I'm not sure if these comments are being read anymore, but this is insanely good video. I've never hit a driver like I did today. I hit a 450 yard par 4 with driver 6 iron. Literally the week before I was ten yards short with driver 4 iron. I'm going to join Mr. Cogorno's site. This video and the twist release videos snapped so many pieces of the swing into place. Don't sway off the ball, tilt forward then back, weight left and make sure to twist the shaft closed to take away the right side of the course = an 80 at an insanely tough track with two buddies who played college golf. Thank you. This is the first youtube comment I've ever written.

This method is the only real sustained improvement I have had in many years of trying to learn. I have shaved over 10 strokes off my typical round in the year I have utilized this set of principles to swing, and haven’t even practiced short game once in the year. I have missed one fairway in the past 3 rounds I have played. These golf swing principles that these guys teach have worked for me.

I think Saguto's tilt is different. He says you tilt at the start of the take back. In other words you don't turn your shoulders you tilt into the ball which brings your back shoulder back and up naturally. I think combining Saguto with this would work.
It's really cool to see u and tom doing videos together. Tom's method has also changed my game and perspective on the game. Making golf great again!! Keep up the good work guys!!

@@CogornoGolf DO you mean I can't mix the "swing for senior" backswing tip (weight on front foot and shirt button towards the sky) and this stack and tilt method ?
I love this method. Has really improved my golf after 20 years in the wilderness. Still struggling to transition from backswing down to downswing though.

Another great video. I am a little confused by the label stack and tilt though. Your side clips show a lot of great players exhibiting the same movements. Have you just picked out some components of st that align with traditional golf instruction?
Hey Dave! I think ALL of stack and tilt aligns with good golf swings....depending on who's version you talk to you might be able to pick out 1-2% that someone doesn't agree with but the 3D movements of stack and tilt are simply what good players do....so you should see those elements there :)
G'day Eric. Watching your videos makes me want to get back out on the course again. I think my last round was over 12 months ago and where I live you can play year round. I'll go down to the driving range only 10 minutes away and try some of this instruction. Thanks for the great videos, but damn you make it look easy. Cheers from Aus. :)
I bought the Stack 'n' Tilt DVDs years ago and tried the system, and it seemed to work with irons, but I had trouble with the driver. Also, because I've had surgery on my left (leading) knee, I had a VERY hard time with the Stack 'n' Tilt's system of having you start with slightly more weight on your lead leg, and INCREASING the weight onto your lead leg in the down swing, not shifting your weight onto the trail leg as is commonly taught. Felt sharp pain and felt like my lead knee was going to collapse in the back swing, so I gave it up.
I think this video shows an element of S&T on the downswing, not the whole S&T process as you discovered what works best for you. It appears that Jess has somewhat modified the pure S&T swing into a powerful move that many can adopt on the follow thru.
The best thing for me to execute a decent drive is establish 3 things at address: tee height, ball placement in my stance, the stance itself. My most optimal position requires that I have a rotation-generated back swing and initiate the down swing with my core and move towards the target in order to make contact with the ball. Not crazy distance, but definitely easy distance!
So does stack and tilt have your tilt forward for irons and back for the driver? Weight forward for hitting down on the ball with shorter clubs and tilted back for hitting up with your driver? Its really two different set ups?
I started using ST method in last month of season much easier on my back I had surgery on L4 L5 5 years ago. I also hit my first 300 yard drive in 15 years and my last round birdied 4 out of my last 7 holes with a lip out or it would have been 5. Consider me a convert easier to repeat swing with less practice time which is also big for me cause I work 6 days a week I want to play on my day off
I would say 50/50 at setup 70-30 to the right early in backswing by about half way back (that's pressure in feet) without hips moving right Back to 50/50 at top then more left early downswing
Generally speaking yes....it wont be exactly the same but I dont think you need to FEEL anything different. If you were going to work off the ball more that would be with driver...less with irons.
When we tilt to the right, isnt our weight tend to be more on the right too? It's hard for me to move my weight forward when tilting. Without much tilting is good though. Any tips pls?
Interested in you teaching offering. What is needed to get instruction from you?? Are you able to get days from the ball from a video like you can with a Trakman?? Had 3 cervical neck fusions over the last 11 yrs and just got back to playing again. Having a hard time hitting my irons as I can hit "down" any longer. Rarely take a divot, but hitting the driver fairly good distance and super straight. Previously a + handicap golfer and played collegiate golf.... Let me know what your able to do with your instruction.

