I bought the X100F right when it was announced and used it daily for a little over a year for personal as well as paid photo shoots. I brought it everywhere, vacations, kids baseball, when I’d shoot a wedding, family photo shoots... everything, and it’s an amazing camera. Even though I sold it, I’d consider this to be my favorite camera of all time. For paid shoots, I loved carrying around the X100F and my D750 with 70-200. That combo, a small 35 and a 70-200, is such an amazing combination - I can do anything with that pair. Also, only using 1 focal length for all my personal photos for an entire year brought a consistency to all my photos that was fantastic.
I ended up selling the X100F because I had redundancy around the 28/35mm focal length, and the Fujifilm colors (while amazing) were inconsistent with my Nikon cameras. So when delivering photos to a client, there was an inconsistency with images coming from the Fuji and coming from the Nikon (not one is better than the other, it’s just they are both different enough for clients to notice). More than any other camera I’ve owned, I’ve missed the X100F the most. :)

Just a heads up for you guys..I had the X100S and loved it for street but after my kids got a bit older it couldn’t keep up with them. So I’d heard that if you send it in to Fuji (and say it needs repair...I said the clicky-wheel wasn’t responsive) they’d swap it for an X100F for around $400. Well, it worked...and I love this thing! Wish it was the V but I just couldn’t pass up the value of this deal.

I have an x100F and shot with it for a couple of years. It had it's flaws (EVF that wasn't great with glasses, dinky, but well placed controls, and I wouldn't call the shutter action crisp), but I stuck a thumb grip on and loved the camera. After about 22,000 shots the focus started acting up, and was quoted $900 CDN to repair by Fuji. Of course, this was just outside of the warranty period. I passed on the offer, but in hindsight, I'll send it back in to get it fixed - I really did like it. Hard for me to decide on what's next. I've been shooting with a Nikon Z50 - in my mind an under-rated camera as the 16-50 zoom is stellar for street and travel, if ugly (hey, esthetics matter). Have my eye on a few options, but I'm not sure what's next.

Aloha!! Glad you dig them. The Big Island was one of the most welcoming places I ever visited. I instantly felt at home there, I would go back in a heartbeat. Also, loco mocos. Jeez. The best.

Really good review, thanks for going through everything. Camera preference and styles change over time. So I guess I have to ask myself do I sell my Cannon 80D to buy yours camera, hmmm. The 80D is a good camera but big enough I leave it at home more than I would like

I love my F. I have the black one and the paint has worn off nicely where my hand holds it. You nailed all the pros and cons perfectly. I don’t use video at all, so I can’t comment but trust your assessment. Funny story… My nickname in grade school was Sweet Lou. LOL! Great vid.
The X100S was my entry drug into the Leica world. I still have it and love it. The X100 series is one of the best camera systems of the recent past. Fuji created something truly remarkable. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
That's sick to hear. Believe it or not, I've never used a modern Leica. I have a really ancient one that barely works hahahaha. Gotta try one, I'm sure I'd love it (though my bank account prob won't lol)

Awesome video! I just picked up a used x100f (I think it was the store's display model). Practically brand new! I do have one question though, is the thumb stick on the back of the camera rather "loose" feeling? Mine has a lot of play and doesn't feel super "clicky." I'm just wondering if that is how the camera comes normally or if it's just my camera. Thanks!

How has the silver paint job held up for you? Does it scratch easily? I have the black version and I notice the black paint can be scratched fairly easily so I can see the brass body color underneath it. If the silver is scratched, is the body brass colored as well or silver underneath?

I have an X100, the original. I absolutely love it, but I am not sure if it is worth upgrading to the s, t, or f (I can’t afford the v). Any advice?
This video made me miss my Fujifilm X1F. But it had a common wiring problem with how the zoom on it works, so I can't really use it... I loved it when I could use it. Always wanted to try the X100F though, they do look fantastic. If I had one it'd probably always be on me, too. Right now that's my GX85 and a pancake lens.
Would love to know your thoughts if you get your hands on one!!

I had a dream the other night where my dog picks up my poop instead of the other way around.
In your high ISO test, the 25,600 ISO image looked the best. This is because ISO doesn't cause image noise. Underexposure (of aperture and shutter speed) causes image noise. Your test unintentionally demonstrated this quite well. So it was weird that you made a cringing sound at the image that actually looked the best - did you really not notice?

There's nothing I don't like about my x100f, I have had it for the past 3 years now and still not able to take out the most out of it. And to be honest, x100v didn't excite me enough to switch.
Got the 100F for a couple of weeks now. Keep finding myself saying should have brought my A7C instead. Oh well, you still have your iPhone to save the situation…

Its a love /hate relationship for me. The one thing that bothers me the most is the raw files... they are NOT easy to mold into something likeable, its the like inherent contrast of the raw files is like 3 times higher than any other normal raw file, so most of the work is about trying to get the extreme high contrast down to a normal level.. And, the colors are kinda weird in both ACR and RAW Therapee.. Raw Therapee is lightyears ahead of Adobe when it comes to Fujifilm raw files, but the X100Fs raf's still just boggles my mind with their strangeness 😂
are these photos edited in post or jpeg w/ film simulation? They look amazing
thanks so much-- in review, I definitely should have marked that on screen. Many of the more recent photos are using the film sims, and the older stuff (like Hawaii) are just mild edits in Lightroom-- hope that helps

But everything else is changed. for example i couldn't live without auto iso expo compensation. having wifi is so nice getting those 1/3 increments, better rear screen, and the price difference isn't that big.
I had an X100s. It was FAR superior to the F in that ... it wasn't. But it was super similar and I'd still shoot it now if I didn't sell it somewhat foolishly.
Maybe it'll come back to you one day ;)
