My Mom had a 77 Buick two door Limited with the olds 403. They bought it at five years old and 25000 miles. Drove it for close to twenty years then sold it to the neighbor. It was 99% small town short trips. However, my Dad religiously changed the oil and filter and greased it every six months. It still ran smooth and strong. The only thing wrong with that car was the velour interior that absorbed 300,000 Pall Mall unfiltered cigarettes by both my Mom and Dad. I think you got a good one there.
I had a 78 Electra Limited 2 door with the Buick 350. Drive it 3½ years. It was only 10 years old when the rust was so bad the car sank in the middle. I sold it for scrap and got paid a whole $10 for it.
@@michaeltutty1540 What a shame. My parents lived in southern Oklahoma so rust was never an issues. Cars there will stay on the road until they get beyond mechanical repair.
Some real bargains there, I'd have personally been most interested in the two Pontiacs and/or the Belair hardtop. But the white LeSabre is about as much fun as you can possibly have for less than 350 bucks. Wouldn't take much to make a nice clean daily driver out of that.
I've always loved the Toronado and the Riviera just such classic designs and lines especially the boat tail Riviera. The Cadillac version is also a favorite. She looks good for that price
Too much fun walking around. Prices seemed reasonable. Recall those Winnebago campers along the beaches in Malibu off of Pacific Coast Highway. PS- 1969 light blue Toronado with white top has such clean lines!
I sold Vans like the 1979 Chevy and new Cadillacs with the Northstar engines & the 4,6,8 engines 🤮🤮 when I worked at a Cadi, Buick, Olds, GMC, Pontiac dealership for 10 years, I sold a thousand cars like some of the ones you now drool over... your videos show me just how old I am ...
I had a Silver and black 67 Toranado, and this video was a real nostalgia trip for me. I owned a lot of cars in my life, and the Toranado was one of the best cars I had. I kept it for close to 10 years, and with the exception of having to fix an internal leak on the quadrajet, the car ran flawlessly. It was the ideal highway car.
The 68 Tornado quarter panel you used as the wallpaper for this video got my attention and won you a sub. Mom bought a dark blue 67 with white interior back in 73 when I was a kid and I've loved 'em ever since. I've always found the fender flares, tail panel and popup headlights too cool for words. I would have bought all three of those '67s in the backyard to piece one back together. BTW: Leno's 66 that he had converted to rear wheel drive is wild, I have the C&D magazine article.
Welcome, and thanks for stopping by the channel! These Toros have a purity of design that definitely lands them a secure spot in the canon of timeless automotive design. I love hearing the stories of people who experienced them firsthand when they were new and late models. Now and then I find myself wishing for a time machine to go back and experience those days!
I like your car a lot, Tim !! It really looks good on the video. Good looking tires and wheels. That is all it takes . Lol.. Be safe my friend and God bless you and yours !!!!! Eddy
Someone I knew had the Toronado. Lived in an apartment, came down to the parking level and thought "Someone's left their interior light on. Found that someone had stolen his driver's door.
I think you did good on the bukee , i started working on those in 82, and did 2 diesel conversions, and a few head jobs on the diesels, those cars were good for the day as far as comfort, too bad that many found their fate in the derby, it'll be an easy fix, just time consuming.
Thumbs up,Enjoy the mid west finds, great adventure, he had plenty of them, You mention old tires, the firestone 921, or the Auga Treads were popular in the NW
Aquatred was widely marketed here but I personally never saw a set on a car even once. While it didn't perform any worse on wet pavement than conventional tread designs, I don't think it actually had any real advantage over an all-season tire. It would have probably been worse on mud and snow, and unable to truly prevent hydroplaning on wet roads. Another great idea in a test lab that looked neat in the commercials but failed to land in the consumer market
First car I ever drove was my dad's metallic blue '67 Toronado. He had swapped the 425 for a 455 and converted it to disc brakes. That thing could fly! I can't believe how cheap some of them went for here!
My grandfather had a diesel Buick or Olds wagon in the 80's, I remember it was light blue with the woodgrain sides. It had an engine fire in the late 80's and burned up. I remember going to the tow yard with him to see if anything inside was salvageable-it wasn't. My grandmother had a Buick 2dr of about the same era, I still have the key chain from that car.
The Northstar V8 has gotten a bit of a bad reputation. I had one in a 2008 Cadillac STS, a brother in law had one in a Buick and a neighbor had one in a Buick. None of us had any problems at all, except for an annoying oil seep on mine. They will get out and run, mine was electronically governed at 154 mph, but I never tried to get anywhere close to that.
I think you got a great buy, if you fix all the problems it will likely run a long time. Those 80s GM full frame RWD cars are a great platform, parts are real cheap too.
The blue Toro with the white vinyl top was indeed a 1968. The burgundy one shown just before was a 1969. The notable difference is the end of the rear fenders. 1969s are squared off.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. Mr. Goodpliers it a Oldsmobile engine. Sir if they sit lifter tap low oil ! You have half the battle it run ! Good luck ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍.
I've been driving it around and it's quieted down quite a bit. All I can hear now is the exhaust leak 😆 I'm reading between the lines of your comment, and I agree it would be a great idea to fix it up and drive it regularly so the lifters stay pumped up 👍
A while ago we put a timing chain in a 403 after it had sat 20 years, and at first start-up it made so much noise I thought something else was wrong with the engine 😆
I've seen you spend the same money or more for cars that I would be afraid to just get in to steer onto a trailer. This Buick is definitely "DOWNTOWN". You did good!
At 5:29 - I'm sitting here looking at this 66 Toronado and it reminds me of the first time I saw the 90's- something Olds Aurora. I thought, it had a really unusual rear area. Now I see where the styling people might have got the idea for it.
I think that Buick you bought was a good deal. If you buy one of those 2 can Seafoam kits and follow the directions that Buick will come back to life. I did it with a Jeep cherokee with 186,000 miles and it sounds brand new. A cheap engine job.
I didn't know Buick uses diesels. At first the car looked to be an Oldsmobile. I hope you enjoy it. That 56 Pontiac is nice. I like the 55 ones better, I learned to drive on one. Thanks for a fine video!
Seems like a win win to me Tim! Should clean up nice to sell, but I'd keep to drive. The engine may come around with a little bit of use. Thanks fir sharing!
I think you got a got a deal a little bit of work I think need the valve cover gaskets course it needs the muffler pumpkin seal. I'm at ethanol gas got to get that out of there put a new set of Autolite plugs in there I'll be running like a champ My dad would drive one of those he never had a problem with one of them if he kept up with it he drove one with one lobe down I'm a cam and that thing still had guts. You don't get those kind of cars with a body like that the stuff that got out today there's no comparison thank you for the video
Smart buy for your new Buick. Auctioning that collection was a mistake by the estate. Some of those cars would have brought some real good money if they were advertised properly elsewhere.
I’ve been buying cars for 45 years now never in my wildest dreams I would want a 1980 four-door Buick but like they say there’s an ass for every seat. Good luck with that one.
Considering what the G-body cars are bringing now, I am kind of surprised no one has started to make repro bumper fillers for these late malaise era GMs yet. I remember these being rotted to nothing in the late 90's when I was in high school tbh. The Cougar was pretty neat to see, I don't even remember the last time I saw an MN12 chassis Tbird or Cougar of any description!
That car was an incredible pristine time capsule. A truly amazing car. But odd brand, odd year and odd bodystyle hold it back. If you change just a couple things on that list, it would be an easy $80k car. Could you imagine finding an Impala convertible or hardtop in this condition? 😵💫
Had a pair of 84/85 Cadillac Eldorados. The High Technology 4.1L V8 was probably the Biggest POS V8 engine GM ever made. Being rushed into production and the prequel engine to the Northstar V8s it kinda figures that they would be a POS lol.
The LeSabre featured amber turn signal lights at the rear from '77 til '80, albeit with some yearly light changes. The '81 LeSabre had similar taillights without the amber.
T5hat may have the W-34 455, which was 425 HP stock from the factory,I put one of these motors in a 1076 443, like the BEST NASCAR era car, that car after my motor upgrade from the 250 was a BEAST! ANY of them OLDS with a 425 motor those were by far the best OLDS motor to build, friend of mine turns *k with his mud truck impressive prices
Any of the running vehicles sold for a fraction of the cost of restoring one. The Chevy was a beautiful car but had its cosmetic issues. The right kind of car to use & enjoy without stressing over it. But as beauties can be, it was cantankerous. They never did get it to start, and ended up pushing it in the trailer.
Incredible ‘61 Catalina and those old key jumbles were something to behold.
@@karentracy9657 I hope those keys make it to a great display