What is shown here is that there is a moment where weight is transferred onto the right foot. I have been trying to do a stack and tilt driver swing without ever transferring the weight like this, and I find that I am struggling to maintain my balance, and it feels awkward. Is it true that moving weight to the back foot momentarily is recommended?
I wish there was a Stack & Tilt Instructor here in Hawaii. As a Paramedic, this is the only golf swing that makes any sense from a body mechanics perspective. I’m trying to learn how to play golf, but there is no one here that teaches this method.
To some degree....same movements but varying degrees More on that here ruclips.net/video/TJtx-qVSgVU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/hbsHxC3bIw4/видео.html
In a Golf Magazine 3 part series of articles of a long time ago, they kind of said about the same thing but in a different way. But they called it more like getting into an athletic position. They showed where many tour players actually set up this way tilted back before the swing starts and they showed pictures of that. Most importantly they called the bad thing, "left side crunch". They pointed out that when the head is not back, everything "crunches up" on the left side thus robbing power. It is not cleared and crunches up against a steady head in the wrong position (forward). They actually used a body harness with sensors hooked up to a computer to capture the analysis they presented. I think 200 touring pros were analyzed against 400 amateur's on that thing. Then they made artist created drawings of the correct and incorrect positions.. I spent many hours replicating it, and it was all true. It really revived my sagging golf game. Frankly, I was doing everything wrong and I was a fairly accomplished player. It also helps you to hit the ball much straighter. They also stressed the "levelness" (turning level around one's spin only" as a key ingredient.
They should have just called this Tilt, nobody would argue with that and every good golfer tilts regardless of weight transfer. It's just easier for us non tour pros to make sure our hips and weight are correct with stack n tilt.
Hey Pete! Nope--same general ideas to varying degrees with irons More on that here ruclips.net/video/jrd5YwH9TR0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/q43rhyr6-vE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/scieZk2ZGo4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/pbyZpiTnNlY/видео.html
When I first saw stack and tilt I said “oh yeah, another wacky golf swing video”, but I am a complete convert. You will better shots more consistently than ever before.
Implementing stack and tilt into my swing has been the only thing that’s given me consistent contact. My body doesn’t move like it used to and getting my tempo, timing and weight shift consistently right has been frustrating. But keeping that weight planted on the lead foot has helped tremendously
Am I not understanding but Eric seems to be too far on his right at setup. I thought setup using stack and tilt should be more centered with more weight on the left side. Correct?
Thanks for the feedback....I believe they would suggest something like 60/40 Left or 55/45.....we weren't really focused on that aspect here. Thanks for watching!
I love the straight arms idea, but I would add that they should BE STRAIGHTENED by the proper physics of gravity and by a natural pendulum motion, and not by the arms clenching to straighten things out. The clenching will kill everything. Natural motion will allow not only for length and arc, but also for the arms/wrists/club all to turn over naturally.
I thought the tilt was during the take back. You tilt your front shoulder down towards the ball as you bring the club back so that your head is over the ball. That's the stack. If you don't tilt your torso down your head moves slightly behind the ball as you go back.
Yes Left shoulder down in backswing Right shoulder down in downswing Thats the "tilt" part the "stack" is keeping the sternum on top of center of pelvis in the backswing (that includes the extension and turn parts)
@@CogornoGolf Awesome. Thank you! Any tips or videos on how to initiate the down swing? I feel like that is where things go wrong (when they do) -- the initial movement and how to keep your balance and tilt as you get your body rotating back open.
Hey Mark! We might just be doing some videos with Tom next month :) But don't tell anyone that....supposed to be a surprise! The real Stack and Tilt guru is the founder himself Andy Plummer.
Stack n tilt doesn’t let you hit up with the driver that’s where the problem is. Sure lots of pros hit slightly down on it. But they want that to hit a fade , pretty hard to hit down and have a nice high long draw
Thanks for the feedback! Of course that's too broad of a statement. I have plenty of friends who teach/use stack and tilt (which is simply a 3d description of what goes on in a good swing) and hit up and far.
Stack and Tilt was one pattern O’Grady and MORAD taught for short irons only. Was never supposed to be used for long irons or driver. If you can make it work great, but Baddeley failed miserably at the US Open using it
I cannot explain it, but after 20 years of playing and lessons, I have a very negative reaction to stack and tilt. I have tried it several times, and I hate it.
The Pros shown do not swing at S&T, and even their swings could be classified into leading side/trailing side domination (rotate the left or right hip to activate the rotation of the club). I also hate the couch to spend lots of time to explain what is wrong and do just a few for the right. We just need to get right image not the wrong one. Based on the demonstration of Mike Bennett, his S&T is quite different than the video shows. His swing partly same as Rory (right side domination) but without a downward trailing arm extension. Maybe this is just for advocating a convenient way of golf swing for armature golfers. Please don't talk about Charlie Wi, his swing is 100% not the S&T!

@@CogornoGolf thanks Eric!! Will take a look. You are the best!!
:)
Nice vid...now if I can just emulate what your doing....I need a LOT of help...

