13:05 they actually enjoyed the sound of the performance so much that it was used as the official version on the The Daily Mail/Staircase double single
Yeah I noticed they samed really similar when I first listened to from the basement version. Pretty cool lol
Bloom from the basement sounds absolutely godly.
Colin's bassplaying really shines here
yeah
That is actually so crazy that you made the point about Bloom sounding like a novel, because from what I've heard Thom based the song around the idea of the hero's journey put into song form. I guess that shows how well he pulled it off.
That is insane to hear...glad it confirms I was an attentive listener this go around! Thanks for the insight
Over time, Bloom has become my favourite Radiohead track, and this version now stands out, to me, as peak 'Head. The first passage is so claustrophobic and tense full of a yearning mirrored in the lyrics; "So why does it still hurt?". and needs the release of the second part, which reminds me of a mania or, fever dream. When the flugelhorns come in, trilling and soaring, I don't think I can imagine a more perfect musical moment.
Bloom hit you like Johnny B. Goode hit the kids of 1955 in Back to the Future, lol
"I guess you guys aren't ready for that, yet. But your kids are gonna love it."
I can't believe you actually reacted to the perfomance! I'm so happy rn
NO WAY he finally did it
what a legend
He did us dirty by not posting pt2 lol
The Daily Mail was included on the Stairway release, which I believe is also avaliable on Vinyl.
It's such an incredible track, and so succinctly performed, you wouldn't tell it was live.
Overall this mix is probably more accessible listening than the studio album; however as a lover of chill music myself, I cannot express my deep admiration for Codex --> Give up the Ghost.
Codex --> give up the ghost
Yes.
That's funny you say that you can't imagine yourself ever going back and listening to "Bloom" on its own because I don't know how many times I specifically have been like, "I need BLOOM!" Its like a sun rise at 1.5 speed. That crescendo man!
Idk why but I've never felt challenged by experimental music. It always felt right to me. That's probably why TKOL is my fav album.
This was the album that got me back into Radiohead. Amazing album and I don’t understand why people always put it as one of Radiohead’s worst albums.
@@markmccann1 i feel like it portrays some of ok computer and kid amnesiac's feelings but better
My favourite 2 radiohead albums : kid amnesiac and tkol (not basement ver)
Definitely one of my favorites too. Especially the last half
The horn sections on this session are so amazing. In contrast, if you listen to horn sections from Kid A they are so much more abrasive. Horns used on TKOL are much more angelic.
Please don't stop making videos. We love your content man!
A new Radiohead reaction video!!! This will be a day long remembered!!
Just wait til you hear Separator
This version of The Daily Mail is a masterpiece, prolly top 5 radiohead performance for me
The prophecy has been completed
*dramatic lightning strike*

Bloom from the basement might be my favorite Radiohead song lol
Can't wait until you get to Give Up the Ghost.
Yasssss Daily Mail! I know why it didn't make the album - it was such a departure from what they were going for on that album. But isn't it awesome tho! When you were talking about top tens... yeah I was thinking of that one. It's always in mine.
Pt. 2 or we riot.
Took me almost 6 years to actually digest TKOL. Now it’s one of my fav. Bloom is one of the greatest songs ever, there’s a lot going on in this song, it’s too much technical, but you can feel it, it’s a deep song. Radiohead is like wine, the more you listen the better it gets.
My favorite thing about the second drummer (as others have pointed out: Clive Deamer) is that not only does he look like they cloned Phil... in the 2018 tour, he grew a goatee and he looked like he was Phil From The Darkest Timeline #SixSeasonsAndAMovie
“We’ll get that show back on screen buddy”
The Daily Mail gives me a strong late Beatles vibe.
"Canvas of what sounds cool," is a good way to think of it, the jazzy part of radiohead in that way.
Love your reactions to RH! Thanks!
Bloom should be called broom because it's like a bunch of pieces scattered about then it all gets swept together by that climax lol.
Bro this video was a much-needed addition to my day.
I’m in the minority that loves this album. Love the addition of daily mail here and this version of feral is real nice
So happy you finally did this!!!
waitin for next part
really glad u came back
missed your reactions =3
yes mate! keep em coming, can't wait for the next one!
if you want your mind blown watch their 2003 glastonbury performance when this one's done
You won't be ready for Staircase
It's really amazing to see how these songs open up when they're played live. Especially when you realize how ANALOG (still electronic, of course, but not DIGITAL) the musicianship is.
Best way to appreciate "Feral."
Think of it as the inner mindset of a feral alleycat and the various emotions it may feel from its' own perspective. I think that's what they were going for, musically speaking.
Complete with Thom's "meowing."
It's happened and I'm so happy about it
waiting for the second part!!!!
I am waiting, not so patiently for part two of this session I love your reactions and I can not wait for you to hear Little By Little, Codex and Give Up the Ghost they are all amazing.
Keep up the good work my guy
ngl the basement version of feral is incredible. I adjusted to the vocals pretty quick and that moment when they just start jamming is so satisfying. This is what the album version should have been.
YAYYY please do Pablo Honey part 2 also tho!! I'm so excited to see that
Thanks for another great reaction dude! Hope you're doing good.
