Rifleman is probably the most flexible class you can play so it's great for new players. The fact that every rifleman spawns with at least 1 grenade makes hill fights, house clearing, and fob destruction alot easier. I'd say 3 riflemen in a squad is a good number in a squad but sometimes you may want more or less depending on the map, faction, and situation.
I've got over 350 hours of play time on squad and I still rarely play anything other than rifleman. Sometimes I'll grab a LAT or SL but I prefer playing as rifleman. Not enough people pick the rifleman kit and being able to drop ammo for your squad helps everyone stay in the fight.
Yup, absolutely. I'm in the exact same boat. When I'm not feeling like supa fobing as fireteam lead with fast shovel or SL, I will almost always play rifleman for the same reason.
You should have emphasized the importance of picking up your ammo bag after using it, so many times i have left it somewhere and found when I respawned I no longer had my ammo bag on me.
I start having kills in squad after watching your guides. I totally suck at it and used to get 0-10-0 most of the time. Now i can finally enjoy the game.
I’ve played a fair bit of this game and I never thought of using the M4 as Irregular militia for that reason, thats a great idea and I’ll definitely be doing that going forward as I’m always trying to get a flank on.

Coming from mainly ArmA, I find myself using the C7 with the Elcan whenever I can. I freaking love that rifle and scope, and the ranging feels quite accurate. Maybe it's just me, but I always aim centre mass anyway, unless I'm really close, so don't really find the zeroing a problem in CQC
In IRL I have never zeroed my rifle at 200m, a standard BZO for infantry (at least in the Marine Corps utilizing ACOG's/RCO's) is 100 meters which is done by adjusting at 25 meters then having a 100 meter confirmation. When I need to shoot at 200m, I use the bottom of the horse shoe. 300m is the tip of the dick, and for close quarters or urban environments, the tip of the dick is also utilized for 25m engagements. Squad is using the old chevron reticles we used to have but it's pretty much the same concept.
When I did my duty, my service weapon was a G3 (the Norwegian AG-3 variant). It rocks! The 7.62 by 51mm can eat through most defences. You're _not_ safe behind trees from it. And it can take out targets as far as four kilometres out (tho effective range is 30 out to 300 metres).
SUSAT gang rise up! To add, the 'Sight Unit Small Arms, Trilux' is actually not too bad (IRL). The ones I've been issued have all been accurate, and the FOV is perfectly fine - something that the game doesn't simulate properly. One thing I do appreciate is in the game the SUSAT's aiming post doesn't glow in dark areas. By the mid-2000s the tritium illuminators had faded in pretty much every example.
As a new Squad player I find I am finding it incredibly difficult to identify soldiers' uniforms ... many patterns are so close to my own side I have many times not fired when it is an enemy I'm looking at, and they shoot me. I suppose it takes time to discern. That and the maps and where the hell we're supposed to be going to and whether to wait, defend or whatnot ... it's very good but so hard to know what the heck to do. Because I have not been so good at killing enemy soldiers due to my inability to discern their uniforms (from range) I opt for a medic and run about healing people for points. I like healing people and makes me useful to the team. One of the irritating aspects of a supposed team play game is when people refuse to stop and pick you up in a vehicle. I have had people drive off immediately from the initial deployment phase, leaving me and others sometimes to have to make our way on foot or on a road when an allied vehicle just sails past and doesn't stop. Boy that's annoying. All in all though, I am learning slowly what's what and I do really enjoy it a great deal ... maybe even I'll join a clan sometime but for now, I am a greenhorn combat medic learning the ropes. Fun times all in all 🙂
I prefer to keep my magnified optics zeroed to 200m in games whenever possible because 9/10 times I'm using a caliber with a fairly flat trajectory, and the difference in poi between 100 and 200 is basically negligible. You should be able to aim center of mass on any target within 300m or so and get hits with a 200m zero
great tips, even little things like free look, M4 to trick Americans, and field bino range-finding are all things I hadn't learned anywhere else yet. Keep it up
I can’t lie I rarely drop my ammo bag for others as I like having the extra mags for suppressing and flanking a bunch, also helps when the FOB has been taken down and there is no other way to rearm.