some good buys there. Looking forward to part 2.
Good buy in my opinion. Hell the wheels are probably worth that. Lots of good deals at that auction.

Amazing how well preserved some of those cars were. Good buys all around at those prices. 👍
very enjoyable video Mr. Goodpliers, good luck with the Buick. I do like it 👍
I have a 73 Toranado 77k original miles needs some TLC cannot wait to drive it.
Screamin' deal Tim. Not my type of ride but I appreciate a bargain when i see it.
Too much fun walking around. Prices seemed reasonable. Recall those Winnebago campers along the beaches in Malibu off of Pacific Coast Highway.
PS- 1969 light blue Toronado with white top has such clean lines!
Yes, that car is beautiful and deserves to be revived and improved upon...

Can't wait for part 2...The Buick , upon 1st impression, seems like a very nice unit...I hope it turns out to be...
That '50 Chevy was awesome! The Dodge Winnebago was cute.
U did good mr pliers excellent cheers 🥂 😊
Love that 50 Chevy.
I had a Silver and black 67 Toranado, and this video was a real nostalgia trip for me. I owned a lot of cars in my life, and the Toranado was one of the best cars I had. I think this was one of your very best buys ever!😎 Good night, and God bless. I love your videos.
That Buick should buff out real nice. What a great collection of cars!
The 68 Tornado quarter panel you used as the wallpaper for this video got my attention and won you a sub. Tim the question is do you like it and if you do than who cares but your self I like it
I think she's a nice car. Love the wheels you did great for sure.
Great buy! That 61 Catalina though!
It'll need TLC for sure Mr. CP but I'll go out on a limb to say that you scored with the Buick.
I would take your car in a heartbeat. That old thing will be awesome when you go thru it. What a beauty.
I think you did good on the bukee , i started working on those in 82, and did 2 diesel conversions, and a few head jobs on the diesels, those cars were good for the day as far as comfort, too bad that many found their fate in the derby, it'll be an easy fix, just time consuming.
I'm a huge fan of the GM stepchildren. Olds Buick Pontiac ! For the money you did just fine ! Just waiting on part 2 !
Thumbs up,Enjoy the mid west finds, great adventure, he had plenty of them, You mention old tires, the firestone 921, or the Auga Treads were popular in the NW

