played (black and white 2 specifically) and it always brings back good memories playing
Gen 7 is definitely my favourite Gen. It used to be gen 3, because that's when I first got into Pokémon, but it took gen 7 to dethrone it. Why? It has some of the best characters, mostly. It also looks beautiful. I'm a huge fan of the Hawaiian inspiration and all the new Pokémon look amazing. But yeah mostly Guzma in specific. Best and most developed antagonist the games have ever had. A truly deep character with an awesome design and a fantastic arc. Change my mind.
Gen 3 was my first and still definitely my favorite. I've played RSE and FRLG 100s of times and I never get bored of them. I also love to shiny hunt in these games because the sprites look so unique and the pastel colors look really good on shinies.
QOTD: my favorite gen is gen6. I started with Y, and the X/Y anime is probably my favorite. My favorite pokemon (Sylveon) is also a part of the generation. I know the games aren't the most popular, but they will always have a special place in my heart for starting my love of pokemon
My favorite is gen 7, specifically the base sun and moon games and not usum. It introduced some of my favorite pokemon, some of my favorite characters, and my favorite story of all of the mainline pokemon games. There's also beautiful music, interesting locations, and good animations. They may be a little dated, and there's also the meme of the protagonist not showing emotion, but I still like them.(plus the protagonist does show emotion a few times, it's just such a meme that they don't that it goes unnoticed). Also it's the last gen to have megas(lgpe is considered gen 7), so there's also that.
@@Aquax_the_3rd My favorite is Primarina! Not only is it the only fairy type starter(fairy is my favorite type), but it also has the highest special attack of any starter(special attack is my favorite stat, which may seem strange, but not only do I favor magic users in other rpgs, but there are a lot more abilities and moves that nerf physical attack than there are that nerf special attack)
People don’t like Gen 7 because there is a ton of super long cutscenes, but other than that they’re honestly great games. Also bullying Hau is fun. My favorite Gen 7 ‘mon is either Incineroar or Buzzwole. I guess I tend to like humanoid Pokémon.
The moment John mentioned he wanted to go after the shiny Haxorus, I'll admit, I laughed out loud. I distinctly remember the many things you have to do to be able to it to show up because 13 year old me did many of things to get it. Hours and hours wasted because I knew it existed and it had to be triggered, but not knowing how. I finally had to give in and look it up before getting it for myself.
QOTD: Gen 3 hands down because it has the best selection of starters, second best enhanced version (first being platinum), and it was my first generation I played. It also has a lot of good playthrough pokémon to choose from: Gardevoir, Flygon, Altaria, Manectric, Crobat, just a good overall regional pokedex. It also has some of the best legendaries to date including the Regi Trio, The Weather Trio, Deoxys, and the Latis. Case closed
QOTD: Generations 3 and 8 are my favorite. I think Hoenn is such an awesome region, and I started my Pokémon journey in Shield version. (Gen 7 is a close runner-up, because I started watching the Sun and Moon anime before I got shield.)
I like gen 7 the most because of several things, including the concept of trials, z-moves being usable with any Pokemon, and SOS battles. I like the shiny sparkle, Silvally, and ultra necrozma. This generation isn't without drawbacks, however, so I will acknowledge that.
My favourite Gen is Gen 6 because of nostalgia, Gen 4 because Platinum and HGSS are awesome. My favourite Pokémon game is currently New Pokémon Snap (taking the photos and seeing the different behaviors is just SO good!), but it will probably become Legends Arceus when it launches. My favourite Spinoff (that is not NPS) is Poképark 2 purely for nostalgia of watching a gameplay of it as a little kid and Mystery Dungeon DX because the art style is great and the battle/dungeon system is great. My favourite starter is Froakie because Greninja is the best Pokémon of all time.
Gen 4 is my favorite. Physical Special split made things more fun, cool legendaries and some of my favorite Pokémon. Also Platinum and HGSS are two of my favorite Pokémon games by far. My second is probably Gen 3 and then Gen 5
My favourite generation is 3. The Soundtracks are amazing, i love the art style, the pokemon newly added are amazing and the nostalgia you feel when you play them❤️
Question: do you have a tutorial on how you buff your shiny rates? I’ve got the randomizer down but would like to know how you’ve made increased shiny rates from previous vids
QOTD: My favorite is gen 5 since that's what I grew up with but I've grown quite fond of gen 6 as I've recently grinded through it to get the shiny charm in it so that would be like an honorary favorite, or at least a second favorite.
QOTD: Gen 5 no doubt. The work put into it was just insane. The story, the Pokémon, the music… all of it is just amazing. After it my favorite is 7. It just has a special meaning to me
My favorite is Gen 5, mainly BW with the story and Pokémon it was my first game from the core series and third Pokémon game overall. Plus it has my favorite Pokémon, favorite soundtrack and my first crush.
My favorite generation is the fifth. I fell in love with him thanks to the Pokemon black and white series, and then I downloaded an emulator with which I could play Pokemon Black and White. This generation is firmly entrenched in my hearts, however, it seems to me that this is the most clogged game by developers, but I still love it!!!!
