Bought this last week. As an infantry veteran with multiple Iraq deployments, I’ll tell you that for those without combat experience this is the closest thing I’ve ever played. I remember getting anxiety and having to take frequent breaks when BF4 came out, although it’s arcade-ish it had a similar feel that’s hard to explain. I cannot stop playing this game. My in game skills are pretty weak but feel like I have enough tactical experience that I’ve been able to provide somn to the squads I’ve been in. Send me a reply if you’re interested in teaming up!
One tip I'd add for LAT and HAT players, conserve your ammo. A Hip or a Blackhawk is a juicy target, but not an immediate threat to infantry. A BMP, Bradley or Warrior is a juicy target that can annihilate your team, it's better to arrive at a tankfight with enough ammo to either track it or mobility kill it rather than to take out a heli that poses no immediate threats to your infantry.
Yeah great tip! No sense is trying the hail marry shot on a chopper if ammo isn't readily available. The only time I'll encourage a shot on a chopper is if the player has the US AT4, which one shots choppers, or if the chopper is close and completely static. Definitely better to save your shots for enemy armor in 95% of scenarios.
My biggest annoyance is the medics that’ll heal you from behind and deliberately put their hand through your face from behind (possible to get shot from the person you’re healing)
I know this is a 2 year old video, but I am really appreciative of the helpful tips! 128.20 Hours Best tip: Barbed Wire indicated the engine. Ever since I learned that tip my game has elevated to a new level, growing my confidence to a new level. Keep up the awesome content!
Here’s a tip for someone with 300+ hrs. Trust the sights, the recoil may seem very high, but as long as you drag down your mouse equally to the recoil, you’ll hit your mark. Even if the sight isn’t in the picture
Good tips! I have 200+ hours and liked the tip about smoke usage. Lots of folks use it incorrectly. For me personally, I don’t aim for headshots unless I know I can hit it. Otherwise, center mass is what I go for since it’s a bigger target to aim at. They taught us this in the Marines and I never really got away from it. Irl you’d puncture a lung, hit the chest, even snap a hip. Most guns are 2 body shots to get down an enemy in Squad or 1 body 2 arm shots. The G3 is a 2 shot down regardless of location in game. (Don’t quote me 100% lol)
New Squad player here, thank you for the video! Giving me lots to think about, Squad is my new favourite game because team play is essential to the core gameplay and lone wolves don't get very far (for the most part).
1:40 this is so disgustingly true. The amount of people I see lay down trying to get down a hillside/mountain is ridiculous... Any lateral movement makes you 90% less likely to get shot unless you're running up on someone within a couple hundred meters
One more tip: When you catch enemy squad passing you by or flanking it, choose the order of engagement wisely: basically start shooting them from those ones who are in a blind zone of others. For example start from those who runs behind everybody else and nobody gonna see his death and your traces. This will give you precious moment before you start taking return fire. And another one tip: Helicopters shouldn't make supply runs to frontline FOBs in vicinity of active objectives. Instead of that they should saturate with resources currently safe FOBs where they can hover or land without risk of being down. Also a good style is when one of squads with logie truck places well positioned (FOB radius includes plain field for helies landing and reaches a road) resource FOB (sole radio) in the beginning of a match on their way to objective. So squads can make much shorter supply runs with their logie trucks to that FOBs instead all the way back to Main. Thus helies will stay alive and doing their job, logie trucks will be used instead of being abandoned and the team itself will have enough resources to win the match against less organized enemy.
I started winning more firefights now by hip firing at close range then always aiming down sights. Habit from other shooters. A lot of great tips thank you for making this video!
If you arch a grenade throw high enough, then you get an airburst effect. Its extremely useful when the enemy is close but there is a lot of microterrain like rocks, walls, or dips in the ground that will tank the damage. Pair that knowledge with a riflemans bag and it gets fun. Without an optic you get 2 grenades that you can throw in rapid sucession. Tons of mag reloads or 12 grenades, 11 with optic, is why rifleman is my favorite class. Im 3800+ hours in and still hooked on the game.