So glad the horns turned you around on Bloom. The I'M MOVIN OUT OF ORBIT/TURNIN IN SOMERSAULTS section I find particularly gorgeous. The studio version if Bloom is a pale shadow of this performance.
Finally... Haven't even watched this yet... But this is some of Radioheads best work.
I had the exact same thoughts you did haha! This From The Basement version is a real surprise! Never heard it
So happy you are finally doing this that I am actually a little nervous but its only because I respect and value your opinion unlike a lot of people reacting to music now you do a great job and even got me into Muse a little bit although I think the only reason I didnt like Muse that much is because I had never heard them before and people kept saying they sounded like Radiohead and when they didnt I got a little pissed and disappointed if you cross Rush and Radiohead with a little Queen that would be a better description.
Bloom from the basement is my favorite Radiohead song
That drummer is Clive Deamer. Originally from the trip-hop group Portishead.
It's incredible
he’s back
i vibe with feral so goddamn bad
The second song (The Daily Mail) isn't on The King Of Limbs, so this is your first time listening to it. Later in the set, there's another "new" song called Staircase. Both are pretty awesome...
I like how literally more than half of the video is bloom 😂
I love This performance
Your reaction to the drop on Daily Mail is so accurate
You need to check out the Live from Electric Lady Studios version of Bloom. It's an amazingly beautiful version of the song
Finally!
I was ready to LOSE IT at your opinion on the beginning of Blume..but I'm glad you kept an open mind by the end. Respek.
No way someone is actually reacting to this
My fav album ever
This is my favorite album of theirs and it's entirely because of this From the Basement.
Man I watched your A Moon Shaped Pool review and you said at the end that Kid A is your least favorite Radiohead album. You really should relisten to it on your own time. It’s a masterpiece.
Ah yes, the album and the live album that inspire me to want to make my own band.
oh yeah
Still waiting for Part 2 :)
where's part two dude?(
Bloom is probably the best song Rafiohead has ever recorded IMO
-You should listen to The Knife A tooth for an eye. Thom was listening to that type of music at the time.
FINALLY
We miss you NW
I'd love to hear what you make of the band Everything Everything. "MY KZ UR BF", "Schoolin" and "Photoshop Handsome" - the singles from their debut album - would be good places to start!
My TKOL playlist always have The Daily Mail, played after Lotus Flower
I am not sure I read it somewhere but there is an insane Miles Davis album called Bitches Brew that is totally a from chaos comes beauty type of thing where most of the songs just sound like noise until they resolve most of the time it is almost painful to listen to you can tell Radiohead loves that album and it influenced Bloom a lot.
that "kale" analogy is so on point wow
Please don't stop making videos of reacting on radiohead albums!
He should react to their copious b-sides some of them are amazing.
Please listen to the last b-side from this album. Its called the butcher, its like morning Mr magpie meets the melodies and harmonies from in rainbows. I beg you
The Daily Mail is such a badass song.
"How is this live"?
Nigel GOATrich
You should do a reaction to The Smile Glastonbury performance the new band of Thom n Johnny!
THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING
Sorry for caps but ive waited too long for this one. Damn cant wait for the next part
@@namezjames2265 i can't forgive you, i'm too upset. really enjoyed the vid but those caps have really ruined it now
We're not scaremongering. :)
I like how you talkk
heyyy when could we expect pablo honey part 2?
I've got a lot of changes lately in my life, and a lot of videos that I have on the backburner. Hopefully that'll be soon but I'm not gonna make any promises!
FUCK YES, Ive been waiting for this video since your in rainbows basement reaction
Great luck in graduate school my daughter starts next year this is her last year as an undergrad she is going to be a speech Pathologist enjoy it should be the time of your life well you could be like my daughter and have 2 or 3 nervous breakdowns a semester even though her GPA is over 3.8 which is not that great anymore apparently.
If The Daily Mail was included in the King of Limbs album it'd make it exponentially better
When you said you didn’t like bloom I thought ‘what is wrong with you?’, then you got it and all was forgiven.
Whatever happened to part 2?
When is part2 coming?
Hey nightwalk !
Hey Kasey!
@@NightwalkReal aww thanks for responding
I never actually heard a song that has 3 drummers in it and the other drummer is in a band called Portishead who basically started another genre Trip Hop and their album Dummy is fantastic you should check it out. I am pretty sure this song was inspired by the Miles Davis fusion record Bitches Brew on that record there a lot of musical chaos then some resolution sort of a from chaos comes beauty type of thing to me this song is like a musical orgasm I love it although I get a good laugh when Radiohead says they hate prog rock and are not a prog band tell me this is not prog.
Part 2 plzz
clicked this video really fucking fast
Wait till you hear Codex
YO YO MAAAAAAH YO YO MAAAAAAAH
Could you react to Coloratura? It's a masterpiece.
youre in a parallel universe of my house
o.O I didn't think anyone would notice I escaped to the multiverse
When are you publishing the part 2???
I remember when I didn’t like bloom… give it time
You didn't finish the Pablo Honey reaction!
i really want to recommend you a album called 冀西南林路行..This is kind of a Chinese progressive Rock music which is really amazing. Can you do the first reaction for this album because i love this album so much
This is the RUclips link ruclips.net/video/nhqmV_-awmE/видео.html