I mostly play Medic in games, because im trash at fighting. But I do love the Rifleman class. I can get whatever optic or even rifle I want, and I can get sent to do stuff like logi runs, instead of just following the squad everywhere.
I always play rifleman but I don't do logi runs ever, I get told to build, man machine guns or mortars as long as I'm sticking with the sl or most of the squad
I would disagree about the ranging markers. I would prefer the C79 an ZF1 optics over the ACOG and 1P-78 thanks to the ability to adjust range. I prefer to zero the optic for the range that I am shooting at and usually leave it at 200m, since this will be enough for most engagements but it is easier to use than BDC lines on the ACOG or 1P-78. That is personal preference though.
I always choose the magnified optic but theres 2 scopes I absolutely hate, the one where its a big ass post coming from the bottom and the one where its a big ass post coming from the top
Hi, I watched this video just for the part with FOV and I wanna adress something. As You are official Squad partner I'd appreciate if You pass it to developers. So, for me and a lot of other people lower FOV like 90 is really good for aiming and using binoculars and scopes. The thing is me and also some people can't handle it for a long period of time especially when You constantly moving around and turning. Holding Alt don't help becouse screen is still so zoomed in what makes some people feel unwell or even nausea. My idea is to add option like in Battlefield games. When you hold right click to ADS your FOV goes back to 90, so you can feel comfortable with higher fovs moving around but still be able to shoot and spot targets easly.
@@MoiDawg We really Thank You! I also want to mention that fov in Squad is resolution based, so with 16:9 aspect ratio 90 in Squad = 74 Hdeg 4:3 (Battlefield games) = 58 vertical (Escape From Tarkov), so thats surely on the lower side.
I don’t squad lead much but I make sure to have a atleast two riflemen placing the rifleman with the LAT/HAT or GL and the other rifleman resupply the rest of the squad.
Ironically I think I use the red dot on US Forces much more ACOG or iron sights. I took a multi-day training course with a clan and we only used the red dot, so I got so used to 200m+ aiming with the red dot that I can usually do it to some effectiveness in live games, though of course it's way easier with the ACOG. I personally prefer red dot over iron sights because of the cleaner sight picture and better target acquisition, whilst I prefer it over the ACOG because I don't find the need for the extra magnification when I have binos and the scope takes away too much of my peripheral vision than I'm comfortable with.
Quick question related to the weapons rather than the gameplay, why do the characters turn their weapon to the side before ejecting the magazine? I've never seen or heard of this (8:10 is where it happens)
One reason to like the SUSAT is that it is 4x zoom just like the ACOG. So when you can't take the ACOG due to squad restrictions, you still have 4x option available. I find myself far more likely to play the 2nd medic when on the British team, instead of hoping some other sucker do it XD.
when running the susat increasing your zero allows you to aim lower on on standing targets. i found that to be effective however prone targets can be a pain
thank you for all the videos you're doing a very good job. i'm a f*****g huge battlefield fan since the first one ( 1942 ). since battlefield 2 ( the best fps ever made ) , battlefield 3 and battlefield 4 are dead , i'm looking for an alternative that is not as bad as Arma , and very close to battlefield for when battlefield 5 will die. so my question is , is there/will there be conquest mode in SQUAD ?
Yes there are you have to move from objective to objective though. That means that the first one you have to cap is the one near your base then you move to the next then the next you can’t just skip and objective
I think you’d like squad. It does also have Territory control mode and invasion which I find are often quite fast paced and a bit more like battlefield. It’s an awesome game and I came from playing battlefield and Arma, Battlefield 4 was definitely my favourite one. If that’s your sort of thing I think you’ll adapt quite well (emphasis on adapt as it is not as simple and is very tactical)
I love how you can be right beside a enemy and cap him without him even noticing, and i could be in a ghili suit in a bush and stick my big toe out for a split second, and ill get clapped from 400m by a guy shooting full auto with 150 trees between us..
