  • Crochet an easy Chevron Blanket! For this blanket I am using beautiful shades of Bernat Super Value in Royal Blue, Peacock Blue, Cool Blue, and White to create a look of waves. I will be adding my OCEAN FRIEND APPLIQUES to the blanket when it is finished.
    As you can see, the chevron works like a zig-zag line that is made up of peaks (points) and valleys (dips). I am using 3 DC for the increase (peaks) and a SC Decrease over 3 stitches for the valleys (the dips). Then all you need to do is make a SC in the 4 stitches between each peak and valley. You will get the hang of it by the second row!
    Feel free to make the blanket as small or large as you'd like!
    You will work is multiples of 12 +2
    The blanket I am working on has a starting chain of 110 (12 x9 = 108 +2 = 110) and is about 24 inches wide. This is a small blanket so feel free to go larger! Use a starting chain fo 122, 134, 158, 170, 182, 194, 206, etc.

    I learn visually and find that your hands are moving too fast for me, making it difficult to get a clear picture of what you are doing. I'm going to try this beautiful pattern as I want short peaks and valleys so I slowed the speed of the video down but because of the speed your hands are moving, it makes it blurry a bit. But I finally got it. Thanks for the tutorial. I appreciate it.

      Remember folks that you can always speed any video down that goes too fast for you. Touch the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the video. It says playback speed. Click on that and slow it down ever how slow you may need it to be. 😊

    Update: it’s now 3:30 am and I have attempted this pattern 5 times, unraveled, and have followed the instructions to a T, WITH her, and it’s not working at all. I do not remember my grandmother or mother having this much trouble on a chevron pattern, and I definitely don’t remember having to count each stitch. Every time I try this pattern, it’s perfect in the center, but ends up uneven on one or both sides. This is NO fun, and I’m done with this pattern. Never again. 😡 Everyone who actually has this work out like it’s supposed to must be a witch or a unicorn or something. I don’t have the magic and it p*sses me off to no end.
    I’m not a beginner at all, and have literally spent all of today trying to make this design. I haven’t been able to find a pattern or tutorial that doesn’t make me want to pull my hair out, and I am beyond frustrated that I have wasted an entire day and literally have nothing to show for it, because I unraveled everything. Thank you for this video-it’s not too fast for me and you don’t spend 10 mins talking about the yarn. Lol The only thing I would change is to not match the hook to the yarn color. It was a bit hard for me to differentiate without contrasting colors. Other than that, I feel I may be able to accomplish making something with the help of this video. If not, may heaven hear me, that I’ll never do this pattern again. Today was miserable. Lol

I noticed that in the written description of this video and also on your website description for this pattern, they both say that you are using 3DC for the increase (peaks). Luckily for me I payed more attention to this video instead of the written description. I was, however, very confused at first..I think I finally got it and I'm on the 6th row. Pray for me to get it right all the way through. I don't want this to be the project that forces me to throw in the towel lol

    • @chickenalpaca0332
      @chickenalpaca0332 2 года назад +1

      Do you mean bigger peaks and valleys? I haven't tried it myself but I'd imagine you just multiply 12 by how much bigger you want them and multiply the number of sc by the same number. So like if you wanted them twice as big you'd make the starting chain in multiples of 24 + 2 and you'd do 8 sc in between the increase and decreases

    • @astro17165
      @astro17165 2 года назад +1

      More stitches between I’m been messing with the count and it seems to work is you just count it out as number of stitches between and the 1 or 3 chains so say you wanted a chevron with 8 up to peak and 8 to the valley. You would chain 20 for one peak and valley set
