Same with if you are the one doing the shooting. After a few shots the enemy typically has a good idea where you are and will be heading your way. I have gotten a lot of kills simply by changing the building I am in and getting them as they go to clear it
Here's a few tactical tips. 1. Be aware of your muzzle. It's best to back off from windows, doorways, corners and cover when you are pieing or firing. For example: if you are firing from a window while standing close to it, anybody who can see that window can see your barrel, muzzle flash and smoke and know exactly where you are. 2. (A) If you are breaching a room with other players, clear your corner and move along the wall out of the door frame to allow your teammates to enter the room and back you up. If you are second in the stack, enter the room and clear the opposite corner of the point man in front of you. If you are 3rd and 4th, do the same, essentially zig zagging into the room. 2. (B)Everybody should be hugging the same wall where the entry point is and NOBODY should push to the center of the room or hold in the doorway, this makes sure that everyone is clear of any friendly fire and also means more friendly weapons on threats. 3. Clear radio comms for vital information only during combat, there is such a thing as over saturation of comms and it can be cumbersome, especially for the Squad leader that needs to take both the squad members information and the information of 8+ other squads. 4. Use more bounding tactics, you should learn to feel the firefight, shoot when you need to so you can maintain fire superiority and suppression and move when you are able to. If you are in close proximity to teammates to where friendly fire is possible, call out your movement. 5. If you are using smoke to conceal an attack, throw your smokes as far as possible toward the enemy. You want to reduce THEIR visibility, not your own. 6. If a medic is healing you in a corner, yes it's a special moment when you gaze into each others eyes, but your priority should be security for both yourself and the medic who doesn't have a weapon out.
Another one is when bandaging other players as a medic ensure you tap each person with the healing bag before moving on to the next incapacitated friendly this enables stamina to begin coming back.
Its better to revive 3 dead people and having them covering you while healing them completely than wasting time with one and risk of been flanked and outnumbered, but still its situational
dont always shoot right when you see an enemy, sometimes its better to let them think the area is safe and expose themselves and their squad more... as a machinegunner i often just wait and observe until i have multiple targets out in the open.
Depends on what your squad leader says, but if your 1-Manning it, do whatever your heart pleases, I recommend this dudes comment tho, waiting always usually ends up worth it
@@schmidty9536 shoot them. repeatedly. violently. lol. im just saying that sometimes when they dont see you its best to observe for a little bit. ive dropped whole squads in seconds just because i let them come out into the open and expose themselves, whereas if i just popped the first guy then the rest of their squad could have easily maneuvered on me.
I love baiting enemies after they kill a teammate with the quick drag or revive sound. If they see their feet move they think you're gonna drag em off just drag slightly pull out your gun and catch em off guard. Also another tip, SL is always right. even if its a bad move just listen bc its better to have a cooperative shitty squad than a dysfunctional squad period.
I agree, “A plan violently executed now is better than a perfect one tomorrow”. but a squad lead can sometimes make bad decisions because they don’t have enough information, if their team communicate well, they have 9 sets of eyes and ears. It’s key to suggest ideas to them but maintain the respect of their leadership, lines like: I think we should move on to the next cap, sound better than: fkin idiot, why we still here SL?. An exaggeration I know. But if they disagree you should follow them still. Unless their calls are consistently terrible. But it’s a hard call tbh.
Another tip for spotting enemies at mid-long range. Human eye senses movement, so a lot of the time when I'm looking for enemies I'm looking for movement or pixels that look different or out of place. I have much more success if when scanning my environment, instead of using a sweeping motion with the mouse, I sort of take visual snapshots by holding my mouse still, then sweep across to the next 'screen' of vision, and hold still again. This way I can see movement much better, whereas if I'm sweeping, everything on my screen is moving and it's much harder to tell. Obviously this depends on context and environment so I'm not saying it's what you should be doing all the time. Other advice: use your map a lot and think about where the enemy might be. If you don't have a scope, use your binoculars, they're amazingly useful on many maps and can net you kills.
Moi, another thing you should talk about is ranging, cause when I started, I had a _lot_ of problems trying to figure out ranging until I found the right guide on Steam to help me out. So whenever you can, go over ranging (unless you already have and I completely missed it, in which case, _sorry_ )
In regards to grenades from and infantry perspective, don't be afraid to drop your ammo bag, re supply your grenades, and start throwing more in the same direction, I think the ammo bag holds 8(?) Additional grenades so make it RAIN!
