I have always loved the look of wool, especially primitive . Working with that was my goal back in the '90s when I was first getting my fabrics and tools together to quilt.. And then life happened 😉. I ended up a single mom and worked multiple jobs and now I'm 58 😁🤦😂. So, besides you're travels I'm really enjoying the fact that you too love wool. Back thenthere were only a few tv shows on quilting and not much at all on wool. I had to look in magazines. I still have a collection of those. I got rid of a few and it was like cutting off my arm! Really really enjoying your channel. ☺️🌻💛
Just discovered your channel and am thoroughly enjoying it. I have lots of wool kits and have been wanting to take a class before I tackled them. I live in So. California, so it’s not easy to find somewhere I can take a class. After watching your video, I now have the confidence to open one of the kits and put it together. Thank you so much, Anna. You are a wonderful teacher
You and I are so much alike. It must be the October baby thing. I’m a miser too, save every bit of usable materials. Hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving, you and yours. I know I have a lot to be thankful for and you are a#1 on my list.
I love hanging out with you in the Bee Hive, Anna. I enjoy watching how you prep your projects and I have learned so much from you. Hope your Thanksgiving was as enjoyable as mine. Have a great weekend. Missed seeing Enzo, give him a hug for me. Pam
I love the idea of putting the SF101 on the back of wool to stabilize the wool. Brilliant. "Spendy"....haven't heard that word since I moved away from Spokane The only time I ever heard people use that word was in the Washington/Oregon area. I love local colloquialisms like that. (And for Utah, it was "Oh my heck." Only place I heard that phrase. I now live in Michigan, and the local phrase I have caught is "Geez oh Pete." Only hear that one in Michigan!)
Dear Anna, as always have enjoyed watching this video. Just bought another wool kit and about to start it. My best to you and G and kisses to Enzo . Glenda and the 10 lb poodle Mackenzie🐩
I love prepping just as much as stitching, but always look for short cuts and savings too. Very fun and relaxed tutorial, I like how you get right into it.
Anna I thoroughly enjoy watching you work “buzzing around the hive”. I like how you take care to use all the scraps and bits. I’ve recently become interested in wool. Thank you for showing us how to trace and interface wool ❤️
Happy Turkey to your family from ours. Hope your arm is still healing. Count down 5 weeks left working in the OR, and then I have clients bringing quilts for longarm services. Can't wait. I want to name my sewing room. Can't come up with anything yet. You have the best one.
I had to stop at about 12:42 and write this comment. Seriously, "I would never slap my wool," and the little giggle that followed... You made my day. :D I so appreciate your tutorials and how you share your time in your beehive. It is so helpful, and I swear it lowers my blood pressure! Thank you for being you! Wishing you happy holidays and a wonderful 2019!
I love watching you prep your projects. I have used your method and it's great! Thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving to you, G, and Enzo! See you in the next video.
Thank you. You make it look so relaxing . I need to give it a try. I used to do cross stitch but now find it tedious and I was getting tired of counting! I need something to take on the road with me. With all that wind, I hope there was no damage. Happy Thanksgiving!
I love watching your tutorials Anna. Very relaxing and informative. I’ve learned so much from you. I do everything the way you do & I’m sew addicted to wool work. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁
I love my wool mat and I don't notice a smell anymore from it. I haven't started my wool applique yet but will be trying the SF101 when I do....I always backed my surface embroidery pieces with muslin like the Crabapple Hill patterns suggested but I know another blogger uses an iron on stabilizer on hers (one I never heard of because she's in Australia) so I thought I would try SF101 instead. Embroidered some stem stitch last night and I love it so far. No matter how much I tried to get the muslin and quilting fabric to match, one would be larger than the other when I ironed it. I made their Over the River quilt and it's beautiful but it was a bit of a pain to make sure the muslin was getting sewn along with the embroidered pieces and borders or I don't know what I'm doing-very very possible.
you are going to love the SF101 perfect for embroidery...just finished a video on prepping embroidery that will be out in a few day. The link to the suede shop is www.etsy.com/shop/suedeshop?section_id=7816836
Another great tutorial Anna, tried commenting on your blog but can’t seem to do that again. Also tried to reply to a comment on google plus and a no go! Wondering what’s happening. Fingers crossed this works.
