It's also very telling of Kryptonians. They have absolutely no purpose, other than to live for their people's glory. The only exceptions are the higher-ups who command--they need free will to think (But even then, Zod still has no other purpose other than to live for Krypton's people) It's very Brave New World-esque, but at the same time, it's also parallel to the anti-life equation. I have a theory that maybe the Kryptonians embedded a portion of the Anti-Life into the Codex (which is the DNA of all Kryptonians, for a refresher.) Maybe that's why Superman is an important part to Darkseid--he knows there is anti-life in him. Another theory I have is that the Kryptonians knew that Anti-Life was in Earth before Uxas invaded Earth. Maybe Jor-El knew Earth was important--it needed to be protected from evil.
@@internetdinosaur8810 Or more simply told, they are literal tools.Designed and made for specific purpose .This is why you cant really blame Zod and his soldiers
Some may think that Zod is an idiot for revealing his plans to Superman here, but with confidence and no hesitation in his explanation only shows that he has no fear of anyone stopping because he is already prepared for anything.
"The foundation has to be built on something." It's amazing to me how many people miss this line when they repeat "oh why didn't Zod use Mars" BS ad nauseam. To properly terraform and to ensure the colony would survive on it's own, Zod needed a planet that could already support life. Mars and Venus and billions of other planets are unable to do so in their current forms. If he tried those planets, without Krypton for additional support the colony would wither and die like the others. And even if they did use another planet they would still need the Genesis Chamber and Codex to reproduce because they were all sterile as per Krypton's custom. Plus Zod didn't just want Krypton back as it was, he wanted only the best bloodlines as Jor-El said, which requires access to the Codex and the Genesis Chamber. Both the Genesis Chamber and Codex were on Earth, which was a planet that could support life on its own. Why go anywhere else when all they needed to succeed was in one place?
Perfectly explained. I’ve always thought the same as you, and been telling people who bring up the Mars argument that Zod needed the codex and genesis chamber first. It made perfect sense for him to start terraforming earth (a planet already suited to sustain life) while attempting to get the codex at the same time.
Well Genesis chambers are every where especially planets with life. Kryptonians sent scout ships to check on planets with life which explains why they are so intelligent. Zod can just easily find another scout ship on Mars when it used have life (Martian ma hunters ancestors lived there)
No. Zod just wanted revenge against Jor El and his kin. He wanted to undermine Jor El's plan and hope for the future. There was no other reason for him to destroy earth. Zod says that the foundation has to be built on something, but Venus actually has a similar atmosphere to earth's, except that their air is almost all carbon dioxide. Mars doesn't have an atmosphere, but a machine that can terraform could fix that. Planets like Mars and Venus not being able to support life was why they had the world engine so they could change the planet to suit their needs just like they were going to do to earth. They were changing earth on a global scale, and Zod could have easily done that to Mars or Venus just as easily. Not only that, but there are a LARGE estimation of planets that can support life in just our side of the universe. Zod could have easily gone to another star system and built on a better planet rather than trying to destroy earth even IF earth was the only planet they could "change" with the world engine. He only came to our solar system because of Clark activating the ship, otherwise Earth would have been of no interest to him. Not only that, but he went after Clark specifically as a means to undermine Jor El. If Zod's only goal was restoring Krypton, he would have just asked Clark politely for the codex, and explained that he survived just as Clark did. There was no need for the underhanded tricks Zod played like tricking Clark onto his ship or threatening to destroy earth. If he'd gone to Clark and asked for it so he could build on another planet, Clark would have probably trusted him enough to help him rebuild on another planet. And Zod could have probably gotten Clark on his side if he'd played his cards right and not been a jerk. Zod could have gotten the Codex without threatening to destroy