You're so lucky, I've been shiny hunting Regirock for 3 weeks now in Shining Pearl, and you find it accidentally 😭 Edit: Oh..... Sorry about the Regirock 😯
My favorite Generation of Pokemon is Gen 6. Earlier games made leveling up really tedious, and later games are full of super long story scenes. X&Y, and ORAS, don't have either of those.
I think overall gen 4 is my favorite mainly cause of how much Time I spent in soul silver and it’s the only game I’ve never restarted. However I think gen 5 games are the best overall but were probably ahead of their time, I remember not liking them as much when they first came out cause it felt kinda sluggish and I didn’t like the blurriness(?) Of the sprites. I think if gen 5 games came out on the 3ds with the gen 6 graphics they would be the undisputed fan favorites.
Gen 7 is nostalgia for me as my first introduction to Pokemon, but gen 5 was my favorite the story and the features were just so good, and the guaranteed shinies that you can get in the sequels are great.
Wow! I kinda feel bad for john even though I was rooting for nick. Imagine encountering an ✨shiny regirock and it explodes💥💣. That's one of the worst things that could ever happen in a playthrough or challenge
My favorite generation is gen 5, I really love all the pokemon and I think the story is beautiful and heartwarming. I know it's not a lot of people's favorites but for me, gen 5 completely captures my love for pokemon. My top 3 gens are 5,4,3.
QOTD: personally gen 6, mainly the gen 3 remakes because of nostalgia being the first games I ever played properly but I liked how mega evolution worked and I thought it was even cooler when I saw gen 3 and there was no mega, primal or delta episode
This happened to me recently: I played randomizer,: my starter was regirock and my rival had sceptile. Of course it destroyed me. I restarted, picked up the last starter (politoed) and went to fight the regirock. So explosion was scary. But i realized politoed had damp so i just laughed and just bubblebeamed it to death.
QOTD: Gen 4. I remember getting a DS Lite and Pokemon Pearl for Christmas when I was 12, and it was the first pokemon game I ever beat. I didn't get another Pokemon game until college, going straight to X, but gen 4 will always hold a dear place in my heart. I must have spent more time in that game than any other game in my life, and now I have Brilliant Diamond and I'm loving it!
John had a flaw with going for the Shiny Haxorus replacement…to get there you need to have seen every Pokémon in the dex, good luck finding them with a randomizer
QOTD: In terms of main games, gen 5 is absolutely my favorite. I have a soft spot for pixel art in Pokemon, and I think gen 5 pixel art is the best. The story is awesome, and the games themselves are made really really well. Plus, I’m just really nostalgic for them since I played then as a kid. In terms of spinoffs, gen 4. Explorers of Sky is one of my favorite games of all time.
Gen 5 is my favorite Gens 3 and 4 feel like home, but gen 5 got me thru some tough times. There was a period when the only thing that could hold my attention was doing egg runs in B2. It made for some fun teams, and gave me a chance to use pokemon I wouldn't have normally found a place for in my parties
QOTD: gen 5. It was my first generation, made me love Pokemon. The story and characters are so great and the region itself is beautiful. I love almost all of the new Pokemon (watchog and patrat suck). The game looked magnificent, and pushed the limits of the DS.
Favorite Gen? Gen 5 easily. It was the first Pokémon generation I had played so it’s extremely nostalgic for me, I love the Pokémon from it, the story is great and so are the characters. Most Pokémon villains just seemed so goofy and dumb, but Ghetsis and his plan was one that seemed extremely real as if it could be something that we witness in our world. Also the games are just fun since there were no battle gimmicks yet so it wasn’t crazy complicated
My favorite Gen is 6. Kalos was my first official game, the first time I’ve fully beaten a Pokémon game, and I love the Pokédex for the Kalos region. Plus some favorite Pokémon from Kalos are Aegislash, Greninja, Talonflame, Trevenant, Dragalge, and Malamar
Gen 4. Platinum is my all time favorite Pokémon game (especially romhacks like Renegade Platinum). Although Gen 5 is a close second thanks to all the great enhancements the game got (like challenge mode) plus the stories.
My favorite gen is gen 5 because of the music story cutscenes sprites pokemon selection in black and white 2 and how the gym leaders actually have like a important role in the story for the protag to progress

QOTD: Generations 3 and 8 are my favorite. I think Hoenn is such an awesome region, and I started my Pokémon journey in Shield version.
(Gen 7 is a close runner-up, because I started watching the Sun and Moon anime before I got shield.)
Who else thinks Jack's never gonna let John forget about the shiny regirock
Yeah but John can counter that by saying that Jack has had more shiny legendaries die.
I like gen 7 the most because of several things, including the concept of trials, z-moves being usable with any Pokemon, and SOS battles. I like the shiny sparkle, Silvally, and ultra necrozma. This generation isn't without drawbacks, however, so I will acknowledge that.