I can tell that after 4000 thousand hours played in this game that SOUND is key on this game. And this makes even mote fun, different and interesting this game. Great video man!
These are definitely neat little tips and tricks. But I'd like to hear more on some strategic tactics. Like maybe best ways to clear a room or buildings, navigating terrain, deciding the best ways to attack a position... great video as always!
So 80hrs in game here and the very first tip solves all of my spotting problems. Especially with ads on lats/hats. Rpg sites with my fov at 105 and I could barely make out the reticle and def couldnt see any of the ranges. This is going to be a game changer. I figured they just made it that way to be more challenging. Upside to this is I've already trained myself to spot targets with higher fov so lowering it should make me a spotting god now.
Pro tip - for CQB increase your FOV to 120. If there is multiple enemies in small area, you can react fast and acquire targets really fast. For long range engagement keep it on 90 FOV

What do you have your map button set to? I switched scoreboard and map buttons, TAB for map and M for scoreboard. Map reading and sound is an integral part of the game. If you know enemies are near and you're looking for one another, try giving your position away by shooting at nothing, so as to lure an enemy player towards you. Like if they think you're trying to engage someone 100 meters away, but you're just waiting for them. Gotta be real keen with this, though. ... and, after spending so many hours playing the game, I feel like you just get a sixth sense about how certain situations tend to pan out.
Positioning. I see too many players silhouetting themselves when all they'd have to do is take a few more steps and they'd be incredibly more difficult to spot.
commander skills comes from experience with the game if you're new and looking to play commander just watch this guy gameplay he plays commander most of the time
A lot of the vehicle pilots and drivers I've met in public servers could use extra time at the range. It's there, you can mess around until you know what you're doing. Just use it.
Bruh I've had 110 fov for a year and thought I just sucked. I always wondered why I could hit my shots in Hell Let Loose but not squad. Now, I'm actually competitive. Thanks!

most common mistake is to peak an enemy that already knows where you are. If you take shots change position dont peak him expecting to find him before he shots you
Marksman is high rewarding but high risk job, if you snipped down half a squad of enemy, don't be happy yet but rather get your bipod up and go! Change your position because your rifle has a unique sound and every single enemy wants to kill you! Run!
One more tip : Always reload your weapon when you fresh spawn, you'll chamber 1 more bullet ! really usefull with some weapons as the sks, 11 bullets instead of 10 is always nicee
I think it is important to take it slow in Squad. When you come frome games like CS ore Battelfield you like to rush. But in Squad you have to take it slower and more tactikal.
As a new player I am enjoying this but find it a steep learning curve, and not as many "new player friendly" servers have players actually willing to help a new player as I'd have thought. I find it very very hard to distinguish enemies from my own side because of similarities with the uniforms. Consequently I typically choose medic because I can heal people for squad points a lot easier than not being sure who it is I am looking at for a few seconds. In fact, because of this, I have started to play Squad 44 instead because uniform distinction is mush easier.
Simplest tip to get more kills? - Always come at enemy infantry, FOBs or CAPs from different directions. Too many players hear enemy small arms and run directly to the sound... You should estimate where the enemy player is on the map and move to flank, you will get many many more kills!
When you come under fire as a group; let the medic take command and follow their instructions until your lives are not under a direct threat, or the boys are all back up.
if u play as a marksman move around never sit at 1 point for more than 5 min if u killed someone u can easily get pin pointed and found out if u keep playing at the same spot so always move around and try to hind in bushes and places where u will not be seen
I did not realize that if you are shot a couple of times you will bleed out quicker. I thought no matter what if I am bleeding I had 3 minutes, and was furious when I'd bleed out in like 30 seconds.
I’ve had 120 fov for 4 months without knowing it’s worse, and the whole time I thought that binoculars just had a really bad zoom so i never used it lol
If you don't know something ask questions BUT use local chat as much as possible, only use squad chat as absolutely necessary. If you spam squad chat, it'll ruin the situational awareness of the whole squad, and keep the SL from being able to communicate with TL and other SLs
Much prefer view icons as roles. Totally disagree about situational awareness on that topic, its a huge boost to situational awareness to know what kits are around you and what your options are as a squad or as a group in your immediate area as well as rest of the map. They honestly should combine both, have the arrow showing player facing direction as well as role icon. That would be most ideal.