earth, but he chose to straight up not come in peace and threatened to destroy the world if Clark didn't surrender to him. He could have come in peace and said "Hey guys... Looking for the codex so I can rebuild my race on another world. Please help." Zod and his group were in a very desperate state, looking for anything they could use to rebuild a new society, and finding earth was a way they could have gotten new supplies and resources they could take with them if they were smart at negotiating. But as desperate as they supposedly were, Zod didn't come in asking for help, but demanding everything go his way. Most people in desperation wouldn't approach the situation like Zod did. The simple fact is that while Zod said what he did was "for Krypton", it wasn't. Zod wanted revenge for what was done to him, and that was the only reason he did not come in peace. Otherwise he would have gone about his plan completely differently.
The idea that earth is the only habitable planet they could colonize seems like utter bs. If we know anything about dc comics, it’s that the universe is riddled with intelligent life. They could have gone to Mars and possibly meet martians. So no, I can’t really agree with this…
its an dream metaphor meaning that the humans will simply use kal-el 4 their own selfish reasons and if he chooses that side. He will be dragged down and be less than he is now. it's funny though, kal el thinks he is human? so is that why he protects earth? but i am sure they will praise another and steal Kal El's valor, it's typical behavior. cant expect much from man-earth..
If you were Zod and you clearly had the upper hand in man power and technology, wouldn’t you use intimidation to get someone on your side? I mean the normal good mannered person wouldn’t but kryptons future is at stake and Zod isn’t exactly a good guy so it makes sense. I know there’s a deeper meaning but I just wanted to show there is also a simpler meaning.
Superman"You can not have earth" Zod "ok what about Mars then? and we will help earth people with Krypton technology to make life better for us all? Superman"that's good" credit start to roll
He was a psychotic murder machine hell bent on vengeance on KAL EL and the destruction of earth in order to facilitate the rebirth of Krypton. All of which was totally unnecessary. They (the Phantom Zone escapees) could use the World Engine technology on a barren planet to germinate a new Kryptonian colony and populate their new world the old fashioned way. He just wanted to kill. A Hell of a person to admire, right? Just because some one is honest about their evil intent does not make them admirable and worthy of respect. If a crazed drug fiend breaks into your house in the dark of night shouting his intent to murder you and your entire family, will you have such respect and admiration for them simply because they are honestly stating their goals? I think not. HIS VERY EXISTANCE IS THE LIE. ALL MUST BE AS HE WILLS. SUCH UTTER CONTEMPTABLE BULLSHIT. HE WAS A MORON.
i think u are taking it to serious in the wrong way. The guy didn't lie and i respect him for that. At least you knew his intentions and he was letting u know off hand he planned on killing humans and didn't do it in a sneaky way. By being honest he allowed kael el to defend earth and save the human race. If all evil men acted like ZOD we could stop almost all murders and crime. Being honest is something to be respectful of wether its good or not u fuckin idiot lol. Ya zod is evil but i can still respect him for telling you straight up Yo im a evil bitch ima fuck you all up. Well dam thanks for telling me now i can stop you.
@@Killercoldice22 Anyone who respects an evil one simply because they are honest about being evil is a damn fool. That honesty alone does not change the fact that they are evil. Granted, forewarned is forearmed! There is no denying that scenario gives a tactical "heads up" advantage to the non evil doer, but it also can be used as a distraction from the main attack. Take and use any advantage that a self proclaimed evil doer provides to you in their hubris but do not be fooled by their "honesty" into thinking that they will not deceive you along another front.
