  • To start the build of this truck camper we start with weather sealing and insulating the truck cap. This is a simple process that you only need a knife and a measuring tape to complete. Stay tuned for videos on the complete build.

You ever get condensation on the metal ribs? They act as a thermal bridge if they're not insulated.

How did you get the insulation board to stick to the roof? Does it have an adhesive backing or did you use an adhesive? Thanks

I just cut it so it was tight to the hole and then taped the seems with silver heat tape been about two years now and hasn’t come loose or been changed at all. You could PL it if you really wanted, this box has aluminum frame so the insulation panels I used were the same thickness and fit right in.

Looks great! Have you considered drilling oak planks into the cross supports and make it like a little cabin?

Thank you! And I have been thinking about it. Going to build the bed system first and go from there. Would definitely look good with the planks installed!

Are those old loose hay picks on the wall? My grandfather used to put hay in the barn that way, it was always kind of fun getting set up for it.

Yes they are. The shop is actually inside an old hay barn!

Since your a young guy climbing in and out for every piece may not be that hard for you. But old guys like myself tend to work smart instead of hard and i would have just flipped that cap over on the floor and did it that way so no need to climb in and out repeatedly. Good job though.

Haha ya I was a little sore after doing it myself. That would have worked well too! Good idea!

I can't find toppers where I live for Fords. They are all gone or bought up.
