Single stage is always glossier than base/clear. You are looking directly at the color instead of through a plastic coating. Metallica is another ball game.

I've been Rebuilding my late Brothers Mustang since 2016... Spent the better part of 2 summers doing rear quarters and minimal floor work.. sanded the car down to almost bare metal.. had literally 7-8 different colors as I went down.. 1/2 in of filler in places it didn't need it.. is what it is.. so I decided to paint it myself.. 3 coats of base and 3 coats of clear.... But I was way over my head to go alone the first time.. turned out decent but I have to wet sand the clear and buff the shit outta it... Peel like crazy 🤦🤦 long story short I respect the Shit outta guys like you that throw it down and share your knowledge!.. Thanks! 👍👍✌️

Yes absolutely. If I put on the paint just slightly less wet I wouldn't have had this issue. Also if it was just 5-10 degrees warmer that would have helped

I noticed that Chris from Garage Noise uses Plastic Honey to make his filler more workable, he said it's good for old filler and when it's thick and cold, as is usual over here we don't seem to be able to buy it but I've been told that fibreglass resin will work🤔🤷♂😂John UK
Seems a saw a battery sander. Rigid electric works great. And has vacuum..uses 5 inch paper. Half inch on each side doesnt make a difference and is way cheaper
Sags are not an issue when you are a pro pro doesn't mean perfect it means knowing how to fix imperfections the take away here is how well the material layed down looks peel free well done!
I don't think any pro pro would even attempt to paint a whole car in dead winter 25-35 degree temps. That's my thing 😂😂 Whole lot of people came after me for the runs yet let's see those same people show up at my un-heated shop and work in 25-35 degree temps for a 8 hour day and then paint a car in it. It's now obvious that I screwed my last paint job by not employing the over-the-head reducer pour as you have shown at 5:58. What a doofus I am. I need practice.
Showing those times when u get waterfall runs instead of "hey, another 100 percent perfect job with zero flaws" can be more helpful and encouraging to a new painter. When you are brand new, u might worry and be nervous about not having the paint come out great. This shows stuff can happen even to those with years of experience. Not the end of the world. Fix it. Move on to the next. Learn from it. Car is sharp. If you didn't focus the camera in, would never know. But you showed it anyway😎😎😎👍
Notice how I joked about it laughed about it and literally didn't care. I'm an expert in the trade and can fix this blind folded. 🤣🤣 The quackers on here can't.
Marco, Orientation coat on single stages, not a dust coat, dust coats add texture. Satin the first coat. By the time youve made it around the vehicle, Youre ready to begin your first medium Wet coat. Walk your single stage, Pace yourself.. Painting is a dance. Dad was right.. Get a steady rhythm, Paint is Fluid, your movements need to Flow with the paint.. I notice you have many points where you are a bit jerky... Your tempo is all over the place.. Be Patient, especially in colder temps. If you wait 10 more minutes in cold temps... It helps. If you question your string test.. wait longer. You want positive pressure in your space, Where ever your fan is, begin closest to it, and move your paint toward the exit point. Tape your sleeves to your gloves. And for the sake of your sanity.. You need more air.. As Pops wasnt clear on, Step up to a dedicated 1/2" air hose and High flow fittings.. This will REALY HELP you getting the volume consistent, and maximum atomization. Your current Hose size drops the air volume, its restricting your air flow to the gun.. This will allow you to push more fluid.. Keep the trigger pulled on the first step the entire time, Only lift off the fluid, Not the airflow.. Everytime you let off completely, the pressure release blasts material out when you pull the trigger again.. This can also blow dust around from 10' away.. Maybe these things will help reduce your runs and sags.. I didnt listen to my pops until he was gone.. He was right.. And I am sharing 36 years of knowledge from a hotrod painter and my own learning along the way.. I still would like you to try at least pulling taillights.. Less taping.. Im very conservative with material... I use 3m, But I stretch it.. Pulling mirrors, handles, headlights, pressurewashing with dawn, and a really good blowdown is worth the time, when youre not cutting and buffing Sir... $ hours of teardown beats the hell out of 6-8 hours of scratching new paint and swinging a polisher.
Maybe a kicker would’ve helped. Doubled up in some areas perhaps. But again, your humility in showing that you’re not the best or perfect is why I watch.
I sure hope you’re getting paid more than 400 for this job. If not, you lost your ass. I always give the car 30minutes before a 3rd coat in cold weather. Happy sanding.

Lvlp is a scam created by the EPA basically. EPA pressured gun manufacturers to make guns that put out "less over spray" When you can literally do this with any spray gun.

Runs mean YOUR PUSHING THE ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM WETNESS AND SMOOTHNESS OUT OF THE PAINT!
Or that you’re using the wrong reducers for the temp… but either way, you have to appreciate his transparency in his videos. Nobody is perfect.

It’s ok to address keyboard warriors cause if your new to painting or some other trade people with no experience other than reading will lead you down the wrong path costing you money and time because there is so many keyboard warriors.i work with some and there in positions they shouldn’t be in and it’s very annoying to deal with

The conversation goes immediately dead after that because they usually have neither.
@@gregoryjowers3629 Addressing them in the comments is one thing. In the video is another. I have addressed them from time to time on my small channel, but find it usually to be a waste of time and energy. Most commenters on my vids are respectful in sharing their knowledge and asking questions. I prefer not to spend 90% of my limited time on the 10% of morons. And the average viewer of this channel fits into the 90% who get what's going on.

I should have seen this video before I bought all these lvlp guns. I bought them for my 33 gallon Coleman compressor....to do my 03 Tahoe
Lvlp is a scam created by the EPA basically. EPA pressured gun manufacturers to make guns that put out "less over spray" When you can literally do this with any spray gun.
