They may have slightly different tempos, but they both share almost identical riffs on the guitar for the verse, which is repeated and the main theme of the song. Same notes. They are both sung soft at the verse and scream at the chorus and both have an industrial metal sound to them. They are in no way "nothing alike". I've given enough information two point out the parallels between them and why people would think it sounds like when worlds collide. Why else would many people who have heard both from across the globe come to the conclusion that it sounds like worlds collide. It's not some grand conspiracy. There is enough parallels for people to think it. People are aware of the differences, it's not a 1:1 copy, that doesn't mean it's not heavily based on it. As to wether Soken heard collide or not, that's up for dispute. You can believe him or don't. I would say even if he had ripped it off, he's not exactly going to admit to that. There is plenty of works in FF that sound fairly similar to other songs in existence though. I don't care either way, it's still a good song even if it's heavily based on it.

you know, if I had a nickel for every final fantasy song whose name was based around an angel with a specific number of wings or powers depending on the interpretation, who accompanied a mistreated demigod who nearly destroys all of humanity because of it, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice.
It's more like he is named after the sephirot of the Tree of Life in Kabbalah. each Sephirot or sphere is related to some higher-functioning aspect of the universe or soul. It is also a means to "map" god and understand creation as a whole based off of the correspondencies between each sephirot and thier eminations.
Now this is what it's like when worlds collide!
what is it really that is in your head
what little life that you had just died
_what do you mean Sephirot's theme is metal as fuck and slaps harder than the green death orbs was nobody going to tell me about this??_
It's actually a mechanic. You have to dodge AoEs while head-banging.
wish this was the theme that played on his bird
Agreed this song is awesome!
I love how the lore is in the music in this game! These set of quests were awesome and an emotional roller coaster
when worlds coll- that killed me im glad someone remembers powerman5000
Getting major DMC vibes from this
As a RDM main, I have personally displaced Displacement to the nether regions of my hotbars -- so that I don't respond to calling of the edge tonight~ As a Powerman 5000 fan, F to the YES for calling out to "When Worlds Collide"! These lyrics are bloody fantastic, too, maybe the most edgy in the whole dang game.
NIN vibes from this theme. It actually is pure fire.
surprised not many people are saying this
They literally just ripped off Powerman 5000 lol
Jesus Chirst, these lyrics still go hard.
Honestly, I haven't played WoW or FF14. But I can tell that FF14 has the superior experience awaiting for me!
played both and its true. One of the best game ever with such an amazing story
Gameplay is better on wow, ffxiv pretty much better at everything else, the whole catgirl and gnomes stuff is cringe tho
@@quinnquinnquinn215 Yeah because WoW full of literall furries and Gnomes plus Goblins is not cringe at all lol.
@@quinnquinnquinn215lol combat in wow has no challenge you hit like 4 or 5 buttons 14 has real complicated rotations
The only real downside of FFXIV is the cult of Yoshi-P. For it is forbidden to ever criticise that overrated, incompetent opportunist lest you be ostracised by his obsessive fans.
Most of whom pay a sub to sit in Limsa all day spamming /beesknees on their catgirls.
Play as a monk. Equip fists of the fiend. Put this music in the background. Enjoy!
Treading out upon the stagnant waters
Our savior waiting for a turn in the tide
You are the night at the end of the tunnel
Now this is what it's like WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE
1:21 3:11 5:01 6:51 these parts are my favourite
Lesser men led to this comment, turning away and disobeying
Two days remain lads, prepare to have this rocking at full blast!
I finally understand the description, this song sounds extremely similar to When Worlds Collide by Powerman 5000
The first time I did this fight I thought they had just dropped that song into the game
@UC8i15Yl0TNAolx740I7y3lQ PM5K whined on facebook about it being a ripoff, so now the Mount doesnt play its theme.
Thanks, bitch ass band.
Holy shit
A powerman 5000 reference
In MY FINAL FANTASY?!