Full auto is like having a dog,you don’t need it until you do,can be unpredictable, but makes you more confident and other people scared. Also don’t just go for headshots unless you have no choice
I just picked this up and am looking forward to playing tonight. Quick question from the noob; do you unlock more attachments for weapons/vehicles etc as you rank up or is everything unlocked from the beginning? can you customize the look of your soldier at all?
It’s preset load outs and all characters are pretty much the same for each team as the others have said, you’ve probably played and gathered it by now but RUclips videos are your best bet for getting a hang of the game before you play.
Susats are normally restricted to training and non combat roles now wear as infantry all use lds now and that’s good but my opinion is both are good and accurate when collimated correctly
Can someone tell me how to fix missing and broken ground textures cause its really ruining my gameplay experience? You could just see rocks and plants and grass floating 2 inches off the ground :(
I feel useless as a rifleman. There is always another kit available. Unless you're stuck with a irons RPK-74M, that thing is garbage when compared to the versatility of an ammo bag.
I agree and disagree. Are RPK-74M with our insights is pretty damn effective for a suppressive fire in general. I took out whole squads and we were fighting Canada on a mountainous map.
@@seventythreedavid it's the 45rnd mag I have an issue with. Having a bipod is awesome, but you can't suppress as effectively as a M249 or RPK with a 70rnd drum.
@@omarrp14 absolutely it's a hindrance so I stick to 2-3 round bursts and only full auto when suppressing. The one thing it's great for us firing and maneuvering pretty quickly. Good mobility on that class at least.
For the Americans, I just can’t do the iron sight M4a1, 1) no american soldier would have irons in the modern era and 2) they are just weird to use vs the red dot. Plus I actually decently with recoil handling in tight quarters.
I think the best by far is the m4 and A1.The fastest killing time from all the rifles and has the acog. I’d put the canadian rifle too but I don’t really like their sights.
The G3 has the best kill time although I agree the M4 has a nice feel to it, my biggest problem with the G3 is the sound, it doesn’t sound like it has as much recoil as it does and therefore i struggle to anticipate so much when spraying. Slowly getting the hang of it and it’s a very good rifle. The ACOG on the M4 is very nice and simple to use however for me I can’t not love the Canadian sight, I like the simple line and to be honest I’ve never realised it is out of whack a little as I’m always aiming for centre of mass to land as many as poss, probably why they drop so quick lol.
BillyBallsack if all bodies die with 2 rounds to the torso then m4 has fastest time to kill because it shoots faster than the g3 no matter how much damage it does as long as it doesn’t kill in one shot.
Its a worse mg kit. The only problem with the mg is the tracers you leave behind allowing the entire enemy team to shoot you. But why shoot one target at a time? When you can whipe half a squad without the risk of missing your shot.
@@someonespotatohmm9513 it's the difference between a hammer and a scalpel. i play both and they play nothing alike, two very very different kits, with different intents.
My biggest issue with the game is the lack of Zoom on all the infantry weapons. 4x scopes feel like 2x or even 1.5x scope this also applies to Snipers and marksman, i often have to squint or get closer to the screen just to see enemy's at all. I play on a gaming Laptop and Ive tried changing the FOV but that does nothing to help. Squad is the only game with this Issue.
it's because the FOV doesn't change much when you zoom so unlike real life (and by coincidence other games) your entire field of view isn't of the scope but of the surroundings (which i guess is more accurate but you can't simulate optics or iron sights well in games)
I've never thought of using the militia M4 to confuse American soldiers, and it's crazy since when I play as US vs RGU/Militia/INS I'm always consciously listening for AK shots. thank you for all the videos you're doing a very good job.
i'm a f*****g huge battlefield fan since the first one ( 1942 ).
since battlefield 2 ( the best fps ever made ) , battlefield 3 and battlefield 4 are dead , i'm looking for an alternative that is not as bad as Arma , and very close to battlefield for when battlefield 5 will die.
so my question is , is there/will there be conquest mode in SQUAD ?
