I am a LOOONNNG time TOOL fan! I've always have listened to Alternative Rock, and TOOL is probably the kings of Alternative Rock! I've been a fan since middle school. I'm now in my 40's so 30+ years or so.. I've been to every concert the've done coming to SLC, Utah. They are coming again in late September I believe! I get paid Friday, but already bought them, 2 front row tickets, (I do)n't do GA bcuz of a bad back and can't stand long) so I) have to pay myself back! Lol! 😂
good job on this
"We are not humans having a spiritual experience, rather spirits having a human experience"
Wow this song is killer! As a fairly new tool fan, I haven’t given this a proper listen.. I’m blown away!
Enjoy the journey!
Dive right on in and spiral out. Glad this blew you away, very deep song.
Enjoy the ride. Spiral out, keep going!
Welcome TooL Sister enjoy your Journey with your fresh ears 🤘😊
Welcome! I started out the same way and eventually became a huge fan.
“All this pain is an illusion” into the hardest transition oat 😂 goat band
“All this pain is an illusion” has literally kept me going through some dark stuff. I find myself repeating it almost daily
Know your tools and use them right :)
That and the lyrics from "The Patient" I repeat them when feeling down
We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion.
It "should" be empowering to all humans. So much of what we go through and suffer through is mentality based, but, unfortunately, not everyone is equipped to deal with it.
I say that and when I'm feeling ungrateful there is "a chance to be alive and breathing." Pretty remarkable in and of itself.
This was first song I heard from tool two decades ago and that transition still gives goosebumps every single time like I am listening it for the first time
Do some molly and put lateralus the song on at your peak, and Justin coming in at breakdown will literally make you feel like you’re a celestial being
@@ACarter87 I think it's more of an LSD song, but I don't argue it would be also wonderful doing it like that.
@@vojkanjovanovic7940 I actually were on LSD the first time I ever heard this song, which was also my first time ever hearing Tool. It must be 18 years ago now, damn..
@@vojkanjovanovic7940 bro trust me I’ve listened on both, I had some gooood mollz, my buddy was also rolling n his little brother decide to drive back roads at night n jam out n watchn laugh at us lol 😂
Anyway, I’m no joke having literal finger and hand orgasms just from feeling his civics interior dash n fabric on door, going hard
The breakdown begins and I felt like I was getting sucked up into an alien spaceship and seeing heaven or sumthn, as soon as Justin starts power sliding that groove, I , as a male, literally was experiencing the most amazing body and mind orgasm I cannot put into words
Lysergic will give you some crazy listens, but the amount of absolute insanity euphoria you will feel, will truly change your life
I did it on a nice quiet summer cruise back road and smoke weed night, and was shotgun , but I’m sure it’ll work just as long as your body will feel the bass
Ear buds won’t cut it of course 👌
My first Tool song too! Besides commercial snippets on the radio or something.
I legit can't hear anything from Lateralus without getting goosebumps and a lump in my throat. Just a perfect piece of art.
I’ve been listening to this track for 20 years and it STILL gives me goose bumps!!! There is no band that even comes close to tool for me!!! TOOL as a whole is a masterpiece. In my idiotic self opinion. Another killer video Polo. Keep up the good work brother!!
Same, man! So many goose bumps. Might be my favorite track.
i almost had a tear when the outro played. You can fairly say that this band saved my life. Healed me.
Word💯
@@kaprinos absolutely!! This band has gotten me through every major life event since I was in my early teens. When I’m extra angry - listen to tool.. extra happy - listen to tool.. super sad - listen to tool and so one for every emotion. Hahaha.
I too have been listening to Tool for 20 or so years and their songs STILL sound brand new to me, even though I know a lot of them from memory! There will never be another band like Tool (at least not in my lifetime...and I'm only 38)!
This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality
Embrace this moment, remember
We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion
Aaaah you finally got to this! One of my all time fav songs.