@Messages In a bottle You start small and work smart. They had the technology. Zod was lazy. He wanted it all "right now". Find a suitable world for planetary engineering. Build underground structures/complexes with greenhouse farms. They had already survived for some thirty years. Do you really think that they did not have some viable crop seeds salvaged from the past Kryptonian expeditions? Do you think that they had naught to eat but their own Kryptonian versions of MREs? Look up the term meal habituation and rejection. If/when, hopefully the later, humanity actually does "terraform" the planets Mars and Venus it will be a slow generations long process not "right now". They could have engaged in trade with earth for "biomass". I stand by my statement that Zod and his followers just wanted to kill. Biomass could be algae and trash. Do you think any government on earth would not have made that trade? I fully realize that it is just a comic book movie. I enjoyed it. I DO NOT ENJOY THE FACT THAT FOOLS LIONIZE THE CHARACTER OF A SELF PROFESSED PSYCHOTIC GENOCIDIAL MASS MURDERER SIMPLY BECAUSE HE IS HONEST ABOUT WHAT HE IS!
@Messages In a bottle You say that you are not defending ZOD, and then proceed to defend him. Oh, boo, hoo! He was raised that way. Poor, pitiful ZOD. He just can not help himself. He was raised that way. He is genetically predisposed to violence. It is the society's fault. Pathetic circular "logic" highly indicative of the "progressive mindset" disease. I stand by my statement, undeterred. He was a moron. He was lazy. He was evil. His " honesty" was simply his real contempt and disdain for any who dare have a contrarian opinion to his views. Sound familiar?
This exactly why I prefer DC. Because they actually make you think about how these heroes and villains have repercussions in the real world. The film was a complete package and an epic journey from start to finish. I love the graphic novels used, the properly executed punchlines, and the background of the characters introduced.
Honestly if DC gets a proper handle on things, like a genuine overall upheaval, then it can 100% compete with marvel films and even surpass the best of them. DC animated has always had dark undertones, heroes ups and downs, but also had the proper comedic light heartedness to keep everything balanced. Here's to hoping the cinematic universe actually catches up in quality (though man of steel was awesome).
I loved MOS as well. However the MCU led by Kevin Feige was excellent especially phase I and II. Zach Snyder ruined the second film with Superman, Batman vs. Superman. I hated that film. I could tell Zach Snyder didn’t understand or care about the character of Superman and just wanted to make him dark and brooding like Batman. Again I loved MOS, but I wish Henry Cavill had gotten an opportunity to have his own sequel. 🙁🙁🙁
@DangerousDavies2008 Pure nostalgia blinds many to the fact that the Zod in Superman II is a mere caricature type villain; 2 dimensional, dull and predictable. Shannon's Zod inside the womb of Snyder's vision, is raw, malevolent, and ultimately, a proper tragic character.
It wouldn't work tho , they specifically said that colonies can't stand on their own except if they are logistically supported by krypton ( which is why once krypton abandoned the out post it died out ) . They needed a life supporting planet .
To me, its like a child of immigrants going back to his/her parents' country and if he/she eats the food and especially drinks the water, they will get sick since they haven't built up any resistance to the microorganisms in the food and drink.
What i loved about Michael Shannon's portrayal of General Zod was you could see he was a walking ticking time bomb just waiting to go off at any moment and the fact that he was being so calm and talking very normal really created this uneasy feeling that made you feel really concerned about the possibility of him snapping. No typical villain speeches or one liners here, just a straight up badass with one goal: create a new Krypton for my people.
If his goal was truly to create a new Krypton he could have done it elsewhere...I always got the feeling this was more personal. He wanted to hurt Kal because he couldn't hurt Jor'El for messing up shit on Krytpon. He felt betrayed by Jor'El who was his friend, and this broke him. Hence why he takes some seriously illogical steps in this movie like attacking a well armed world and trying to terraform it instead of just starting over elsewhere. Yes earth could have hurt them pretty hard and maybe even fought them off. Nukes can hurt them, BVS proves this, and just a well placed missile could take down the ship that has the clone factory...and then their whole "restart our civilization" plan is done. Also getting the guy that literally has the code for your future written into his body on your side just better tactics than alienating him by trying to destroy his world. If Zod had just gone to Mars, pushed some asteroids made of ice into the planet for water and then terraformed, his whole species would have been back, no risk no fuss. Then he could have gotten his revenge afterwards, or done whatever...but instead he took dumb risks with his last few people and resources...he was just insane.