I have 1500 hours in Squad and this is one of the best videos i have seen. Really good tips and tricks. It a comes with experience guys. I learned so much by playing the game, so much that i could make a video as long as a day:) awesome video
3:22 that's something that drives me insane, too. Even if the downed player is hassling you to get them up, you need to clear first. Otherwise, you are just compromising both your tickets by not making it safe for revive. And how people play medics is so irritating. Yes, medics have a gun, and, some factions' medics also have a grenade. But you're the quickest healer of your squad. Leave the bulk of the shooting and clearing to the actual riflemen.
Its probably the thing I've said the most as my go to first tips for players. Also working on a medic guide right now to hopefully alleviate some of that headache.
These Tips are great. Thank God I already played HLL. Knowing when not to Bandage is something you can only learn by playing. I'm pretty glad that holding fire at time, checking surroundings before reviving or just being aware of downed friendlies in general are things that are self-explanatory to me.
after 2 elected terms overseas, and much battle action I returned from norway. I was filled with and rage and bodily fluids. I felt like my life was lacking the rush I got from the trenches. When I load up this game on low graphics and 60fps it takes me back to those times. I never imagined I’d be able to relive the past so realistically.
Only logged 21 hours and its still feeling somewhat alien - my biggest issue was movement and never seeing an actual enemy, id be shot from seemingly nowhere and not get a chance to do anything. recently its started getting better which is prideful however now i just gotta practice my accuracy especially at long ranges. thanks for the tips though - will definitely help out much
I'm still pretty new but what helped me was picking a medic class and running around with Bino's just spotting enemies and I started improving and finding them and killing them once I switched back to the rifle.
Awesome video dude. Each one of these was something that I was doing incorrectly (or not at all). I’d be happy to get those kills at 5:00 in a whole match, never mind 20 seconds of gameplay!
Don't need aim in squad, just a bigger brain than the enemy. I average between 10-20 kills a game, best advice I can give is stop being scared. Stand up, tell your squad to push or flank with you, and go get some kills. Too many times I see whole squads just sitting in 1 area taking pot shots and not moving at all. This is a great way to get nothing done and die.
Thank you! Its one of the biggest tips that I'm always repeating. If you just take the extra time to clear the area you can make sure one downed friendly doesn't turn into more.
Thank you! Glad I could help you out! Yeah I plan on covering all the kits. Got a few videos in the pipeline before automatic weapons, but I have started on the script for the video already.
369h played. Hip shooting. That's what i need to practice. I always make the mistake on close quater fights that i try to pull up the sights. Thanks for that tip.
I have 263 hours in the game and the best one from your tips is the smoke toward the enemy and asking where the enemy is at from a down person. I do keep low when there is just one of me and three enemies and I could not put it in any better words than what you said about it
I don't get it, how do you position yourself and shoot 2-3 different guys without getting return fire into oblivion in a fraction of a second. When I try this I get dinged after the first trigger press lol
200hrs and Im still pretty garbage, but the best way to improve your game and your squads game is to be the guy who asks questions and makes suggestions. When you get those squads where nothing is being said, ask if it would be a good idea to get a hab down, or if they think a compound is safe, or anything, and keep asking questions. If a squad leader is quiet, it doesn't matter how good he is at the game, no one knows what he wants and if it goes bad odds are good you'll blame each-other. But if everyone's asking questions, or knows what they're working towards and you get wiped you get wiped together not because of [XXX]. Playing SL should just be planning and communicating with other SLs. Keeping the squad together is the role of a good foot logi (rifleman). if you run 3 blocks to rearm a LAT then ask him for cover so you can rearm the medic after he gets someone up, all with sly peer pressure. Once half of you are in one spot the others will almost always fold in onto you, even without asking. But if you say your willing to wait 30 seconds for them to catch up once, for the rest of the game they'll try and stay together. Dont let the SL heard cats, do it yourself with psychology.
Nice video. But what should you do if you are on the open top of building, or hill, and the smokes that you are gonna throw far are not going to obstruct enemy vision?
Nice vid. Something so satisfying about getting headshots in Squad lol. I need to hit the gun range to hear how the different AR's sound also need an overview of the different faction camo as its hard to distinguish sometimes... You use discord or have a favorite server??
It may sound tacky but with my current system and monitor my fps is less than desirable and it’s hard to spot enemies. But once I get my hands on a new setup I’ll be grinding as much squad as possible! I love the game and have had it since V6, but funnily enough I’ve never been good at it.
