At 49 yrs old, I really like an 8.5 popsicle deck with 60mm filmer wheels. Fast, stable, and comfortable. Just Ollying around, cruising and manualling.
Nice! A few of the guys our age ride 8.5” popsicles up at my local skatepark.
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood I just finished my S&M Dagger build like yours today. I’m really excited about it. Can you share what shoes you wear when you ride yours? Skate shoes are too thin for me, I need something stiffer.
@@msmit001 How cool!!! 👊👊👊 I have a pair of Van’s TNT’s that I usually wear and they’re fine for me. But for mountain biking I have a pair of Five Tens that have stiffer soles. Something like these: www.adidas.com/us/adidas-five-ten-freerider-pro-canvas-mountain-bike-shoes/HQ2110.html
Great video! 50 years old here and I just finished a Winkowski Dope Planet set up as a cruiser board and am having lots of fun with it
I've been looking at a Winkowski deck pretty hard for my next one. I had a couple of cruz missile 2 concaves back in the day and loved them! The rocker gave it a low and stable feel as I recall, even with the half inch risers and 60mm wheels we all rode!
Thanks! That’s awesome. That Winkowski deck is sick, so cool to see more older skaters having fun! I’ll be 50 later this year 👊
@@IPretendtobeMe Those Per Welinder decks are so rad. My buddy Joe has one. Hoverboard on a Hawk blank?!?!? That sounds amazing!!
Sorry hear about your accident. It sort of comes with the territory, but that's a tough one. I broke my foot a few years back at the skatepark and tore some ligaments. Had to have 5 screws put in my foot to hold it all in place to heal. I sill have one in there permanently. And then about 6 months after I recovered, I broke my wrist on a mini ramp. Luckily, my wife has been supportive the whole time, and doesn't give me a hard time about hurting myself. I'm definitely more conservative now, but at 49... I have a few more years left in me, at least! Hope you heal up quickly. 👊
Dogtown sells pretty nice completes too. Old and new school
Great tip! And their designs are so classic too. My best friend had an Aaron Murray back in the day. I always loved that design.
Dude, the pre-order Series 15 Bones Brigade decks sold out LIGHTNING FAST today! That green Hawk deck woulda been rad too.
Yeah. I’ve been spending so much on bikes and skateboards lately, so I took a pass on series 15. But I agree on that green Hawk. So cool!!! 🤩
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood Yeah, I was kinda glad it sold out before I spent MORE money on it! Still got 2 Vision Mark Gonzalez decks I need to finish up.
@@shawkes6775 Good perspective 👍
This channel is totally rad dude!
Thanks so much for the encouragement 🙏👊👊👊
I've been wanting to try a modern twin tail. Chocolate/Girl has one I've got my eye on. If I find it on sale, I'm going to scoop one up!
Awesome!!! I’ve been riding an 80s board for a while now. And I’m ready to go back to a narrower one again, just cause it’s fun to change it up from time to time. Not sure if SoCal Skateshop has the one you want in stock, but they frequently have 15% off sales. Wouldn’t be surprised if they do a sale for Presidents’ Day.
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood I just checked and they have one in 8.5. I want 8.25 shape G069. I'm still looking!
I find the idea of a twin tip (same size nose and tail) pretty interesting!!! I currently ride a 8.3 popsicle, but have two 8.5"s and a shaped welcome board thats just under 9"...
@@Speedwobble13 I have a Welcome board around 8.75 too 👍
Thanks matt this has helped my decision making im going down the build my own line !! ....great video matt
Thanks Stu!!!! That’s awesome. Would love to know what you end up with in your build! 👊
I will keep you posted Matt I'm definitely a powell peralta fan !!
@@stuartpointer1661 Right on. Me too!!! 👊

@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood I'm always rocking some One's 🔥
Buy from a local skate shop! Most important thing!
Totally agree, assuming you have one within driving distance and they can get what you’re looking for. 👍
@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood very true haha if not… buy from a core shop online!!
