If my comments section is anything to go by, people are very excited for the CFMoto 450MT adventure bike that has just been uncovered at EICMA 2023. There is a lot to like about the little off road motorcycle. Lets dive in.
Thanks for watching,

This is what the nx500 should have been.
Hard agree
Yeah Honda really missed the boat on that one, unless they release a rally edition
Yes!!! Yessss!! Right !!
yes!
just wanted to say the exact same thing.
disappointed in Honda tbh
My thoughts exactly.
Finally!! I'll take it! And the choice of between high and low fender! Quality should not be an issue as this engine/trans combo is a few years old now in the 450 SR and SRS! My question is why does it take a Chinese manufacturer to stop and listen to the market rather than trying to dictate the market like the Japanese companies! Comes with crash bars, sump guard, auxillary lighting, pannier racks, TFT, switchable ABS, switchable TC, adjustable screen and GPS/Phone mount......all standard! what is not to like!!
And.....the low seat height.....
+ the NK on the same platform of the SR\SS
🇨🇳 💸
A lot of people don’t like to admit this but the Chinese are ambitious businessmen and this is just one example.
@@generaldistrust yeah, forgot about the naked
A 450cc 270-deg crank parallel twin in a lightweight ADV is a revelation in itself and a key differentiator in what will be a heavily contested segment in the future. Very well specced to boot too. Smart move, CFmoto! My wife has been riding her 700 CL-X to work since we bought it almost 2 years ago without issues and we have no doubt this new 450MT will be just as well built.
kove makes a 500 but old firing order. 500x
Promo images suggest tubeless tyres as well on the spoked rims. That's quite a significant plus.
The king is dead! (new Hima 450)
Long life to the king! (CFmoto 450 MT)
KLE 500 🙂, CF MOTO quads are among the most reliable, and the MT 800 has proven itself to be good and reliable in this short period. I think this could be a very good solution. It has the same dimensions as the old KLE 500. I'm looking forward to it.
The KLE 500, like many of the old 90s trailies (as they call them in the UK) was a bit before it's time. I had the GPZ500S and that was a great fun bike. If Kawasaki didn't restrict the KLE engine so much and use the heaviest materials they could find for the exhaust, handle bars etc.. It might have been better received. As it was, it was down on power by around 20% at the crank.
Looks like a baby T7. A lot of competition in the 400/450 segment. Nice
What is the competitor of this? Twin. Spokes, big wheels, under 190kg?
Thank you Solid for your going over this one. Looking forward to seeing more about this one in the future and also the MTX.
I had a 650 MT as my 1st bike when they came out in 2017. I had it for 2 years and put 22000 kilometres on it before I got a Yamaha FJR1300. I did have a few small issues which were fixed under warranty. I'm looking forward to test riding one of these as I look for a smaller adventure bike to put along side my FJR.
Quality is no question mark with CFmoto, i own a SR450 with the same engine....have done numerous track days thrashing the crap out of it & it's never missed a beat. build quality is the best in it's class for under $12k aud....also this is 100% the engine KTM co-developed with CFmoto, i own a KTM Duke 890R and the engine has a lot of familiar features to it.
This looks like a great bike , will definitely be checking out this one 👍
Definitely worth a curious look.
Love it! I own a CL-X 700 and I think the build quality is quite good! I had a warranty issue with the rear brake and it was handled very professionally and in good time. I must say that I would certainly buy this 450!
Definitely on the top of my list right now, was hoping it would come in just under 400 lbs. wet, but it's not too far off. Maybe Aprilia can do something special with their 457 parallel twin in a light weight Taureg or revive the Pegaso name.
I had a 420 cb500x and you definitely feel it offroad.
Adjustable tool less wind screen and tubeless tires also. As far as “Chinese reliability” they have been manufacturing at scale for decades now. All industrial country’s start off making cheap junk then eventually figure out quality control. China is no different. I haven’t heard or read anything bad about CFMoto so far, so we could be looking at a serous competitor to the big 4 in Japan and I’m all for it!
There's a huge variance in quality when it comes to Chinese bikes. Lifan or CFmoto are actual brands like Honda or Kawasaki. They put out replacements parts and have a warranty. Then there's brands like Kymco that formerly cobbled together a frame and engine out of parts made by many manufacturers. These bikes were a lot poorer quality because they weren't always made completely in house.