Damn, the medic part hits pretty nicely. TOO MANY times they would just look at me as a medic or somebody else as a medic when being healed I know Im attractive and all but maybe that enemy would not have the same idea that killed you in the first place, idk why they do that, staring at you as you revive them... A form of gratitude when they dont use or have a mic perhaps? Shit's weird
Hey! I have an intro to squad leading, advanced squad leading, and a commander guide all planned! I'll keep truckin' and get them out as soon as I can!
Any tips for groups of new players? I got the game along with 3 other buddies and the issue we have most is finding a squad with space because none of us are experienced enough to play squad leader yet. Side note people dont like when you form a squad and drop the leader on someone else. One of us has expressed interest in learning the role but we just wanna learn the game first. Great video ez like sub xoXO
Thank you! If you are having trouble all getting into one squad I recommend you split off into twos. I know you guys probably don't want to split up, but then you guys will have a greater chance of having experienced players in your squad that you can learn from. Don't be afraid to ask questions during down time in game. Also you can all join an empty server on the testing range and get some practice with different weapons and mechanics together that you can bring with you into the game.
All of the tips where usefull to be honest, I am still pretty guilty of throwing smoke next to you and going prone when getting shot at. I currently have about 250 hours Thanks for the tips!
As someone that started almost a week ago -Sometimes i cant understand Sls because either they are talking gibberish/too fast -I can pinpoint enemy engagements at a longer range, but can never pinpoint enemies firing at me. -Literally a feeling that i get when i spot an enemy that they are a friendly (My game is too dark for some reason so all i see is a shadow sometimes) -People screaming in my ear (Not at me but jesus some people like their mics so much they literally breathe down on it)
_it happens, try to go yourself to SL and it's a hard thing to do, just try to tell him you don't understand _the trick to know where you are getting shot from is after the crack of the bullet over you, you'll here the weapon sound, it sounds something like PSH!..bam, use your freelook key and your compass to track the sound _pump up your brightness _you can always lower the local voice chat sound
thanks for the videos. you're helping me getting into the game. I have a question about weather effects. it sometimes looks like you have different weather on the same maps. how so?
I think a lot of people at least a lot of people I know that play Squad lay down for one reason and one reason only. We expect Squad to be a military sim and to us that means realism and those of us who actually were prior military especially those of us that were in combat zones frequent enough we were all told to lay down making ourselves a small target to hit. It also allows us to be harder seen by other enemies at range. But in Squad this doesn't work against more veteran players 9 times out of ten because they know 1. We are not dead. 2. We are now still and easier to be hit as a still target. And 3. Tracking is a whole lot easier in a video game than in a real world situation where you should never dial down on one individual target for long periods of time because there is always the fear of the unknown and the surrounding that could have other enemies looking at you while you are focused on one specific small arms idiot doing nothing.
As much as everything you said being true, people lay down immediately in Squad because they panic and have no idea where shots are coming in from, so they think getting low in the answer. In many situations it is the right call, but many inexperienced players don't recognize where they are and what sight-lines enemies may have on them so they lay down still in plain sight and are finished off easily.
Another thing to consider is what you're seeing. But not line of sight. Real world's graphics. A player might think they're blending in, or are hidden in the shadows, but the person shooting at them dialed their graphics all the way down to nothing just to get an advantage in these situations.
Lol fired my MG into a house. Oh, the house fired back. How about that. Move further back. Some idiot comes to investigate my last spot. Rakataka. Rins and repeat. :)
Currently there's no way to join a server within a party of friends. You basically all join the same server and then one of you can create a squad and invite the others or you all just join the same squad. Hope this helps.
I have a lot of my stuff on high or epic. Seeing playing in this game is really tough when first starting out regardless of settings. I always recommend what I was taught in the military, which is to scan for targets from right to left, or whatever the opposite way you read. This will help you catch more things that don't belong like enemy players.
Haha yeah the second I see someone going for an underhand toss, I wish I could take the smoke and chuck it. Never hurts to explain the reasoning in a fight though. It's sometimes a bit hard to hear, but to a lot of people its never occurred to them.
As long as you listen to your Squad Leader and don't mic spam you shouldn't have any issues. Yes, some people will point it out, but some of the people I play with on a weekly basis are 10-15 years old and they're great to have in the squad. If someone makes fun of you don't let it get you down. There's plenty of squad players that would be more than happy to have you in their squad.
