    I’ve been having mine 3 weeks now. I put a Sonic Cake Volume/Wah pedal in front of the POD and it works great on both features. I also added a Boss FS-7 foot switch to turn distortion on/off and delays on/off. Those features are fixed in the global settings. I’m going to throw an extra drive before the POD and another Reverb and the end of the POD. I have a Helix Floor so I’m just having fun with this. The sounds though are very impressive.

    I just got mine and I am really liking how good it sounds. Perfect for easy home recording. I hope they will release an online editor and perhaps IR loading but the sounds I am getting from it are already pretty cool. Regarding the durability, I think it should last long if not taken on the road. I don't think it would survive a lot of stomping on it.

    Awesome video Leo! thanks for all the great information! I find it a complete miss that they didn't include midi support... being such a small pedal, and having all those possibilities and not being able to use them "dinamically" completely limits the full potential of the pedal (in my opinion)

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much!!!
      Yes, MIDI would have been very useful!
      Let's hope that it will be added via USB in future firmware upgrade.

    Once again the cons like lack of IR support, no FX loop and difficulty to integrate into a pedal board (and plastic construction).....not really cons when you consider the target audience! You need to stop looking at it from your own, experienced user/pro perspective. It is a plug and play instant gratification solution. As such it is a perfect fit for beginners OR pros looking for a simple, practice, almost pocket, device for backstage, hotel rooms or bed rooms.
    At home I almost exclusively play through Yamaha THR - the limited choices of amps, effects, no IRs etc are liberating! I plug in and within seconds I have a great sound, and when I have only 30 minutes to practise I don't want to spend hours tweaking the tone. The POD Express serves in a way a similar purpose and helps you to avoid "options paralysis" phenomenon. This "options paralysis" is a problem for beginners and many pros alike

    • @rethinktone
      @rethinktone 5 месяцев назад +1

      Leo makes it abundantly clear when he gives his "2 cents." I don't want him to stop giving his opinion because he has very well thought out takes and wants to protect the consumer. Your opinion that build quality doesn't matter because the target audience is beginners is silly. In fact I'd argue beginners should have better build quality so they have gear that will last forever.

    • @marekgitarzysta5193
      @marekgitarzysta5193 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@rethinktone Where did I say "that build quality doesn't matter because the target audience is beginners"? Maybe I was not clear - being all plastic suggests "do not put me on your board" - it is not the same as "build quality doesn't matter because the target audience is beginners"

    • @rethinktone
      @rethinktone 5 месяцев назад

      @@marekgitarzysta5193 then you weren't clear with your nuance at all. Being made out of cheap plastic is definitely a con no matter how you slice it. Regardless of whether it's on a board or on a desk. The issue with no fx loop is that a beginner cannot expand it and add to their knowledge as they grow their collection. The ampero mini is made out of aluminum and it is a very comparable price with so many more features. This design is better for beginners for sure, but they could have made it slightly more expensive for something durable.

    • @artysanmobile
      @artysanmobile 5 месяцев назад

      “Option paralysis” has birthed an entire genre of music which I demeaningly call ‘producer music’. It is ironic that endless choice often guides people directly to the very worst choices, musically speaking. Pro Tools mastery has misled more than a few into ruining the bare naked roots of a meaningful song.

    Thanks, Leo. For my use case I couldn't bond with the overdrives (my main interest) in the Pod Express, even after tweaking extensively - I had to return it. Maybe I was doing something wrong (an editor would certainly help); I was very much surprised since I am a big Line 6 fan. Interestingly, the new Zoom MS200+ sounds great - I have been underwhelmed in the past by Zoom, but they really seem to have upped their quality with this unit Many choices, and of course a lot of overlap, but I found a great sound out of the box with no tweaking; it seems comparable to my OD-200 and Line 6 HX One..... YMMV, IMO, etc.

    Hi Leo. Very interesting. I think for me at least there are too many negatives. No effects loop, no IRs, plastic, etc. The Boss IR2 is about the same price or just a few bucks more, but is metal and offers all of the features lacking in this device, so I would pass and go the Boss route, plus, I think Boss technology is better sounding and feeling personally.

    Thank you very much for this video, Leo! You are such a great guitar player and musician, therefore your opinion is always of special importance to me. I actually quite like the Pod Express, as it is very light and good for travelling. My favourite amp from the hHx stomp, the Friedman, is included. The Princeton is also very good imho. The Matchless can maybe considered as an amp in the style of the Vox, while the Friedman maybe covers somehow the Plexi/Jcm800 flavour. For people who like metal, there is the 5150. So hopefully everybody is happy. Thanks again for your great work!! Btw the demo song is fantastic!!

    I’ve just purchased one. Enjoying it so far for its simplicity and range of tones. I am hoping for an app though to allow some tweaks. I like the addition of the looper but it appears to sit infront of the reverb, and i can’t find a way to adjust the loop volume. Maybe an app would allow this to be modified.

      The looper is just another kind of delay. Thats why you cant use another delay while using the looper. And thats why it sits in front of the reverb.
