    It is becoming increasingly more difficult to find reliable real world professional reviews here on RUclips these days. I have waited for you to do this review for so long and it was worth the wait. Hope I dont sound sexist but there are way too many attractive young ladies with zero experience jumping on the band wagon, and relying on tight clothing and partially unzipped jackets to get views.

      I recently read that the 2023 650 twins are receiving some of the updated switch gear and a USB terminal and touring windscreen.
      I have the 2022 interceptor. I would be keen to hear (see) Stuart's review on the windscreen.
      I am also just about sorted on getting the Trip machine Outlaw pannier bag.
      Has anyone figured out how to 'lock' the bag on the bike yet?

    I believe the better brake feel on the rear is because Royal Enfield has upgraded the rear caliper from a single piston to a twin piston floating caliper to compensate for the added momentum.

    • @mekon1256
      @mekon1256 Год назад +2

      2 pot calipers are designed to reduce brake fade not provide more power. I concur that it is the larger disc that has improved things.

    • @jakgt500
      @jakgt500 Год назад +3

      @@mekon1256 maybe but having 2 pistons instead of one also a larger brake pad surface most definitely will improve braking power. Moreover the larger disc that has been used here has already been incorporated in the entire J series line up. It's not new to the brand.

    You are able to convey the character of this motorcycle very well. I get a real feeling for it though I've never been in the saddle. When you look at the bike, it looks solid...well built. It's nice to see a company take pride in what it's building, and giving people something they can afford. They're really doing their homework, and building brand loyalty.

    Tremendous videos , recently tried the Interceptor and SuperMeteor having been away from biking since lockdown , working from home has meant that I wasn’t riding to work. Am now still working from home most of the time. Decided to get myself back on 2 wheels for pleasure more than commuting and the occasional run up to my relatives in Norfolk a trip of about 90 miles. At the age of 58 I didn’t need the power and acceleration of a sports bike , comfort is far more important to me now and I got all that sped demon nonsense out of my system many years ago on my early bikes. Having tried both I have settled for the Super Meteor in Celestial Blue. Now ordered and will be picking up after a honeymoon at the end of May. Thanks again for the tremendous videos, very useful and entertaining.

    Sounds very much like most of the cruisers that I have ridden over the years i.e. comfy, fast enough and not so nimble in town (with the exception of the diminutive Honda Shadow 600, which was an excellent commuter). If I was going back to cruisers, the Super Meteor would be on the list but for my current riding needs, the Scram is everything that I need.

    Great video!! I always know that I can have a great review though this channel. I believe the 6th gear is more for the USA then any thing else. Highway speeds range from 65 to 90 mph and lots of long straight stretches. I own a RE Interceptor with near 19k miles on it and the 6th gear make a big difference for long rides. Lots of people in the USA wanted a bike that had more power to be able to get up to speed faster and most RE are kinda lacking in that department when it comes to highway riding. Anyway just my take on it. Looking forward to seeing this bike is the US soon.

    Love this bike. I sold my Sportster 883 while back and was very disappointed with Harley discontinuing them and replacing with a 15k plastic version. This will take its place. You could get 2 of these for the price of 1 Harley. I am keeping my 2 big Harleys but I am done with buying anymore Harleys and will try one of these. Think it’s awesome bike. Maybe later on RE will make a big bore version with higher compression ratio and higher HP

    I quite like the looks of this Royal Enfield model. It's even got real mudguards which would keep real rain and road dirt off you! RE seem to be the only company doing this. I can only think that it's because of their core customers actually using them as their prime transport and in all weathers. I think they should be compulsory, but then I'm piling on the years.. I'd have the exact same one Stu reviewed (same colour too) but I'd want the seat from the Touring model as the we found the standard seat isn't quite right for a pillion as it slopes back very slightly. The little back rest would also be welcomed by the other half. We spend a good 90% riding two up so her indoor's comfort is really important.

    Hey! I started with a INT 650, it was ok but nothing to get excited about. A year later I traded it for a SM. Stuart your review was excellent and you hit every topic I was interested in. I rode primarily to and. From work, a 20 mile round trip, city riding. The fasted speed I could get was 45 MPH. I finally had a free weekend and was able to ride for almost 3 hours. I experienced the same results as you mentioned, the only difference was at 65 mph. The wind was really hitting my chest, I’m 6’3” so I’m going to get a windshield, when I can afford it.
    I constantly get comments from people praiseing the bike, mostly from car drivers. People frequently confuse it for a Harley, I’m glad it’s not a Harley.
    The only criticism I have is that it’s difficult to get accessories for it. The dealer doesn’t have access to OEM accessories, I’ve ordered from Hitchcocks.
    Thanks for your review of the SM. I’m in Memphis, TN USA.

    As a potential returning rider now the kids are older and we can afford some toys, I’m researching a lot of bikes, with a focus on characterful twins with lots of torque. Mostly for my shift work commute and some sunny weekend rides. I’ve done the fast bike thing with a VFR and a CBR1100XX about 20 years ago and my desires gave aged with me. This Super Meteor is beautiful to look at and when they’re available here in Australia, I’ll be interested. Still haven’t convince my darling wife that spending money on a motorbike is a sane, let alone good idea though. 😬
    Of the many reviews I’ve watched of various bikes, Stuart’s have been the best. Everything he says makes intuitive sense and I’m afraid he’s far too down to Earth and real to be allowed on RUclips. 😁

    Thanks. You more or less covered what I have been wondering about. It is on my shortlist for a new bike and nothing you found out about it has changed that. In fact you more or less confirmed that it may be just right for me. So I need to ride one. For the moment that is a challenge, the network of dealers here in Sweden is still very much under construction and demo bikes are not easy to find. But it will be sorted, sooner or later. A two day trip to the importer with my current bike would be a nice adventure, and soon the weather will be ok for that. Perhaps even 3 days, as that will mean over a thousand km trip but there are worse reasons for trips than testing a potential new bike. Good to compare too, saddle to saddle. Next year is my 50:th anniversary as a licensed motorcyclist so a new bike for that would fit nicely.

