I’ve seen numerous ride/reviews of the Super Meteor and they all are very much like yours. Very good build quality, fit and finish and comfort. Plus it’s a great looking and sounding bike. I think RE have another winner. Thanks for the review. Cheers, Dan. 🏍✌️🇨🇦
I have a super meteor 650 in the interstellar green. I would absolutely agree with everything you said in your review. The gear change is so smooth sometimes that I have to check if I'm actually in the next gear up as it's so quiet. Enjoyed watching your review, keep up the great work 🐣🐰
I went to my local RE dealer this weekend Mark, some angles on the 650 SM and 350 meteor appear a little off... but in the metal... WOW!! stunning .. The 650 looks bang on the money
Hopefully in the coming weeks (or next few months) I'll get my DAS competed and this looks like my first "big" bike. I love RE bikes anyway, and this looks and sounds amazing. Add to this, I have no interest in speed, just the freedom of cruising and touring and this looks a winner. Love those crash bars and the screen too.
Chief, well done videography, the 360° insta camera view was well incorporated into the angles of sight on the ride experience. Very informative to watch & listen to without any useless babbling. 👍❤️🏍️ I'm from AMERICA & 59 YEARS OLD. I do think I'll be getting the 640 super meteor for my first bike. Some options will be needed to "make it mine". Have a great week & weekend to go with it!🇺🇸🦅🏍️ Doug
RE knocked out of the park with this model IMO - looks great and reasonably priced. I can't wait till it's available in my market. Been driving my 125CC scooter for commuting which I won't replace anytime soon, but the RE will be a perfect Sunday cruiser!
Was wondering on your comment about slightly hard rear suspension, I'm not certain but in the video it looks to me you had second from stiffest setting on the shocks ?
I've always been a cruiser type of guy and have had numerous feet forward bikes. This looks really nice and interesting. I hope they do a stealth option with everything blacked out, but, to be fair, it looks like they haven't overdone the chrome anyway. How long did you ride it for? The reason I ask is that very often the first things to hurt on a cruiser are your lower back and shoulders.
Get some training wheels and a 8 foot pink bike flag while your at it 😂 (you might fall over at any moment) if you are set on ruining the lines of this beautiful bike with dorky monstrcities.
We all used to the British style of naked bike, so we call everything with forward pegs and a lower seat a cruiser… Compared to the Interceptor the SuperMeteor gives you a more relaxed riding position, but without compromising your possibilities to go in the twisties and have fun! I love the looks of old British bikes, but I love to sit comfortable and that’s the reason why I own a HD Sportster 1200 Custom and ride it in the twisties like I have stole it…😇 This said I think the SuperMeteor is compared to the Sportster the better bike. The engine has a wider range so you can rev it or pull from the ground as ever you like or need it. The chassis is very well balanced and 60kg less of my Sportster, but the COG is a bit higher and the riding position is a bit more cramped, but not to much to be uncomfortable. The biggest downside for me is the maintenance part with a chain drive and no hydro lifters at the valves… The power is more than adequate and I don’t missed the 20hp stolen compared to the Sportster, but missed a bit this low down torque that gives you this RR feel of effortless power in all circumstances. I still consider trading in my 2004 Sportster, but I‘m ain’t sure…. instagram.com/p/CqAtU2CIbUH/
Hello there i enjoyed your review very informative indeed, very good job.......so Well my dear friend i have an inquiry.....at higher speeds i heard some strong wind noise, please let me know, it was turbulences from the wind shield or from your helmet?it wil be very inlightful if you can define this for me! Cheers
The thing I dislike about feet-first riding is the tendency for the wind to lift my size 11s off the pegs. Lovely bike, but I won't be trading in my Interceptor for one.
I like the looks and the way Royal Enfield is going they just have to get past that 47 horse power limit some how I'm not talking about anything outrageous but something in the mid to upper 50s or the lower 60s horse power should be doable .
Bad mistake. Sportster has hydraulic valve adjustment and belt drive.Easy to change the fluids and filter. RE 650 engine life according to RE is 65,000 miles. I have had my Sportster for 25 years and 400,000 miles on the original engine. 37 back tires and 17 front ones and 3 belts in 25 years. Change all the fluids and filter in 30 minutes in my driveway.
Personally I think there is more to a cruiser than where the pegs are. This looks like most of the Royal Enfield's but with feet forward. Sounds nice and looks ok but not what I would class as a cruiser. Still theres a bike out there for everyone and I hope the owner enjoys it.
Recently obtained my CBT, but no bike yet! I was surprised by how low the mpg is....I always thought that bikes were always cheaper than cars! Is that normal?
They could have given it a better name, could have kept it Meteor 650. Adding "Super" gives the impression that a kid was incharge of the naming. Another contender to this model is the Yamaha XVS650, it has a classic look and feel. Cheers.
That's just RE resurrecting old names in their lineup. Interceptor, Super Meteor, Constellation (rumoured to be a name of the bobber version of this cruiser)
The windshield definitely didn’t make the bike look better. Not to sure about the crash bar. I think I would leave it stock. Looks way better that way. Maybe bar end mirrors and touring 2 piece seat but wind screen and crash guards ruined the looks
Love the looks of this bike ,only thing i don't like is the rear brake master cyl, looks horrible and out of place,it probably needs a custom made one specially made for this type of bike more hidden from view.
Where does the fuel economy figures come from, I had a ST1100 Pan European and I was getting about 50 mph with steady smooth riding and not trying to beat any speed records
Do you guys think Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 looks a bit better, as it's a bit more modern , but still looking cool To me meteor looks nice, but kind of too old looking design lol I'll definitely test ride both and then decide which one to go for
RE needs a Mega-Meteor ... put a supercharger to this 650 twin or upgrade the engine to around 900-1000 cc to get around 80-90HP. It akso needs a little more ground clearance, another disc in front and upgrade the suspension.
I think it depends on the phone. If your phone calculates position by triangulation using cell service then yes, it'll lose position in poor signal areas. But if your phone has an actual GPS sensor then it should work 👍
I agree. I liked the Cx500 too. That was a great engine. It's a customises favourite these days. In fact Enfield have done what Honda did in the 80s. Lol. Still love it though.
False gear did you say? Indicated you'd gone into 6th but you were in neutral? Exactly what happened when I test rode a Super Meteor in my area... Hmm...
Great review. Saw them at the bike show and they look great but close up they look cheap with weld put on with a mastic gun, stickers that will peel off etc. they are great bikes for the price my classic 350 was about 4500 quid and a chirpy thing but does lack that little bit of pull for me so I could easily upgrade to this for the price. Nonetheless, this bike will suit me and my budget and I can live with the minor aesthetic faults I see but not detrimental and I’m sure many other good folk are a fussy old fart like me lol.

