Not looking for anything from him, unlike the rest of the world, shows you how special this movie really is.

    I love how they humanised an alien. Gives more meaning to Clark than having an always smiling Superman always there to save the day captain perfect. Giving characters flaws makes them more realistic and relatable. I do not understand why people want the Christopher Reeve type Superman forever. This film is a master piece.

    • @try2bcool
      @try2bcool 4 года назад +1

      I don't think you've seen the Christopher Reeve Superman movies at all. The first 2, especially, have more human moments in them then this whole new series. They gave Cavill the emotional range of a tree stump in this.

    • @francois9747
      @francois9747 4 года назад +12

      @@try2bcool I disagree. That's only when it comes to Clark. But Chris' Superman for his time was great but now it's cheesy. Clark felt human, but Superman felt like the most perfect character which is boring. In Man of Steel, when Clark is Superman, he still struggles to become Superman and still has flaws. For example, he focused more on fighting the bad guys than saving people but Chris Superman was good at fighting and saving at the same time. Yeah Man of Steel Superman saved a couple people like the dude falling from the helicopter, but then got distracted from the fight and unexpectedly got attacked. Clark's story growing up also made more sense as to why his Superman isn't as happy and light as Chris Reeve's Superman. He still felt alienated like an outcast, and you can see it in his facial expressions.

    I'll keep saying this, underrated movie.
    Metropolis being destroyed "Superman wouldn't do that!" did he have a choice? Zod didn't really give him a choice now, did he? Had he flown away from the city, Zod would just wreck the rest of it until Clark came back.
    Just sayin'. But people misunderstand this movie the same way they misunderstand the Martha moment in BvS. Batman didn't stop trying to kill him because his mother's name was Martha, he stopped because him having a human mother, or at least a human loved one humanized Superman in his eyes. He was no longer a strange visitor from another planet, he was a son who was worried about someone he loved. So he was someone who tried to save his mother, something Bruce never could.

    1:49 Clark is afraid to go inside. But, as soon as her mother comes out, he joins her. Weren't we all afraid to enter a dark room alone but by our mother by our side, we did. This is what makes Snyder's Superman so realistic. We aren't seeing an alien like Omni man. He is Clark first, Superman later. He feels the same fear as we do. He has the same thing to lose as we do. He fears being hurt too. Yet, he faces his fears to fulfil the reason for which he was sent here. He is SuperMAN not SUPERman.

    In time, the overall assessment of this movie will change decidedly for the better...
    Eventually the prevailing opinion will be that this movie was[ and _is_ ]genuinely great, for a myriad of reasons, but principally because:
    [a.] it offered a quite plausible reimagining of Superman within a world whose verisimilitude thoroughly convinced us...and yet
    [b.] through Henry Cavill's superlative performance, _because of, rather than despite_ that world's gritty realism and underlying bleak cynicism, we behold a living god most ardent in _showing_ us that _we_ mere mortals... _truly matter_
    ...It's already happening.

    It doesn't take a lot to see that this movie has a lot of depth. When Superman says, "Thank you Colonel." after the Colonel declares Clark not to be an enemy, is EXTREMELY telling: for a being with potentially infinite physical ability, being amicable and accepted by everyone else in society shouldn't really matter to him. It shows that all Clark wants is acceptance and for people to understand him. Snyder and Nolan did an awesome job with MoS, and I'd like to see them (and Henry) come back for a sequel. Just make it more like MoS and less like JL.
