How great to see a manu building a pedal with a processor featuring dedicated DSP so soon after all our discussions. It’s only the beginning. The ARM processor line is designed with just this sort of application in mind. Others will need to get with it!
Last but by no means least - WOW to your musical intro in this video. You are doing really special things with your channel and I am enjoying it very much, Leo.

Congratulations on the video! The NAMplayer is amazing, I love mine. I will soon create a second follow-up "re-review" of mine, sharing some presets and some tweaks, since there were also some firmware updates. The updates especially show the commitment of the people at DIMEHEAD to deliver on this product, and there seems way more underway for this thing to rock our world.

hey mate can you tell me if it's gapless switching between presets please?

    • @PippPriss
      @PippPriss 8 месяцев назад +1

@@EngiNeer-ec8nkHard to measure for me. I don't think it's capless, if you have different NAM models.loaded, so from clean to distorted or so, there seems a bit of a gap. However, a good chunk smaller than the gap on ToneX.
But what I found was that when using the same NAM profile, but with different EQ settings, Delay etc. so for a solo boost for example, the switch was pretty much gapless.
I think a new video on this subject is overdue where I compare the ToneX vs. NAM and showcase a few things.

IMO, even if it lost in the null test, it would be a fantastic thing just for being a NAM player. The huge advantage of NAM is that you're not tied to a product, a brand, a proprietary technology, your tones will be free, just like with IRs.

      > I animate it locally on my PC with CogVideoX 5B (or I use runway)
      > Then I import it in iClone, where I animate the singer with the background
      > then I record myself with a green screen and I merge the previous step with my self (this is tricky as I loose the parallax fx...if I want it, I have to import myself in iClone...which is too time expensive)
      > in Final Cut I add the shadow....there is an effect in Final Cut that does....I can't remember the name....

I have been meaning to ask you this for a while - Say, you have 4 products.
    1 - A 50w tube amp head with 2 channels - Hughes and Kettner Statesman EL34
    2 - A NAM Player - 0.5 ms - 0.8 ms latency
    3 - A modeller with 1.5 ms latency.
    4 - A modeller with 2-2.5 ms latency
If you were to compare the above 4 products on the basis of latency -
    1) Is there a noticeable difference in the way the latency feels amongst the 4 products? If so, then how?
    2) Does latency affect the way you play? If so, then how would it affect if you played the aforementioned 4 products?

Here are my thoughts on this unit. I think it does offer some very good features. Ie: the processing power, the high end converters and DSP that's adds up to low latency, the ability to run convolution reverbs and high quality IR's. All add up to giving a very real amp feel I would hope.
What I think are the short comings of the unit are simple. The hard to see and read screen. Many of us will be the same even with glasses have trouble seeing the screen, so not having a computer editor is a major issue. We should be able to do everything on the computer and transfer via USB to make it easier to see and set up, so it's ready for live use. Furthermore they made some odd choices with effects. Regardless of what some people will say. The delay was un-necessary and really just doesn't make sense. The reverbs due as you can emulate the real amps real spring reverbs through convolution reverbs, and reverb is very common on real tube amplifiers, where as delay is not.
What would have been more useful is a noise-gate, compressor, and clean boost.
The other possible option would an overdrive, but to many people want something different, and you can always include an overdrive in your profile with your amp when you Al make it. Otherwise it would be cool to be able to run a NAM overdrive profile in front of the amp profile. This would be more useful than the dealt. Most people will use pedals for their other effects anyway.
The other thing that all profilers need NAM, Tonex, ML, Amperium. All of them are modeled tone stacks like Kemper is doing with liquid profiles. This to me is incredible useful, creative where you use a different tone stack than the amp, but allows you to control the amp like the real thing and need way less profiles. The generic tone stack like they currently use is useful too, but the real tons stack and gain structure of each amo
Ales it more like using the real amp without having 50 profiles to do so.
This is the main reason I still don't use profiling or capturing really and still
    Prefer traditional component models.

The price isn't a problem at all. 99% of us are home musicians who are happy with the plugin. We might take a cheap multieffects to an open mic and that's about it. But if one of us makes it big and can go touring as a professional musician, we'd have the same amp models as on our home workstations on the go.

Pretty cool product. I do wonder how it can compete with $180 Tonex one. The long IRs for reverb is very cool. I wish it had optical out for connecting to audio interface without additional D/A A/D conversion. The screen looks quite dated, I hope that doesn't hurt the sales of this product. Might have been better to have no screen at all and make it cheaper.

Great review Leo!! It’s truly amazing!! But I think this unit it’s a rip off, the amperium live came a lot earlier, same format, same processing power and a real fx chain with everything, can load NNM profiles and have a pc an Bluetooth app, so if you ask me I’ll go with that for the same price

Well, 30 ms is really toooooo much. For me latency is an important aspect, and impact how a unit "feel" under your finger. Furthermore latency sum up, therefore if you have a wireless system latency sum up, if you use other digital pedal, latency sum up etc...and the playing could become really uncomfortable.
