You see I wasn’t planning on changing the clusters until I saw that it shows how much range you have left and I always love seeing that. Now the problem is that I have an automatic so where you placed the button I already have a button there :( any other clever places you can think of placing?
You can really put the controls anywhere that you desire. Do you have a push to start? If so you can put the controls where the key start would be. Otherwise, you can also put the controls to the side of the cluster or where your fog light button would be.
I think i prefer the styling of the old cluster, i like the material-look background that covers all the gauges, but i prefer the way the rev meter takes up so much more space now - that dial is going to be moving a bit quicker
I have a question. My 2016 frs has two buttons in the middle where the custom cluster kit goes and it has snow and sport. If I can't put it there. Where do I put it?

I’ve done it. Changes out steering wheel and airbag and ran the wiring through the clock spring and into a swc module. SWC are analog negative ladder so most modules will take care of it

I had one small doubt, I have the 2017 steering wheel without the right side switch (the one that controls the instrument cluster) since I got the basic version with the older model instrument cluster. Is there any way to maybe just get the right side switch panel (the 5 directional buttons with return function) and somehow wire it up to the instrument cluster through the clockspring? It's a turn key car but my steering wheel has the controls, soooo would that automatically work then??? Also.. if it doesn't work and I have to go the traction route, my 86 has a traction off, a race traction off, and speed/snow buttons so all three are occupied... so am I out of luck then???

@@prettyzooted6288 Yes. If I recall correctly, I emailed Gerald about it and he mentions this is expected and can be cleared by resetting the battery or with a scanner. It went away and does not come back

No, the odometer will show whatever is on the car it was from. I shipped mine out to geraldjustprojects.com to have him reprogram the correct mileage on it.

The transmission does not matter. What matter is the car is Push start or Turn key. If the car is push start, it is just a simple swap-and-go. If the car is turn key then you must do handshake procedure as seen on the video at 15:20.

If you have the new steering wheel controls then you don't need the extra controller. As for where to acquire the digital cluster, I'm not sure how you can go about that in GER, but I used www.car-part.com/ to source one in USA from a junk yard.
What do you mean it doesn't tell your miles until it's empty? Are you saying the fuel gage doesn't work at all, just the gas light comes on when you're close to empty?
Another thing, would it be possible to wire in a 2017+ steering wheel so the chip board isn't required? Figured it might be an option, but probably not considering the steering wheel doesn't have any controls on it in the first place.
It’s possible, i’m in the process of making a tutorial. I already have a tutorial on how to put the head unit controls on the steering wheel if you don’t have them
@@KevinVo It is not, still key ignition. But since I have SWC I won’t run into that first issue of having to install that extra wiring in order to control it right? I only need to program it at the end to get it to recognize that it’s the new cluster.

Absolutely! You can either choose to use the retrofit kit from Gerald Just Projects or you should also be able to buy the OEM steering wheel controls to add as well.
In case you wanted to match the buttons and trim to that black replacement button you can get oem black trim off of amayama just look up the part numbers

Has anyone tried to fit the 2022 into a 2013+? I just checked the pins and the housing, and it looks to be a perfect fit and the connector is exactly the same as the 2013+ so it should be plug and play.

How is it able to show the oil temp info. Does that mean the Frs already has a factory oil temp sensor but just no way to get a reading from it.
Canbus. The cluster is already programmed for it, and the information is there in the Ecu already.

I think you would need to buy the whole steering wheel button setup. I doubt they sell just one side.

The mileage does not automatically transfer over. You need to send it to someone to reprogram it to show the correct mileage.

For push to start vehicles it is even easier because you can skip the programming step.

No, the sensors are already their from the factory.
My RHD GT86 did not come with a digital display from factory, how would I be able to do the swap ?
Should be essentially the same process. You'll just need to add the steering wheel controls.

Ok I have a question if someone can help I have a 2013 base model 86 and it comes with the analogue cluster any chance this software will allow me to put in a cluster from same year with the digital speedo and white dial I really want to do this swap but am struggling to find information. Also could I use an auto cluster for my manual?
You should be able to retrofit it into your car.

Has anyone tried to fit the 2022 into a 2013+? I just checked the pins and the housing, and it looks to be a perfect fit and the connector is exactly the same as the 2013+ so it should be plug and play.