@@domenik8339 I agree. Chinese automotive is still finding its way, much like the U.S did back in the 50’s through the early 80’s. It’ll take time but it’s starting to look like CFMoto is a winner.
good coverage, thanks
Pricing for the CFMoto 450MT now officially released. AUD$8,990 introductory price. On the website now and it's now included in their line-up. Get 'em while they last!
I just put a Perelli scorpion tire on my salvaged Z 400 and called it good. Not so many obstacles to go over, but plenty of potholes to steer around. The little 17 inch tire upfront helps with that. Plus, it’s still a lightweight bike and sips gas. Sometimes, it’s not what you ride, but where you ride😊. I can’t believe everybody’s complaining about the weight, yet this motorcycle shown has all the bells and whistles attached already.
Definitely on the want list along with the Reaju Adventura. Yep, a little lighter would be nice but the wind protection is also nice. I'm in!!👍😎
This could be the successor for my CRF300 Rally
I love that CFMOTO did what the big four won't do, listen to the people and hear what they want,
I'm excited about Ducati's new single cylinder. It packs a punch, but seems to be only available in a motard version for now. Imagine a adv version with the same motor 🏁
The ducati mono will be very expensive. €15k in Netherlands. Probably twice as expensive as this will be.
The Ducati single will definitely be in an offroad bike, similar to how KTM did with the 690 platform, however it will be a year or two 'till they will release that offroad version. Personally I think they will release it next year at EICMA.
We already have it, 690 and 701. It will be pretty similar motor wise.
I shouldn't complain so much about the price given that the chasing of low cost bikes has brought us to an approaching Chinese monopoly, so I'll instead complain that I heard the new Ducati engine has Desmo valves and I don't need that complexity in my life.
@@UltralightMotorcycleCamping It has a 30.000 km Desmo valve check interval. I think thats quite manageable. Most people need over 5 years to ride that distance hahaha.
You hit the nail on the head with the last two video! This segment is getting interesting and we can all hope that the industry itself will go on a diet in few years and bring up something similar to DR650 in terms of weight and capable of covering road miles like the CB500X. Yep, I know that I am dreaming too much 😁
Super stoked for this bike!
i bought a 2020 cfmoto nk300 to get back into riding and its been flawless the whole time so im not worried about reliability issues and i can get oil filters and stuff from the city dealer so servicing and parts isnt a problem. im keen as for one of these.
I'm slightly disappointed with the weight, but super excited that the first wave of mid capacity twin ADV bikes has arrived. Hopefully they release a more dirt friendly cut back version that weighs less, but that might be a DIY project...
Hi Solid, I emailed CFMOTO Australia only yesterday about this bike and below was there reply ( normal corporate stuff, but at least I got a reply )
Good afternoon Alan,
Thanks for your interest and enquiry into the CFMOTO 450MT.
This exciting new unit is causing quite a stir!!
At this time, delivery times, final specs and pricing have not yet been released.
Please continue to monitor our social media and web pages to stay up to date on all things 450MT related!
Thanks for the info! I’ll have get a test ride 👍
Inseam challenged here so this is right up my alley. So are the 800 MTs too. I love that this bike has a tall front tire and a smaller back one. Can't wait to see. You are right about the big question mark in the quality of build and durability and getting parts.
I like it , something to consider when ot comes out .
And MTX!! WOOOW!! What a bike!! 😊😊😊 900 mtx and 1200 mtx!!
It's on my list for sure! Many CFMoto dealers here on the East Coast of USA, so dealer support is good here. Should come in under $8K which is a bargin for this price.
If the fired hand held torch option is available with this bike, then definitely count me in!
The grey color looks insanely good.
For an everyday commuter, weekend adv bike and the twice yearly multi day trip this is what l have been waiting for.
Currently saving for the Aprilia bit now l can have 2 bikes.
There are some very sandy track between Perth and Melbourne and that's why l want a small, luggage capable bike.
I'm excited.
And they delivered, and it looks good, let's hope that they can keep up with the demand besides this bike I was kind of looking at the kove but there hasn't been a whole lot of distributors, not like CF Moto they've been getting pretty popular
Briliant , I'm putting my money down on this !
I will definitely be watching this one..its a bit heavier that i was expecting.. cant wait to see prices and availability here in the USA.. thank you Solid cheers mate
We've had heavier bikes with single front discs and smaller discs in the past. The BMW F650GS and Sertao for example were around 196kg fully fuelled. So it's kind of a non-issue. We don't know if this comes with a standard lead acid battery or a LiFePO4 battery. If the former then there's a good 2.5kg to be saved there.