@@swarz08 wtf you mean what. Don’t play dumb. Snyder is garbage. The only DCEU movie that looks like it might be decent is being directed by a marvel director. How funny.
Zod like Superman doesn’t lie about his plans, he tells you straight up “yeah we’re gonna have to kill everyone in order to save our world.”, without a flock of emotion. It shows how cruel, calculated, as well as determined of an enemy he is. Also, it shows he’s willing to be happy to see someone of his own kin. He comforts his soldiers in times of sadness as a rock to drive them to strive forward. He’s emotionally honest as well, it shows he’s a cruel man, but a man none the less who cares till it hurts or kills.
I think it stems more from the fact that they really have nothing to fear from humanity, you only lie when you have something to hide, you only have something to hide when you have something to fear, it’s more of an indifference to a culture they believe themselves above, even Kal-El to an extent believes himself to be represent a symbol or an ideal mankind should strive to follow. Zod and Superman are two sides of the same coin.
I wouldn't necessarily say cruel. He doesn't seem to revel in torture or destruction for its own sake. He's simply completely ruthless, willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve his objective in the most efficient way possible. That's also one of the reasons Zod is so terrifying. He is absolutely convinced he's doing the right thing, and that conviction is writ large across his words and actions.
As terrifying he was, I still found respect for General Zod for at least being polite to don't mind Superman called him by his name and even let him chooses which name (Kal el or Clark) he like to be addressed.
Noobody noticed. Such a shame isnt it. It looked so good and thought out, i felt a real life version is actually a possibility if materials can take the pressure
I feel like to truly make him an awesome villain would be if they gave us a reason why It had to be earth. I mean as far as I can tell Zod chose earth out of pettiness, he could have terraformed any planet even a lifeless planet. They should have made up some scientific mumbo jumbo to explain why he could only pick earth.
@@rexerator Obviously no ammount of scifi mumbo jumbo would help your dumbass since it was mentioned in the movie that you CAN'T terraform a dead planet, and you need a foundation
@Papaya Tasty did you read any of that shit I wrote?! Venus is the second planet next to the Sun, if Mars ain't gonna work what makes you think Venus would.
"Uh... part of a race of steadily advancing and sexually compatible space monkeys who haven't completely destroyed their planet yet? Plus I'm like a god to them, so that's pretty neat" The dialogue is pretty lame. Zod is so obviously wrong, even space monkeys can see it. He could just terraform mars or venus. He's got the technology right there. If Zod at least lied that he's not going to destroy the human race and presented the Mars/Venus colony plan as a ruse, Kal would probably help them. The worse part of the movie is that Zod is inconsistent. Zod and his followers are insanely stupid, yet they somehow escaped the phantom zone by themselves... Note that the phantom zone was made by Zor El, one of the smartest guys on the planet. Zor had the foresight to send an AI of himself to earth but didn't realize that his prison can go offline once the planet blew up. Zod isn't even menancing. He lost basically every encounter with superman on earth. He has no dynamic motion, so he doesn't even have a loud bark. You can say he has passion, but he is so incompetent he lost to an untrained farm boy. It's sad that Zod is actually DCEU's best villain :(
untrained farm boy who has been absorbing the suns radiation for a much longer time and has the entire species genetic code. Also you're overthinking a movie that's primary purpose is to entertain not be logically consistent.
Zod really was doing what he thought was right. The best villains are like that too, the ones that have seemingly good motives, at least in their own minds, and arent completely evil. Villians you can understand and relate to are the best ones.
That's sometimes true, but there are also plenty of great villains who are simply pure evil. Relatable villains can be great, purely evil ones can also be great.

