If I buy a used cluster and steering wheel from a 2020 BRZ, can you install them in my 2015 model? (Push button start) I've read online that some programming might be required.
Hi, I am going to buy 2020 brz soon and I was wondering if it is possible to down grade cluster from lcd display into old cluster. Thank you in advance
Hi thanks for watching. I can’t give you a definite answer, but if it works one way, I can’t see why it wouldn’t work the other way. Atleast the pre facelift clusters are cheap to get hold of and try.
Instead of the retrofit kit controller, can I just get a a steering wheel with the control buttons and attach it to the cluster, please respond because I recently changed into this odometer and I wanna get the steering wheel since it looks better
does every function how it should ?? is everything on the small screen accurate ?i will wait for you to make your next video showing us you going through that screen (:
Edsgar Jimenez so I’m lead to believe. Will make sure I walk through all the features in part 2. Worth you having a read here if its a push start car its pretty much plug and play, if you start the car with a key, you will need to read through this thread for more info as I havent researched that side of it as mine is push button startL www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129867
So I'm planning on converting my 15 frs to a manual so I'll need a new ecu so will I be able to get it to communicate with the car if the ecu and hud are from the same car
Hi Twibean, great little vid. I’ve been interested in doing this for quite a while now - I found Gerald’s projects sometime last year. What I’m curious about the though is the recorded mileage on the odometer, is that recorded on the clocks or is the ECU remembering the correct mileage and just telling the cluster what to display? What I’m getting at is, will a used 2017 cluster display the mileage from the car it was removed from (in which case I would need it changed somehow) or will it start displaying my car’s correct mileage?
Sorry I missed this comment, thanks for watching. The guy above is correct it’s recorded in the cluster, therefore it will show the mileage from the car it was taken from unless you have it reprogrammed
Hi thanks for watching. You would need to replace more than just the steering wheel, you would need to replace the clock spring, plus additional wiring to run the signal to the cluster
Hi, I have a question about the door signal on the fl model cluster. I’ve read someone in US forum i stalled RHD version cluster, and when the door opens, the cluster will show the otherside door open. As you have installed US version on RHD drive car, are you facing the same issue as well?
Hi thanks for watching, I got mine from a scrap yard breaking a damaged facelift car. You can purchased them from Toyota/Subaru dealerships or second hand on ebay etc.
Hi i thanks for watching. The mileage is recorded in the cluster, therefore it will show the mileage from the car it was taken from unless you have it reprogrammed to show the mileage of the car you are fitting it to.
If it’s turn key start it’s not as simple as this, we don’t have that spec in the uk but there’s lots of info here www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129867
Hi thanks for the question. Technically you can plug it in any push button start gt86/brz/frs and all the dials will work however you will not have control of the LED screen and the mileage will be that of the cluster from the donor car not yours. To control the screen you will then need to install the Geraldjustprojects controller, which is a little button and joystick which mounts in the black plate near the traction buttons(Route I am going) or you change the steering wheel, part of the look, clock spring etc. To sort mileage you need to get this programmed by one of many companies out there that adjust mileage or by one with similar miles to yours. Plenty of info here, I cant take credit for the info: www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129868
Hi thanks for watching. Options include buying a cluster with a similar amount of miles to your car. Another is that there are plenty of companies that clock cars legally that could do it and can be found with a quick google search, it costs upwards of £100. Unfortunately the mileage is stored in the cluster not the ecu.
All depends, If it’s turn key start it’s not as simple as this, we don’t have that spec in the uk but there’s lots of info here www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129867 If it’s push button start you are fine
no push button, more chance of failures. 0 walkthroughs on how to solve the problems online though. It's a huge waste of money if you don't have a push start car.
Looking forward to part 2 mate

Sorry do you mean the cluster?
My 2015 model didn't come with digital speedometer, if I replace them with OEM one, would it shows the speed and the gear indication?
Sorry I’m not sure on the answer to that questions.

Is the inst. cluster same for MT and AT?
Sorry im not sure, I assume so but can guarantee it
Hi, install video of this and the controller are great, thank you. But how do you reprogram the cluster?
Hi as mentioned in the video, there are plenty of specialists to get the mileage correct out there
Could you just swap in a 2017+ steering wheel to be able to control the cluster?
Hi thanks for watching. You would need to replace more than just the steering wheel, you would need to replace the clock spring, plus additional wiring to run the signal to the cluster
@@tweedbean please make video

Hi thanks for watching. I actually installed the FL cluster from a UK car into a UK car so I wouldnt face this issue.
I wanna know if you can retrofit a brz climate control into a 2017 86
Sorry I cant help with that one
Me too I’m doing it because I modded my BRZ a loot so I’m going to do it btw thanks for the help
Nice one, glad you found it helpful
@@tweedbean yeah thanks
Hi!I have a question. If im changing the cluster and putting the steering wheel with buttons its gonna work without that joystick?
Sorry not attempted the steering wheel to confirm.
Where you get the facelift cluster? any link to buy?
Hi thanks for watching, I got mine from a scrap yard breaking a damaged facelift car. You can purchased them from Toyota/Subaru dealerships or second hand on ebay etc.
Does it change the total mileage of the car?
Hi i thanks for watching. The mileage is recorded in the cluster, therefore it will show the mileage from the car it was taken from unless you have it reprogrammed to show the mileage of the car you are fitting it to.
Would it be possible to retrofit this cluster into a 2014 Scion FR-S

You mean the whole time the cluster was just plug n play ????? It was just a matter of wiring a controller ???
Depends on the car, is it’s a push button start, manual car then it’s exactly like this video
@@tweedbean its base model so no push button
What’s the part number for the new cluster?
Thanks for watching, sorry not sure what the part numbers are
What about the milage?

Well in my car atleast it turns the cluster on but the car wont start :(

Yeah more challenging on the non push start car, geraldjust on the ft86 forum has a thread that may help you
