  • The Chevrolet Corvette and BMW M4 Competition are two of the most premier sports cars on the road today. In this drag race video, Carlos Lago and Kurt Niebuhr from Edmunds take the Chevrolet Corvette and BMW M4 Competition out to the track for a day of drag racing. Watch as our experts push these two sport coupes to the limit as we test 0-60 mph times, braking distances and more. Both the Corvette and M4 have around 500 horsepower and similar weights. Which one is quicker? Find out in this drag race of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette vs. 2021 BMW M4 Competition.
    The Chevrolet Corvette, one of the most recognizable sports cars in the world, is known for its stylish looks and value. For 2020, Chevrolet decided to take the Corvette up a notch by moving to a mid-engine layout. The results are impressive. The new powertrain layout enhances every part of the driving experience. The steering and handling on the Corvette give the driver more confidence in taking the car to its limits. The 2020 Corvette is strong, quick and easy on the eyes. Oh, and it was our pick for Edmunds Top Rated Sports Car for 2021.
    Redesigned for 2021, the BMW M4 Competition is a fast and powerful luxury sport coupe. Producing 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, the M4 Competition can get moving in a hurry. At our test track, it covered the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at 122.7 mph, which is on par with not its usual rival, the Mercedes-AMG C 63. With all that power, you'd expect the cabin to be on the louder side, but noise and vibration are kept to a minimum. Overall, the 2021 M4 is quick and nimble on the track and will give any competitor a run for its money.
    Chevy vs. BMW! Corvette vs. M4! It's a sports car drag race between the Chevrolet Corvette and the BMW M4. Two powerful sport coupes face off to see which one has the fastest 0-60 mph and quarter-mile acceleration. It's the 2020 Chevy Corvette vs. 2021 BMW M4 Competition drag race.

And there’s not many cars available you can buy for 80k that gives that kind of performance, especially naturally aspirated. The M4 is 20k more expensive and turbo, so once the Z06 comes out, it’ll be about in the same price range and have over 600hp. It’ll be more comparable to how the M4 is now. Priced as tested, the M4 is about $20K more than the Corvette. For about $12K more than the M4 a 14 year old base GT-R would annihilate the M4. Goes to show just how advanced the GT-R was at the time of development.

    • @KandiMan
      @KandiMan 2 года назад

      The base GTR is not 14 years old. They've increased power many times. It's a 4 year old car, and the base price is actually over $30,000 more than the BMW M4 Competition MSRP. And that's for a Nissan, with Nissan quality and dealership experience.

    • @KP-xi4bj
      @KP-xi4bj 2 года назад

      @@KandiMan The 2021 base GT-R shares the same chassis, engine and transmission as the 2007 GT-R. Nissan gave it some extra hp and made some refinements over the years but the two are essentially the same.
      BTW, 2021 base GT-R is about $113K vs. the M4's price as tested of $101K. That's a $12K difference. There aren't any options on the base GT-R other than extra charge for special paint or special leather. And the newer tech M4 still cannot match the GT-R's performance. Like I said the GT-R was engineered well ahead of its time.

    • @KandiMan
      @KandiMan 2 года назад +1

      @@KP-xi4bj They gave it 85 extra hp and a whole host of improvements. 2009 and 2021 GTR are not “essentially the same”. I’ve driven the 2009 and the 2017; might as well be different generations.
      A $75k M4 Competition performs the same as this $101k one that has every box ticked. So does a $72,700 M3 Competition, for that matter. That’s incredible value. You make it sound like these cars are just catching up to 2007 GTR performance, which is not true at all. $110k car with 570hp with AWD isn’t that special in 2021.

    • @KP-xi4bj

      @@KandiMan So, you're telling me the 2009 and 2021 GT-Rs are not on the same premium FM chassis, not using the same VR engine and not using the same 6 speed DCT? They're basically the same components just refined over the years. LMFAO
      When a car that has been around 14 years, of course there will be refreshes but not major refreshes such that it is a completely different car.
      A $110K car with 570 hp and AWD that is essentially 14 years old that can still hang with newer sports cars is nothing short of amazing. Maybe, you should watch Savagegeese's review of the 2021 GT-R and I'll let him tell you why the GT-R is still special today.

    • @KandiMan
      @KandiMan 2 года назад

      @@KP-xi4bj The GTR is great, and is a massive achievement by Nissan. Kudos to them. The 2021 car is no longer the performance bargain it once was and saying BMW is just catching up with “14 year old” Nissan technology is not accurate. The real achievement is BMW delivering this kind of performance for so much cheaper than Nissan without compromising on quality, usability, warranty/maintenance, technology, etc. The BMW is the cheap option this time; that’s the incredible thing. GTR is good, but it’s $110k base. This is a $75k base car (still get leather, nav, power everything, CF roof, etc). They’re going to sell a lot of them, something Nissan isn’t exactly doing right now with the GTR.