The film aged beautifully. Zod genuinely accepts and understands that Kal-El wouldn’t address him by his rank because he wouldn’t know. He understands that whilst they’re the same species, they’re alien to him. Zod understands the difference between nature and nurture as they are the examples of each. He understands that Kal-El has been raised by humans as one of their own. Zod is choosing to address him on as if they are both no one, but both pivotal in Krypton’s survival. Zod has an agenda and wants Kal’s help, he intends on commiting mass genocide but he’s offering him a choice when he doesn’t have to.
@ Shut up! You guys don't have shame, didn't your parents thought you any good values. What hot?Go call your parents first. If she is beautiful fine why you need to take names.
I like how calm and collected they talk. You could feel their superior intelligence throughout the entire film. As for the dreamy bit, Zod doesn't want to convince Superman. His plan was always to re imagine earth as Krypton killing every human. He showed the worst of it to see how Superman would react.
The whole Steppenwolf storyline could’ve functioned as an introduction for Martian Manhunter. Have an opening sequence where we see a bit of Jon’s life on Mars so we can invest in him and whatever he’s about to lose once Steppenwolf invades Mars and conquers it. Jon is then forced to flee his planet and crashed into Earth. When Jon is discovered by the JL, he warns them of Steppenwolf and his invasion on Earth. What brings him to Earth is 1 Mother Box owned by STAR Labs (the Mother Boxes should’ve been slowly introduced)
I see a lot of people asking why did Zod just not hand Superman a mask like Louise. I have a feeling Zod knew what was going to happen when Ka-el stepped onto the ship so he could talk to Ka-el on that Shadow Plane in his dreams. Also, Zod knew that Ka-el would be okay once he adapted whereas Louise (and humans in general) might not be able to adapt to the Krytonian atmosphere at all. Did you notice how quickly Zod explained to Louise how Ka-el had to adapt when he first got sick? Zod knew because he is a military mastermind and genius in his own right. I still love the line: "Zod I cannot be a part of this." and he calmly replies "Then what can you be a part of?". That is both poetic and profound.
Superman can fly around in space. The sun gives him strength. Doesn’t make sense that he becomes weak in the ship. Never explained why they are weak like humans in Kryptonian atmosphere.
@@TheBooban the ship had the atmospheric qualities set like krypton and Zod said that he had never gotten used to their world he only got used to earth. It would be like the same as when he is around kryptonite
SlasherPsych_2989_xXx Yup. Never since Thanos did I understood a villian’s motivation. They’re just trying to rebuild their civilization no matter the cost.
R ef Why would they terraform mars when they already have a perfectly suitable environment on Earth? There is a reason why Earth has life and Mars doesn't. Earth's got a magnetic shield protecting life from harmful UV radiation, and it's got all suitable conditions for life to thrive. Why would Kryptonians go into all that trouble, trying to terraform Mars for years and years when they can easily terraform Earth in a few months or so?
While Terrence Stamp was very good as General Zod in Superman 2, Michael Shannon really killed it in Man of Steel. He portrayed an evil and charismatic despot capable of getting people to like him. With Kal-El he was playing the we missed you prodigal son where you won't be ostracized angle. I think if Kal-El didn't get his father's warning along with an extraordinary upbringing from his adoptive parents, it is very likely he would have joined Zod with no hesitation
Everyone is asking, why didnt Zod just go to other planets, and terraform it. Well, to make habitable planets, you need more than rocky surface itself. You need strong magnetic field, to protect you from star radiation; you need an atmosphere, at just the right temperature and pressure; you need gasses and organic materials which essentials to life as we know it; and obviously, you need water. Its clearly shown that the world engine is capable of just altering earth's gravity, by altering its mass or something. It maybe can alter atmospheric pressure at best, but clearly not to make all that ingredients essentials for life. Earth clearly has all that ingredients, and Zod would not want to wait or search other planets.
True but best bet with Zod being a supervillain and all is that he needed earths population for slave labour. Which is what I assume he is alluding too during the pile of human skulls scene. the world engine is basically just a weapon
@rubberkidney Well from a quick google search kyrptonians don't process high energy radiation like gamma rays and nuclear fallout well. Guess the type of radiation that the sun produces that Earth's magnetosphere protects us from?

