You have a special gift with your voice and wordings ❤ l loved Claudette Colbert and remember seeing this film in one of those old movie houses in New Orleans. I remember this actress but never knew her name. They were some pretty women and handsome men back then. Thank you for bringing back the golden age of Black talent, beauty, grace, and intelligence. ❤❤❤

My Grandmother, Almeda, was born 2 years later in 1907. I too found her final resting place in an unmarked Grave in S. Los Angeles. I remedied that and have someone in my family I was Looking for even though My Grandmother past away in Chicago in 1944 way before I was around.

I can't think of her name at the moment (maybe THOMAS), the beautiful young woman who played "Theo's" and "Steve Erkle's" girlfriend, this reminds me of her. Thank you for telling her story, and all your videos!

She was so good in the Claudette Colbert film the Torch Singer! They made a way ahead of it's time film together. Their friendship in the film was unheard of and kicked Jim Crow in the balls. Pre Code films were allowed to do and say much more. There might had been a very subtle implication that they were lesbians, but I would need to do a rewatch to see if one can read that into it (if I recall they are often filmed near a bed together). I was hoping maybe to learn how the country reacted to her death. A famous actress dying at 28 had to had been a shock. She was so beautiful too. Artie Young had an interesting acting career about the same time period, but she lived a longer life. This is a nice acting career summary, but missing some other films, like Morning Glory (with Katharine Hepburn and Douglas Fairbanks) and Blonde Venus (with Marlena Dietrich and Cary Grant). She appeared in films with some of the top actresses of the decade. I just watched her in a small maid part in Bed of Roses with Constance Bennett which brought me here. I love the narrator's speaking voice... Although Torch Singer was spoken a little too quietly. Thanks for posting this. She is such a forgotten piece of African American History, film history, and Los Angeles history too. There should be a street or school named after her.

She was so young and beautiful, but, died to soon. At least she made something of herself back then when it was so hard for blacks to into movies.