Sounds like you found what works for you, Joe! Love it!
I love it! Gotta get the basics right!
Hi eric, are these swing methods same for when hitting irons? Other than the obvious ball placement for drivers being forward?
Hey Adi!
Yes

stack and tilt for the win
:)
So does stack and tilt have your tilt forward for irons and back for the driver? Weight forward for hitting down on the ball with shorter clubs and tilted back for hitting up with your driver? Its really two different set ups?
Hey Lincoln! I would check out Jess Frank, Tom Saguto and the other Stack and Tilt certified coaches channels so you can get more info on this!
I started using ST method in last month of season much easier on my back I had surgery on L4 L5 5 years ago. I also hit my first 300 yard drive in 15 years and my last round birdied 4 out of my last 7 holes with a lip out or it would have been 5. Consider me a convert easier to repeat swing with less practice time which is also big for me cause I work 6 days a week I want to play on my day off
Glad you found a good solution Frank!!
Thanks, on top of back swing, how much weight you had in your trail foot? Thanks again
I would say 50/50 at setup
70-30 to the right early in backswing by about half way back (that's pressure in feet) without hips moving right
Back to 50/50 at top
then more left early downswing
Does the same weight shift back and forth also applies to iron shots? Great insight, thanks
Hey! Nope. You tilt (side bend) to right....weight stays the same
Head back, shoulder under, arms extended. Got ya. 👍🏻
Yessir!
Hey Bryan!
We do all of our coaching online at www.cogornogolf.com
Give it a look and send us a message to service@cogornogolf.com if you have any questions!
I'm sure you will love it!
Is there a practice mar/net that you’d recommend for indoors?
Hey Johannes!
Unfortunately I cannot say any off the top of my mind I like the most. Hope you find some good ones!
Little pressure shift to trail foot very early

I wish there was a Stack & Tilt Instructor here in Hawaii. As a Paramedic, this is the only golf swing that makes any sense from a body mechanics perspective. I’m trying to learn how to play golf, but there is no one here that teaches this method.
Maybe find one you can work with online and send videos into!!
Is it safe to say this is for driver/fairway woods only? Separate swing for irons?
To some degree....same movements but varying degrees

Eric, I think it's time for a new mic. Love your videos keep up the great work!
Thanks Diego...sorry about the audio issues!
On address, what’s the weight distribution?
50/50 is a good place to start from my perspective
More forward with shorter clubs
Is this swing only for the Driver?
Hey Pete! Nope--same general ideas to varying degrees with irons

@@CogornoGolf Thanks Great Job
Rick shield has a video on driver that is very similar to this....
:) Thanks for watching!

@@CogornoGolf I'm getting into your stack and tilt methods. I've watched your videos for a couple years and enjoy your content.
When I first saw stack and tilt I said “oh yeah, another wacky golf swing video”, but I am a complete convert. You will better shots more consistently than ever before.
:) Appreciate you being here with us!
Doing this in my kitchen and feels kind of like a baseball swing
Parts of it!
What about this is stack and tilt?
this sport is so complicated that when I watch video like this one I start to think to give up golf
Lol i hear ya
Implementing stack and tilt into my swing has been the only thing that’s given me consistent contact. My body doesn’t move like it used to and getting my tempo, timing and weight shift consistently right has been frustrating. But keeping that weight planted on the lead foot has helped tremendously
Love it!
Well, at least we're not killing each other (yet) over different swing philosophies, so we've got that going for us, which is nice.
Agreed!
:)
Appreciate your feedback, Erich! Thank you for watching!
I thought the tilt was during the take back. You tilt your front shoulder down towards the ball as you bring the club back so that your head is over the ball. That's the stack. If you don't tilt your torso down your head moves slightly behind the ball as you go back.
Yes
Left shoulder down in backswing
Right shoulder down in downswing
Thats the "tilt" part
the "stack" is keeping the sternum on top of center of pelvis in the backswing (that includes the extension and turn parts)
@@CogornoGolf Awesome. Thank you! Any tips or videos on how to initiate the down swing? I feel like that is where things go wrong (when they do) -- the initial movement and how to keep your balance and tilt as you get your body rotating back open.
Yes

Absolutely!
Eric, interview Tom Saguto- the REAL Stack and Tilt guru. Interesting fun guy.
Hey Mark!
We might just be doing some videos with Tom next month :) But don't tell anyone that....supposed to be a surprise!
The real Stack and Tilt guru is the founder himself Andy Plummer.
Sorry; can't deal with Saguto's silliness. Truly irritating.
Thats OK....all the best!
I thought this was sliding? I do this and have been trying to stop?

How is this different than a conventional swing? I don't see any "stack" move, just the "tilt".
Agreed Wayne....stack and tilt and conventional swing are very similar :) Which is part of the whole point----good catch!
Okay, but I have never seen a golfer swing the club the wrong way demonstrated here.
I sure have :)
I understand why the golf teachers exaggerate which is confusing and would be better if yo7followed up with the real swing..
Thanks for the feedback!
