I like how some of the lyrics cast the kobolds in a sympathetic light. “In spite of the blood that was spilled before you whet your blades, you thirst for more.” It’s a nice reminder that the kobolds didn’t fire the first shot in this conflict, Limsa did when they started colonizing their lands, both during their initial establishment, and when they broke their treaties after the calamity.
Actually...When lominsans first settled they werent aware of the kobolds at all until the kobolds (untempered btw) completely brutalized an entire camp of people, woman and children too.

@@angulardrift1537 It's really a little bit of both. Lominsas invaded their territory, whether they knew it or not. Now if killing everyone was the best way to deal with that situation is debatable. It's really not something that can be blamed entirely on one side or the other

@@sapotheo4515 Kobolds had never suffered at the hands of the 'human' races before that, so they had no reason to attack instead of trying to be diplomatic. They acted like monsters, Limsa still enacted diplomacy with them. If Limsa acted against them after the Calamity, then frankly that makes sense in my eyes. It was the apocalypse.

Merlwyb herself admits that it was the Lominsans that wronged the Kobolds, that they had a treaty with each other, but then the Lominsans broke it to claim the land that belonged to the Kobolds which caused all this mess and which is why she was willing to let the High Priest kill her to make amends for the wrong that they committed.

@@souldanny. Same deal with the final boss, you can hear shades of XIV's imperial theme, and/or the main theme that you hear in a lot of more "epic" moments. BUUUT to be fair, Soken is the composer sooo leit motifs and what not

I finally started playing this game a couple of months ago, having managed to know basically nothing about it but its positive reputation. When I heard the orchestral bombast in the Ifrit fight, I was expecting the boss themes to be good.
I was not expecting the Titan theme to *rock this hard*

When I started playing (I think it was 4 months ago) I didn't know anything about the game except its positive reputation and its music. I had listened most of the boss battle songs and that was what motivated me to start the game when I learned about the free trial.
I know how far I have come in the game based in how many songs that I knew I have already listen while playing. The soundtrack it's too good.
Oh the Titan theme ROCKS but my personal moment was when Shiva's theme played after she stepped on us. That gave me goosebumps
The lyrics for this are simple, but also fucking genius. Seriously. The words are incredibly threatening, elegant in their aggression, and perfectly capture the essence of Titan and of this fight. So, so much talent has gone into FFXIV. It's a goddamn miracle of a game.

I've always liked to headcanon that primal music comes about as a result of their passive influence, which is why your player character, even with the echo, can still hear it during combat.
Soken casually sneaking this into Titan Lost and thinking we wouldn't notice.

Also kind of neat they do give him that Sumo feel. He's not about speed, he's about using overwhelming bulk and strength.

I like that there’s parts that kinda sound like Titan Lost from FF16.
I like Titan. He does not abuse his people. But defends its people. He even kills himself when he sees what was needed to create him.
Incidentally I like how the personalities of the primals are different. And how they represent the personalities of those who summon them.
I love how the song becomes more triumphant over time, almost like the game is patting you on the back for surviving Titan Ex/Unreal for so long. Also when running Titan Ex back in the day 4:41 was when you knew you had a good group and could win.

In one of the old casual interviews, the devs were asked whether they hid anything in-game, Soken admitted that the draft for this song had a not so subtle english swearword that the QA team caught when they tested the trial.
I think the lyrics had "bow down overdweller" was originally along the lines of "bow down motherfucker" when Koji Fox sang it, because I can imagine Soken and Koji Fox do this.
Who'd have thought the chorus was "bow down overdweller" and not "walabaladiba walabalala"

I was wondering if anyone was unfortunate enough to not make it in time before maintenance, was doing an msq dung and we only got out 1 minute before the servers shut down lmao. Speedrunning dungs is kinda expected but I feel kinda bad for u and ur raid. I was queuing for a raid instead of the dung at first and that was 15 mins before the shutdown lmao.

