Love this video. It totally vindicated something I had forgotten and just reestablished two weeks ago. It’s had a monumental change to my iron shots. Hitting GIR again 🙏🏼. Thanks Pete 👍🏼
I am an absolute beginner and honestly no one ever explained the wrist hinge to me - I couldn’t figure out how to keep my left arm straight when swinging…this has been a massive help!
Yeah, it's like they can be technically correct but deliver information in a way that doesn't translate to real life golf. This clip makes it easy: preserve that 'Y' shape and you'll avoid lots of common backswing issues. One easy to remember tip!
Just moved back to the states after time in France. Didn’t have clubs while there and these videos are great for simple situational swing thoughts to take away variables over the ball and give you confidence 👍🏼 definitely has helped as I’m getting back out there
My best swing tip ever is to pull your trail side scapula towards your spine for your backswing; and then pull your lead scapula back towards your spine for your downswing. That’s it that’s the golf swing. Cheers.😊🥂👍
@@LionfromtheLakeLionfromtheLake the scapular are the end connection to both your shoulder arms and hand. It is the bony parts in the upper part of your body lovingly known as your angel wings. Each side of your scapula as it move inward, away, and inward again towards and away from your spine allows your shoulders arms and hands and to make a complete clockwise or counterclockwise circular move . In addition to this both your hands and wrist can independently turn clockwise or counter clockwise as both sides of scapula are simultaneously doing the opposite of the other side moving inward or away from your spine This makes the scapular the primary mover of the golf club. Try this experience: As you are swinging your club back to your right side you should feel your right side scapular pulling about two inches towards your spine and the weight of your club head should automatically rotate your hands and wrist halfway clockwise to the finish of your backswing. Your hips will turn accordingly as long as you remain in your golf posture. To initiate your backswing all yo have to do is to consciously initiate the left side of your scapula to pull 2 inches towards the center of your spine. As this one action on your part will creat enough centrifugal and centripetal force to catapult your club head through your ball and bring your body around to your lead left side slinging your club over your left shoulder. Hope I made myself clear. If you are a new golfer you will need to learn all the basic setting up to your ball in order to make your scapular effectively work for you Cheers. Remember about two inch with the right side scapula followed by 2 inches with the lead side scapula is all it takes to make a great golf swing. It will become so subtle you will hardly know you’re doing it. So do not force anything in your golf swing; just do it and let your body take over your swing. Cheers
Hi Pete, do you know any tips for not chunking takeaway? With my putting or my irons, head of my club is always brushing so much a ground, almost everytime stuck in there too and that totally disconcert my swing.. it happens because probably my first move in my swing is, that my arms go little bit down.. do you have any tips?
May want to check to see if your shoulder tilt is too flat. The first move should be your lead shoulder going under your chin with your hands raising not lowering.
After years of ups and downs in getting down to 5 hcp realised everyone lower than me at my club learnt as weak kids, unfortunately most golfers learn as strong men! they start the swing with their arms focussing on hitting at the ball out of aggression or anxiety, then atempt some sort of turn You have to feel the arms/butt of club move last as your right side spirals up and then move left away from arms as left side spirals up you have to move away from the club both ways, but have the confidence the club will catch up at impact! Easy to say hard to do But Nobody ever practices Golf related coordination skills to give them confidence to achieve this Every Good Golfer that Ever Lived can Bounce a Ball on a Wedge! it took me 6 weeks!
Thanks for sharing. I was following this on the course for driver and irons. For driver, do you suggest to keep the ball just off-of center or towards the left heel? For irons, I am hitting like punch shots. It doesn't go up. Is this due to ball position?
I mean not to poop on your parade but it really isnt. It was for you. At this moment. Down the line it might be something else. Golf swing has many components and people have different bodies and different habits. There is no universal one thing that fixes everybody's swing.
@@outlander234can't see he mentioned it fixes everyone's swing but taking the club back on plane and staying connected with arms in front of your chest certainly helps.
Thanks Pete. Enjoy watching all your videos no doubt. You’re a good man to have as a friend cause you crack me up laughing all the time. Your mental game is exactly like mine. Keep it up. Come to Pinehurst area look me up. Neal
Hi Pete. On your swing quest channel. Could you make a video on how to get the hands higher on backswing. I struggle with a shallow back swing. This hasn’t been an issue, but I hit one shank and my heads gone since. I’m now hitting more and more shanks and it’s breaking me. I know I’m in to out, could you please help. I’m sure I’m not alone in this. Thanks Congrats on your win, gutted with the last hole. Keep up the great content
I saw Lee Trevino give the best swing tip ever years ago, when after a round a TV interviewer spoke to him about his round and then said, Lee could you give a tip to all the amateur golfers watching right now? Lee gave the tip, which I don't even remember, but as he turned to walk away he looked back over his shoulder and with the famous Trevino smile said "Oh and it doesn't hurt to hit two or three hundred balls at the range everyday either".
When did you go away from the JumboMax grips? Curious as to why. I am considering larger grips and was just hoping for pros/cons after you used them for a while.
This best be good I was just on the way out to practice another swing tip lol 😂 all these swing tips Other one from some Southern hem dude saying low hands and training drill obstacle in the way so you got up go under low . I knew it was keep low from sweet previous strikes of the ball . It’s not really talked about that swing top that much Great video Pete it’s actually another piece of the puzzle 🧩 and them hands were low on the correct side of that line . Both videos complemented each other . Will bring this to my practice all good nice one 😊
Great tip, don't think you can go wrong with this, the tempo he had in doing the drill was syrupy smooth. On a different tangent, does any one else think his left hand grip is quite strong, he has, I think a body release, rather than a handsy flippy release. Maybe I need to try this? Hmmm.
Yeah, either play with ball position so it’s more off your front foot and or set up as if the ball was on the ground a few inches before the ball on the tee. Really helped me to stop topping and thinning the ball with my driver.
If you were to swing normally with the intention of letting go of the club so that it would fly as far as possible then at what point in your follow through would you let go of the club and in what direction would it travel? I'll subscribe if you answer 🤣
Please people subscribe to Pete’s channel it’s free and if I could have a swing I would love just one round with that mans swing just to see what it does. Love ya work big fella.
Your tips are great; but the golf swing begins and ends with the simultaneous counter movement of both sides of your scapula. Just look at the back of any great golfer. Correct? Cheers 😊🥂👍
The best swing tip I ever got was to hit an imaginary ball with the center of my golf shaft behind me. Holy grail of golf. Most people looking for swing tips are swinging the golf club in the wrong direction. They are trying to swing the club down the line instead of swinging the golf club at the ball. Think of a baseball swing... where do you apply your power?

hey pete , it looks like your lead arm or left arm elbow is pointed down your target line . is this done on purpose ?
Funny because I had a lesson today in fact and he taught me the exact same thing as your saying Pete top work
Also something to notice is when you're in that hallway back position the leading edge of the club will basically be parallel to your spine angle.
