Gosh, I still miss Melanie so much. She was such a bright light on this platform, taught me a lot. Much love to her family. ~Cynthia
😢 me too
It’d still so surreal to me. I watched the documentary again this morning and just cried. So young and so not deserved. ❤
@@whitneyhoffman5749 I agree. She was a treasure and is so missed by thousands. I'm grateful to Robert for leaving her trove of videos up for us to enjoy and honor her.
Just want to leave a HUGE thank you to Melanie's family for leaving all of her wonderful videos up for us followers to continue to reference! This ripple blanket was the first project I ever completed as a novice crocheter. This would've never been accomplished without Melanie's careful explanation & bright spirit!! She was truly, truly inspiring! She lives on through the beautiful things she created and I am thankful I am still able to learn from her. She will be forever missed.💕
❤
Could you help my blanket ended with a Increase instead of a decrease what do I do for My second row?
Thank you for not taking her page down. I use her patterns.
Everytime I watch Melanie's videos, I get so sad. I miss her so much!
Me too 😢😢
Just discovered Melanie's videos. She was a gifted teacher, so I'm heartsick for her family and for our community of her appreciative students.
RIP, Melanie. Thanks for helping me get back into crocheting after so many years. You were an inspiration, and had the greatest spirit. You'll be missed.
I still love this pattern, I still keep this video in my list. I haven’t forget you. We miss you ❤
I learned quilting with Melanie 10 years ago and now I watch her crochet videos. Still love her voice and personality. Her legacy is amazing ❤️
I’ve purchased the exact yarn she used - since she taught me this stitch and made it so easy I want a little reminder of her - so matching blankets it is. The world definitely lost a bright light the day she passed.
What a wonderful idea! I just went yarn stash shopping and I have all the right colors. Guess I know what I am starting today.
I so miss you Melanie Ham you were awesome & in honor of you I will try my hand at the ripple stitch and make a blanket. You are forever in y heart🧡😥
i am reading the comments.. what happened to Melanie?
Just started this blanket using donated wool. Found the tutorial very easy to follow. I've done 2 rows already! Thank you Melanie and your family for continuing to allow us access to these wonderful videos.
Who's excited for a new fall crochet project! I've got an easy and adorable fall crochet ripple blanket that goes nice and slow. Great to work on as the evening get chilly, but it doesn't take a ton of brain power - you can watch netflix while you do it ;). If you like it, could you give me a thumbs up? I appreciate you! Happy Stitching!
Bring it on :)
I miss watching you Melanie. You taught me so much when I started out crocheting again 🩷
Tonight I'm gonna start this blanket as a present for my best friend that lives very far from me. Hopefully I'll have it done by Christmas. Wish me luck. Melanie, you were one of a kind. We will continue doing your videos and we love you 😍
I'm glad her channel is still active...she was a beautiful soul and always felt the goodness she shared in her post
Sending to family with love, thank you for keeping being you. God love you
Missing you Melanie though still enjoying the heck outta your tutorials. Thank you for keeping them up! Love, prayers and hugs to Melanie's loved ones.
Love how simple you have made this pattern. So easy to follow. Thank you Melanie x
I LOVE the way you show us how to add a new colour & when to add it. Crocheting in the back stitch when changing colour gives that lovely "ridge" look to your work & I'll be using it on all my chevron & ripple blankets from now on.... BIG THANKS MELANIE
I am absolutely loving this pattern! The ridge makes such a clean beautiful line between each color. Love love love!
I Love Love Love that you are doing the whole blanket and not just a sample...that really helps me... Big Thumbs up
👍
Wanted to start a new blanket, when I saw this video come up I knew I had to make it. Melanie was so awesome, miss her and hope her family and friends are doing well. God bless you all!
Oh, gosh. I just started following this lovely pattern, not realizing she had passed. My sympathy to all who are missing her.
Hi Melanie 😃
Just taking a moment to say thank you! I only watch a few RUclips contributor’s tutorials. One of my first crochet projects that were good enough to gift to someone were products of your basket tutorials. The recipients were very happy to have more original organisation vessels. Thank you!
You explain the processes, the why’s, the alternatives so beautifully and I feel as though you give us so much of your patience and time and skills. I cannot thank you enough for making it look so easy... which gave me the confidence to try things I found daunting. Very simply, thank you for being you! I love this ripple blanket and look forward to creating a few, as gifts. One of these days, I’ll actually, keep one of my crochet projects for myself. 😂 keep being awesome, please!
🥰
You explained each step very well, the edging is perfect, the biggest difficulty with crochet is knowing where the very edges of your work are. I kind of like the hanging bits on the blanket you did about 10 years ago, adds whimsy. Thanks Melanie.
My favorite pattern and so much fun crocheting along with you. Keep 'em coming 🧡 Awesome tutorial, you do a great job teaching crochet!
Thank you for this wonderful video! I love your "explain-as-you-go" tutorial and I think I can do this! I have crocheted 40+ years and this will be my first Ripple afghan! Thank you!!!
You're tutorials are ALWAYS valuable!!👧
Thank you so much for your easy to follow instructions. I've looked at a few other videos but yours is by far the easiest for me to understand.
So I've no excuse now but to start my blanket 💖💖💖
I am making one right now in teals and blues. Thank you so much for all you do!
When I have to count a lot of stitches, I use locking stitch markers ever 25 stitches so that if (when lol) I lose count, I only have to count my 25s or since my last marker. You could also use safety pins.
I'd definitely have to use markers as intervals, otherwise I'd spend alot of time counting and unraveling, then just end up giving up in the whole project.
I did use but I really can't see what I did wrong. Started all over and had one stitch left, but I did not end up with 5 Double Crochet stitches but with a decrease. I decided am going to keep it that way. Doing a big blanket and didn't know what the end of first row gonna look like or end with.
This is genius because I can't count for the life of me
@@RedeemedbHim my stitches are slightly off as well. I think as long as you end it with 2 dc (to keep the edge straight) it shouldn't matter! it does make it slightly more confusing for me, but it is coming out great!
👍 tip
This is AMAZING. I am about 1/4 of the way through my blanket and I am so happy I found this tutorial! My boyfriend's mom makes the cutest crochet blankets and I wanted to make one as well, and this is perfect. Also, the Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek yarn is awesome, and so many color choices!
Can't believe you're gone....youre AMAZING!😢💛💛💛
I just started this afghan yesterday and I love the pattern. You wouldn’t believe how long I’ve wanted to do a ripple afghan. Thanks for inspiring me to get it done 😆
Thank you for showing this stitch. I was having trouble with it but you explained and showed it so much better!!
I just started crocheting again and have been looking on RUclips for good tutorials. I have tried using crochet books but I can't follow them. Your tutorial is perfect! I will have to buy more yarn so I can make this blanket. I just made hats and scarves and simple blankets for Christmas presents this year.
Absolutely ❤️ your work! Your color choices are always pleasing to the eye!
Thank you so much for teaching us how to create this wonderful blanket. I haven’t tried a blanket yet. Hopefully soon I’ll work up the confidence to try this. I’ve been crocheting since April
Your videos are so motivating! Please keep them coming!
My favorite hooks as well
I'm using this pattern to make a watermelon colored baby blanket for our third child. After attempting many ripples that just didn't seem to be written correctly (or maybe just clashing with my baby brain) this one is a huge success. Thanks so much!!
This was my first big crochet project I am forever grateful for your videos rip gorgeous ❤️❤️
Finally, this is so easy to follow, thank you. God bless you 🙏
Such a great pattern and as usual I love your tutorial/style of explaining! Thanks so much for sharing, excited to get crocheting 🤗
Understood your directions perfectly! I used to make the chevron aphgan with the holes in it for years. This is much better.
I like the chevron pattern. Love the colors. Thank you for the demo.
Your 1st blanket is BEAUTIFUL!! I would LOVE those colors!!
I started out making a ripple afghan that is in 3's instead of 5's and I love this one so much better. It is my go-to pattern. I can whip up one of these in 2-3 days and everyone loves them. I think I'm on #16. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for thoroughly explaining how to make this stitch. I've tried several times and always end up off. I almost threw in the towel. I will try again following your instructions 🤗
I am excited about starting to crochet again. I have chemo every other week and this project is perfect to keep me busy and help the time pass by! Also, love the color combo! Thanks Melanie!
Wendy Williams got me through chemo!
This is a fantastic tutorial. You’ve made it so easy. Thank you.
I'm not much on counting my self. But I'm Sure I can do this one. Thank you Melanie for being so patient with all of us beginners... 😊👍💖
Thankyou Melanie. This is just beautiful. I also love your color combinations xxx
I wanted to create a ripple blanket for a room I am giving a facelift. I could have got this anywhere but Melanie was the queen and I wanted to hear her voice and perfect instructions 💔
Life got busy and crazy and I was trying to remember a time when things were peaceful….and I remembered you. You are truly missed. Praying for you hubby and kids.💕
Excellent tutorial! I have tried this blanket a few times and I always get off on my decrease or increase stitches. You have inspired me to try again. Thanks so much!

It still throws me for a loop when I see a video by the wonderful Melanie Hamm. RIP Melanie
REST IN PEACE… I had followed these tutorials for years, and I really needed help with the stitch and as always her explanation made it so clear to me for this project. God bless the family.

Love your videos Melanie! So fun and amazing thank you for your content :)
I’ve been wanting to make another blanket!
beautiful blanket! so appreciate your talent.
Very pretty. I have not made one like this yet.
So I know you did this video two years ago but I love it, the only thing I changed was instead of chaining up three at the ends I did a a chain 2 and used stitch markers at the ends. This ended up not creating that little gap you get between your chain 3 and first double crochet. I use the stitch markers at the ends just to make sure I don't forget the two double crochets at the end.
Made this but with Bernat Blanket Yarn instead. Love it!! Thank you for making the pattern easy to follow!
Hi Tiffany.. I’m wanting too to make this with blanket yarn.. mine wanting a 40”x60” blanket. How big did u make urs and how many beginning chains did u do?
Thank for any help and advice! 😊