Of course! I'm always playing with viewers when streaming so hop in chat sometime! Playing some other games currently, but I'll be making my way back around to Squad.
Just bought this game, I have maybe 4 hours total, and I need lots of videos like this. I've spent most of those 4 hours wandering around the woods.

As someone who plays medic frequently, thank you for the “don’t look at the medic” tip.
Had to throw that in there! Too many people want to lock eyes.
i will look dead at the medic while he heals me because its love
Also, as I appreciate the "thanks" it's not required.
I'm just doing my job.

For a tactical fps they really need to fix the dropping of a building and vaulting. That is crazy lol.
As someone that started almost a week ago
-Sometimes i cant understand Sls because either they are talking gibberish/too fast
-I can pinpoint enemy engagements at a longer range, but can never pinpoint enemies firing at me.
-Literally a feeling that i get when i spot an enemy that they are a friendly (My game is too dark for some reason so all i see is a shadow sometimes)
-People screaming in my ear (Not at me but jesus some people like their mics so much they literally breathe down on it)
_it happens, try to go yourself to SL and it's a hard thing to do, just try to tell him you don't understand
_the trick to know where you are getting shot from is after the crack of the bullet over you, you'll here the weapon sound, it sounds something like PSH!..bam, use your freelook key and your compass to track the sound
_pump up your brightness
_you can always lower the local voice chat sound
Now I can disable a mrap with AK. Thank you
Great vid mate!
Thank you!
thanks for the videos. you're helping me getting into the game. I have a question about weather effects. it sometimes looks like you have different weather on the same maps. how so?
Glad I could help you out! Maps have different layers and those layers have differing weather conditions.
How did you manage to soom in so far with that scope? 1:50
Lol fired my MG into a house. Oh, the house fired back. How about that. Move further back. Some idiot comes to investigate my last spot. Rakataka. Rins and repeat. :)
Yes
thanks
Very nice
Thank you!
haha i like that not looking at the medic healing you is an "intermediate" skill
Haha yeah you would think it would be a given, but the amount of people that lock eyes with the medic is insane.
How do you join with friends or invite friends?
Currently there's no way to join a server within a party of friends. You basically all join the same server and then one of you can create a squad and invite the others or you all just join the same squad. Hope this helps.
@@Gorlami14 I see. It helps a lot, thank you.
should i not use full auto?
"Bait out the medic, then your enemy has one less reviver."
Hahaha warcrime go brrr
We call those "Geneva Suggestions" around here ;)
What's your graphics settings? I am struggling with seeing players. My gpu ix 2060.
I have a lot of my stuff on high or epic. Seeing playing in this game is really tough when first starting out regardless of settings. I always recommend what I was taught in the military, which is to scan for targets from right to left, or whatever the opposite way you read. This will help you catch more things that don't belong like enemy players.
Helpful
Glad I could help!
Can you still disable the engine of an mrap with firearms? I've tried this a couple times and I can't seem to get it to work.
Nope they patched it.
@@Gorlami14 ah shit. I literally charged the side of an mrap trying to disable the engine not long ago.
Wait what ? Wheres that shoot house ive done the boot camp 3 times ?
On the East side! Just North of the HAB and Radio area where it explains the two.
For the love of God, I wish more people had common sense when using smoke nades. SMOKE THEM, NOT US
Haha yeah the second I see someone going for an underhand toss, I wish I could take the smoke and chuck it. Never hurts to explain the reasoning in a fight though. It's sometimes a bit hard to hear, but to a lot of people its never occurred to them.
yeah so how do you manage to have only 425 subscribers?
Just getting started out on YT. Still trying to find my space. I appreciate the praise man!
Remember us, you're gonna go big! ;) Keep it professional man!

i have 1 hour in squad

Dead bodies attract more dead bodies
Exactly!
I guess the game doesn't suck im just garbage
i have a microphone but im scared they will make fun of me cuz im still a kid ;-;
@@Gorlami14 thanks for your advice!
but sometimes i wanna look into the medics eyes and fantasize a romantic tale between us
Shit can we play sometime?😂
Of course! I'm always playing with viewers when streaming so hop in chat sometime! Playing some other games currently, but I'll be making my way back around to Squad.
Not this kid playing like it’s cod 🤢
