@ Sean vs ddp DDP was the one who made it exciting sean just fought defensively and jabbed moving backwards. STill not as exciting as so many other fights that happened last year. Sean vs abus had action because of abus lmao and sean just waited for him to gas out to actually get the finish. And izzy vs sean was only exciting because of the shock value of an underdog winning the only highlight of that fight was literally the knockdown in the first round the rest of the fight was a typical sean strickland snoozefest.

Against Duplessis it was Dricus who was pushing the pace the entire time, which is what got him the win from the judges, despite the fact I thought Strickland landed better strikes.
It’s not people that are really fans of mma, more just fans of certain styles or the show. What makes him entertaining is what he does, shouldn’t work as often as it does.
I’ll be real Costa really declined as a fighter. He used to be a real contender but now he just stands in front of his opponent the entire fight, keeping distance but doing nothing with it. I mean yeh, Izzy was an artist with the counters, but you have to at least throw a little pressure onto your opponent. He lacks that now. And it sucks because he is a very skilled fighter, he throws random combos that could kill a man. But he doesn’t do it enough. True his cardio isn’t the greatest he gets gassed fairly often but he’s still able to explode. He needs to do it more. And he’s pretty competent in the clinch. Idk. I’m still a fan but he is far from exciting anymore. He has such potential but it feels like he just lacks confidence nowadays. He barely even attempts to get into close exchanges anymore, which is probably due to the knockout and the Izzy fight. But you have got to be able to come back and make those adjustments. Now he barely makes any adjustments at all. And that’s a very bad situation to be in when fighting such a defensively competent fighter like Strickland.

Trash coaching. Paulo had good insticts until he lost to Izzy and he started second guessing himself so bad he relies on trash coaches he was probably told were good instread of deciding himself. They all keep telling him what they think he wants to hear. He doesnt fight or make decisions like he used to. He has to be assured by a second opinion now. He also is scared of getting knocked out again. The costa that fought romero could have given Adesanya a fight like he had vs gaestlum and that would have been an amazing fight to have gotten but he lost to the pressure of a championship fight and now he seems to lose mentally half way through fights before even knowing if he can or cant win. He barely had confidence against rockhold and actually had some against whittaker but even then he was scared to get into exchanges or throw combos anymore. He hasn't landed more than 2 hit combos since his fight before izzy. It's just a shame to see someone with such potential get so close to the top and get so scared of how high the fall is from the top they aren't willing to make that leap of faith for the top

@@WillieFungoit’s not that simple. A cautious fighter in the 3rd is very different from a visibly gassed fighter throwing caution to the wind in the 5th. We see 5th round finishes all the time, because the windows present themselves when you have fighters actually TRYING to finish it. That goes both ways. Openings will come more readily when someone is desperate, or if they’re overly comfortable even. 5th rounds are almost always exciting for that exact reason, it’s usually where fighters either become too comfortable, or decide that something needs to happen. If you’re unwilling to get there then just don’t watch the fight man. Fighters are typically going to try and score points either way. When an opportunity presents itself, they’ll capitalize. And earlier rounds those opportunities are generally just less likely. That’s just common sense man. And to ask a fighter to fight less smart for entertainment is just dumb.
You can’t have a boring fight without both guys being at fault cause even when someone does brawl with Strickland like jack and driscus they’re very close fights that Strickland tries to point fight through, I think people really wouldn’t mind if Strickland didnt ham up this crazy man persona and talk about war all the time then people wouldn’t care, his style is point fighting whether it’s him pressuring or backing up he does like to pretend to be a warrior at the end of fights tho, he screams and eggs them on he fights more like a warrior in sparring lol.

There’s still a fight happening but it’s a very slow burn. It’s more frustrating than anything, especially considering how much potential there is in Costa that’s just been squandered his recent career. Strickland is Strickland, he walks them down and peppers. But Costa fights as of late have been rather slow affairs pretty consistently. The combination isn’t exactly an exciting fight.