I agree with you totally about the engine, the 270* crank is god like, I just sold my Z650RS cos the motor was just so dull being 180* I've just ordered the 450NK
1 disk is enough, if the hardware is good... remember is not a sportbike for the track.
Looks damn near perfect. We just have to wait for the price and the confirmation on the weigh. If it were 175kg wrt that would be a no brainer. If 190kg the price would have to be a bit better than expected
10kg less than a Tenere 700 which has about 30 horses more, though already in the middle weight class.
Yes, my thoughts exactly! about 12kg lighter then my Aprilia Tuareg, and nearly half the HP????
@@connectorxp proabably less than half the price of a T7 while only requiring an RE motorcycle license level /LAMS...
Yeah unfortunately CF Moto bikes are always FAT.
@@connectorxp Different class of bike. Most likely 1/2 the price of a t7, learner legal.
Kove 800, twin cylinder, 165kg wet weight, 80 hp.
Dry weight, but still super light
As a fellow Aussie, not an ADV rider but rather a Sherco dirt bike rider, the Australian importers of Sherco, Mojo Motorcycles, are also the CF Moto importers.
They have quite a lot of CF Moto product in the country already, mostly quads and side by side buggies for farmers (plus the road bikes).
By and large, they give good service and don't have a lot of trouble with the brand.
Mojo also stock a big list of parts for the brand here in Australia.
Hope this helps.
The 450 is a bike I'd consider as my first ADV if I give up dodging trees in the bush 🙂
Thanks for the insight 👍
Greetings! This looks like a good bike; The fact that there is a better seat option at 800mm is a bloody start! In the 21st Century manufacturers should have seat hight options on their bikes... David....Adelaide/Kilburn.....Street Scrambler....
Ive had the 650MT for a couple years now, without any reliability issues. So far it has served me well.
Thanks for the owner feedback 😎
Thanks for the video. I really hope this thing does well, and is fairly reliable. I would like to see CF Moto and kove really take off in America. If nothing else, I think it will force change from the big dogs. Crossing my fingers for a DRZ 400 fuel injected unicorn. 425 cc single thumper, 50 horsepower and 35 lb of torque with a 6-speed, and adjustable seat height from 32 to 34 in, Great standing ergonomics for even 6 footers, 4 gallon tank, LED lighting, cruise control, and ready to accept racks and a skid plate, etc without a bunch of trouble. And maybe a realistic way of 370 lb? That's 50 more than the current DRZ, but if we get Uber light we're talking super expensive.
FYI. More info on the 450MT i just found. Another guy did a zoom in on the spec sheet at EICMA. I was right, they looked like tubeless wheels. They are in fact tubeless rims. So thats a bonus too.
Nice!
If I'm not mistaken, the 21" and 18" wheels are tubeless as well? That's a real bonus, and something Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda need to take note of.
depending on price, this might be exactly what I've been looking for.
The question is is any of these bikes going to make it to the USA ? Like what Cfmoto is doing as well as Royal Enfield interested if it makes it to US👍
I purchased a 150 CF Moto for my partner when learning to ride. I was pretty impressed with the brand overall and the build quality was decent. Little things like gear and brake levers would bend if the bike was laid over. However, overall if it was priced right, I think this will be a great option with a realistic weight for off road. I currently own a gen 3 klr for my adventure needs so I'm not in the market. But if I was, based on my brand experience, I'd definitely be considering this one.
I own the 450sr and it's a realy awesome bike. Heaps of tech including world tracker, bluetooth calls and music which I think you adventure guys will love. My 450sr in aust comes with 2 year & 3 year unlimited k warranty if you service it at a dealer, so I'm not worried about the reliability. The 450cc is very punchy in the lower rims, smoother than the 390 that I use to own (intact traded to get the 450sr), & faster. Only bad thing I can say about the 450 sr is that it is thirsty for the engine size at 4.3l per 100k's, which is why they probably put a bigger tank.
I really like the look of this bike and since I bought my 450sr which retails at $7999.00 and I picked mine up for $7,250 ride away, I'm sure this MT will retail at $8.5K in Australia. Only thing I wish the cf moto 450 line up would have which will make this bike punch above its weight, is a optional cruise control. If it has that you adventure guys would be laughing.
Game on Honda. Let's see you get the new NX below $10k.
Thanks for the owner feedback mate 👍 It’s always good to hear people’s IRL experiences.
This is what Kawa should have done with the Versys x300. Now that they have upgraded all other 400 platform to 500, wonder if we will get news about the versys 500 soon enough :p.