"The foundation has to be built on something."
It's amazing to me how many people miss this line when they repeat "oh why didn't Zod use Mars" BS ad nauseam.

I respected Zod, he never told ONE LIE in his existance.
@@Killercoldice22 Anyone who respects an evil one simply because they are honest about being evil is a damn fool. That honesty alone does not change the fact that they are evil.
Sound familiar?
This exactly why I prefer DC. Because they actually make you think about how these heroes and villains have repercussions in the real world. The film was a complete package and an epic journey from start to finish. I love the graphic novels used, the properly executed punchlines, and the background of the characters introduced.

Me Too!
I like this movie more than any Marvel movie.

What i loved about Michael Shannon's portrayal of General Zod was you could see he was a walking ticking time bomb just waiting to go off at any moment and the fact that he was being so calm and talking very normal really created this uneasy feeling that made you feel really concerned about the possibility of him snapping. No typical villain speeches or one liners here, just a straight up badass with one goal: create a new Krypton for my people.
yep! You nailed that down perfectly. You can see his raw emotion and strength of character even when he's talking calmly and seriously.
My guy go write for a studio or something
Kind of his schtick, but he's probably the best at it. Same kind of feels in boardwalk empire.

Well said, i agree
Definitely better than Terrance Stamp's Zod. Though I'm not a fan of this movie I can agree Michael Shannon was an awesome Zod.
Until you realise he could've used the world engine on Mars.
As terrifying he was, I still found respect for General Zod for at least being polite to don't mind Superman called him by his name and even let him chooses which name (Kal el or Clark) he like to be addressed.

Why would Kryptonians go into all that trouble, trying to terraform Mars for years and years when they can easily terraform Earth in a few months or so?
Sir Hooks Not a very smart plan lol.
UV radiation from a yellow sun doesnt effect kryptonians.
While Terrence Stamp was very good as General Zod in Superman 2, Michael Shannon really killed it in Man of Steel.

Heh...well played Zod
Wow. I never saw it that way....
Which is what I assume he is alluding too during the pile of human skulls scene. the world engine is basically just a weapon
chris mcmorran what? All the humans would die from the increased gravity alone
@rubberkidney Well from a quick google search kyrptonians don't process high energy radiation like gamma rays and nuclear fallout well. Guess the type of radiation that the sun produces that Earth's magnetosphere protects us from?

Zod: I can't...
Lois: give him one of these mask thingies!

I guess Zod just wanted Superman to suffer and get on to his knees by himself.

Superman: Mission... accomplished...

"Where is the Codex, Cow?" Los subtítulos me matan jajaja
Where is the codex "Kal"

Well. Just Before that the sun is shown way closer aswell, besides its brightness being tuned significantly down. I think it is just for dramatic flair

Cole Jenkerson That actually seems real
Cole Jenkerson point
yeah me too . .. in JL trailer Steppenwolf said "No Kryptonian", so i think he said that because they already faced Kryptonian, and look at all their weapons ! it's all modern-high tech-powerful weapon . . maybe Kryptonian has caused a big demage to Darkseid army, that's why they really sure to invade earth, because "no Kryptonian here"
Can be true but didn't they took the world engine
Na did you listen? Lol without Superman’s planet throes colonies/ outpost died as well
Zac Snyder is expert in dream sequences. The way he depicts the scary nightmares is outstanding
I like how the phantom warp brought rocks into the movement, and threw them back out at the new location. It's like the ship was spreading Krypton's ashes, in a way.
I wish we could have a director's cut to this movie... It has been proven that Synder is a genius when it comes to making movies... he puts everything in balance
but this movie IS balanced
@@Modernww2fare There is a 4h cut of this movie though