Totally new to this as well, boy you’re a wealth of knowledge. The paper you are tracing on, it’s obviously fusible....? Okay I know from my x stitching ( and your quilting) about fusible interfacing but paper. If i ever do material appliqué it will definitely be raw edge at first. But this looks soo interesting. Oh man, I wish I could find this type stuff around here. We have a micheals that isn’t as comprehensive as the US ones and a Fabric store in the city. I can order on line (aghast never have) but with diff in dollar, taxes, duty eeek. So guess will search around see if i can find anything. Perhaps the library has a book with patterns, lol I can trace! And find that paper. Okay many muti crafted people in NS (lot if knitters and rug hookers) so will have to put out some feelers! Ohh Anna I am more enabled by you on here with this and quilting than on all the x stitching channels. Maybe time to branch out!
It was a great time. I was ironing washed fabric so was highly entertained while doing that. No I don’t normally wash fabric but this was salvaged fabric.
Hi, Anna. Love, love, love all your videos of instructions and being able to travel with you 3. Would it be possible for G to put the date of your videos somewhere, so we can keep track of when you are in a certain place? I don’t seem to be able to watch in order and I’d love to do that. Thanks for being a good instructor.
Becky, I’m no expert but while I was at the quilt show in Houston a few weeks ago I was looking for one also. Several vendors said to look at the label and if it was from China they said to avoid it. They said the quality of the wool from China wasn’t so great and it smelled. Also the steam will go through the wool so to make sure you use it on an ironing surface. I purchased the Wooly Betty just to be on the safe side. I haven’t used it yet so I’m still skeptical.
Thank you for sharing. Could you tell me where I might find the suede material suitable to be made into purses, please? I so enjoy following your travels to shows and quilt stores. Such fun!
Hello Anna,G and Enzo, Happy Thanksgiving day today to all of you. Love your videos Anna. I have a tip for you and for the others who have a wool ironing mate...... Spray Fabrez on it than when ever you iron you get a nicer sent . (sorry for bad spelling). Give it a try and see if it helps for you.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Good to know how to position pieces so the leftover piece is large enough for another project. Where do you get your t-shirts? They are so appropriate and look comfy.
there is no paper backing on the SF101 it is a Pellon product that is a fusible interfacing. The Soft Fuse does have a paper backing and as I remove that as I layout and layer the design. best wishes!

Hi Anna! Always love your tutorials! May I ask you what the redwork pattern is that you have your project hanging on your project wall? It is gorgeous. Would love to do that myself! Thank you!
What did I do wrong? I put the pellon product on the back of my background fabric and all was good. Then I proceeded to fuse my wool applique pieces to the background and the whole thing puckered? I ended up peeling off the pellon and it all laid flat again. What caused this? Melissa
hummm I have only had that happen once but I was able to iron it flat again...not sure but maybe we got a troubled batch of SF...or maybe the background fabric was not washed...so it crinkled up...I'll have to see what is going on because this is going on with the current block I am working on but I decided I would iron it after I am done stitching and then the quilting will take care of the rest....we hope!
@@quiltroadies1695 You're so sweet to answer. It laid flat when I put it on the background but as I pressed the wool on it puckered. I'm thinking that my iron my be way to hot for the product. Anna, on a different subject, when you RV travel do you always stay at a camp ground?? If not how do you keep warm if not hooked up??? Thank you. Getting my first RV this weekend.
Most RVs have a propane heating system and thermostat. Don't believe running the generator is needed, just the amount of light it would take to run a light bulb. Congratulations -- now you need a Singer Featherweight! No hookups is called 'dry camping'.
You are correct Kimberly. Also a "Buddy Heater" www.mrheater.com/portable-buddy-heater.html works without using RV batteries. - G
How exciting your first RV! Please share your experiences with us. - G
Which one do you use...Mr. Buddy, Big Buddy, Little Buddy? Thanks.
