I'm a filmmaker and photographer based in Tennessee. I'm passionate about filmmaking and photography, teaching others how they can a make living doing what they love, and how to run a successful small business.
I enjoy tech and gear, so I plan to review quite a few things along the way. But I want to keep everything as practical as possible and give you insight into small business, filmmaking and photography. Plus, a little fun along the way.
I'm also a husband and dad of two (hello to any fellow dads out there!) so family is a HUGE part of my life and journey as well.

The One Way I Get More Video/Photo Clients
I honestly don't do a lot of pitching. I try to solve one thing first: friction.
Every client is struggling with something right now. It might be small, but they're struggling. And that's where I step in to help.
Rather than pitching a big video/photo project, I focus on solving their current friction. Once I help them solve that, I have their trust and then I can do a lot from that point.
Honestly, I think a lot of people are losing out on jobs because they're too busy pitching things that clients aren't interested in right now. Creatives are overlooking the friction a client has.

DJI Ronin 4D | First time using the camera

I've always wanted to test the DJI Ronin 4D, I just didn't have a reason to pick it up yet. But now we finally did, and my goodness, I'm very impressed. The camera fits perfectly in my hands. It's so easy to handle. I was able to capture remarkable shots from the start. Much better movement than a typical gimbal. And the camera sensor is very very impressive. The shots are gorgeous in ProPres. ...

no way there’s not a black flag on camera left
There’s not actually, just some dark floors helping
I’ve been doing photography for the last decade. My quality is in the top five out of all the photographers in my town. I’ve always done free shoots because every time ask for any amount of money they go and find a free photographer. Hearing you say I should be charging $150 an hour is absolutely insane to me. I’d be lucky to make $100 for the shoot plus 100 edits. What am I doing wrong?
What niche of photography are you in? It really depends, because yes some niches are a race to the bottom. But other niches people aren’t going with the free option. Like in corporate world. People want to pay for your style, your deliverables, and your expertise. If the people you’re attracting are going with free options, I’m afraid you’re attracting the wrong audience. You need to put your time and attention toward an audience that sees your value and will pay for it.
New subscriber and great content I have a Sony zve-10 camera with the kit lens do you now which size I should buy for moment cinebloom filter . I’m confuse by the size because my kit lens it says 50mm and there’s any size as my kit lens I hope you can help me out please
No Info
It depends on what you want. A blurred entertainment video where almost every frame is unclear when it's paused, or a clear and sharp one which is good for observing details.
Hi! I've read that you used Final Cut to render some clips so you didn't grade it in Resolve. Anyways, how did you grade it? Did you apply only a conversion LUT from RAW to Rec709 or did you apply any other LUTS? I'd just like to know if the look we see in your Image comes straight out of the camera or not. Thanks a lot!
Only a conversion lut on those
@@TrentErwin Cool, thanks
👍
Honest review : they are the same, take the same photos and V is heavier. VI is even heavier.
It is also important to have a good price in order to improve. Setting a good price initially will allow you to get a good quality lens that will make your customers so pleased that they paid for your service, even though you are new to the business side. PS:Only works if you take good shots already.
Unless you're making a production film, shutter speeds mostly DON'T matter much for most shoots. EXCEPT you're gonna get a bunch of KIDS who went to film school on loans (how STUPID is that), telling you off about your settings. Me: Just go get a real job and pay your loans kid!
How do you calculate travel fee if out of town or radius ?
Half day rate + travel costs
I just realized the reason why they match well might be because the XH2s has a 14bit sensor readout in 6k (most prosumer cameras have 12bit) and the c70 has a dual gain sensor
Great video very helpful
What do you think about charging per project? Only reason I'm asking this is because I'm a car photographer and if I'm shooting for a dealership is it better if I charge per car or per hour?
Which lens is this?
SLR Magic microprime
Great Video
hello a have a question about photo delivery how many edited final photos should i provide ? lets say 2 hours wedding photoshoot ? do you give them all unedited photos or just edited photos ?
Very informative. It puzzles me that EVERYBODY talks about the necessity of ND filters and the 180 shutter-rule. Can’t you get as good as a motion blur in post (like Davinci Studio)? One would be more flexible and wouldn’t have the hassle with the NDs all the time. Hardly anybody talks about the negatives/restrictions of using an ND filter like, color-casting, vignetting, having to use a higher ISO sometimes, not being able to use polarizers with a variable ND filter which is usually less of a quality anyway, etc. If the motion blur is only done in post, without NDs, how good and easy is the result of a proper motion blur and quality?
I own an audio video recording studio and all the videos I watch of audio Studios never talk sence like this one. Thanks for the pep talk
You got it! Thanks for watching