I’d forgotten just how well orchestrated and dynamic this film was I wish they would make a Krypton only series of films the technology and costumes are simply breathtaking.
They did called krypton on scifi lasted 2 seasons ,my opinion if u dont mind the indie college film vibe set in a similar krypton but ultimately doesnt link up to MOS then its aight ..but no MOS krypton bits.i did sort of like braniac in that in concept not so much in execution .doomsday origin was pretty kool & lobo sucked honestly too much cringe ham up.
4:13 they actually hinted the black suit of superman ...in this movie....which we saw in Zach snyder's justice league
2:40
Jesus man, those space suits look so fucking badass!!!! Waaay too clean lmao I want to see more of those😂 Kal-el needs to go and find one of those kryptonian outposts, shit if he found a world engine and had some kids with Lois and a few other chicks he could go repopulate a new world like making Krypton Jr. on mars or another planet in the Milky Way Galaxy hahahaha
Probably the best DC movie out.
4:19 Instead of showing some nice flowers and sunset and happy life *everything you love dies*
"Where is the codex Cow?" with subtitles.
This shot of Zod at 0:13 ... might be the best single shot in all of DC movies.
Another Reason why Zod isn't evil is because here, he greets Kal with kindess and you can see the happiness in his face: 0:27
Also he was comforting Faora when she was heartbroken over the loss of Krypton, which most evil guys never do..
ALSO after Superman exposed the temporary weakness after Zod threatened Martha, you can see Zod's Disbelief of Kal El.
Also Zod didn't want to destroy humanity, but he clearly states: "If i had to do it again I would, for our own sake. The Foundation had to be built on something" "So we could spend years adopting like your son has?"
Zod was never evil. He was fiercely loyal to Krypton, as he was literally bred to be.
@@TheStraightestWhitest yeah be can't let his kryptonians coexist with earth because new born kryptonians would suffer like kal. Martha told clark that when he was little he suffered greatly where they were really concerned but Kal made it. Most new born kryptonians could die from this, while zod adapted, it was because he was bred to be a warrior and he was a fully growned adult.
@@sir.chewie6089 This. They'd have to breed everyone as warriors for Kryptonians to even be born without dying constantly, and that wouldn't work since they'd just end up like Zod and terraform Earth anyway.
No matter which way you put it, It's Earth VS Krypton.
@@sir.chewie6089 how would they suffer like Kal???.
@@TheStraightestWhitest He was loyal to Krypton, but that loyalty led him to attempt genocide of an entire world. Billions of people who had never done anything to them. I think committing genocide makes a person evil.
There's just so much psychology and atmosphere with the characters and what is happening it's just awesome.
It's also worth noting, that Zod wasn't a monster or bad guy. He was just doing what he was designed and grew up doing. He wanted to save his people and the ones he loved. If humanity was in that position, we would be in his shoes. It's so sad.
If the World Engine needed a foundation (life?) to build upon, it had obviously been used before. There had to be experiments where it had been tested on both life filled and dead planets. The Kryptonians might have committed genocide on a planetary scale before. It looks like that entire society deserved to die and the destruction of Krypton was a blessing to the universe.
Thats what they did in the movies..... They even went to earth in the ice age but I guess they didn't like it cause someone got out of thier pod and never went back to krypton....ww parents might be Kryptonian and she's actually a Kryptonian killer

In an alternate universe, Zod won and Terraformed earth and Now Darkseid and Steppenwolf are facing a whole race of superpowered kyptonians
new krypton kyrptonians would not have powers after terraforming. the powers are a result of earth actually being a hospitable planet. kryptons environment in comics is described as being one of the harshest in the entire universe. on krypton's toxic environment everything functions similarly to earth. all of the lifeforms from krypton when transported to other planets represent godzilla level disasters.

Ive written a sci-fi novel series, and the only relation my books have with this movie is the fact that there is an alien in it. But the amount of influence this film has had on me as a writer continues to evolve til this day. There is no other movie, not even my favorite movie series - The Matrix - that makes me feel the way this movie does. I often have trouble putting it into words, needless to say.
Faora-El is so pretty even when she crying ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the few Superman movies that look better every time I watch it, especially the design and the aesthetic of Krypton world and Krypton weapons, spacecraft, and uniforms.

Doc Strange : Zod! i've come to bargain!
Superman : o shit, wrong spell
0:40 “Mr. Zod I don’t feel so good.”
Just imgine if he said that! :)
At 2:00 onwards, in this scene when Faora is crying, General Zod comfort her by placing his hands on Faora's shoulder.
This is the same scene in which the movie Justice League (Snyder Cut): Superman crying losing Lois Lane hen Darkseid comfort him the same way General Zod did to Faora.
Maybe not now in the Marvel-Disney/superhero craze but this movie certainly will be better appreciated in the decades to follow.