      Most Americans couldn't buy a foreign bike & do their test on a Harley Street 500 or now the Chinese made Harley 350HD American Harley Davidson instructors use but not sold in US.They get their Full license in America straight away & do a Harley Davidson course & then buy a big Harley which is dangerous in my opinion.R.E are great bikes but alot of Americans are Harley or nothing,time attitudes change & Super Meteor will help.

      Not too much if compared to power but yeah, styling, handling, comfort are matters that will challenge Harley. Oh did I forget fuel efficiency? Yeah that too is a USP (a real one and not just a marketing gimmick)

    Morning. Just had to make another comment. I find the Scram perfect for country and back road lanes as well as for local town work. The Meteor 650 as per your comments is great on A roads and motorways, and that is what i obtained it for. Comfort on long distance weekend ride outs. More so touring round the South West of England. Absolute perfect for that. Otherwise it is a belter to own.

    After my Harley 883 with 40hp, 5spd, and more weight this bike with ABS would feel like a big step up in performance. The 47 hp is enough for what I want. I want a smaller easier alternative for around town instead of my big heavy Harleys. Plus it’s more than capable of hitting the highway for as long as you want to go. It’s just seems like the best option I have seen in a long time. Love the fact that you can upgrade with factory accessories. I am thinking the touring seats and bar end mirrors are first upgrade and hopefully they will make the short fly screen like on Interceptors for it soon. This bike is going to be a huge success. I bet a tire upgrade to a Dunlop or Michelins would really up the performance. I can see a mid control kit coming although I like the forward controls

    Aye up! Nice review their mate, think I know what you mean when it comes to cruisers, in the last few years I've sold my prized super bike and was looking for a cheap commuter till I worked out what I wanted. I found a really cheap VN900 kawasaki custom 900, I'd always been put off by cruisers because I like to ride bikes not look at them not polish them, not even modify them, just ride them. But once I started riding this odd old configuration of a bike I started to covet the the thing also, my wife was aghast at first, but she's gotten used to me on a cruiser now. I'm not really sure I could say what it is exactly that I like, it doesn't corner quickly by any standard nor does it have much power or torque, but it has adequate power. Keep 'em coming, cheers from down under.

Thank you for another great comprehensive review Stu 👏

    Another great real world review that sticks to the things that you need from a review! To have some negatives, even if only your personal preferences makes all the difference as any bike that gets just praise is dubious. And do I want the walk around and specs yet again ….. what a nice change! Keep up the brilliant work.

    Your comments about RE using their six speed transmission kind of surprised me. It, to me anyway, just makes sense to use the same transmission as they use in the Interceptor. Designing, engineering, and producing a four speed just for their Super Meteor, probably, never even crossed their minds. The bean counters would have squealed like mashed cats.Out here in the "Wild West" an overdrive type top gear is welcome as we, generally, run down the highways in the 70mph and 80mph range. I installed a more road acceptable front sprocket on my old Iron Head Sportser with the four speed, and that really helped it's open road manners. Gear number five in my more "modern" '06 Roadster is a very welcome companion out here. The only six speed bike that I own, '10 Victory King Pin, is really long legged and sixth gear is strictly an overdrive and that bike has the power to really utilize it perfectly. As a matter of fact, I keep the big Victory in fifth on secondary roads as the speed limits here for these are 65mph. Snicking the Victory up into sixth makes it practically impossible to keep the bike under 75 and to avoid the wrath of any oncoming HP. (Highway Patrol) Nice review. Are you a little more accepting of cruisers, now?

    No I'm not sure what was the most useful or best information on here whether it was the description of the wheels or the seat😅. But the 40 mile-an-hour tuning was seriously the best info given and much appreciated.

    Best Specs description ever. One thing I noticie was the suspenions travel: rear/front 101/120mm, better than the Interceptor 89/110mm, very nice for a cruiser

    Great review Stu. You aren't a 'cruiser' fan and yet you carried out a really decent and balanced review here, of a high quality bike, which isn't necessarily your bike type of choice. I still have issues with the clocks on this bike. I would expect the most premium product from Royal Enfield to have twin clocks, with the option of the Tripper navigation aid piggybacked on the rev counter. I'd feel a little short changed that this is not a 'Standard' option, if I was looking to purchase. Not everyone will want the Tripper Navigation but most would appreciate a rev counter I think... Just my view...

    Make a 1200cc version with a bump in comparison ratio and get the HP up to 100HP and high torque. That would really nail it for taking over the Harley market. There’s no way I am paying Harley prices anymore. Have a 2005 Softail Deluxe with 1400 miles on it in mint condition and I am looking at the prices of the new Fatboy compared to what I paid back then. It’s ridiculous. Harley can’t go on long with these prices. RE is going to kill Harley with these bikes and pricing.
