God just the inclusion of a real suppression system completely changes everything, and makes it so much more immersive and intense as well as realistic of course (in terms of limits to movement and maneuvers). Cannot wait for this to hit main branch, basically not played squad in over a month waiting on this release.
Ditto. Been wanting to return to Squad for a little bit now, but felt it best to come back to an overhaul. In the meanwhile, Battlebit is cute, but I'm getting itchy.
I just started playing squad and I have to disagree. This fascination with "realism" is out of hand. Your screen going black when shot at is so ridiculous.
@drewskiiiii_ its not a fascination with realism its actually a desire to see game mechanics encourage more enjoyable gameplay, more teamwork and less "every rifleman is a sniper on PSP who isn't scared of death" style that most shooters have and squad has it too. I understand if you are new to the game and especially if you come from other shooters but this game is about teamwork first and foremost, and the need to carry out suppressive fire when assaulting and all the other things the overhaul encourages are good for everyone. Gameplay is helped by encouraging more thoughtful gameplay and more need for team communication.
@XXLpeanuts I have plenty of hours in similar shooter games but as a military veteran, and other vets share this opinion as well, some of the "realistic" things implemented in video games are just silly and don't really offer anything to the experience. The example I gave about my whole screen going black is just one example. For instance, two soldiers enter a room, both engage each other, the whole screen goes black, vision comes back and the guy is laying on the ground dead. It's just silly. My two cents.
@drewskiiiii_ i hear you but sadly games are not real life so you have to encourage gameplay that pushes players to use more realistic tactics. So you have bunny hopping around corners or slow and steady clearing. How do you push your average player into the latter? By discouraging charging into a room.
FYI, If you zero the RPK to 400 meters, the rounds end up hitting right between the sharpest point of the outer blades of the front sight post. It's a bit hard to describe in text, but draw a line connecting the 2 inner semi-circles that are the outer blades of the front sight post, and that's exactly where the bullets will land at 100m. It's a very COD like sight picture, but it allows you to aim without the front sight post and rear notch obscuring what you're trying to hit. You can achieve a similar effect on the ak74m by zeroing it to 500m . Head to the range and try it out!
This is because the AK74 rifles are ranged for 440 meters. It was considered an effective zero for close combat all the way to 600 meters without having to adjust the sight. The soldier simply had to hold a bit below or a bit higher.
most of things yeah, but not all. Not exactly compared to realistic feel. The SAW is still with a lot of recoil, just like RPK, but their size should outweigh the recoil by a large margin which game fails to replicate. perhaps in the future tho
Holy shit Nikolai!! Talk about coming out swinging! You were absolutely wrecking shop there at the beginning! Most intense video I’ve seen on squad in awhile man! KICK ASS CONTENT!!
I wonder if they would give Australians the ability to cycle between 1x and 4x on the Elcan Specter scope, they could still balance it out by giving it a mediocre eye relief(Just like in real life, even on 1x setting, the eye relief is still atrocious)
In order to see through an optic sight you need to have your eye positioned in front of it and focused properly, so that means that you have to keep your head at a certain distance from the sight, the general area at which the sight is usable is called eye relief. if the sight eye relief is small then you would have less positions from which you can aim, and specter being a prism optic sight has very small eye relief which makes it hard to use.
@@comediangj4955 true, bf sucks compared to squad, just tried to say that squad is mostyly running through the map just to get killed by a sniper in the bush.
Realistic imho since there is a video of a Russian running to Ukrainians thinking it’s his squad mates also happens to me sometimes especially when you see friendlies up ahead but there is a enemy squad in the building between the 2 friendly squads
What is missing is collision of rifles with walls, so that shorter rifles actually have the advantage when peeking around corners etc. ...wasn't that in the game at some point? Or maybe i saw it in some other game. But i think it would enhance the experience even further.
super useful tip if you open the command map (caps lock by default) and click the gear wheel on the top right then select the 4th option from the top it shows the class of everyone on the map its super nice to be able to find a medic or riflemen instantly

Real suppression is going to be huge. Smoke will no longer be the only viable way to move forward through dangerous cross sections or open terrain. Now with effective suppressing fire from Machine Gunners or vehicle support, you could very well push forward on foot through suppression. Having more effective means to move forward as infantry to help avoid getting picked off by someone you cant see super far away with a rifle in one shot. They likely will miss more often but most importantly. If they do happen to take one man out in a team, the rest can fire near that attacker and suppress to allow the others to get to safety or even revive. I think more changes like this will help a lot.
I've been away from Squad for over a year. Probably 2 years by now. If they push this update, and the community becomes team work oriented and gets less casual, I'll join back. Otherwise, there's no reason for me to
