I am a serious knitter and crocheter I love this segment please continue to do these.
My cousin is getting married in a couple of days so I decided to make him a pillow and his fiancée a beanie. Came across this video and decided to try it for myself, but instead of two colors, I did one mint green color with a fabric strawberry charm sewn on the side. This was a great tutorial and this was pretty easy to follow considering I haven't knitted in such a long time. I'm actually pretty proud of the result! Hope she likes it! :D
Just used these instructions to knit my first hat! I only used one color yarn. I love it, thanks for making such a great video!!
Thanks for clear and simple instructions
Thank you!
ETA: just knitted my hat while watching YT videos, very happy about it! Best of luck!
My first attempt at a hat wasn't great so this time I used a stretchy cast on (the German twist cast on) and a stretchy cast off (the Icelandic cast off) and rather that reducing, I just casted off and used a crochet hook to join the sides. Then like a purse, I used the crochet hook to sew in some extra thread and pulled it before tying it 3, times for security and I'm loving my hat!
Ur tip with turning the hat over to avoid the sewed parts showing on the outside really helped thanks!❤️👍
I just knitted my first ever hat, found it tricky at the decrease, but it's turned out lovely. It's quite large, next time I'll make a smaller size. Pleased with it for a first try. I'm a beginner.
Wowoww I've been looking for a ribbed hat knitted on straight needles! This is a blessing! Thanks for this!! GOD BLESS. ♥️
Why use straight needles?
This is the easiest tutorial I've watched...thank you!
I agree. I watched one earlier that made a meal of showing casting on, before saying how many stitches to cast on.

Where have you been all my life? This is what I’ve been looking for. Thank you for your instructions. 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for this amazing, detailed tutorial! I knitted my first hat and I love how it turned out. I’m definitely going to wear it during the winter!!
Just a note, could've mentioned in the instructions that we need to alternate P2 K2 and K2 P2 rows.
YOU LIFESAVER i was so confused

The lady didmentioned purl and knit rib
what does that mean??
Ugh! I P2K2 for the entire 1st colour and later I’m like why doesn’t my design look like hers!! 😢 She needs to update the video instructions! So I’m just going to continue P2K2 and see how it turns out. Just hoping it stretches enough for the beanie. 🤞🏼
I learned this method of casting on when I was little but have never seen it used again until now. I thought maybe it was something that was made up lol. I was pretty exited to see it again, not going to lie 🤣😂
BRILLIANT thanks for showing how to make and decrease this hat .Beautiful finish. Keep Safe Bless x.
Thank You! I understand what your are talking about! I knitted two scarves. Now I can knit a hat to go with them! Thanks. Grateful for your help.
Great job on demonstration. How I wish I could have had access to this video when I was much younger. I can really appreciate the skill that goes into any knit caps and sweaters. Thank you for this video. Best wishes. Rose
I'm not gone on the colors of the hat, but totally appreciate the lesson. Plus, I'm in love with the sweater, looks so comfy and it's a really flattering colour on a very pretty girl.
What a lovely straightforward tutorial-my granny taught me way back in the 50's-same casting on👍
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial! I knitted my first hat and I'm in love with how it turned out! It was super detailed and it was really easy to follow along. Thank you!
When did you change needle?
This video was really well explained! I love this hat

I tried to make this hat. It was easy and fun!! Thank you for sharing this video
I just finished this cap. Thank you it was very well explained.
Thank you
Did she make this entire hat in 1 go?? That’s crazy this is about to take me 20 hours
Thank you so much! I was able to get it done under a week! Very simple and easy! My dad's birthday was coming up and I was able to finish it before his birthday! (Its on new years eve)
Thank you 😊
Thank you for wearing the hat at the end 🥰
Very well explained. Thank you! The hat looks so good on you!
I’m not sure if you’ll see this but would you say this could be a one size fits most? ♥️
In the video she says size 7 (US) needle, but the written pattern in the link of the comments says size 8 needle..... Also in the vid after the 1st decrease, she says continue in this alternating manner for 4 rows but in the written pattern, it alternates for only 3 rows. Can anyone clarify??
Wow too good.
Thank you so much!
So excited to try!
So we’ll explained! Love your vid ❤️
Summary (for knitting in the round):
7 + 4 = 11in total length before decreasing k2p2
1st decrease row: for every 4 stitches, stitch together stitches 3 and 4
k1p2 4 rows
2nd decrease row: knit together stitches 1 and 2 (using 1 2 3 4 pattern above, where 3 and 4 are now one stitch)
k1p1 1 row
3rd decrease: knit 2 together for entire row
knit final row. Slip off stitches and close up by threading through cut yarn. weave in ends.
Great!! Thanks!!!
Thank you for sharing😍
Wow it's great ❤
lovely
sorry im confused, i started with 2 purl and then 2 knit, but in the vid you say knit 2 purl 2 while your video captions say ' p 2 k2'.
after the first row would it be p2 k2( ive done a few rows of this) or k2 p2?
1. Row 2P 2K
2. Row 2K 2P
And so on :)
THANK YOU THIS COMMENT AND GLORIA because i was confused aswell. I'm on the advanced side of beginner knitting and i knew my stuff wasn't right from looking at it. thanks for explaining!
👌👌👌
Thank You berry much!
row 2 needs to be knit 2 purl 2
Thank you! This is my first project and I was wondering why mine looked different!!
Thank you SO MUCH!, I’ve been re watching over and over trying to figure out what stitch to start the second row with. This is my first knit project (I am a crocheted) and I was pretty sure there needed to be a specific pattern to it.
Make sure to follow our free pattern along with Mariana for this project. www.yarnspirations.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-master-catalog-spinrite/default/dw4dd1e6b4/PDF/PAK0116-030067M.pdf

