I bought it a month ago and I think it is one of the best purchases I made in my life. It could cost more and it would be just as good. Very easy to use and incredible sound, for use in stereo. It just needs to have had a compressor.
What looks a cheap plasticky gimmick pedal could actually be the start of the future evolution of modellers… no more complex menus and endless tweaks. Pete has just gone through a huge repertoire of songs and sounds from this tiny box…. I laughed out loud when he did the start to purple rain, it sounds great especially as this is direct. No wonder Line 6 isn’t rushing out Helix 2 this could be the new direction.??? One camp are pedals, one camp are modellers - here we have The pedal-modeller😅
why does 20+ year old line 6 products have a LCD screen and and easier to use and more amps and effects and this new shit has less amps and effects no screen and is complicated to use?
I think during the demo it went up massively in Lee’s estimations.. He started the clip with “its actually better than I thought” 30mins of listening Pete demo it he ends with “it sounds fantastic, it’s amazing” 😂. Also, just watched the clip on east coast guitars Lee did and improving starter guitars. A new starter could have an east coast guitar and pod express and they’re off to a flyer…
Not really- you're forgetting an item that costs around 400 bucks or so- a powered cab so you can hear yourself without using headphones. Headphones are great- until you want to play with others or just want other ppl to be able to hear your playing. I was shocked when I bought a modeler and then realized- that's only half the cost- a powered cab costs as much or more than the modeler.
@stoneysdead689 the new starter could start initially with just headphones at home and this pedal giving lots of tonal options (probably better if they do😅) but naturally as they progress and want to start playing with others they would need better gear. Modeller amps like the katana are another option but significantly more expensive than this pedal. Many give up early do not spending too much early on is wise
@stoneysdead689 yes this was probably aimed at the new starter now. Like you I bought my first modeller only 3 years ago. I started the old fashioned way with amps and terrible cheap copy guitars back in the early 80s

@@Roger-il8iw the cheapest HD500x I can find right now on Reverb would cost $230 after shipping (there is a local pickup one for $180, but it's nowhere near me). I just picked up one of these for $152 (plus tax). Still not a bad idea looking for a used HD500x, but it still will probably cost more than this, especially when used ones start showing up (bet you can eventually grab a used one of these for around $100 in a year or so).
Eeeeh multi effects move fast and this feels a full generation behind at £200 tbh. I get line 6 want to protect the pod go and stomp, etc, but yeah competition’s too fierce.
I think you need to redo the amp model demo section, because I think you had accidentally left on the boost (klon) throughout all the amp models - Pete even says around 14 minutes that they all have this underlying sound that’s the same…which means Pete’s ears and brain are incredible! but yeah, the underlying tone he’s hearing is the sound of the boost pedal across all amps. Afterwards, you can see the boost level rolling off when you start the pedals section of the video ❤✌️

If you've already got a modeler or something comparable, there's nothing to get excited about here really. If you don't- then this could definitely be an affordable way to check it out. That said- the NUX stuff is just as good, and just as affordable- imo.
You know, the one thing nobody really demonstrates with this thing is that it will respond to your guitar volume. It will clean up when you back off your volume knob surprisingly well. I haven't seen anybody demo how it sounds in a daw if you connect the usb directly to your computer either. I haven't tried that so I can't say how well it works. Thanks for the video! I don't think anybody has done a demo of how it sounds through a PA with drums and bass either.
Not only for practice, but you can figure out what modulations you like without spending 600 + dollars to only find out you like one of them. Then you know what like you can spend the money you saved buying something like this.

i would have liked to see a marshall SV20H and a friedman be100 and get rid of the oblivion ,the friedman is a modded marshall but to get a early plexi you would have to turn all the friedman mods off where the friedman could do the higher gain amp, i always like to start clean plexi and delay for recording ,ive never seen a modeler without a plexi.