Yes there are you have to move from objective to objective though. That means that the first one you have to cap is the one near your base then you move to the next then the next you can’t just skip and objective
If your a battlefield fan like I am trust me you’ll love squad
I think you’d like squad. It does also have Territory control mode and invasion which I find are often quite fast paced and a bit more like battlefield. It’s an awesome game and I came from playing battlefield and Arma, Battlefield 4 was definitely my favourite one. If that’s your sort of thing I think you’ll adapt quite well (emphasis on adapt as it is not as simple and is very tactical)
@@txylor7288 thanks. ill try to get the money to buy it ( no free trial sucks big balls )... took me months to buy BF5 lol.
br4inl3ss_tv it’s worth it, atleast on steam you have two weeks and 2 hours to get a full refund
Hey, I enjoyed your stream yesterday! (Mattphs)
Thanks for hanging, glad you liked it!
I love how you can be right beside a enemy and cap him without him even noticing, and i could be in a ghili suit in a bush and stick my big toe out for a split second, and ill get clapped from 400m by a guy shooting full auto with 150 trees between us..
I’ve played a thousand hours, if there in no HAT/LAT, I’ll go Rifleman.
I run rifleman alot, i never get asked to build or drive logiruns :D That is the only time a marksman can be usefull, so why not make him do it?
What about the best settings for aiming?
Full auto is like having a dog,you don’t need it until you do,can be unpredictable, but makes you more confident and other people scared. Also don’t just go for headshots unless you have no choice
Can you do a combat engineer guide
I just picked this up and am looking forward to playing tonight. Quick question from the noob; do you unlock more attachments for weapons/vehicles etc as you rank up or is everything unlocked from the beginning? can you customize the look of your soldier at all?
Everything is preset and you cannot customize your looks
I prefer this as it comes down to player skill
@@AnubisGamez Same it also makes every kit feel useful to the team rather than the individual player
It’s preset load outs and all characters are pretty much the same for each team as the others have said, you’ve probably played and gathered it by now but RUclips videos are your best bet for getting a hang of the game before you play.
@@txylor7288 yea really liking it so far.
I wish they had gone with the EXPS3 instead of the XPS3. Getting the reticle above the front sight makes a difference.
Susats are normally restricted to training and non combat roles now wear as infantry all use lds now and that’s good but my opinion is both are good and accurate when collimated correctly
good guide bro
Never played squad before but i got to ask if there's a melee in squad
Yes
@@omarrp14 just fire 2 mags lol
For the Americans, I just can’t do the iron sight M4a1, 1) no american soldier would have irons in the modern era and 2) they are just weird to use vs the red dot. Plus I actually decently with recoil handling in tight quarters.
Can you do a medic guide?
You should play with Shruod 👍🏽
Assault compound> stand behind wall> get out supplies bag>
Proceed to grenade spam the fuck out of the inside of the compound!!
Are you able to change the color of the radical in the red dot and acog? I'm new to the game and my eyes can't use them at all.
rifleman in a nutshell: tell people who aren't medic or hat/lat to fuck off cuz you aren't there to top off their ammo
whos new must Watch this
If I Install/purchase the game I will try to stick this kit
if the money is not a problem, do it without a second thought. its so much better that any other game its insane.
@@hallu9438 then how many squad costs , comrade?
@@critical035iraqiops5 28 euros for now, its 25% off.
@@hallu9438 well I don't have a PC
Its a great game and all kits are fun. Rifleman first though is always a good idea
can you make a video on why you don´t like the marksman kit so i can prove you wrong? :)
@@harveyknguyenreal life scopes are bigger in your eye than squad makes it seem
@@urgamecshk lmao why did you reply to a two year old clmment
Question: when my gameplay lags when opponents are near, is my internet connection the problem or my computer
It could be either
Can you up the fore grip and acog sight on the m4 or is it only iron sight and without acog ? Can you customize your rifle ?
American SL's have the ACOG foregrip with full auto capabilities. Absolutely love running it.
MoiDawg ah ok so you can’t add any attachments to guns. I didn’t know that
@@HotSizzleTV_ yeah you're stuck with the attachments the kit loadout gives you
Are the bullets fired from the barrel or the sights?
