"my whole life ive considered myself quite easy to kill" is the most relatable thing ive ever heard
Man no kidding, huh. Me too 😂
But how can you all even know that?
I first knew when my sibling intentionally scared me & my reaction was to immediately freeze & scream like a girl. 😱
Everything that has happened in my life since then has only confirmed this suspicion.
@@timmiller1 its really just a suspicion lmao
I mean if you dont know any self-defense techniques, arent physically strong, have bad coordination, run slow... then you're easy to kill.
It was really cool of him to make it known to the car that the car didn’t have to do any work that day. It’s like, “Hey car, take a load off, buddy.”
@@MichaelScottChrist
The car is Observant? Interesting.
Communication is key in any relationship, saying "No" to the car was the thing to do.
Lol thats what brought me to the comments 😂 he went outside to tell his car no
@@MichaelScottChrist The car does not roll on Shabbos
Total Sims moment.
This was uploaded yesterday. I can vouch for Joel.
yes indeed the 4 year streak of weekly thursday uploads has never been stronger
I can vouch that Joel most certainly posted this yesterday.
Aren't we yesterday right now?
But what if today was tomorrow
I enjoyed watching this video so much yesterday that I had to rewatch it today
That tiny little attic room is surreal as heck
He showed us what was through the door at one end of it but not the other. I need to know.
Looks like an area of the backrooms
@@timmiller1It was the grudges bedroom would've been rude to barge in guys a little protective over his space.
@@timmiller1 Oh you don't wanna know.
my attic is like the one in this video
we need a wholesome ghost hunting show from joel where he just befriends them and lifts their spirits
That‘s a new genre he invented. Cozy horror movies
Y'all should toke them up. You gotta keep your spirits high!
New parody series incoming
And forgets to work
Lifts their... spirits. Good one
I'm not sure if making friends with a terrifying wriggling mound of hands and feet was worth losing your job over.
Depends on the job, I guess
Dude, think of the social cachet.
Mr grudge has a name >:(
@@aelix56
Oh yeah?? Then what is it?
@@timopper5488The
one thing is for sure and that is Joel did NOT want to drive into town!!! you can really see it in his eyes and in the way he shook his head and mouthed the word 'no' and motioned no with his hands
that comment is just something else man
Ikr?? It was really cool of him to make it known to the car that the car didn’t have to do any work that day. It’s like, “Hey car, take a load off, buddy.”
Maybe that was the seed for the idea to use hands to communicate with The grudge? Also the idea of running away involves feet, which couls have contributed.
Idk but its something to ponder
A fantastic example of subtle non-verbal storytelling by the director, with fantastic execution by Joel (the actor who played Joel).
@@timopper5488 word for word
One of my favorites from you dude. Your laughter at the end is contagious af and was the perfect way to wrap up the the grudgening
Yeah. That was really fun.
At 11:59 pm pacific standard
I love the videos when he's traveling. I know he probably filmed this whole thing in like 20 minutes, but you'd almost get the impression he went to Scotland and never left the AirBnB. 😂
(assuming this was actually in Scotland...)
I agree!
You can always find more work, but memories like this last a life time ❤️
Cereal
Unfortunately
And memories will fade, but love does not
oh yeah sure just get a new job off the job tree
"...Both seconds of it."
“My whole life I’ve considered myself quite easy to kill” is a great line!
This is easily the best skit I watched yesterday.
This was by far the friendliest The Grudge out of all the The Grudges
Makes me want to see more stories with horror movies creatures meeting surprisingly chill people who just try to understand and befriend them.
"She was actually quite pretty once we had brushed her teeth and dried her hair. I taught her how to walk on her feet and on the ground and in normal speed; and her ability to turn her head 180° without injuring herself helped us save on medical bills more than once."
"Fred was really shy when we first met, because of his horrible burn-scars and looking like a used heavy-flow tampon made of recycled shoes.
These days, though, we get along like brothers, if one of those brothers had knives for fingers and called everyone 'Bitch' all the time."
Joel didn't die in the haunted cottage his work tried to get him murdered by a grudge monster in. They were trying to have him die so they could cash in on his life insurance policy, but he just communicated and helped out a mysterious spirit. That's the kinda guy Joel is. He's a terrible worker, though.
His work did a terrible job trying to kill him though. Like he said, he was very easy to kill.
"You got a car why not just drive yourself into town? I wanted to figure out the scary thing myself."
You must've gotten your master's degree in horror movie writing. You have the writing for characters in horror movies down perfectly.
And that’s usually why they stick around once the scary thing has made its presence known. Pride in their investigative work.
This is the main problem people have with white people in horror situations. They stick around far too long. Maybe it's a pride thing, like they are so confident they can solve it.