It feels line a "typical" Line 6 offering. Its kind of ok, its a little bit cheap looking but has a price that just pushes it out of "pocket money" purchase.
I would love to see a comparison between this and the M-VAVE Tank-G, the battle of affordable modelers. Anyway, I haven’t really found a modeler/profiler that would replace my tube amps. Thanks for your hard work guys/gals, keep on rockin’! 🎩🤘

13:53 They all have a similar vibe because the effects have hardly changes between amp models. Get rid of everything but the amps and then the difference will be more obvious. If you have the same reverb pedal and same gain pedal plugged into different amps, they will have a “similar vibe” to them because you are coloring everything similarly with effects. No reverb, no dirt, no modulation, no delay. If they still sound alike then the amp sims aren’t that great.
My very first multi-effects pedal was a line 6 floor pod. It was horrible through my amp. But it was awesome through the PA system. So I'm excited to get one of these now

Great product. I picked up the bass version for my GF and she loves it. Shocking how much more it costs in the UK, it’s almost $70 cheaper here in the US, more than 30% less.
That might explain why its so expensive, given the competition in this space. At £70 - £120, it'd make sense but tough to see the attraction at this price over something from Mooer or Joyo or similar.

I thought the same, but the color coding makes it super easy to remember. Once you get all your presets saved, you only make very minor button tweaks. If I can do it, you can ;)

It absolutely does NOT sound like an AC 30! It does sound really good, though! Especially for like $180!
This stuff all seems to be aiming towards what I think I might want in the future, which is an amp sim with an onboard effects loop, xlr out, and like 3 or 4 easily switchable patches. So basically this, but get rid of the effects, put XLR out on it, and give me an effects loop.
TC Electronic Combo Deluxe vs. Line 6 Pod Express? I’ve been thinking of getting the Combo Deluxe for a basic Fender amp sim pedal with Reverb, but if the Pod Express can do that and more it might make more sense.
$349 Australian. That's not cheap or affordable for what it is. I just purchased a Sonicake matribox for $111aud. $349 in Australia will get you really good amp modelling/multi effects pedal by NUX or Hotone or similar.
What would be really nice as a "premium" option, would be a nice robust metal enclosure that would survive gigging. I think most people would pay an extra $50-100 for that option. Keep the plastic box base model as an "economy" version for home use cases and the budget conscious.
Designers of digital units can easily sway us and increase their margins by just layering on more and more and more and more features. I do not want that at all. Keeps me from actually playing. I want this Line6 box's number of features MAXIMUM, in the most convenient and affordable package possible, no menu diving whatsoever, everything visible and tweakable instantaneously. This thing is top of my wish list.
I am surely in the minority... but I have just never liked the Line 6 sound. I owned a POD ii back in the day and tried for ages to convince myself it sounded great... It didn't, particularly with the edge of breakup and crunchy tones. And I hated the reverb. When the Helix came out I figured it would be miles ahead of the old POD stuff. Functionally, of course, it was. But it still had that Line 6 sound. And so has every device since. Not a fan. I remain hopeful that they will release something I like the sound of eventually. But it isn't this.
So spoiled for choice these days ... Can't help but feel 199 is too much. 150? Instabuy. 199? No, I'll wait for the V2 and hope for a lower price. Sounded good though, didn't have that horrible L6 filtered sound.
Sound very very good, but they diliberately make it look cheap and limited to not take away from their big products, sad. If they copied the design of the old Zoom G1X or Pod Go it would rock.
Did several blind tests between the and the pod hd500x (the helix predecessor) everyone prefers hd500x. The 500x is under $200 on reverb and does way more than this. People always want the latest thing, but don’t be fooled, it’s not worth it for a piece of plastic!
Controls seem needlessly confusing with arrows pointing to things that aren’t true! Additional buttons for gain/bass/mid/treble that you hold whilst adjusting using the middle knob (where the actual setting is shown) would be way more intuitive.
If your using Windows 11 & Line6: Check first that they've actually have made (ASIO) drivers for your device, that has support for Core Isolation Memory Integrity. Still waiting one for my old Toneport UX2... ...and waiting... ...and waiting... ...and waiting. (And yes, you can turn it off, but getting it back on can be kinda tricky.)
I send mine back today. There is no possibility to change time on Delay. So no Slapback Echo possible. What a bad mistake. Could have been the perfect one for all pedal.
you tap tempo it, or you talking about the amount of repeats? you turn the dial to light up more leds for more repeats, I think you sent it back before learning it

This product is absolutely brilliant. If I didn't already have an HX Stomp and Mustang Micro, I would be all over this!
I've got an LT and a PodGO, and I still might have to grab one (of each) of these eventually. lol
It is nice to have the small package. But you can still get an hd500x which is almost a helix and processes vocals for cheaper on reverb.

