What was your 0-60? 0-100? Times in the demon? Just did 6 runs on the street today in my Redeye on drag radials 7.0 seconds flat every run to 100. 75 degrees outside

The fact that a launch control system can be designed so well that it makes a 300+ hp advantage mean nothing still blows my mind.

They didn’t design the demon for street launches, would be much slower on track if they set the launch control torque curve to work on the street
@@outfoxed2006 I think one of the biggest factors is the engine in the rear. That gives it alot more traction on the rear wheels. Because aero dosnt matter from 0. And weight... The heavier the less it should spin. The only possible factors is engine placement, launch control, and tires.

This Dodge (their top model by the way) not fast enough. Its beaten by Corvette's BASE MODEL...THE SLOWEST MORE AFFORDABLE MODEL. Now replace that with the more matched in hp Z06 or ZR1 CORVETTE model even roll on races wouldn't be beaten

The Base C8, is pretty damn impressive for giving up 300+HP! Definitely a much better engineered vehicle. I don’t think the Demon has a chance when the ZO6 debuts. The ZO6 Corvette, will definitely enter the ‘Super Car’ category. Personally I think it’s looks are absolute🔥!!!
So you wanna compare the demon to the new Z06? Why not against the Superstock. That would be a more equal fight = end to end model

@@SoI_Badguy The Demon is a drag-focused tire-shredding straight line speed machine, it cannot and will not turn on a track.
The c8 Z06 is a track-focused corner carver with impress power and speed compared to its light weight. It will likely be unbeatable on the track but on a straight line on a prepped surface even it doesn't stand a chance against the Demon, and the Demon could still give it a hard time if it was simply on a stickier surface, if it had grippier, warmer tires, or had that octane boost. The c8 z06 will have phenomenal grip, however, so it would be close. The proper comparison car would be the ZR1 or the hinted Zora, which are much more suited to straight line go performance should they have the horsepower expected of them.
The demon is a muscle car and the C8 is a sports car… you guys need to chill 😂😂😂
I’m a drag racer and I’m absolutely not going to tell you don’t know how to launch that Demon. It’s simple physics...you can’t put that much HP and TQ to the ground without traction aides ie VHT

I'm not a drag racer and I can tell you I dont think you're a drag racer either.
It's almost like Chevy changed the Corvette to mid-engine for a reason. The 2019 ZR1 was basically the best Chevy could do with FR. You have to either move the engine or drive the front two wheels if they wanted to solve the traction issues.
@WR ZL1 if you're a "drag racer", you'll know the Demon easily wins an actual drag race.
This video is on a dusty runway and therefore is null. I'm the last person to support crappy Dodge products, but this video is pointless.
At a real drag strip:
Demon 1/4 mile = 9.83 sec
C8 Corvette 1/4 mile = 10.95 sec

I got to drive a C8 during the summer. And I have to say it was astonishingly good. It was around a circuit track and the handling is amazing, the power is linear and just awesome. Well done on this one for their first go at a mid engined car they did an amazing job.

Actually yes you can have to much power, Shelby never imagined that 750-850hp cars will be dropping from the factories just 50 years later....in road cars "too much power" happens simply by using tires legal for road use and having a 2WD powertrain front or rear....race cars have much more advanced compounds and can grip even with 2500-5000hp with minimal wheel spin (tuned record land speed cars/top fuel dragsters).
Every SRT Hellcat/Demon has too much HP until you put it on proper racing rubber to unlock its full power potential.

Considering that’s the “base” first attempt rear drive corvette you can’t fault it for the money, and I’m not a corvette guy.

You're not wrong. I respect all manufacturers in their respected projects/wins of ingenuity, art, and power- however this Corvette is putting closer to 650* until final gear at 495*, but they haven't even broken past the first and BASE model. If the LT4 gets put in here with the supercharger they most likely plan to play its tune with, THAT will be the battle. Both fighting for traction with beastly power

@@blacksheep8432 it does not make 650 hp what are you talking about? Its rear mid engine so it has superior traction. It's dual clutch so it shifts faster. It probably has wider tires but idk. All of those things make a car launch faster.

Also, very likely no one will supercharge a c8, because A. It's already fast off the line, it needs more high end

Obviously this is much different on a prepped drag strip and the demon box but to simulate a street race this suffices pretty well

That Corvette is amazing. The only reason I couldn't spend money on one is that in real life the back of it looks terrible. Not sure what went wrong in the design phase but the proportions seem way off.
Hopefully the next generation looks nicer. The rest of it and the interior look awesome.

The fact that the Vette is even close isn’t necessarily an embarrassment to the Demon (which is awesome) but a huge statement for the Vette. It’s a TRACK CAR. It’s meant to break lap records, not drag race. And we don’t even have a ZO6 yet!
My father has a Z06 and good lord that thing is so fast. Problem with Dodge is they're too heavy. It needs all the HP to get it moving lol I'll take the Vette any day though.

Yeah the Vette's main target is twisties, the fact that it launches as hard as it does is pretty amazing, especially with "only" ~490-495 HP in current form. I actually don't anticipate the Z06 will be massively faster off the line (0-60), but it will have better sustained acceleration, so bigger gains in a roll (or in the straights on a track). All bets are off for a ZR1, however... we really don't have any idea what exactly they're planning yet.

Crazy because I've seen the Dodge demon do under 9 seconds in the quarter mile, whereas I've never seen the Corvette do under 10 seconds.
As much a fan of Dodge that I am... I'd take that C8 in heartbeat (especially considering the difference in cost). Then I'd slap twins on it.

The demon is about 600 dollars more than the c8. This is the lowest lvl vet price compared to the top tier dodge. Zr1 vet is 120,000. The viper is 112.000

La Nouvelle No. The Charger is a 4 door. Even in the 60’s when the Charger was a 2 door, the Mustang, Camaro, and eventually the Challenger were always competitors. The Charger went up against Chevelles, Novas, Torinos.

Well he could of floored it and done a 12.5-12.7 quarter mile with lots of smoke. If you look at Magazines Mid engine and awd cars are just much easier to accelerate. A car could lap 2 seconds faster with an F1 driver but be 3 seconds slower with a good amateur. The Demon is a hothouse flower.
He's wise enough to Dodge a blown engine.
im curious to see a supercharged C8 now that theres kits for it and theres performance kits for the transmission and other things to allow it to handle that maybe do a C8 z51 with that supercharger kit?
