    She was a very beautiful lady, the way GOD made her. I don't agree with her insisting she should be black because that just played into the white racists' 1 drop rule. She should have been happy that she had the best of both worlds, been both black and white at the same time.

  •  2 месяца назад

    That's just stupid, she most likely had more white genes in her than black genes, so she refused to pass as white is also herself denying the white part in her, so in effect she was discriminating against her own white genes/ white self. Why can we love ourselves for who we are?

    So she has 2 black parents and looks white. Well Michael Jackson has a daughter Paris who has a white mother and when she calls herself black, you discredit her and bully her into "white." Ignorance is the problem.

    I just finished watching imitation of life again. I remember when I was a kid the scene at the end where is she throws herself and her mother's ciffin tore my heart out then and still to this day does and I'm sixty eight years old now. In tears as I write this. Her and Louise Beavers were such good actresses and very believable. Rare talents for any day and age. ❤

    I’m Caucasian and can’t help what God made me to be. I don’t have any “pride” about it, I just am and can’t do a thing about it. My mom was Italian and my dad German-Irish. I surely don’t think all Caucasian people are my “people,” a lot of them are total a-holes.

Adopted into a Family of Elders of Color it was curious to watch the passing thing with one of three sisters, 2 of which proudly acknowledged they were Black 🧐 how much of passing infiltrated the masses so many folx who believe they're white are hating their Relatives 🤔💜🌎

    I don't understand why everyone has to put people in a category. It just doesn't make sense. All I can say is it hurts sometimes when your own race doesn't recognize you. So I admire Fredi Washington for her achievements and talent. It must have been difficult for her but she surpassed the odds.

  • @CourtneyKing-ln7kq
    @CourtneyKing-ln7kq 6 месяцев назад

    Fredi did not pass as white, she was accepted by whites. Look at her roles, the industry and public knew she was mixed race. She did play a as white in a couple of movies but she played far more roles a black girl. By her on admission she claimed to be "a negro". However she was mixed race. No person has a choice in choosing their parents. I never understood why mixed race people claim to be a be of only one race when the evidence says otherwise .

    This is a great video. It reminded me of a family story. My godmother was of mixed heritage and looked like your everyday garden variety white woman. It also infuriated her to be mistaken for white. As a little girl I always thought she was white and expressed that to my mom. I remember my Mom's eyes got large and she said, "No, baby, she's NOT white. Don't ASK her that." And I was a smart 5 year old, I shut up LOL. She was married to a light brown black man with gray eyes and they adopted a mixed son who looked like a FINE Italian. She and my paternal grandmother (who was deep chocolate) were ace boons who went EVERYWHERE together, and one day some white woman made the mistake of remarking to Aunt M "how nice it was that she took her maid out shopping with her." Granny just stepped back and watched the floor show 🤣🤣🤣.
