Thanks for the reaction, been listening to Shrike since it came out but had a slightly different interpretation, love hearing new perspectives. Dinner and Diatribes is a brilliant song and awesome music video. And Work Song just excellent!

Can the man sound more Irish? Well I didn't think so but it turns out the answer is yes! He's singing in Gaelic in parts of the new album!
The first video I have of Hoziers, I remember asking if he was Irish because I heard a slight hint of an accent. Should have started with this one, it would have slapped me across the face 😂
@@markabusireactions lol yeah, some songs it's more subtle and then he'll sing something like The Parting Glass, and he couldn't be more Irish if he tried.
Really insightful comment about the emotions he conveys. Lots of singers are technically great. Hozier has a beautiful voice, but he also sings with such passion & from the heart.
And I would recommend Jackboot Jump or Through Me (The Flood) for a little variety. They have different musical feel from Shrike. Thanks!

In North America, people have become such entitled wimps that they practically "ban or forbid" people to plant thorny plants of any kind. I am a big lover of plants with "personality" so used the support of Shrikes as my excuse to plant my favorite beautiful small tree, the Cockspur Hawthorn.
Shrikes are pretty much extinct in my area so the wimps have already won but most are too uneducated to know.🙄😉😂

It’s an acoustic arrangement of a song that has a totally different feel from the studio version, which was used as an anime ending theme.
And if you’re into that, you may want to find the acoustic version of Puzzle, from Band Maid, which is done with just the lead guitarist and the lead vocalist. Also a very different feel from the studio version.

(P.s. Shrikes are also known as "butcher birds", which hang their prey, often alive, on thornbushes.
I may be wrong, but those lyrics *might* be suggesting that his emotions are impaled on the cruelty of the woman he broke up with, and that he's still deliberately inflicting that cruelty on himself. Or something.)

And you know, you could very well be right. Even though I had the lyrics in front of me, it was still very much a ‘I’ll read this and make a snap judgement right now’ rather than take any real time to sit and analyse it. I don’t mind being wrong, as long as I’m being honest!