Thank you for your detailed video, very clear and informative!
Have a blessed day 🙏🙏

Hi, when you are about to start the 1st decrease, if your last stitch of previous row was purl or knit? Just getting confuse with that.
💜😊
This was super easy to follow up with ❤️ thank you
Nice and easy method mam thanks.
Where do I find the pattern for this?
How many rows for the hat
This is how I was taught to cast on cool everything now is long cast on .
Thank you! The video was very understandable! :)
Glad it was helpful!
Love the way the toque turned out easy to follow instructions...just wondering if you have a pattern with ear flaps
I'm sorry, but what size is the yarn you used?
Can you tell me what yarn blend you use. I’ve had trouble with what I’ve chosen
beautiful
When you are about to 1st row decrease, what should be the last stitch of previous row be ? Purl or knit ?
Im a bit confused casting on only 70 stitches. Is this correct?
you're so amazing
nice explanation!
Ive just about mastered beginner techniques and would like to make this hat for my 2 year old.
Could I cast on a smaller amount of loops to make it smaller or would that mess up the pattern????
I love your tutorial. I knitted several hats for adults and they are perfect. Could you tell me how many stitches I should use for 5-8 year old child ? Should I reduce in the same manner as adults? Thanks in advance
Did u figure this out? Im making for 8 year old. How many stitches did u cast on with? What size needles did u use? Thank u!
Is there possibly a way to do this with super chunky yarn? What would you have to change? I'm trying to use 11 size needles
I need to make double the size hat. What size knitting needle should I use ? What length should I use ?
hii! im curious what kind/type of yarn did you use? is it milk yarn? thank you :)
so you need to alternate the way you start each needle purl or knit? it says in the video to start purl and just keep doing it like that but it doesn't give me rows, not really clearly said that you have to alternate stitches for every needle, finished on purl then start with knit... knitted like 5 needles for nothing because it isnt said clearly
continue purpling 2 and then knitting 2 for each row isnt a clear way to explain you have to alternate
Thanks I am a beginner
Can we just use 1 ball of wool for 1 hat of 1 color?
Hey Anouk. Yes, one ball of yarn should be enough to complete this hat in one color with enough left over to make a pom pom as well.
I am so gonna make that, Lol
HELP!!!!!!
I have just knitted a whole hat but NOT GETTING THE PATTERN!!!
I have I knitted all rows "purl 2 knit 2".
Someone in the comment pointed out that the knitting should have been:
Row 1: 2P 2K
Row 2: 2K 2P
Repeat in the 2 row pattern.
I have also noticed that i have cast on 70 stitches which is not divisible by 4, does this affect result?
How many stiches and what length for a 6 year old child?
I have no idea why anyone would choose to knit a hat flat… Circulars are the best
Sewing feels therapeutic to me
Thank you for this beautiful, yet simplified vedio 🤗, i just wanted to ask if i could use 6.5 size needle, with yarn similar to yours, thanks again 😉
Dík 🎉
Nice video 👌👌🤝🤝
Hello can you please show close up which bar you are referring to when seaming? I'm having a ridiculous amount of stress still after seaming a few hats and hand warmers I can't find a tutorial that shows up close
somebody please help! im trying to knit the first row and i start off with purl and end with purl. I'm supposed to end with the knit stitch, right?

Hi, I'd like to add a flame motif on this beanie, any idea on how could I do ? If possible with 3 colours, like black for the beanie and red and yellow flames for the motif.
Thank you in advance :)
For a 18 inch head circumference how many cast on stitches should I take
Thankyouil0vethishat
Did you use all of the both yarns?
great video. I have a question. How do you know what size of needles to use? I am using the recomended size for the yarn I bougth (6.5 mm) but is looking to loose.
Using the suggested needle gauge for the yarn you have should work. Check your tension, you might be working a little too loosely. If it's still too loose, try using smaller needles. Hope that helps!
Can I adjust the cast on to 60 for a newborn?
What is the yarn weight you used?
We used a worsted yarn that calls for a US 8 needle. Hope that helps! www.yarnspirations.com/stitch-club-easy-peasy-knit-hat-%2B-tutorial/PAK0116-030067M.html?cgid=020121-good-housekeeping-patterns#start=9
@@goodhousekeeping thank you very much, i figured that is a weight 4 worsted. it helped alot thx 👍
@@goodhousekeeping will this hat fit an adult male
What size is the yarn?
But why did you start with purling when you changed color?
Love your sweater DO YOU HAVE A. PATTERN?❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
You need to tell people to buy the shortest cable. Otherwise it becomes an exercise in exercising your hands and frustration level
Is there a video showing how to attach a pom pom to the hat?
What size needle did you use