Thank you to all here because I guarantee one of you took time to help, if you haven't helped me I'm sure you helped someone, thank you for that, serious, coming from a guy who has maybe 2 hours on it, you guys are the best way to learn, I'll one day hopefully pay my debt by helping the new guy but for now revive me last😂🤘 this is the way
I guess this would fall under cordination/communication but I see people push off the defense objective way too fast/over commit on the attack objective and then are way out of position when their defense flag gets neutralized. Make sure the defense is solid before pushing. Also for people having trouble spotting enemies, take a load out that has a SCOPE lmao
The biggest flaw of this game is the lack of GOOD friendly player indicators/icons. Even with 100+ hours on the game I'm still checking the map every 10 seconds to see where are all my allies so I don't shoot them. So many time have I've been killed especially in close quarter situations by friendlies in the middle of a combat simply because they didn't immediately recognise me, but this could be easily avoided by just adding blue triangles on top of our heads. And I'm not going to lie it happens to me from time to time. Awkward situation. I know the game aims to be realistic, but me checking my map constantly, because I don't want to shoot friendly players isn't realistic at all and sucks the joy of the gameplay. ITS JUST A GAME and nobody likes friendly fire.
I really wish my squad and objective markers were easier to see without opening the map, I am constantly opening it to keep checking where my team is and where I'm supposed to be going. I also don't understand how when someone in my squad calls out anything that's "on me" or "from me" how the hell to know where exactly they are without mousing over everyone's map icon. People do it all the time and everyone else seems to be totally fine with it as if they always know exactly where everyone else is. What am I doing wrong? lol
The best tip for light vehicles, DON'T just drive straight in like you see in games like Halo. I see it all the time and usually if your versing a competent team they will blow you up as soon as you get within 100 meters. Hang back a little, use hills and walls to cover the sides you are not able to watch. Use friendly infantry squads to flush out the enemy while you provide suppressing fire. Communicate in local chat with your driver/ gunner. The driver typically is only able to see in front of the vehicle so use the turret to look in the directions that he is not able to watch
Yes, I like the recoil in that you have to steadily fight the recoil, but the way it gets progressively more out of control is a bit out of touch with reality for me. I've had experience shooting full auto's, mostly smg and 5.56 AR15, and I find that the most uncontrol able point of a mag dump is the first initial shots. Typically the guns becomes more controllable the longer you hold the trigger on full auto because your mind corrects the steady pressure and you just let your body weight lean into it after the initial jolt.
Also, the way guns like the M249 have more recoil than an M4 is unrealistic as well. Guns that weigh more will have less felt recoil compared to lighter guns of the same caliber. Video games always portray the SAW as having more recoil than say an M16 because they just look bigger. In reality, an M4 will have more felt recoil than a M249 because it is lighter, but shoots the same cartridge allowing the recoil to move the gun easier. The SAW is very controllable in reality. You can dump a whole belt in a good area around the target without fighting it too much. Unlike in the game where it eventually sends your muzzle into the air.
This may seem obvious but its sometimes better to just go prone when being shot at, the enemy may think they hit you and you're down giving you a chance to change position and get the drop.
I don't run epic; I use hesuvi. Epic directly lowers your fps while hesuvi iirc doesn't cost much cpu-wise(or at least it doesn't run on the same thread Squad gets bottlenecked on, which helps immensely). Player role helps a lot more because just because you know where they're looking, that doesn't guarantee they're capable of seeing enemies(nor does it tell you if they're looking into the ground/sky). Player role allows rifleman to find LAT/HAT or vice versa, and for you to find out which green guy is the one that needs ammo. The presence of allied player in a particular direction means someone usually gets shot before you if enemy is in that way.
Does nothing for situational awareness?? Uhm knowing you have an MG with you or a LAT or even marksman is way better that seeing which way they are looking in the map,
Communicating is the most beneficial thing you can do for your team. Calling out directions that it sounds like you are taking fire from/ known enemy locations gets everyone looking in the right direction and allows them to cover you if the enemy has you pinned. Use cardinal directions and be concise. Sometimes its not you, if your squad lead is not relaying information or putting markers on the map there's not much you can do to make the game play better. If I'm not squad leading I typically always ask for a fire team lead. I spend a lot of time marking directions and enemies if I am not under fire. Find a good squad lead or take the reigns when you are comfortable. Remember, "There are no bad teams, only bad leaders"
Suppress enemy positions (in moderation) even if you don't have a kill-shot. Check the map, is your whole team /squad looking in one direction and ignoring other possible angles the enemy could approach from? Might be worth being the guy who covers that angle. Do logi runs if they're needed and no-one else is, as long as you aren't using an important kit (medic or AT). Also, rescue friendly logi's if they are in danger of being overrun by the enemy, even if it just means hopping in and driving them back 50 or 100 meters. Remember if the logi has ammo in it you should be able to pick up a crewman kit and repair it if it's damaged/disabled. Make sure as a rifleman you are ready to offer ammo to team-mates; the most important people you can resupply are your squadleader (rally point), AT (rockets) and medic (more bandages).
