  • It snowed heavily yesterday so it seemed like a good opportunity to try how my Lexus IS 200 is performing in such bad conditions.
Car is completely stock Sport model (lowered suspension, torsen LSD) with K&N sport air filter.
Tyres are Nexen Winguard Sport 215/45/r17

Unreal control. Feels like you have a death wish but good on you for holding it at that speed.

Nice driving! Getting new alloys with Nexen winguard sport tyres fitted this Friday (205/40R17) to my Fiesta ST. I’ll be very grumpy if it doesn’t snow this year

Thanks! I think you'll be happy with new tyres, they're good for the money

Hi, nice video and great car control! Sorry for those at the end...
May I ask, how does the car perform overall in winter, being RWD? And, from stop, is it able to climb on hills (from normal roads) like the FDW cars as well (at least slowly but getting there)?

Hi, thanks for comment. I'm going uphill for the whole video and the car handles nicely but if I would stop, I would have serious problems to get the car moving. I think every RWD car has problems on snowy hills, I got stuck few times but I think it was mainly because I use 17 inch tyres. I'm pretty sure I would have more grip with 16inch tyres. We usually have snow only for few days in a year, so there's no point for me to run 16 inch tyres

Hello again. Thank you for your quick response. Reason for asking is that I am interested in this model, which comes in 18 inch tyres , and we do have 2 months of snow here (at least 4-8 weeks). And I needed to know if using dedicated good winter tyres would help avoiding the issue when getting the car moving when uphill. All the best

I can't really tell, I never drove IS200 with 18 inch winter tyres but I think it's not a good idea to have such big wheels for winter.

Is200 Sports has a LSD backed by a Snow Mode function which reduces torque plus Traction Control ..he won't be able to drive that fast in a normal IS200 SE. ..

@@TheMuzikall I dunno dude, i see the trc off icon on display whole time, so he controls the situation just by his foot. :)