The Buick will make a great car I’d say. Your right about that 1961 Pontiac being the best car there. It looked great !
The Pontiac was incredible. I have no inside storage space, or it would have been too tempting to pass up.
The 61 Pontiac has optional right side rear view
My grandfather had a diesel Buick or Olds wagon in the 80's, I remember it was light blue with the woodgrain sides. It had an engine fire in the late 80's and burned up. Wow some super buys here.
Tornado had no hump because it was front wheel drive. My grandfather had a 68’ and in the winter would go anywhere, and boy was it fast!
Looking Forward to part 2, You did very well for the price you paid i feel.
The Northstar V8 has gotten a bit of a bad reputation. I had one in a 2008 Cadillac STS, a brother in law had one in a Buick and a neighbor had one in a Buick. good looking buick best engine in it
Wheels worth what you paid. Got a tow bar. I had the olds version . It was a nice drive. Cheap cheap was the word. Good buy.
The Winnebago looks like the one that Josh and Tosh over at Sleeperdude have.
I think you got a great buy, if you fix all the problems it will likely run a long time. Those 80s GM full frame RWD cars are a great platform, parts are real cheap too.
A good buy to me😅, the crazy canuck
Good buy all day little tlc
The blue Toro with the white vinyl top was indeed a 1968. The burgundy one shown just before was a 1969. The notable difference is the end of the rear fenders. 1969s are squared off.
I had at first mistaken the burgundy one for being a 1970 until I saw the front.
Look at the junkyard Silas just visited...has all those 70s and 80s cars you like.
Agreed, there was a lot there
Good buy..more like a great buy..I can see that becoming the new daily

Not really knowing about the Buick , But here in Pa , Its worth around $4000 and up ! Really nice buy .
That was a great price.

the Oldsmobile 350 V8 gas was one of the best engines ever built...it runs great
I can see a fleemarketeer sleeping in that camper and van already
Great buy..You can make your money back in just the wheels alone, a bit of work and you could have a pretty cool daily driver..
I think that Buick you bought was a good deal. If you buy one of those 2 can Seafoam kits and follow the directions that Buick will come back to life. I did it with a Jeep cherokee with 186,000 miles and it sounds brand new. A cheap engine job.
I LIKE YOUR NEW FANGAL HOOD HOLDER UPPER YEAP!!!!👍👍👍😂😂😂
I think you got an awesome car, especially for a low buck, running, driving car!
I turned on the TV this morning, and MacGyver was on! The episode was “Pliers!”😂
I didn't know Buick uses diesels. At first the car looked to be an Oldsmobile. I hope you enjoy it. That 56 Pontiac is nice. I like the 55 ones better, I learned to drive on one. Thanks for a fine video!
Good score .
4 3/4 bolt pattern is a plus
I had one of those Buicks in the 90's,.. My 2 little girls loved it so much, they trashed the back seats,..LMBO
Good looking car ya got 👏👏👍enjoyable video🍻
For $350 i'd be tempted too, but it looks like it was run until it could no longer!! Still a good buy and maybe it'll be better with a bit of work!

Few nice cheap cars sold there Mr G...greetings from sth Australia 🇦🇺 👍
The Buick is pretty cool but, I love those 60's toronados
Love all of your vids Mr. Goodpliers!
Thanks for stopping by the channel Mike!
Good prices. Maybe should have bought some more 😊

Some very clean cars to be had. Also not crazy money either.
Always liked those wheels on the one you got.
Lots of cool old iron!.😎

Nice car. I would have bought the 69 Toronado, 66 Toros. Very nice cars.
That Win nebago, i need that, now.
five hundred siixty one dollars !
Price wise, you stole it. Good work
I would have gone for the 61 pontiac
That car was an incredible pristine time capsule. A truly amazing car.
But odd brand, odd year and odd bodystyle hold it back.

Tim , It's a Great car and buy ! I would surely own it !!!
Great buy clean car good tires, grocery getter boring style
What a steal on the 50 Hard top

Yea they were junk

Good video Tim !
Excellent buy.

Don't see many of them on road, body and interior very nice, maybe some engine and trans maintance be a good driver or weekend carshow cruiser!😊

I did the same thing to my tilt steering wheel, 1988 f150.
Yes is ok with me Peace out
Someone got a smoking deal on that 50 chevy. I liked the chevy van. The rest were boat anchors.

good deal Tim 👍
I have an original 350 buick motor and transmission. Been looking for something to put it in .