"Why are you so mysterious"
"Call the cops!" "NO! I have weed on me. Let's figure this out on our own."
I like how you faded out of the rant about the entity not wanting to kill you and continued with the story. I wish some people in my life had that option.
I had almost the same situation with strange noises in the attic in a remote cabin. It turned out to be a dormouse and over the summer I could watch her babies grow up and explore the surrounding area. Most wholesome twist to a scary story.
“My whole life I considered myself quite easy to kill,” busted out laughing. Best line hands down
It’s seems that communicating with mysterious The Grudge creatures is all that you’re good for.
That’s not true.
yes it is
No, It isn't.
yes it is
:)
Wow, from a whole two screenshot video to multiple thousands of screenshots with sound. You really kicked things up with this one, Joel ❤️
Get in touch with The Grudge, tell him about an exciting new opportunity that's just opened up at your old office, maybe that will give him something to do, give him more meaning in his life. ✋🦶✋
✋ 🦶 ✋
Joel is timeless you could tell me he was 23 or 57 and I would just go with it
FIFTY SEVEN
You are so brave for forming an emotional connection with a the grudge
I love the ending of this so much, I hope he keeps his job! I mean he has a good standing in his workplace so his boss should be understanding
Can't believe this has already been up for a day! Nice work, Joel!
Wait, what...
@@The_Conundrum_Crew(check his latest community posts for context and you'll get the joke)
I hate staying in cottages in Scotland with a the Grudge in them
"A the grudge" really got me me good😆Never change Joel.
Glitchy hand foot entities are complicated creatures, really glad to see Joel making such an effort to make sure the little fella was doing ok.
This was so pleasant to watch especially as someone who hates horror movies. It was like a fun, silly children's story and a cute, funny ending
This was the most beautiful "the grudge" encounter
As a Scot you should have left him a tin of Tennents at the foot of the stairs, If the offering didn't satisfy the spectre at least you'd have had something to mix into your cereal the next morning!
Little known fact: For Joel's 577th video upload extravaganza, he decided to keep the video unlisted for the first 24 hours and only share the link with select fans to view prior to the public release. I was ecstatic to be one of the lucky ones who saw this on Thursday 9/14/2023 when it was originally uploaded.
Typical 1% throwing it in our faces. You disgust me
Every time, I wonder how Joel could possibly stay fresh and original with sketch ideas, and every time, Joel blows me away with what he manages to come up with. This was fantastic. What a lovely The Grudge you found, and what a fine form you've mastered in communicating with it!
I dunno…I think some of his The Grudge hand grammar could use improvement.
3:14 what a cute smile it has!
I love how much your shots have evolved all the scenes in this are so beautiful! Great Video Joel
I love the setup for a creepy and horror video, but his nonchalance cuts through that and delivers everything so matter of factly
Classic video, as always. Thank you Joel, you put a bright spot on the end of my work week. Take care brother ✌️
there's a humorously subversive quality to these vids that makes me completely forget whatever I was worrying about before I clicked them. Now my mind is on the The Grudge guy
How does Joel always manage to make me smile?
The feet smiled too
Oh my god he was talking to himself. This whole thing is a story about self-love
"a the grudge, or a the grudge-adjacent entity" made me LOL
These videos where Joel narrates weird occurrences might be my favorites.
"I met a most peculiar man today" was one of the first Joel Haver videos i ever saw and it is beautiful.
much like the movie Thor: The Dark World
I'm super stoked for Pt 2 "Joel and the the Grudge thing's day out" where you head into the big city and antics ensue
2nd rewatch since it's the 2nd day of release, as usual. :)
Lol, "the 'the grudge'" got me every time.
Now I want a JOEL-directed Horror movie.
I love the shot of Joel waving his hands at his car, and telling his car what looks like "no way".
that night-stand at 2:25 is easily in my top 5 list of rural Scottish cottage night-stands
i love when this was definitely uploaded yesterday but we all just waited until today to watch
He has such a way with words when describing the uuuh hands and feet thing doing weird things
The "A the Grudge" bit was funny af.
I’m always excited for Joel’s videos bc I never have any idea where they are going to go 😂
maybe the real grudge is the friends we make along the way.
I bet the thing in the attic wasn't a good internet connection, that's for sure.
I love the detail of it needing to be a boy to play a game with it
I hate it when I rent a cottage for work but then get distracted trying to solve the mysteries of the The Grudge living in my attic and don't wind up doing any work and then get fired. Happens WAY too often
When 'The Grudge' becomes 'The Disgruntlement'
Really love the emphatic "no" gesture to the car. That was a good directorial decision.
I love the The Grudge.