Speaking from irl military experience; Give your SL's constant info about the enemy, ask for directives or give suggestions. Never push alone, always have someone covering you or cover someone. Use the LMG's from a distance as fire support while at the same time looking out for enemy movement. Giving the SL info is the most important thing as that allows the platoon leader to use mortars actively and efficiently. Why fire a bullet when you can send a grenade.
Guys How do I turn off the thing where my sights are constantly unclear/blurry? For example for the the rpg sight is just unreadable even when not shot at
Tip from me: Never re-peak! If someone shot to you, change position.
Unless you know where he is and you shoot better then him. But in comp, it a defo nogo :D
Same with if you are the one doing the shooting. After a few shots the enemy typically has a good idea where you are and will be heading your way. I have gotten a lot of kills simply by changing the building I am in and getting them as they go to clear it

That would be most ideal.
if you jump while running uphill you gain your stamina back way faster
Thank you to all here because I guarantee one of you took time to help, if you haven't helped me I'm sure you helped someone, thank you for that, serious, coming from a guy who has maybe 2 hours on it, you guys are the best way to learn, I'll one day hopefully pay my debt by helping the new guy but for now revive me last😂🤘 this is the way
great info
Let's gooo RECON UP
funny thing for me, If i try any of this, i'll engage the enemy, miss and they'll 1 shot me from 300 meters.
Lol i know right. And from somewhere u never see them but they have perfect visual of you
Yes.
What am I doing wrong? lol
Uh oh, I only play High FOV for most games. squad might be more of a challenge for me then I thought lol
some guides for insurgency faction, like pm, rpk gunners
Hey Moi, shere is your hilarious and absolut true Squad Marksmen guide? I dont find it anymore?
A little late to the party, but does the FOV tip apply the same for an ultrawide monitor?
light vehicle guide please
The best tip for light vehicles, DON'T just drive straight in like you see in games like Halo. I see it all the time and usually if your versing a competent team they will blow you up as soon as you get within 100 meters. Hang back a little, use hills and walls to cover the sides you are not able to watch. Use friendly infantry squads to flush out the enemy while you provide suppressing fire. Communicate in local chat with your driver/ gunner. The driver typically is only able to see in front of the vehicle so use the turret to look in the directions that he is not able to watch
The thing that frustrates me is how much recoil there is, the game acts like a 5 year old is shooting
PARKOUR!
USE THE MAP!
I love squad lmao
My main tip...DONT MOVE ALONE
What server do you play on?
IRL you go off sound not a map
Question. How do I use direct comes to other SL if I don’t have a numb pad. I have a 60% keyboard
Keybind the different squads with different keys like I,O,P, K, etc.
@@maphyous228 thank you
This may seem obvious but its sometimes better to just go prone when being shot at, the enemy may think they hit you and you're down giving you a chance to change position and get the drop.
Saved my life so many times while crossing huge fields, nothing like going prone and throwing a bunch of smokes around and just vanishing.
Uhm knowing you have an MG with you or a LAT or even marksman is way better that seeing which way they are looking in the map,
Wowww ❤
I struggle with actual gameplay and feeling useful, what are the things I can do to benefit my team other than just use my specified kit?
Best tip... click enemy’s heads
was that a blood mod at 2:59 ? how did u get that I want it.
Thx btw you look like Edward Snowden.
Never use "Left" and "Right". Only North ,North-East, East etc...
Me here going to use it for roblox fireteam.
you say that most fps benefit a high fov, but the only games i know where a high fps is good is minecraft/other non fps games
Guys How do I turn off the thing where my sights are constantly unclear/blurry? For example for the the rpg sight is just unreadable even when not shot at
Turn off anti-aliasing
Thanks man
What is the botton in squad .
Please call out when you see enemy for fucks sake don’t say left or right use your compass to use North, South etc. And give a distance too
Does anyone have tips to help me control the recoil?