Love the paint. Already got a vn900 custom which is awesome, waiting for a re 650 classic or scram to add to the garage
Saw a beautiful vn900 in Lanzarote & very nearly bought it, to ride back, to sunny Southend-on-Sea! Didn’t. Still regret it.

The MPG you quoted was based on US gallons. Using UK gallons, the claimed mpg is 66.9
Thanks for clarifying. I was shocked when I heard 55mpg as that was what I was getting on my Sportster 883cc

Hi, being shipped tomorrow
I've never ridden a cruiser, having your feet out like that would take some getting used to. Nice bike, good review as always.
You'll get used to it in one ride.
A couple clicks on the rear shocks preload would likely relived some of the harshness.
Was wondering on your comment about slightly hard rear suspension, I'm not certain but in the video it looks to me you had second from stiffest setting on the shocks ?

@rob bikebob. I’d rotate those bars way back, get a seat-back rest, and drop a tooth on the drive sprocket to cruise at 80 a la Cali

eBay, from India I believe.
Get some training wheels and a 8 foot pink bike flag while your at it 😂 (you might fall over at any moment) if you are set on ruining the lines of this beautiful bike with dorky monstrcities.
My takeaway from this is that it's a "nice wafter" on smooth roads, but less comfortable on bumpy roads...

Hi, this aftermarket screen did a good job. I accidently left the vent open where the microphone was.
Thanks brother 🙏
Loved the bike on a test ride except the hard suspension and that was on the softest setting.
Love the bike if left alone with out the windshield

That 47HP limit was to qualify as an A2 compliant bike I believe
Their upgradeable if your out of the A2 licencing limit but like the looks, S&S make a Big Bore kit 865cc, Cams etc
I’ve just sold my Harley sportster and put one of these on my shopping list at 71 years old the perfect down size for me 👍