Edit: I'm quite happy we have more players in the fray. Zontes also have some amazing choices but they are only in the EU market :(. Not available in Australia yet
The 650 is nice, F a 500.
I think that! It will be very good priced !! May be under or same of the Honda 300 Rally !
I know a guy, who waited 6 months for a vital spare part from China.
My next bike ❤
If they price it well, it could be a huge seller
This is as close to the unicorn as anybody makes! I'm pretty sure CF Moto comes with a 3-year warranty. This is definitely at the top of my list now! 🏍️💨
Can’t believe KTM passed on this one. I hope it does well. China has arrived between the bikes CFMOTO and KOVE are coming out with.
doesn't KTM own Cfmoto?
Now also KTM goes the BMW way.
Deadly.
@@cangaroojack No.
@@Ozsmallbore Yeah technically you're right, KTM and CFmoto is a joint venture, but KTM owns 51% of CFmoto
@@cangaroojackno, there’s a lot of confusion over the partnership. Here’s out it breaks down. The two companies have a shared facility in China. CF Moto own 51% of that partnership. For a non Chinese company to manufacture in China, they have to have a Chinese partner, and the foreign company can’t own more then 49%. And that’s it. KTM has no shares in CF Moto whatsoever, and CF Moto now owns 2% of Pierer Mobility AG (who owns KTM) Now, KTM’s structure is this. “In 2007, Indian automotive giant Bajaj joined forces with KTM, buying a 14.5% stake that it would later extend to 46.5%, owned via its Dutch subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV. In 2021, Bajaj swapped its stake in KTM for a share of Pierer Mobility AG, which now owns 98.2% of KTM”
Honestly given the weight of the 390 adventure id imagine ktms parallel twin 490 adventure would have been maybe only 5-6kg lighter than this… for adv riders this is about as good as it gets for a 450/500 parallel twin. U want lighter than that come over to the dual sport side…
what dualsport 450/500 is available?
@@TheRealDuBTeK at this point id say there is no dual sport in that segment, the kove 450 and crf450RL are more enduros with slightly longer maintenance intervals than a regular enduro. The kove needs valve checks and oil changed every 1200miles or 30 hours of riding, crf450RL even less.
Actually i just realized kove released an 800x adventure which is an 800 parallel twin and much lighter than the cf450… no need to look for a cf450 or a ktm 490… why would u, the 800x looks way better than any light/middle adv bike on the market
Interesting ,Solid. I just don't think there are any dealers in my area.
9k ride away in Oz...damn that's sharp....
Maybe the dream bike….
Wondering if its tubless wheels. Spoke appear to be offset to the outside similar to most tubless rims. The single disc seemed to always stop the older CB500X just fine, with the 4 pistons, it should stop it good enough.
Yes, it is tubeless
I will definitely be putting this on my wish list ..but that all depends on how soon it will come to the US and of course price
If I was twenty years younger I'd buy one and stick Honda badges on it like I've done with my Kymco Ak550 Premium. LOL
Have you seen much press on the Kove range of bikes and their new 800x ADV bike that's recently been released.. will be interesting to see if we get em down here...
Looks good. Very Tenere for my eyes but seems heavy. Chinese seem to build bikes like tanks. 👍
the fact this comes with tubeless is probably going to sway me from the himi 450. Talked to the Enfield dealer and they have no news when the himi 450 tubeless will arrive
This is one i will keep my eye on. Rumor i heard it will have more power for USA markets...just a rumor at this point. I do like the upgrades to the new version of the CB500X.
NX500 vs Himalayan 452 vs Triumph 400 vs CFMoto 450. Game on!
nx500 with no second thought
you comparing a machine that can run even with out a drop of oil in the motor against 3 garbages cheap brands .good luck
@@xdx2653 Triumph and Honda are not garbage cheap brands
@@alrhodes5011 i didnt said that about honda but i said it for triumph.
Wow, it weighs about as much as the CF Moto CLX-700 platform, which also offers a scrambler-y ADV version. I wonder if you could get a used CLX-700 for around the same price as a new 450 MT.
What about the Kove 800X? That’s closer to the 🦄 with a claimed dry weight of 165kg.
820mm seat height great
Stats are similar to first generation TransAlp. CF Moto has quite a few dealers in Canada because of their off-highway equipment and have a good reputation. Chinese market gets them first?
And what is the service intervals?
Wonder of that weight includes crash bars.
