    Picked mine up in brown a few weeks ago. Perfect for family events, travel and car show photos. I'm super fond of the Acros film simulation and R/G/Y filters. I almost got a Lumix 100 Mark ii, but the allure of the fixed 23mm took me back to my film days.

    I couldn't agree more. I own a lot of cameras of different brands and hands down my all time favorite shooting experience is with the X100S. I'm waiting to see what's up with the upcoming one having resisted the X100F. If had to choose one camera for the sheer joy of shooting there is no other choice for me. I'm looking forward to seeing where they take this (hopefully in the same size and form as the long line of X100s)

  • @kellyw7777
    @kellyw7777 5 лет назад +1

    I have to completely agree with Andrew. For the number of extras this camera has in such a small size, it is amazing. If you are on a budget you are probably not carrying an actual camera with an actual sensor around anywhere. I have several Fuji at this point and absolutely love my 16mm f1.4, but it is not an "all the time lense". Hiding the 23 mm lens inside this camera is brilliant. Sony RX series, GRiii, and Canon have alternatives, but smaller sensor or no viewfinder options. A lot of the price here is the hybrid viewfinder. I wish Fuji would make one of these with monochrome sensor and trade out the hybrid viewfinder for cost reduction.

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  5 лет назад

      Monochrome would be a nice alternative. Hardly any additional cost on their end.

    Talking about size, it is not that small. No doubt the image quality is quite good, I would prefer a much smaller camera like the Lumix GX9, the Canon M100 or perhaps the Lumix LX100 Mk2. For my everyday use, I still prefer my Oly TG4 which has performed incredibly well in all weather condition.

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  5 лет назад

      Yea, not the smallest, but when you're used to lugging around a DSLR or larger mirrorless, it's definitely in the small category. And yes, the the Fuji could use weather sealing for sure!

    I've been planning on buying a ranger finder style camera for sometime now... like 5 years... but this camera is the one I did the least amount of research on... I saw maybe like 2 reviews on it from youtube, and I was sold. I was it was on sale at Amazon with a bundle of other accessories I wouldnt like.. or need... so even though id be paying more money.... i walked into my nearest Samy and bought it! I was very happy with my decision. I've found I take more photos throughout my day with this strapped to my wrist than with another PS or SLR rig.. I usually shoot with a center weighted focus... but i'll have to try the wide focus you mentioned. great video!!!

    I think option 2 applies to most people who buy these cameras, I'm sure there are genuine photographers who use them to their full potential but I've seen many sat on tables in trendy coffee shops. (Have to say though it's more of an issue with Leica users than Fuji:).

    Well, to be short ... X100 WILL BE the best daily cam ones Fuji FINALLY makes it *WEATHER-SEALED* and redesigns a generation FIRST lens in order to fit weather sealed body. It has to be a better performed lens for sure! I'd even love it to be a compact 24-50mm zoom, but very well performed (in 35mm film dimensions). Till then it's just a very good one, not the best! _PS. I'd rate AF speed to be OK+ rather than VERY GOOD_ With 24-50 it will be the only camera I do need for daily use) PPS I can't get rid of an idea that X100 is over priced by Fuji.

    I like the look of the Fujifilm X100 series. The price of X100F is way too expensive for me. I can get a full-frame mirrorless body around 2k. In terms of daily use, I think smartphones can get the job done. I bought an used X100s with a leather case for 330 Canadian dollars, and I love it.

    You have a beautiful family..you are blessed. After much research I purchased a Fujifilm X100F camera yesterday..fell in love with it when I examined it at the store. I have two questions though: can I set the lens aperture myself with the camera set for auto operation? I prefer to have some control over depth of field. Also: is there a way I can put a protective filter on the lens (equivalent to a 'UV' or 'haze' filter like I use on my 35 mm film SLR lenses?) Great camera look forward to learning how to get the most out of it.

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  4 года назад

      Thanks, Thomas. Glad you're enjoying the X100F! Yes, you can get the JJC Lens Hood (amzn.to/37quEcZ), which you can screw on a 49mm UV filter (amzn.to/2ZCwHrR). You can then choose the keep the lens hood part on or off. I started w/ the hood on, but then eventually took it off b/c the UV filter was enough for me.
      Regarding the aperture, yes, you can set the aperture on the lens, then put ISO and SS to auto. This gives you "aperture priority".

      I tested out the GRIII but it's too far away from a (traditional) photographer's experience in my opinion and there were too many things I missed so I didn't enjoy it that much. Now I liked that it's discreet (but so is the X100F) and the image quality (not superior to the X100F though).

    I've been using my classic X100 for a few years and I like the points you make. The key point you made for me is the AF, compared to my classic, which searches around a lot for the focusing points, I think I'll just upgrade to the F. The only gripe I really have with this camera, is that it isn't weather sealed as I like to go traveling around and this camera makes it so easy to bring it around compared to lugging something like a 5d. What are your hopes for the next iteration for The X100? I've heard rumblings that it may come in around 2020

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  4 года назад

    I give it up for the lens, but it is still a good camera overall. I'm not the type of person who values image quality the most but the lens from this and the xf23 f2 are a bit disappointing to me, The latter is at least fast for focusing though. It is quite interesting to see fuji using modern tech from x100f to push such an outdated lens. I will wait to see if fuji will update the lens in the future.

      @andrewhkim  3 года назад

      Haven't had a chance to play w/ one, but would love to someday. Aside from the different focal lengths, the pricing is obviously a big factor. it's like driving a nice car in NYC vs a beater...sure one is nice but stresses you out. whereas the beater car is a worry free experience while doing what it needs to do. not that i abuse my x100f by any means. it's just a worry free, but still nice tool. End of the day, everyone has different budgets...go w/ what you can afford, and if it turns out not to be what you want...sell and try something else.

    damn i didnt know that there's aND filter on that small camera , do you know how many stops that ND filter is valued at ? like is the ND cutting 2 stops or 5 ?
    i was thinking if the H2 video camera should have a built in ND filter for video but thought that it would make the camera too big but seen it on this camera makes it seem more plausible very cool review,
    i personally would want to pick it up 2nd hand or see what the next gen of this camera would be.

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  4 года назад +1

      ND Filter is 3 stops. Is there rumors for an ND filter for the X-H2? I think it's a lot easier to put one in the X100 due to the smaller, integrated lens w/ leaf shutter.

    • @JayGrapherTh
      @JayGrapherTh 4 года назад +1

      @@andrewhkim nope no rumors for the H2 just me having fun speculating and coming up with design ideas in my head haha.
      i see, makes sense that a smaller lens will be able to fit a ND easier than a body that has interchangeable lens..
      though i wanna share/curious if camera companies could do what canon did where the body would use the shutter to close and protect the sensor while the user is taking off the lens/changing the lens. seems like a good idea to have the precision ??

    • @andrewhkim
      @andrewhkim  4 года назад +1

      i think the argument against the closed shutter would be that it would make it unusable if it does get damaged. where as the glass over the sensor is arguably "tougher" than the thin shutter curtain (which needs to be thin and light in order to move that fast). so then it would mean you would need a secondary, thicker protective plastic shutter...and by that point, why not just make it an ND filter? 😄

    • @JayGrapherTh
      @JayGrapherTh 4 года назад

      @@andrewhkim exactlyyyy if the H2 as a video camera would benefit to have an internal ND. which also be used as a layer of protection when changing lens.

      The thing about the X100 series is that it’s often difficult to fully appreciate it until you’ve tried the camera body + multiple lens options route. It’s also typically not an ONLY camera. I certainly need more than just the X100F. But as a daily it is my most used camera.
      So with that said, if you need multiple lens options then go w the XT20. You can always sell/pickup/add an X100 down the road when the time is right. Either way there’s no wrong answer.