QOTD: Gen 7, very unique because of Kahunas, Z-Moves, and the fact that Ash finally won a championship!
I agree
Rip John he passed of depression after having a shiny legendary explode in front of him and them loses to a shiny ferrothorn the ultimate curse
The Soundtracks are amazing, i love the art style, the pokemon newly added are amazing and the nostalgia you feel when you play them❤️
Always enjoy the barely contained chaos of these videos. And for the QOTD gen 3 all the way.
QOTD: Gen IV, for *sure.*
It's just so sick, my first game was Platinum, and beating Cynthia is such a good feeling.
Purpelcliff
Bottom text
Gen 5
It was my first gen
Good difficulty
Good post game
Good map size
Good starters (gameplay and competitive to a degree)
Good gym design
Good story
QOTD: Gen 5 no doubt. The work put into it was just insane. The story, the Pokémon, the music… all of it is just amazing. After it my favorite is 7. It just has a special meaning to me
My favorite gen is probably gen 5 because it brings back the most memories of any Pokémon game.
My favorite generation is generation 1. The ones in that game can kill anything, with enough strategy.
As a kid, gen 2 remakes really is my favourite. But growing up, gen 5 really grows on me
Minha região de Pokémon favorita é Unova
My favorite is Gen 5, mainly BW with the story and Pokémon it was my first game from the core series and third Pokémon game overall. Plus it has my favorite Pokémon, favorite soundtrack and my first crush.
We need to know what happened to pokemen1-6
"Hey it learns curse" That was gold.
I like gen 7 because it was my first ever Pokémon game and I loved the feeling of using a z move
You're so lucky, I've been shiny hunting Regirock for 3 weeks now in Shining Pearl, and you find it accidentally 😭
Edit: Oh.....
Where are they PokeMEN7? Where are the 1-6 PokeMEN? EXPLAIN YOURSELF.
Regirock using explosion was perfect honestly imo. xD
Really chasing those Unova views, John, aren't you? 👀
QOTD: personally gen 6, mainly the gen 3 remakes because of nostalgia being the first games I ever played properly but I liked how mega evolution worked and I thought it was even cooler when I saw gen 3 and there was no mega, primal or delta episode
As someone who’s hunting regirock myself, this really hurts to watch. RIP John’s happiness.
@@edgymcedgelord5297okay, that’s actually hilarious cause all 3 of those Pokémon have something important to do with me lmao.
My favorite Gen is generation 8 bc though Gen 7 is what got me back in Gen 8(Sw/Sh) is truly fun to me and graphically appealing.
After I certain point my only thought was 'The shiny is going to be ferrothorn. No other option.'
Glad I was right
Man him getting shiny ferothorn was just killer
QOTD: Gen 4. I remember getting a DS Lite and Pokemon Pearl for Christmas when I was 12, and it was the first pokemon game I ever beat. I didn't get another Pokemon game until college, going straight to X, but gen 4 will always hold a dear place in my heart. I must have spent more time in that game than any other game in my life, and now I have Brilliant Diamond and I'm loving it!
*John searching for legendaries*
The legendaries: Aight, we're out
Gen 4 is my favorite. Partially because of nostalgia, partially just because diamond and platinum have just been my favorite pokemon games so far
Gen 5 is my favorite
Gens 3 and 4 feel like home, but gen 5 got me thru some tough times. There was a period when the only thing that could hold my attention was doing egg runs in B2. It made for some fun teams, and gave me a chance to use pokemon I wouldn't have normally found a place for in my parties
QOTD: Gen 5 bc its gen 5 but only b&w 2
Brilliant Diamond is my favorite so far
QOTD: gen 5. It was my first generation, made me love Pokemon. The story and characters are so great and the region itself is beautiful. I love almost all of the new Pokemon (watchog and patrat suck). The game looked magnificent, and pushed the limits of the DS.
That Regirock was one of the luckiest and funniest things ever.. UN UN UN.
"Unfezant, literally the worst bird in all of Pokémon. Am I wrong?"
Ducklett - "Yes"
Favorite Gen? Gen 5 easily. It was the first Pokémon generation I had played so it’s extremely nostalgic for me, I love the Pokémon from it, the story is great and so are the characters. Most Pokémon villains just seemed so goofy and dumb, but Ghetsis and his plan was one that seemed extremely real as if it could be something that we witness in our world. Also the games are just fun since there were no battle gimmicks yet so it wasn’t crazy complicated
15:00 I was literally yelling at the phone: "IT'S GONNA BLOW UP, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING???"
Gen 1 is my favorite. Not because I’m a GeN oNeR!! But because the OG anime was my childhood and the chunky pikachu was amazing
5:26 Edda world reference
My favorite gen is gen 5 because of the music story cutscenes sprites pokemon selection in black and white 2 and how the gym leaders actually have like a important role in the story for the protag to progress
When the Regirock appeared I was shouting "Boom Boom boom Boom.".