Id say Its the closest to the unicon so far this year just need to check the ktm 390 sw
Looks good, but keeping the T7 for proven reliability and I have a Yamaha dealer literally 5 minute walkaway!... Thanks 4 the info as always mate 👌👍
range, price seat comfort
Very nice a small ADV bike. The question is how does it do highspeed pavement for long periods of time. I love my DR650 but it is awful to ride long distances at speed on the pavement.
Please talk about the KOVE 800 X Rally!!
The only thing we miss at the moment is trust in reliability of a CF Moto.
How to get asap?
Who has been waiting for the Versys 400 ? Maybe this is the closest any manufacturer has gotten (and it's not from the Japanese big four). The three Aussie journos (MAD etc) were impressed from the Philippines launch (catch the dusty videos' - comfort break). And at six and a half grand for the base model here in the States, fingers crossed for the light 50/50 unicorn. I might get one with the milk money.
Only 820mm max seat height. That's naked/sports bike level. Only for small riders then. Would need another 60-80mm to call it an actual Enduro.
Slightly concerned about the 450mt and the new Himalayan having their motors as stressed members, primary hanging from the headstock/upper spars and lightly fixed to the frame adjacent to as apposed to being part of the swing arm pivot. I did hear of one of the bike hire/tour operators having a few of their CB500x crack the engine casing, though they didn't say whether it was from jumping the bike or grounding the sump on an immovable object or such. And then there's the case of early Himalayan cracking the frame.
As I have recently put a deposit down on the 450 Himalayan and now CF Moto bring out a very desirable 450 parallel twin priced exactly alike with good suspension on paper, I find myself in a conundrum.
I think I will be test riding both before I hand over any more money & hope to find some exacting reviews on the MT rather than regurgitated press release video of burning hay bails & roosted gravel. Not including you in that category, but if I have to listen to another text to speech clip one more time, I will scream.
Keep up the good work Solid & keep enjoying my old stomping grounds. Cheers from Brissy. ⛵
Looks very promising, but I will reserve judgement until someone gets their hands on it and does a respectable, off-road riding test with it. I do wish CF Moto would take some inspiration from Kove and keep the plastics more simple. Looking at this bike I kept saying to myself "I wanna rip off those plastics on the front and replace them with a bare bones Nav Tower".
CF Moto own part of the group that own KTM, it’s not just a manufacturing partnership, it’s much bigger than that and they do allot of the R&D for the smaller bikes, I think it’s 25% of the group.
Thanks for the info 👍
Yep, the new bikes are also designed by Kiska who does the KTMs
yeap and this is the best reason for me to stay away from any ktm or cf moto bike.unless you have a girlfriend from inside ktm company so you can repair your shit with some discount
Next year I'm hoping to get a bike like this, a manageable small adventure bike, it's been a few years since I've ridden a bike. But where I live I don't get to see any bikes. Is this comparable to the CB500X/NX500?
Interesting…it depends on price of course. My cb 500 x would cost around 8000 euro with upgraded suspension and as such it is widely used off-road .This bike should then be around 6500 euro to persuade anyone I think😊..but it will be more I am sure.
Chinese Boat anchors. Boat anchors are actually lighter.
Boat anchors maybe. But they do build several of the KTM's.
frame strong
Does the weight in the spec sheet takes into account the skid plate and crash bars? if that is the case it is not bad at all.
40lbs heavier than a 390 with crash bars and skid plate.
Suzuki should have built this same bike 6 speed fuel range power seat height ,if its only reliable like a suzuki
Yeah, the KTM 490 platform being killed was a huge disappointment. I was really looking forward to a Husqvarna Svartpilen 501.😔
I don't have any problems with this brand out of china they have been producing some really good bikes lately. I believe its launch date for Australia is sometime in the second quarter of 2024.
It’s the same power as the Dr650 but better 😊
And heavier
If this bike was at 150-160kg fully fueled it would have been a true unicorn i think.
wree u gona find a 300 lb bike.only enduros or ktm atk
I've been wanting a lightweight thumper designed primarily for off road adventure riding but with the power to comfortably cruise on the highway. A large segment of the ADV market has been demanding something similar but the manufacturers have refused to deliver because who would buy their expensive mid size and large ADV bikes when a lighter and less expensive ADV bike does almost everything better? Hopefully, the big guys will lose market share to the 450MT and Kove 450 Rally and they'll be forced to respond with their own ultralight ADV muscle bikes.
ktm atk first secon klr

The marketing is brilliant, what everyone looking for what lacking in this model will be in the next year released as upgrade good move CFMoto