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience... We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
This is THE Tool song for me. Truly transcendent. No words.
Listening to Tool is like looking at a stereogram, at first you might not see it but when it comes into focus it’s magnificent.
Poetic
Damn right 🙏
Maynard's magical voice, Adam matching the magic, and Justin and Danny providing all the wizard fuel that drives this Sonic journey right into your very soul....
Don't forget though that Maynard writes the lyrics and does his thing after Adam, Justin, and Danny create the track based on how it makes him feel. So it's really Maynard matching their energy
@@MaRodney07 it's definitely a beautiful symbiotic relationship
@thomas wallace oh most definitely...4 true masters of their instruments coming together and bringing us beauty
Amen!
All of your comments gave me chills. It’s so good to see people appreciating Tool on the same level. They’re masterful and in my own humble opinion, the very best at their absolutely, incredible craft.
Watching and listening to Polo react to Tool is my favorite thing on the internet right now.
Same!
Word!
Same
I bet if he went down the Taylor Swift rabbit hole. He'd hate Tool!
I'm sorry for you
That groove starting at 8:26 is my all-time favorite rock groove. It just hits SO HARD. Biggest stank-face for that part. Can listen to it a million times and still love it!
couldn’t agree more, unbelievably satisfying to play on guitar
The problem when kerning to Tool is that just about every song they release can be listened to that many times and never get old and there isn't enough time in the day!
I. RAN. TO. WATCH. My fav Tool song(s) ever. Can’t stop the goosebumps! ❤❤❤
Edit: Right In Two next. (My license plate actually says RGHTN2)
I have said Right In Two multiple times. Saw them do it live last March in Pittsburgh...🤯
YES!!
I believe he did that one already. May have to check his catalogue.
yeah Right in Two and Jambi
please yes!!
AHH, YOU FINALLY DID IT!!
Maynard screaming ALIVE!! is when I turn up the volume to max. It's my favorite part. XD
I get so stoked when I see other TOOL fans!!!!!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Been waiting to see what your reaction to this would be. To me it's one of their most important songs. The line "Embrace this moment, remember We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion" can be life changing if you allow it to be.
there is a reason i have the lyrics "All this pain is an illusion" tattooed on me heh.
life changing indeed.
It is. And has been
It's the gift that keeps giving, the whole year 'round!
"Ahhlllliiiiiiivvvee"
Shoot. For better or worse, any dumb ass lyrics can be life changing "if you allow it". Tool makes you actually want to take what they're saying seriously (its what makes them legend tier). And what makes it even more funny is Maynard goes out and straight up says we fans take the words too seriously for there is a lot of humor in the lyrics. Amazing band
I remember my first acid trip. It was when this album came out. I peaked right at this song on the album. Legendary. It’s all about the part at the end.
Yes!! One of my favorite Tool songs. That transition from Parabol to Parabola gets me every time! Love your reactions Polo. Keep up the great work!
I've had so many times where this song makes me ugly cry. I love how I can feel such a range of emotions depending on my mood with their music. Fucking Tool 🐐🐐🐐
This was the right pick. Cause any pick is the right one with tool.
Fact tho 😁
I LOVE this song it gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. I think next reaction should be Right in Two.
Glad you picked this one and glad you played them both together like the yin and yang. They are meant to be played together. What a glorious song.
This has been one of my tool anthems for the past few years. Diagnosed with parkinsons 10 years ago (at 32y/o) and now waiting more than two years for dbs..
Lateralus, the pot, invincible and this song are in heavy rotation. They are my "pump up songs. They have certainly taken on new meaning for me.
Been waiting for you to do this one, it's inspiring tattoos if I can ever sit still long enough ever again!