I recently did this fight for the first time with one of the boys (UK mentor that helped get me into the game)
By the end of it the fight I said the music gives me PM5K vibes
Only to Google and turn out the comparison is so spot on with the community that spider one himself (lead vocalist of pm5k) said back in 2016 that "fiend" was a blatant straight up steal of their song "when worlds collide" xD I can definitely see why
Funniest thing is that soken and team claimed they have never heard worlds collide before, or even know who p5000 is lmao.
The songs are nothibg alike lol people who arnt musicans shouldnt talk about this stuff
@@ziegfeld4131 Neither should you if you cannot see the similarities. They may have slightly different tempos, but they both share almost identical riffs on the guitar for the verse, which is repeated and the main theme of the song. Same notes. It's easy to see why someone would be reminded of them both due to that. They slightly differ in how they are strummed.
Almost forgot what a banger this track is ^^ thankfully the 6.2 unreal trial is there to let us remember what a badass song and fight this is when doing it on milvl ^^
Getting ready for the Unreal!
This has become one of my favorite songs from you :3
anyone notice how Sephirot seems to have at least a few physical similarities to Zodiark?
the weird-looking chest, the horns, the six arms?
((yes I know Zodiark technically has three, but it is clear from his battle damage that he USED to have six!))
Im still in Heavensward so theres info I dont have, especially about Zodiark. But since its usually Ascians that goad people into summoning, I wouldnt be surprised if Sephirot was influenced by a description of Zodiark by the Ascians.
@@badwrongfun5541 seems kind of weird that they'd give a description of their God to the tree-worshipping people specifically, doesn't it?
@@christopherbravo1813 I mean sure but it doesn't actually look like Zodiark. Its suppossed to look like Fiend from FF VI and Zodiark didn't have an appearence yet. Zodiark actually looks like Feind / Sephirot, likely completely coincidently just from classic demon imagrey. And we're just making up fake, uneccsary in fiction rationalizations after the fact. They're never actually going to make sense.
@@badwrongfun5541 maybe, I just think it's ironic.
How in the love of god and everything that is holy is this NOT the song that damn Mount plays?!?! I about shit my pants when I got the lanner and heard the stock boss theme from the Warring Triad bosses. The mounts from ARR and HW are like the opposite where the Mount plays the best part of the song versus the crummy part. Sephirot, Ravana, Bismarck- it was such a bummer to find that out
iirc that was deliberately done to avoid even more trouble with powerman 5000 :(
i heard this for the first time a few dies and thought "YOOO, IS THIS DMC MUSIC?!"
I got into FFXIV because I found a video of the Sephirot fight. It still slapsZ
Best theme of the entire triad ^^
Awesome work on the vid, but you should consider changing the way text fades in every time a new lyric comes up.It makes it difficult to read the current lyric because the text is overlaid for like a second. The way you did it on your seat of sacrifice video was perfect, go back to it
The chorus always had be bobbing my head when I did my lanner farm runs
Didn't know I was playing a DMC soundtrack.
"Say my name, SAY MY NAME"
YOUR NAME IS ALEXANDER
All I hear is pm5k, NIN and Rammstein meshed into something that took me back to highschool.
NOW THIS IS WHAT ITS LIKE WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE
Gives me the time has come vibes, so good
Koji had no reason to go so hard on the second chorus, but man am I glad that he did.
Truly underrated OST ! It's fire !
All GNB players are legally required to dye their trenchcoats Dalmund Red/default colour before entering this fight
SAY MY NAME
sephirot
YOURE GODDAMN RIGHT
Soken definitely took some inspiration from Powerman 5000. I can hear the When Worlds Collide influence and I adore it
this is awesome its like a lost NIN song
this unreal was so much fun
The time has come and so have I
This gives ma such a powerman 5000 - when worlds collide vibe.
Sephirot!
I hear similarities with PM5K's When Worlds Collide. It sounds good and these lyrics are fucking sweet. The Edge is real.
more like it's practically a carbon copy of that song lol
WHY WAS THIS PART NOT ON THE MOUNT
This theme goes so hard.
Getting HUGE powerman 5000 vibes from this.
this so should've been the theme to play on the sephirot bird, but no, instead we get the regular warring triad theme.
Oh, I wish they could add Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 14
Painful Boss battles + Banger music = "It hurts so good."