У этих камер есть один ОГРОМНЫЙ недостаток, колёсики забиваются грязью, их приходится чистить обращаясь тех центр.
This was such a helpful video. Thank you so much, I finally have a glimmer of understanding shutter speed with video.
A r6 mark II melhor que a R5?
GREAT VID! In your honest opinion, is the 100F really that much softer wide open than the 100V? if so what about at F2.8? just wondering if all the negative about the soft lens is blown out of proportion. And also, have you had alot of problems with the F hitting any buttons by accident like the Q or D pad etc...Thanks
I don’t think it’s THAT much softer. Probably a bit, but nothing I’ve noticed on its own. And it depends on what you’re going for. I like softer tones and then if you need some added sharpness then add it in post. But I love the look of the F. It’s going to be a tad slower on AF because it’s older but still very reliable and usable. Never had issues hitting buttons accidentally.
@@TrentErwin true. Guess softness is relative. Btw, What simulation were you using on the 100f when you showed the pics of your kids on the beach? any specific tweaks if any? looks really nice! good saturation and looks pretty sharp
@@Kneedeepinstock was shooting raw on those and coloring in Lightroom. That's my favorite way to shoot and process on the 100f. Using a look I've developed after several years of testing different presets and fusing several together.
Good work!! Just got the little brother the Fujifilm X-S20, such a great little camera and the results are overall great!
I traded my Canon 5D III for a Fuji Xt-3 three years ago. Sold the Fuji and went back to Canonbwith the R6, where I am staying. Yes, the Fuji brought me back to my film days with the analog controls I find so intuitive. But the autofocus was unreliable and the low light performance is clearly below that of the R6. I do mostly travel photography with a lot of low light scenes, and the Canon is far superior. The XT-5 I heard is better, but the complaints about autofocus are still the overwhelming complaint. Lovely and light, but no thanks.
Hi , does xs-10 have noticeable better sensor than X100F ??? would I see diffrience in grain on the iso 6400 ? and dynamic range , I really hate to not have rotating lcd screen I was thinking about selling X100F
Thanks, king 👑
Dude must be tripping 😂 ditching full frame 14 bit camera for "colors" 😂
Air2S all the way!
I have x h2. If you need afc in video especially, far away from fuji. This makes you disappointed. Generally xh2 and xh2s can not react fast and sometimes got stuck and blurry especially suddenly change the camera direction to another object. And fuji is not useful for closed video recording for exampla subject for jewels. If your light is even little bad i know fuji can not focused st the time. So i mean if anybody change from any brand to fuji, all need to know what they need exactly. If not, be sure fuji's colors can not save your decision at all.
So you're saying 500$ a wedding? I know photographers who charge 5k a wedding just for the photos not videography
Ha no I didn’t say charge $500 for a wedding. I’m saying you need to be very understanding of your costs and what goes into production as you set your prices so that you can have a healthy margin
What are those lights?
Amaran 200x
Massive well done guys! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Paul! Big moment for us. We’re moving in the right direction. Producing films that people are noticing.
4:10 - you're probably joking with this list... nothing for beginners here, they can spend 10 times less -- beginner Canon is Canon 550D or similar for 100-150 usd
Don’t buy cheap. You’re gonna quickly outgrow it.
those family vacation photos were beautiful ❤
Thank you so much 🙏🏼
I am a beginner photographer and I am gng for a yoga workshop photography,I click like around 50 pics in 2 hours..how much should I charge now?based on pics or time?
Not all photos are created equal so it’s going to be hard to convince clients by charging by the amount of photos. Try to charge based on the project and how much of your time goes in
6:24 - To access the menu on the handgrip controls, you hold the Peaking button.
A trend I keep saying though is people who own this camera repeatedly saying they tend to default to a Sony A7S3 or FX3 for crtiical autofocus work because lidar isn't reliable and has some major shortcomings.
new subscriber, loving your channel! especially the one about shooting an interview with a one light setup, thank!
I appreciate that and you being here!
I'm buying one of these shortly but to say its on par with the L lenses is a stretch. My big complaint is no weather sealing.
Your better JPEG with the X100V comment just did not sound convincing and we did not see any evidence of that......
How could I have made it sound more convincing for you? Maybe just get the x100vi at this point. Even better jpegs 😎
So it’s not an r5? 😂
So photo lens more crips?
Shooting with too low shutter speed is like overexposing your video, you cant fix it later. I like to shoot high shutter and then add blur where i want.
I understand what you're saying, but if you're intentionally shooting slow shutter for some creative pick-up shots, then it's rad. Especially for fast-paced sports, action, vehicles, etc.
600W is actually the smallest to mimic the Sun :D
You’re right. I’ve grown a lot as a filmmaker in the area of lighting. Used the 1200 recently and it almost wasn’t enough.
Xh2s for video and xt5 for photography.
Great advice.
looks nice. too tall for me though.
Can lose the audio handle if you don’t need it and that cuts a lot of the height off. But I’ve come to really enjoy a handle with a monitor on top.