I just got mine and I really like how good it sounds. Perfect for those of us who do not need a lot of presets and want to record something at home.
If you get this get the Boss IR2 to go with it!! If you think the tones on either are good wait until you merry them together!!

Why do they compromise with the looper/delay thing. Whole idea of looping is to add a different flavour, any layer can't have a delay effect. Stupid.

TC Electronic Combo Deluxe vs. Line 6 Pod Express? I’ve been thinking of getting the Combo Deluxe for a basic Fender amp sim pedal with Reverb, but if the Pod Express can do that and more it might make more sense.
$349 Australian. That's not cheap or affordable for what it is. I just purchased a Sonicake matribox for $111aud. $349 in Australia will get you really good amp modelling/multi effects pedal by NUX or Hotone or similar.
What would be really nice as a "premium" option, would be a nice robust metal enclosure that would survive gigging. I think most people would pay an extra $50-100 for that option. Keep the plastic box base model as an "economy" version for home use cases and the budget conscious.
Wait are we SURE you can’t loop anything with delay???! That seems so stupid for an otherwise amazing piece of gear. Almost deal breaker potential
Designers of digital units can easily sway us and increase their margins by just layering on more and more and more and more features. I do not want that at all. Keeps me from actually playing. I want this Line6 box's number of features MAXIMUM, in the most convenient and affordable package possible, no menu diving whatsoever, everything visible and tweakable instantaneously. This thing is top of my wish list.
I am surely in the minority... but I have just never liked the Line 6 sound. I owned a POD ii back in the day and tried for ages to convince myself it sounded great... It didn't, particularly with the edge of breakup and crunchy tones. And I hated the reverb. When the Helix came out I figured it would be miles ahead of the old POD stuff. Functionally, of course, it was. But it still had that Line 6 sound. And so has every device since. Not a fan. I remain hopeful that they will release something I like the sound of eventually. But it isn't this.
So spoiled for choice these days ... Can't help but feel 199 is too much. 150? Instabuy. 199? No, I'll wait for the V2 and hope for a lower price. Sounded good though, didn't have that horrible L6 filtered sound.
Sound very very good, but they diliberately make it look cheap and limited to not take away from their big products, sad.
If they copied the design of the old Zoom G1X or Pod Go it would rock.
Did several blind tests between the and the pod hd500x (the helix predecessor) everyone prefers hd500x. The 500x is under $200 on reverb and does way more than this. People always want the latest thing, but don’t be fooled, it’s not worth it for a piece of plastic!
Controls seem needlessly confusing with arrows pointing to things that aren’t true! Additional buttons for gain/bass/mid/treble that you hold whilst adjusting using the middle knob (where the actual setting is shown) would be way more intuitive.
If your using Windows 11 & Line6: Check first that they've actually have made (ASIO) drivers for your device, that has support for Core Isolation Memory Integrity. Still waiting one for my old Toneport UX2... ...and waiting... ...and waiting... ...and waiting. (And yes, you can turn it off, but getting it back on can be kinda tricky.)

There is no possibility to change time on Delay.
So no Slapback Echo possible. What a bad mistake. Could have been the perfect one for all pedal.

you tap tempo it, or you talking about the amount of repeats? you turn the dial to light up more leds for more repeats, I think you sent it back before learning it

But i know lots of users who struggle with this problem.
I tried for hours but the LED dial only changed the volume of the delay mixed to the signal.

Can I use my mxr carboncopy delay,corona chorus and RV5 with this pod express?if yes..my question is can I get stereo effects?