Low key one album wonder, in my top 7, whole album is like 35 minutes I think and every song is great. You might recognize the top track "Santa Monica" of the album "sparkle and fade" by Everclear. You won't regret it
Glad it gives you strength buddy. 🙏🏼
I was diagnosed with Parkinsons last summer, I'm 73 so that's what you can expect. Discovered Tool a few weeks ago was one of the best things that happened to me. I have listened to rock music since I was 12, starting with the Beatles and the Stones. I have been into Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Radiohead to name a few and I can't understand how I could miss Tool. Well! Never too late. Like you said, they have a huge healing effect.
That transition is gorgeous. Seen this live many times and it never fails to satisfy. The beginning is just brilliant..... then it heats up and gives you a fantastic chorus and multiple rhythm changes that are surprising and entertaining.
my sister's boyfriend Ian Gothian ( RIP) he passed about three years ago. He loved Tool saw them a few times.. He loved there shows the music instrument . this brought back some great memories 💜🖤💜
THIS! This right here is my personal #1 favorite from Tool
One of the greatest compositions of music ever
Yesss he did it! Such an incredible track(s) and EASILY some of Adam’s best work! Get chills every time
I'm so glad you chose the music video version, because it has the most seamless transition between the two songs.
That low humming in the background of Parabol is a Didgeridoo from Australia.
I thought it was Tibetan throat singing lol
I think this is the song that got me into Tool. Just the fact that their intro is the length of your basic pop song blew my mind :D
Life altering song. I really like your channel.
So glad you liked this one. It can be said about a ton of Tool songs, but this song got me through numerous tough points in my life especially struggling with illness. Celebrating the chance to be human is an attitude I hope to take into everything in my life
Same. I have a chronic illness & am in pain every moment I'm alive and breathing.
But this body is holding me, my soul. And it's worth it. Every day is worth it. Wake up & try again. Try a new treatment, try a new medicine, try a new surgery.
This & The Patient are weekly listens for me.
The first video of you reacting to TOOL that I saw, I thought to myself "wait till he hears Parabol/Parabola..."
THE BIGGEST DROP IN HISTORY!! 💪🏽🔥😍
One of the MANY reasons I love this one is the layered, Maynard Backing Vocals.
This is one of the songs that got me into to Tool back when Lateralus came out, using Napster or Limewire... You know the days where you grab whatever you can and hope it's good lol
2001 is probably my favorite year for music. It's when Lateralus came out and also Origin of Symmetry by Muse. Two amazing albums that I still play to death today.
these songs still give me chills at the transition EVERY TIME!! SO happy you did this!
When I hear the ending my body responds like it wants to inhale all the air on the planet… just wow… simply magnificent.
"Be You, Thell Adjust" love it. I feel that more than you know🤟
Love love love this song. One of my favorites
it's another beautifully orchestrated song by TOOL and one of my favorites. it's an awesome groove to go speeding down the highway by
Finally! Watching someone's expression listening to this song for the first time when Parabol becomes Parabola has no price.....
Been a major Tool fan from way back. This track is, in my opinion, the best stuff they have ever put out. Glad to see someone else reacting the same as I did many years ago. Great video.
Polo my man, you GOTS to get yourself to a Tool concert. There is absolutely nothing like hearing this or any of their music live! It's a feeling, an experience that is quite difficult to describe.
This is not only my favorite Tool song, but My favorite song of all time. Thank you!
53 yrs old and been listening to Tool since the beginning. I've never listened to a band where my fav song has changed so many times in 30+ years but for the past couple of years, this one is it. So amazing.
My favorite song of all time ngl. Shit has helped me through some hard ass times
What a banger of a song 🤘 Absolute badassery
ALIIIIIVE!!! This makes my goosebumps turn into watering eyes as physical reaction to this music.
Please do The Patient next!! It’s so underrated on the Lateralus album but is such an inspirational song!
The Patient might be my favorite track they’ve ever done.
The Patient is soo good.
Love your Tool reactions man. I feel like I get to listen to these tracks for the first time all over again just through your facial expressions
Finally!! I’m glad you read the comment section to find this one. The people on patreon were failing by not requesting it.