Now I get funny looks at work when this song pops up in my shuffle, can't stop the urge to sing along.
Under the Weight is a very nostalgic track for me because there is an epic tale attached to it.
Allow me to cast your minds way back to pre-Heavensward. Seven Hells, this was even before Rogue and Ninja were added in ARR patches. Jobs played very differently and role actoins were cross-class abilities instead! It was the wild west of FFXIV.
I was a Dragoon main for ARR and Heavensward. And early ARR Dragoon was quite possibly the worst job in the game's history because jumps had animation lock and actually took several seconds to execute. You had no invulnerability period either. Oh, and the netcode was even more of a mess than it is today. Now that the stage is set, onto our story.
I was progressing through the ARR MSQ, and I got to Titan. Was struggling for days trying to clear the fight because it was an actual hurdle back in those days. Party members didn't return to the arena when they were knocked off to be revived. So the instance where I triumphed over the Lord of Crags went like this.
My party was a Paladin, a Black Mage, a White Mage, and myself as Dragoon. We had wiped a few times already and were getting pretty exhausted. We steeled ourselves for one final attempt because we were getting close. We get Titan past the heart phase with zero casualties. We're all feeling really good! But then things start going downhill.
Black Mage gets lagged and gets hit by a landslide, knocking them off. Our DPS was still decent and the White Mage is alive so not the worst that could happen. Around 15-20%, the White Mage gets clipped by a landslide, knocking them off. Things have gotten serious, now!
Here is where cross-class abilities come into the picture. Paladin had access select Conjurer abilities, including Cure. So they could do a timy bit of healing. Paladin also had access to Marauder abilities. Most importantly here, Bloodbath, which healed 10% of damage dealt by GCDs and auto-attacks. The Paladin did not have a huge MP pool, so Cure was only helpful for so long.
Dragoon had access to Marauder and Pugilist cross-class abilities. Which included the aforementioned Bloodbath, but also Fracture (a GCD DoT from Marauder), and Second Wind (an oGCD heal from Pugilist). These abilities allowed the Paladin and I to sustain ourselves for a little bit longer. At around 10%, the Paladin runs out of MP. We're both now on heavily borrowed time. Paladin finally falls at around 7% remaining, Titan now turning his stone cold gaze upon me.
To try and mitigate the damage I would receive I began running around the arena and using Piercing Talon to maintain distance. Only getting close to reapply Fracture for the free damage. At around 3-4%, Titan marks me for the Granite Gaol. That is when I decide to stand my ground to maximize my DPS. Because either I die from Titan releasing a Mountain Buster into my face or the gaol encases me, killing me after a short time.
I pop all my damage buffs except Blood for Blood (Now Lance Charge, but it increased damage received by 25%, and onlybgave a 5% damage increase at that level) and began my normal rotation. With Titan having a sliver of HP left, I lose control of my character. The countdown for the gaol ended. The screen faded to black quickly like any other situation where the last party member gets encased, normally indicating a wipe. But instead the cutscene for defeating Titan plays after the fade out. The DoTs I applied shortly before getting encased had finished Titan's remaining HP.
The rest of the party was freaking out from me clenching victory from the jaws of defeat. Meanwhile, I was completely dumbstruck. I don't know if any of those three are still playing. But regardless of if they are, I hope they are doing well and cannot thank them enough for leaving me with such a fond memory. It is a memory that is etched into my soul and shall never be forgotten.
Fought this guy for the first time took our group 5 tries before we got them. The music was super good every time but i really had no idea the lyrics were in English lol.
Almost done with realm reborn content, gotta say Under the Weight is still my favorite theme so far.
Halfway through Shadowbringers, can confirm Titan still my favorite theme, with Sephirot being a very close second.

Soken thought we'd never notice that Kupka's leitmotif in XVI is lifted directly from the guitar solo from 1:39 onwards.
XVI's Titan in general is a XIV callback machine. Shit, Kupka even said "my hatred for you is unending, unyielding".

I just. Like. They didn't have to go THIS hard with this song but they did and it's amazing and I think it shows how much they care about their game. I've only been playing for a couple months now but my ass is never going back to WoW. I can just tell that this game is their baby meanwhile blizzard is more focused on making as much money as possible. Honestly it's embarrassing how long I was loyal to them 😠
