I don't like when people use modern views to see how bad things were back then . How could they embrace blackness when those in charge of "American beauty" didn't want them. In the Caribbean there are many stories of American companies only choosing the lightest of complexion to represent their ads. Lighter skin women were forced to deny their blackness to get better opportunities or else it would feel like they've wasted their chance.

It was an informative fact filled Bio. However, "DON'T GET IT TWISTED", we are NOT one people under God. Collectively, as a SET, we are PEOPLE differing from that larger set of creation (encompassing everything), which have SUBSETS; people are one of these subsets. Under this primary set are subsets attributed to people, that can be referenced by differing races. When you fill out a JOB APPLICATION they (the Powers that be) make it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that all people are NOT THE SAME. No disrespect, but wipe the cold out your eyes and remove that shroud that's blocking your vision "to see" reality.
Furthermore, in grammar regardless of language these following words are synonymous and interchangeable in writing and conversation: people, race, nation. Please try them in a sentence to gain and develop a better sense of self identity so you don't convolute or dilute your identity awareness. Because, generationally black people have been psychologically trained and reprogrammed mentally to accept this ONE RACE THEORY, and its exactly that a theory; it does not exist. In the Holy Bible (KJV only) it is made ABUNDANTLY CLEAR by THE ALMIGHTY GOD, JESUS CHRIST, that HE established and created PEOPLE of many races or MANY RACES of people or MANY NATIONS of people or PEOPLE of many nations, (Gen. 10:5, Deut. 32:8).

Thanks for posting. So little information is written about Ms Washington but she became one of the earliest Black actresses to obtain an improtant role in a major film in 1934. Opposite Claudette Colbert and Louise Beavers in an Imitation of Life. Both Fredi and Lena Horne refused to pass for White at a time when Jim Crow was the order of the day. Each of these women could have had flourishing careers if they had.
Like actress Merle Oberon. Ms Oberon was a racially mixed actress who concealed her Indian ancestry and passed as a British actress. She went on to star in a number of major films produced mostly in England and even in Hollywood. Such as Wuthering Heights, The Lodger and The Scarlett Pimpernel. Ms oberon even passed her Indian mother as her maid when she visited her home in England! She later revealed her true Anglo-Indian heritage after the Jim Crow Laws were abolished.
Dona Drake also passed at the height of Jim Crow in Hollywood. She became a contract player and married costume designer William Travilla. I would love to see a bio on her as well. And Carol Channing who found out later as she aged that she too possessed African-American ancestry.

      @bobbyschannel349 Год назад +1

@@JorJorCrelatto I disagree with you. And let me tell you why..
you have to understand that black Americans are an ethnic group
That's one of the reasons why Freddy Washington's family is able to identify ethnically as black.
A Wesley Snipes belongs to the same ethnic group as someone like a Vanessa Williams exedra..
When you have people like Don cheto 18% European but looks 100% West Central African. Or Samuel l Jackson. a picture of his fourth great-grandfather who is a white man, and he looks fully West African. Phenotypes is obsolete, you can't really go by that. I can tell by how you talk you are not very connected to the Black American society.
Because you definitely do not know us very well, but that's okay.
Lots of black people don't know who they are or what are..
If that was the case you'll literally disqualify half of the Black American ethnic group as a mixed-race mulatto community, as opposed to black...
We come in many different manifestations and many different types of percentages we are of mixed heritage and have admixtures even though we don't accept or identify with that.
that's just simply who we are.
We are not pureblood West Central Africans.
That's not what my grandmothers are that's for sure.
      We in the Black American
community have many different types of mixtures some more than others.
Even within our families.. we have different percentages..
And I disagree with you when you say 1/4 black makes you more mixed. As opposed to being part as opposed to the average percentage of Europeans black Americans have in them.
Well, when I go on RUclips and look at all these black Americans with 22% European. And then when I've seen this Nigerian woman did her DNA results it's 100% black..
      That's significant.
It also tells you that black Americans have a different DNA..
      By Listening to you though...
I can tell by looking at your comment. That You may have very recent European bloodline in you.,
you are directly related to white people.
Because you talk that way. You may have a mother a grandmother or many family members on both sides of your families who are white... By definition makes you mulatto. But you are not a Freddy Washington.
And I don't believe you have her kind of family. Because she comes from a black American family..
      But that's okay.
If you identify yourself as mixed. That's fine. But many black people in this country, do not.
      And the reason why,
      Again,
we identify with ethnicity. The average black American have the DNA of one white grandparent. Many people in this community have the same bloodline as Fredi Washington.
I have members in my family that passed as White too. A Great aunt who move from Louisiana, to Oklahoma, and then finally to New York in the 1930s she married a white man.. by the way..
I'm dark skin on this side of the family..
no one's going to tell me that my family members are mixed-race group of people that are part of another ethnic group.
I am not going to be different from my grandmother...
      If black Americans like yourself.
      Or mulatto...
(Because I do believe that you have recent White relatives...)
If you Want to identify as something different because you feel different or whatever the case may be. So be it!.