This song still resonates with me all these years later. I love watching your Tool journey, hope you continue to incorporate APC too 🤘🏻
Goosebumps every time, no matter how many times I've heard it. That outro...
Parabola has been so helpful to me through my anxiety attacks lately i just sing along to it and i feel the anxiety leave my body
The best Tool song is always the one you’re currently listening to.
Thank You! Always one of my favorites! I have been waiting since the beginning of your Tool journey. I am so happy you liked it. I do t usually like videos but I am now compelled.
Some of their best work right here IMHO, im a sucker for Lateralus!!! I cant wait to see you to experience The Patient for the first time
Thank you Polo!!! So happy to see you react to this song. Love your reaction and glad you enjoyed it. Been a Tool fan so nice 92’. I just friggin love watching people get their mind blown away by Tool. Thank you! Please do Jambi or Right in Two soon.
Every day you choose to be here is a day that you do right by and show up for that part of you that has ever been in the deepest pits of despair.
Fucking love Tool.
Justin Chancellor's bass riffs in this are fucking nuts 🔥
I do not feel he gets enough credit when people analyze these songs, I do not think tool would be tool if any of the 4 in the band where replaced, the creative power they all have is incredible
I'm a long time TOOL fan. They are by far my all time favorite band, and I have been blessed to see them live about 10 times. Their shows are less like concerts and more like spiritual experiences. If you ever get the opportunity to see them live, I strongly suggest you do it!
Anyway, I just want to tell you that I truly dig your reactions! It's such a joy to see another fellow human being becoming a TOOL fan. Welcome to the legions baby!
i love how he stops to appreciate each band members' highlights. they all have these really strong points, and he points them out. Great reaction, you transport my brain right back to high school seeing / listening to TOOL for the first time. I experience this again thru your reaction: thank you for the mind-scrambling time travel.
Damn, sharing experiences really is fulfilling AF, haha, keep it up polo : D I'm brand new to your channel, i'm definitely subscribing. i look forward to you reacting to what i consider my formative years. As Joe Dirt would say: Keep on keeping on.
The ending feels like bleeding out. And just letting the light fully consume you. Unreal. Tears me up every time i hear this song
Damn do KNOW how much I love Tool. But every reaction I watch of yours drives it home like it’s new again. Such pure joy. Thank you.
When Maynard holds, a chance to “be.” And holds on the “be…” That is life, man. Hits me in the feels.
I’m just going to say “Undertow” from here on out.
Awesome reaction, thank you bro. That haunting sound in the background of Parabol is an aboriginal digeridoo. Much props for Not stopping mid-transition like soo many reactioners do. 😁🤘 Rock on.
One of my favorite things abot Tool is the fact that they highlight every member in the band, Justin doesnt get enough credit for the sick bass rifts he brings to the table.
TOOL has taken over your consciousness just like it did mine and so many others lol. After i heard them for the first time my taste in music and appreciation for music changed forever!
This album (Lateralus) and this song in particular changed my life. I saw this tour back in the early 00s and it was for real like a spiritual experience. This band - there aren’t many who can hold a candle to them. They are all masters of their craft. Great choice for a song review.
This song became a mantra for me when dealing with a trying time in my life. Tool is still on top for me! No group has done it any better
Watching you appreciate what has to be my favorite song pairing ever, I can't even describe how I feel.
Welcome home Polo.. we're lucky to have you.
When I know a new buddy loves metal but has never listened to Tool, this is the go-to pair of songs prefaced by "close your eyes and open your mind!" ....works every time! Such an awesome band!
Ticks and leaches is a fantastic gem of a song as well. Like all Tool songs. Keep rocking
A couple more outstanding tracks left on the Lateralus album still await... Schism (2002 Grammy award winner for Best Metal Performance) and Reflection, which is the centerpiece of a trio of songs commonly referred to as "The Holy Trinity". Reflection is another vibe kinda song somewhat like Parabol/Parabola so I'm quite certain you'll love it too. Schism was my first TOOL love so I think you'll dig that one too, although the extreme time signature changes is goes through throws off a lot of people who aren't quite ready for it. But you're more than ready!
