    • @chartreusenematoad9451
      @chartreusenematoad9451 6 лет назад +46

      Nope, no issues al all. It has been my daily driver and has been a great, reliable car. Just regular oil changes. I've put money into it, but that has just been for unnecessary aesthetic and performance upgrades. The next major service will be at the 60k mark ,and I plan to keep the car forever and hopefully put many many more miles on

      Henry It was all stock EXCEPT for a Borla exhaust which isn’t obnoxious sounding so I’m probably keeping it. I’m not sure yet, because I also plan on buying back my first car from when I was in college from the person I sold it to (07 tC) for like a grand and turning it into an autocross car. That’s the car I’m gonna tinker with while I pay off the 86. Maybe in the future once it’s paid off and if the new Supra is any good I’ll make that my new daily and track this one someday.

Cars at 82,200 miles and it says on the can use on any car over 50k...also put in a bottle of STP gas after a trip the gas station. Codes with the same oil I used the restorer on: P0420, P0014, P0014, P000B, P000D, P00014 Codes AFTER I changed the oil(because I changed the oil around 15 miles after): P0420, P0014, P000B, P000B, P000D, P0014, P000B. A month or 2 ago the car was at stage 1 with the OPENFLASHTABLET then stage 3+ with flex fuel(without flex fuel kit). Flashed it back to original ECU/file and sold the OpenFlashTablet. Some miles later it gave a transmission code cel problem then it fixed itself....then a catalytic converter o2 problem...let the car idle for 30 minutes rev'd it a bit then fixed itself......now this..help pls ty

    Never replace automatic transmission fluid unless the trans starts slipping, even then new fluid will likely make the problem worse.This is why most modern automatics don't even have a dipstick and are sealed, because the fluid degrades as the clutches degrade and new fluid on old clutches will cause problems.

    Hello
    Is it compulsory to use 0w20 oil type?
    I own a brz but I have been using 5w40 and it's performing well. Am based in South Africa.
    Please advice

    I’ve found that so many people don’t maintain there cars they just drive them until something seems off then trade them in for someone else to have the headaches

    what about major service? i heard with these types of engines the timing belt etc needs to be replaced at about 100,000kms. Is this true? So there is no major service?

    The hell. So I got the same cabin air filter, but I don’t know which way it should go. It says “flow” with an arrow pointing down, but the picture has it inserted flipped over. So does the arrow mean up or down? All the lettering when read right side up, the arrow points down (including “flow”). Should the lettering be upside down with the arrow pointing up or vice versa?

      The arrow should be positioned down or so that you can read the letters

    Hey on the trans and rear diff fluid ive heard the motul 75w-90 can give a pretty notchy shift feel in cold weather. Is there a higher performance fluid that can be used that isn’t as notchy feeling?

      @BlatentlyFakeName 6 лет назад

      I'm using Millers CRX for the gearbox and dif, which is lot better from cold but nothing will remove the notchyness entirely. A heavier and slightly higher gearknob helps too, the standard one is pretty light.

      2 for 1 That's just the sound of the direct injection system. I know its annoying as hell. You cant fix it. It sounds like that from the factory.
      Hope this helps

    Does anyone know if the automatic version of this have flappy paddles for gear changes? I'm asking because I probably have to buy one used in my country, and manual versions are really rare...

    You mentioned checking the steering and making sure it's full of fluid, this car has electric power steering and I was told its not serviceable, how do you check it?

    • @FTspeed
      @FTspeed  6 лет назад +5

      Yep you're right, my mistake. Got into a rhythm and confused it with our STI.
      The maintenance manual says to check steering gear, that is the only "inspection" of the steering system according to Toyota.

      FT86SpeedFactory Thanks for the clarification, just making sure I wasn't missing anything. I'm less than 1500 miles to my 60k service, wanted to do it all at once. Thanks guys.
