She should have a DNA test done to verify her true heritage. Perhaps she was given up because she was probably fathered by a man of color. I was adopted. In my 20s, I received paperwork that identified both bio parents as white. Then, in my 30s, I reunited with my bio dad the entire family on that side. Family lore of my gg-grandmother passing, along with genealogical research that suggested the same, pointed to mixed ancestry. The research, later backed up by dna testing, showed that to be the case (descended from African American slaves on at least one line.) It answered questions for us. I would guess something similar for this woman.

I'm a brown American woman with Mexican and indigenous blood and my birth certificate (California) says "Caucasian." The reason for that is that their racial classifications then were only white, Caucasian, black or Asian and if the baby didnt fit any of those "race" classifications then they picked the closest one that fit.
When my father passed away, we corrected his racial classification by stating his correct race which is "Native American" and that was very important to us because when he was born in 1915. his birth certificate was classifying him as "white" for race. It meant a lot to us to finally put my fathrrs correct race on a government document.

Her mom must have Been white passing bcos if u look at her hair texture, her hair was afro like but not that much.
Don't forget that back then being white passing was a way out for a better life and most white ppl today have about 15% blackness in them bcos in the past, some black ppl were passing bcos they looked white physically.
Genes are extraordinary tbh and they play a huge part in physical looks. For example, back in Africa there is this two black couple who gave birth to a white baby with blue eyes and blonde hair and DNA was done to prove that the father was actually the biological father and that is proof that in this World, we might look a certain way but not knowing our genetic selves. A lot of Black ppl in the US have about 5% drop of white in them and not only US but every place where white ppl stepped on, they mixed everything even genetically.
Sometimes the mother might have not cheated as most ppl say in the comments section but maybe even the father had a drop of blackness in him which played a huge role in how the baby came out looking like. We never know ppl! ❤

This just proves, as scientists have acknowledged, that race is just a social construct as opposed to ‘ethnicity’ which is more relevant.