He hasn’t done The Patient yet! That’s what I’m waiting for! It definitely helped me through a rough patch!
@@jamiestevener1248 That's not one of my particular favorites, but I know a lot of people do really like it. That album just has so much great material on it that some tracks are bound to get overshadowed by others.
There are certain Tool songs that are on a different level. They're not just songs. These are my prayers.
Pre reaction comment: YES!!! So excited!
Post reaction: One (two) of my favorite songs. Just the ominous and suspenseful feeling in Parabol with the gut bust transition to Parabola is amazing. What seals it for me is the "ascension" of the ending. Love your reactions man. #ToolArmy #NightwishArmy #HOG
They played these 2 together in Tulsa OK back in '19 and it was one of the greatest experiences (concert wise) in my life
This and Lateralus are probably my top two Tool songs.
The low end instrument you were wondering about is a didgeridoo, an aboriginal woodwind. I love that they used that.
The centerpiece of the Lateralus project, Hooked me instantly back in the day.
Can easily unlock many many layers if you allow the spiral (parabol) to keep going.
Far out !
Mr. Polo, I subscribed today. We were embraced by this moment ❤
Fun fact, this is actually the first track of the Lateralus album, not The Grudge. When you start the album from the middle and “spiral out” the play order, it plays as a continuous musical experience where each track flows into the next. It’s called “The Holy Gift” arrangement, and the album hits completely different. You can find the Holy Gift by searching youtube for it.
Yet another easter egg delivered by our friends at Tool Inc.
First time I ever heard this song, I replayed it about 10 times.
Not too many songs have been like that for me. (Would) by Alice In Chains was one, and just a few others.
...thanks for doing this one.
I had a hard time getting past the first track on Facelift “We Die Young” when I first bought it. Probably close to 10 times 😆
ruclips.net/video/vSVlqUokBm8/видео.htmlsi=75QnVAMqOvktuNFJ
this song is pure spiritual journey to discovering and celebriting life
Guitar hero was my first intro to this song. It’s had my ❤ ever since. It’s a hold onto your hat kinda song.
Glad you were able to react to this one! Love Parabol and Parabola. Actually had them come on back to back randomly out of all the songs on my phone once. I think that means my 3rd eye is open? 😂
Hope you’ll do Jambi by Tool next!
The instrument in the background is a didgeridoo, an aboriginal Australian instrument.
Tool and The Mars Volta have some of the best transitions in music.
Every time I heard this the goosebumps aren't far behind. Great transition. Great reaction POLO. Thank you for giving Tool a chance dude!!
Sounds even better live. This is my favorite Tool song..tied with all their other songs..fyi
When the song kicks in my heart jumps to 1200 beats per minute! It’s driving power gets you moving!!!! I’ve seen them a few times in concert, they never disappoint!!!
One of my fave Tool tracks... 🔥🔥🤘🤘
I know some people hate the pauses, but I find it hilarious how well you time it to give us all blue balls. Keep up the good work, big fella.
I know right...LOL Several times in his Tool journey he would pause and I would have to pause the video and mentally gather myself up so I could listen to what he had to say. LOL
I appreciate your journey and enthusiasm getting to know tool. It's refreshing to see it through another person's eyes.
I've been waiting for this and I'm so glad you did it. It's hard to pick a favorite Tool song, but this is definitely one of mine. Loving your journey. Keep it up.👏👏
Glad you watched the music video for this one. Adam actually does the animations for their music videos. Before he made the band his full time profession he actually worked on movies.
The guitarist Adam Jones directed this music video. The actor in the second video is an artist known as Tricky. He released a lot of primarily electronic-based music in the late 1990's and early 2000's.