You might lose your job, but man, if that isn't a worthy cause!
Helping the The Grudge or the The Grudge adjacent entity figure out it's worth and purpose in life is one of the most beautiful things I could imagine.
You probably haven’t imagined a Scottie dog on a tiny unicycle teaching an even smaller Scottie dog on an even smaller unicycle to bark the bass line of Under Pressure.
The forgotten installment in the SH series...
“Silent Haver: Restless Leg Syndrome”
I'm impressed that you went all the way to Scotland for authenticity.
You may not have a job but you have a friend ❤️
I went on a Joel spree for a while, then subbed, then went on a horror short spree for a while, and finally saw my two RUclips rabbit holes collide. On the down side, neither me nor my The Grudge will get any sleep tonight.
Instead of doing work, he learned how to speak Grudgese. So nice to see people actually care for others despite their appearance 😊
"I'll always remember my time with the The Grudge." Lol. The double the is such an awesome little bit.
Best ending to any The Grudge movie I've ever seen!
I'm glad you showed yourself telling the car no as there would have been a lot of unanswered questions otherwise.
The perfect time to hold a The Grudge.
And what do you hold a The Grudge with? That’s right: with your hands and feet.
Amazing, the tone is so good. My favourite type of Joel Haver films, those mysterious, melancholic yet heartwarming films.
I once heard someone say they heard something in the attic. Scared me near to death, I thought they were going to come up here and look.
Love how Joel always plays Chopin and Rachmaninoff in his videos
Can you identify the piece at 1:22 ? Someone else here in the comments was asking for the name.
@@chillcreep4926 Chopin prelude op. 28 no. 13
"I forgot I was here for work." HAHAHA. Might be my favorite short of the year
“A The Grudge Adjacent Entity”.
Love it.
That's gotta be the most clean, comfortable looking attic I've ever seen.
I enjoy how all Joels videos mostly end with some sort of meta laughter. It feels self deprecating or idk makes it seem like its not being taken too seriously. Good stuff.
Been watching this over and over for the past 24 hours and wow! All I can say is what a great, on-time, video!
He may have lost his job, but at least he gained a new friend.
That laugh at the end kills me!
I seriously don't know how this guy uploads such high quality and creative content so consistently
The break at the end is why I've already watched this five times.
Life has been very rough for me lately but your video makes me smile and that makes all the difference. I feel that we cannot talk about our problems often because our society is based on an individualistic paradygm where everyone is expected to shut up and keep it all inside. To me you are a voice of our generation that scream against that paradygm and promote sharing our emotion by not being afraid of being our vulnerable selves. Love from Montréal.
That break in the narration at the end sent me to heaven
That’s really poetic, very cute. And the settings are mesmerizing.
That laugh when you can't maintain character any longer 💗
I'm learning how to speak a 'The Grudge' adjacent Entity on Duolingo at the moment, awesome to see you're fluent Joel!
The hardest part for me is the ephemeral morphing in and out of reality, it doesn't quite role off the ankle yet, but I'll get there
This reminds me I need to write something for Tent's Month of Halloween.
"You don't like me? Well, that's understandable." *sighs*
"You eliminate your enemies the moment you befriend them."
-Someone..
"my whole life I've considered myself easy to kill" lol I've never resonated so much with a piece of media
The scene of the hand-feet thing from the attic reminded me of a thing that happened when I was a kid, I was about 7-8 years old. I woke up one morning, drowsy and not yet fully awake. I looked up, and I saw one of the ceiling panels slightly removed to the side, and a hand holding a knife was peaking through. I was mortified, frozen in place. I tried to scream for my mother but my voice wouldn’t come out. Moments later, the hand pulled back, and I jumped from bed and ran to my mother and hugged her crying. She came with me to my room and of course, nothing was there, and the panel was in its place.
This never happened again. Obviously I was still dreaming since I wasn’t fully awake. But I still remember that day vividly even after almost 22 years.
How does Joel do it? Years of consistent uploads and he’s still knocking them out of the park.
This is easily one of my favorites
Some people would say you did the work that really matters.
Really appreciate the use of Mozart's Dissonance Quartet here Joel
Joel giggling at the end of this is the best 🥹
I love the use of the music in Joel's videos, especially Chopin's Etude op. 25 no 12, this slow version suits perfectly to the situation... ...except that I can't dissociate it from it's perfect use in "Press 1 For More Options"... "we're fucked" [ad infinitum]
god this has been my favourite youtube video ever since joel haver uploaded it yesterday
"...and I didn't do any work, I forgot I was here for work" hahahahaha
This speaks to me on such a deep level. Thanks Joel ❤️
I fucking love how surreal this is and lowkey crrpy but funny af at the same time.
