@@CrochetJewel that's supposed to be"skip at the dip". The chevron aphgan-in "lilac", navy blue, pale flat yellow and fuschia will be the even numbered rows. Creme is the odd numbered rows. Done in 4 weight acrylic yarns. I'll be crocheting it as a surprise gift to a Canadian, from me-an American! My friend-a Canadian pastor- is pretty much "out of the loop", so he can't "spill the beans" about the gift! He's known his friend for multiple decades-so they're close-thats why he has to be kept out of the loop pertaining this gift! You've helped me to pull off the BEST coup EVER in giving a hand-crafted gift, to get passed down to his kids and grandkids when the time comes! 🧶👍🤓⭐⭐⭐❤️😇🐻😁Doug

YAY....YAY...and more YAY.....I finally learned how to do this stitch! I have tried for 40 yrs to make an afghan like this, and could never understand the directions. I have issues with reading a PAPER pattern, but once you show me how to make something and show me what the abrev. in the written pattern are, I can follow along.

Hey! Thanks for this video. I needed reminded of the stitch count etc. I am using 3 gauge acrylic, 3.25 hook… so, I needed a bigger chain. I noticed that all the chain measures were 21 stitches apart. I did the math. I came up with 293 chain stitch start for a decent size blanket. It is for my 3 yr old. Should be perfect. I am heading for my third row, and it’s perfect. Thanks again! 👍🏼😊 God bless you.

Thank you SO much for doing this video so thoroughly and simple. I tried out two written ripple patterns, and they were just over complicated. My numbers just didn't work out either time. I was so discouraged and wasted probably 5 hours trying it out, because of how large I wanted the Afghan. I decided to look on here and I am beyond grateful that I found your video. You explain things so well and you crochet beautifully. You hold your hook the same way my Mommom did, I hold mine differently. Watching you made me miss her so much! She is the one who taught me the lovely crochet world at about 5 years old. Thank you again, so much!

Thank you so much for this pattern tutorial. I just wanted to add that if a deeper v is desired (11 up and 11 down) the repeat is multiple of 25 plus 24. I like your edge finish leaving the last unworked.

Hello Amy. Just to begin, your ripple stitch blanket has to be the most complete pattern I have seen. Your concise explanation and your math configuration was spot on. I used red heart with love for the blanket and size I-9 hook. The width came out to 52 inches rather than your 44 but I'm ok with it. I also did the 251 cast in as well. Enjoying the project immensely. Your aunt was a godsend to pass on her pattern and cast on numbers to you. Thank you Amy and many blessings to you and your family. Ken

This is a great, easy to follow pattern! I apologize if it's in the video, but it looks like to come up with the number of chains for the foundation stitches, it's multiples of 21, then subtract one from that. If that's helpful to anyone. But the list of foundation chain numbers in the video was really comprehensive!

The pattern repeat is 21+ 20. Chain in multiples of 21 until you get it almost as long as you want. Then add 20 more.
why do i need to add 20?

I’m struggling. I have done this pattern 3 times. I have unravel the yarn 3 times. I’m doing the pattern just as you say. I come up short at the end. I only have 9 left as you show, you have 10 left. I’m using the 125. The smallest blanket. Could it possibly be 126 instead of the 125. Please help. I really want to make this blanket for my newly born grandchild. Thanks

If u don't want a line in it crochet through the front n the back stitch.... then u have no line
I had begun to learn crocheting from my mom, however she passed away before teaching me the art of crocheting afghans (I began with dish cloths and the basic stitches). . Love this pattern, thank you! No problem as long as a person counts the pattern comes out perfectly. I used the colors cream, soft grey and blue. I will def make this patter again. 😊

Thank you! This is beautiful and you are an amazingly patient teacher. I imagine your fingers want to just fly! The math helped me tremendously thank you for that little helper as well. Special recognition so many videos I have watched I have to turn the sound off because they play music to loud. Or they don't talk at all. I made 2 afghans with your instructions; one exactly like the one shown and then a single colored one with tassels on each point. I made this and it was soooo pretty. I finished it just after Christmas for my son. I made it in University of Kentucky blue and white. This is my favorite project I've done so far. Both my daughters are jealous and want one now too.

I actually chained 200, and on round 3 from foundation I started my pattern at count 5 chains, and on the 6th count I would either add 3 or skip 2, and I add 3 on the peaks and skip 2 in the valleys, and mine is looking good! Doing it in ash blue and baby pink, I will do a double border around mine with slip stitch foundation! So my actual row end count I have 214 cause I add 3 to the peaks, and skip 2 in the valleys, so I carry the 2 skipped and have 1 left over so total of 214 per row.

I used to be afraid to try different things (crochet, cooking, quilting, etc) for years....now 68 and last year started trying lots of new crochet patterns. Guess what... they aren't hard at all!!! Some may take a bit of time and u may need to keep a close watch on your stitches, but not hard. I made my first 'Grinch' scarf last year to see if it would sell at craft show...it did! Plan to make several this year. Please don't wait years to try new things. I made my first crocheted heart at age 68 and it was so easy, yet looking at it...for years... terrified me....how sad is that?!! aw, bummer, not sure why its not working out, all I can say is make sure you count all your stitches and follow the pattern, make sure you have 3 sc in the peak and skip when it says. and skip at the end and turn. ect..

If u wanted to make it bigger or smaller it's seem to be to add or subtract 21 from the numbers provide. There three more sizes between 188chains and 251chains just ad or subtract 21 from said numbers
