Used to have a budy down in western Tenn. with a salvage yard, he'd sell whole cars, sell stripping rights to a car, all you could take off in a day (possibly two is he was feeling generous) but never pulled a part himself. Unfortunately he passed away about 20 years ago
@@drskull9 it's seriously reminds me of a story of two guys talking read aloud in line at the McDonald's 20 years ago. One of them turned 86. Hi Silas The Plymouth Valiant with wheel on trunk from 59-61. There were some 1962 that had them. The 1957 Chevrolet they produced more Bel-airs than the 210. I am a Mopar man myself
Honda Civics were available for a few years with a CVCC engine; CVCC stood for Controlled Vortex Combustion Chamber, essentially a pre-combustion engine with a small intake valve in the precup with the sparkplug and of course the large combustion chamber was configured as normal but with no spark plug. There were two intake valves, one of which was normal and near the exhaust valve, but the other intake valve was relatively tiny and was of course in the top of the pre-cup near the spark plug. The idea being the richer mixture in the pre-cup would ignite the lean mixture in the main combustion chamber. The carburetor was configured with one small throat jetted richer and one jetted leaner; the thing worked well, got good fuel mileage while meeting the strict exhaust emission standards of the day. I remember those well because i worked on them often back when they were being sold.

Used to be a small junkyard with only pre 1970 cars only in Fordsville Ky. It was named Brown's. When i was in my 20s i rode with my moms then husband took me there ans we walked around. He picked out three 1947-1950 chevrolets. He had already brought home a complete 1947 Fleetline two door car that we soaked the cyls for 2 months and messed around with the rest of the car, brakes and etc. then got the stovebolt to turn over after soaking in kroil. Once the starter turned thru the harness we pumped the oil out, set up the original ignition to fire, carb had already been gone thru. A replacement factory fuel pump and a new tank supplied the fuel. It started and ran. Got it to idle and we drove it down Ky-54 just like it was meant to be. That car had the vac canister that would shift the three on the tree "automatically" if the revs were up then the clutch pushed in at a certain rpm. Weirdest poor man auto ever. Anyway there was a total of 4 chevrolets pulled from that yard. He put 3 down in the bottom for "someday" but truth is those other 3 were too far gone. One was a 50 Chev hardtop 2 door. My love is Oldsmobiles and this Brown's yard had more than a few. The place is closed to the public now, but i think it still exists.
Such a pleasure to look the AMFS videos, nice pictures, good sound, no boarding Blabla. Like Goodpliers talking is making me sleepy, also the pictures not very good. What a contrast to Salis.
I miss having a junkyard like this nearby. Now they dont let you walk around anymore except for a tiny fenced area at the front with a small amount of cars that are always picked clean.
Hey Silas, great video as always, that small white coupe towards start might be a Hilman, no clue on year. Keep on TRUCKIN' DUDE, your adventures remind me so much of my youth!! Thanks for memories!! Mike from Delaware.
Wow! I learned to drive on a 1951 Nash 4 door sedan! I loved the car. My Memere bought it in 1951, I was born in 48. It drove like a huge Cadillac! Greatest car ever! For me anyway.
Still looking for a 68 XL500, my high school car. She was Wimbledon white, BB, PB, PS, AC, red interior. I’ve only found 1, perfect match. It moved all over the upper Midwest. They would never contact me back. Hope you find what you’re looking for.
As to feeling old, I long ago observed that a sure sign you're getting old is when the cars you rode in as as kid are being driven in founder's day parades.
Cool video. No place like that up in the northeast now, there use to be back in the 1960s and '70s. Funny how the junkyard guys all hold on to those old Dodge trucks. ...They know! 😏
The early valiant had the tyre pressed into the boot Here it was called the R series had tyre then the S series did not Salis I think you needed a Segway to get around the yard to see t all 👍👍
I had a chance to buy 3 1950s Mercedes near me for $100 each, as long as I didn't crush them, but at the time I was selling my property and had no where to store them. I had to move them within a week, or they were headed to a scrap dealer for scrap price (which was more than $100). So I posted in a vintage Mercedes group, and some fool claimed my offer was a scam, so people balked at the chance to rescue them....to the crusher they went. A sad day.
At about the 2 minute mark you were in front of a Vega Wagon. I tried to contact the yard about it but I didn't get an answer. I tried calling the phone number but it just rings and rings, doesn't go to voice mail. All I want is more info on it and what the cost would be. No, I can't just go there, I'm in Michigan.
What would you have brought home?
ALLES!!
The Oldsmobile limosine if that's what it was.

I also liked the 71 LTD.

man i would love to walk through that place , but will have to just enjoy your video instead. Thanks for taking us
Such a pleasure to look the AMFS videos, nice pictures, good sound, no boarding Blabla. Like Goodpliers talking is making me sleepy, also the pictures not very good. What a contrast to Salis.
I get it Silas they are all cool. And what are the odds of finding a Peugeot wagon in the US? They did not import too many.
Mon prof de math en avait une (Besançon 🇫🇷)Peugeot 404 Break 4 cylindres 1500cc
smooth as butter! Walked past a continentel kit on the windsor
My first car was a 1961 Plymouth Valiant with the tire trunk lid 6 cylinder push button auto transmission
you always buy Corvairs in pairs, that way you can bury 1 and cover it up with the other one 🤣
I’ll never understand how people want to ruin something that is from a different time and is basically history just baffles me…
My 1960 Valient had the tire ring on the trunk, so I think it's the older ones. Awesome video!!!
Great show keep up the amazing work be safe my friends God bless all kool works of art
44:12 Buick is cool ride.😊 Thanks for sharing this with me.
I like that junk yard.
Old station wagons are making a comeback, every person I know is looking for one. 💯
I’d take the 2 `66 Buick Riviera’s
10:32 That Lincoln is sweet the black one
I always ware headphones your video's are never loud from noise not wind or traffic or anything else!!
Wow! I learned to drive on a 1951 Nash 4 door sedan! I loved the car. My Memere bought it in 1951, I was born in 48. It drove like a huge Cadillac! Greatest car ever! For me anyway.
51:19 Fozzy Bear 🐻 been looking for that, parked it up one day git drunk and couldn't find it lol😂
32:50 Peugeot 404 Family Estate (aka Station wagon, aka Break), made from 1962 onwards. My father in law drives a 404 sedan.
This lot is more of a liability than an asset. Only a matter of time before Govt. legislation mandates site cleanup and car disposal.
👍 that's for the ( owner)guy that owns these cars and property good luck... A lot of beautiful cars ...
That yard is nice for a tour to people as me that like old cars
The cars I don't see anymore are Pontiac Grand Ams. BTW... watch out for the rattlesnakes.
This place would be SOLD OUT! if located in The Netherlands! We love vintage American cars, but they are rare here.
The early valiant had the tyre pressed into the boot
Here it was called the R series had tyre then the S series did not
Salis I think you needed a Segway to get around the yard to see t all 👍👍
50:26 The Windsor : You, walk right by a trunk with the spare tire shape in the hood. Don't even notice.
Me, screaming at the screen,
RIGHT THERE!
A sad day.
The car at 26:10 looks perfect to scrap. The 27:53 piece you are missing is easily bent back into shape. Should be yours. Buy it.
I had my first big engine car was a 429 thunder jet 1968 bird 2 door ! Thanks for showing some of the long for gotten cat , even a pacer !
The deck lid on the Valiant is cool but, it would make a nice couch as well.
Some of my best memories as a young man was walking through old junk yards.
