I didn't know I needed this camera (Fujifilm X100F review)

  • Let me just say - I didn't know I needed this camera, the Fujifilm X100F, but wow am I so glad I discovered it.
    It's beautiful quality packed into a camera body that you can literally take anywhere. I've had it for 6 months now and I'm just as impressed with it now... maybe more impressed than in the beginning.
    So why do I love the Fujifilm X100F camera?
    * The size. It's perfect to take on any trip. have around the house. It's so simple to pull out and use and that's why I love it. It's just easy to use.
    * The quality. I always enjoy the photos I capture with this camera. The Fujifilm X100F is 24MP so I'm still getting a great image in RAW that I can print if I want to.
    * Fixed lens. It has a fixed 35mm which is one of my favorite focal lengths. The Fujifilm X100F is wide enough for landscapes but not too wide for portraits. It also has macro abilities so you can get pretty close to something and snag a detailed shot. So it's versatile and you're not worried about a bunch of other lenses.
    * Colors and film simulation. The colors are impressive. Skin tones are soft. The bokeh is unique and overall just has more of a film look to it which is really fun. That’s one of my favorite parts of the Fujifilm X100F that separates it from crisp/cleanliness of my Canon R5.
    * Autofocus is good. It doesn't rival any of the new Canons (like my R5) or any other new cameras, but the autofocus really is good enough for an everyday camera. The only time I find it a little tough is when my kids are running around, which can be frequent but it's not a dealbreaker. It just makers you a better photographer.
    How much does the Fujifilm X100F cost?
    * It ranges from $600 for a heavily used one to $1,200 for a like new condition.
    * Now it's a 5 year old camera and it looks like Fujifilm has discontinued production, so you might be able to get a few new ones but I'd highly recommend getting a used one and giving it a try.

    This camera brought me back into taking pictures. I was so bored of taking pictures with my big A7iii with big lenses and felt forced to edit them with photoshop and lightroom. The Fujifilm is bringing me all I need🥰

    These are legitimately the best colors I've seen out of this camera so far! I own one too, and also run Canon mirrorless for "work" cameras. I can relate to this video quite a bit!

    I just got my hands on one of these by happenstance. My DoP was looking to sell it and I took the bait. Tried it for a week first and I fell in love with it. It's such a fun little camera and it is quite versatile. Really looking forward to using it more and more. It's really inspiring me to get back into photography.

      It's easy to fall in love with! Glad it's inspiring you. That's what makes it great. It's a bit quirky at times but that's what makes it fun -- it causes me to worry less about perfection and just enjoy the art of documenting a moment, and enjoy any imperfections.

    I have owned every version of the X100 line and have always purchased it again (used) every time that I sold it off. It’s like a drug 😄
    The last time that I traveled to Tokyo I spent a lot of time roaming the streets with the X100F. It was the perfect camera for Tokyo!
    After selling my X100V earlier this year, I picked up a used X100F again. It definitely is a great tool to document everyday life without getting in the way. 📷

    Loved the look of the images!! Are those straight out of camera with the film emulations or are those your edits?

    • @TrentErwin
      @TrentErwin  Год назад +1

      Thanks! Those are my edits but still shooting in the Astria Soft film emulation. So you can shoot in RAW and edit however you wish or let the emulations come through in just JPGs. I’ve done that for the B&W. Just shoot JPG for those and it looks like film B&W. No post processing needed and they look wonderful.

    • @nelsonclub7722
      @nelsonclub7722 Год назад

      If you have Lightroom you can add the emulations to RAW files before export - also new slider so you can modulate amount of effect - although this applies to all the simulations inc B+W

    @ddaavvee2796 Год назад +3

    There's a lot of videos lining up these same arguments for the X100V and the X100F. It is compact, jpegs are beautiful, sharp glass, etc. And they are right as you are right as well, these are fantastic cameras. But to buy this for family trips and borthdays, because it is small, just doesn't make sense to me. It is too damn expensive for "something to capture moments with". There are point and shoots and phhones for this exact reason. This is not that camera, simply because of the price.

    • @TrentErwin
      @TrentErwin  Год назад +6

      I guess the price is relative based on what you want and what you prefer. Photography is still as much a hobby for me as it is work. I spend money on my hobby because of what it provides and what I need it to be. Just like someone spends $1,000 on a golf club. Doesn’t make sense to me because it’s not my hobby. I would buy the $100 golf club used at a thrift store. Doesn’t mean the $1,000 golf club is too expensive for a hobbyist. It’s relative to them. If there isn’t enough value to you in these Fujifilm cameras to justify the price, that’s fine. It’s relative.
