Certainly not a stepper motor - just normal DC motor with brushes. I had problems with changing into low ratio. Cleaned the brushes and it worked a treat.
To get your car into high box for a temp fix if you are stuck put a 12v feed to pin 9 and negative to pin 10 It's a bit fidgety while the motor is in place but this will turn the motor anti clockwise and select high box. Just leave it unplugged and secure the wiring. You still get a message on start up transmission fault but it will drive fine till u get the box changed as long as motor works ok
if the light on the facia is off and the vehicle is in high range, the potentiometer is reading the correct resistance for high range. if the light is flashing and the transfer case is in neutral it is also working. if the vehicle is in low range and the light is on full, it is also working as in all the above cases it is showing exactly what is occuring. if you can power the motor from high to low and from low to high range that is also working. if the switch will move the vehicle in one direction or the other, and the light responds, then i would suggest that the wiring is good. this only leaves the switch which is available from powerful uk part #gcs305-gen for $230.00 as a complete trim panel.
hi, nice video, do you know if i can get hold of a manual for the NV225 transfer box as i am going to strip mine down and replace the chain and input / output bearings and seals or if you have ever stripped one down? cheers
great video, many thanks as I am just getting acquainted with my 2004 l322 v8 ( bmw m62 engine). at 260,000km, I am going thru it bit by bit to ensure its service history is reset and then I can run it on past 500k + km ( easy to do when you live on a big island called Australia!! By the way, where did you get the paper notes shown in the video? Having mastered my LWB RRClassics ( 1993 and 1994), I thought I had down well.... but the L322 is a whole new ball game and your advice is most appreciated. Thanks again for you video. Cheers Charles
Hi - yes i wish i could find the replacement variable resistor part but alas i cannot ! Brushes is just a case of stripping down and cleaning with some fine sand paper.
does the same fault cause the low range light to turn on when you start up? i usually get an intermittent fault light on start up,i.e., the low range light just turns on. i switch it off and restart then it's fine. could it be the resistor or just carbon dust within the stair region. thanks for you advise thus far. i have solved many small issues with your guidance.
+Raymond K Smith Its a bit of a new failure pattern but i can't see it doing any harm giving it a spin up on the work bench to clean the resistor contacts etc Simon
Hi , can you tell me what i need if i replace the Transfer drive case control module that is behind battery of the Range Rover sport 2008 , i try to learning this module and the suspension light turn off but the green light ( low gear ) it not be turn off and i try for many time to turn off but there is no VIN in control . pls how can i solve this problem .
I have wire and aligator clips, do I need to use a lead acid 12v battery? I would like to avoid using my car battery id rather not short it. Would a duracell 12v work or is that not enough amps?
Interesting. There must be a way that the potentiometer can be changed. Its basically a rheostat and i dont see the need to change the whole unit because the "pot" is finished. So you are saying we need to regularly use the motor by changing from high to low?
Hi - i have tried to source the potentiometer but cant find it - they dont sell on its own - i have look everywhere. Yes i suggest using from time to time to keep it working !
nice video this is common problem with rnage rover i contantly get messange TRANSFER CASE NUTRAL HIGH GEAR? WHY YOU DIDIN SHOW CLEAN BRUCHES , AND GET REPELACE PART OF VARIBALE RESSITANT! THAT IS PART SEND MESSAGE LET IN KNOW COMPUTER POSSITION OF MOTOR HIGH OR LOW GEAR?
I have a 08 RRS and after I turn off the vehicle with-in 2-3 seconds a clunk sound or click comes from the transfer box, is this a sign of something failing, no errors or dash lights, transfer box was replaced 4 years ago, fluid is just changed and truck works fine, just wondering what that noise is? Is it the solenoid or what happens in the transfer box when shutting the engine down?
I have the same situation but mine not only makes a clunk after shut off, it also feels as though the diff is locked in turns and creates that clunk on sharp turns. Were you able to figure yours out?
No I never figured it out, my truck still works fine and I don't have a clunk when turning but every time I turn the truck off, the transfer case makes a clunk like it's resetting a gear or something.
Hi - this could be several things 1) the gearbox - try a filter change - i have this video look for discovery 4 gearbox oil change 2) the drivechain - differential / joints 3) Front suspension wishbone joints
I have a question . I have a " TRANSFERBOX NEUTRAL " on my Console and it beeps and flashes , do I need to replace the motor , I have a 2003 Range rover 3.0 D People are telling me its my gear box , I have no issues when driving the car all is fine
Hi - I would take the transfer motor box off - spin it round ( power from a battery etc ) on the bench and put it back on the car. I dont think this is a gearbox problem.
I followed your RUclips video and put the T case motor back on and now I have a truck stuck in lo and it saying transfer case fault And transmission safe code

Thank you very much for the video. It really did help me a bunch. Way better than all data and Mitchell combined
Great - did it fix the problem ?

Thanks for the video! Can you share a picture of the manual with the values and pin numbers?

Is it possible to get that printout of the pins for the motor ??
Hi - i just cleaned and replaced mine - i cant see that recalibration would really be needed.
do you need to recalibrate this after you fit it?
Hi - yes i wish i could find the replacement variable resistor part but alas i cannot !
Brushes is just a case of stripping down and cleaning with some fine sand paper.

How hard is this to get out? I believe I have the same one on my LR3. It’s giving me trouble.
I have wire and aligator clips, do I need to use a lead acid 12v battery? I would like to avoid using my car battery id rather not short it. Would a duracell 12v work or is that not enough amps?
Hi 12v duracell will not be enough - a small motorbike battery would be OK ?

I see it's a very large one.i think every two days I will change from high to low for fun
Even because "the pot" has a Crazy price... (I'm now in this issue unfortunately)

Does anyone know what kind of battery you can test the shifter motor with when it is out of the vehicle
Hi - yes any meter with resistance ( ohms ) - there are some cheap ones on cpc.co.uk if you are UK based.
My 2010 RR SC has a clunk when acceleration hard from stop.it is in under my feet
Hi - this could be several things
1) the gearbox - try a filter change - i have this video look for discovery 4 gearbox oil change
2) the drivechain - differential / joints
3) Front suspension wishbone joints
If it has rear differential locker motor it can also be it. My l322 had similar issues like that
It's normal in those cars, they clunk every now and then.
I have a question . I have a " TRANSFERBOX NEUTRAL " on my Console and it beeps and flashes , do I need to replace the motor , I have a 2003 Range rover 3.0 D

I think so too .. time to try my new spanners :)
thanks -
Hello excuse me, I have the same problem as yours how did you solve it?
Thank you and I apologize for writing, but I do not know English
Lary Falk no need to apologize sir . The land rover community is one that will welcome you in any discussion .
9 years later, I'm here with s 2003 Range Rover Vogue 2.0 Diesel with the same issue! So irritating bonging at me constantly.
I followed your RUclips video and put the T case motor back on and now I have a truck stuck in lo and it saying transfer case fault And transmission safe code
try taking the motor off and rotating it then refit it
powerfulukltd thank you I did it worked
@@kcustomz8438 Great news .... enjoy and stay safe
Music is way too loud, distracting from your POINT! You like it, we don't. Let's just get to the point and go dancing after work !
I agree - its only the early videos i did that had the music....I am up for a dance if you are...

WTF is with the music?
