@@john_7000 It's a joke, my dude. I don't think anyone genuinely believes that Emet Selch was in the right here. (Unless they're an Overlord fan, but that's just how that goes.)
When I first went through the dialog leading up to this fight I was saying this is a horrible idea. Once the fight happened and Ryne was possessed I let out a sigh and said to my wife, "whelp looks like we gotta smack the stupid out of her like we did her dad."
I thought the lyrics was referring to letting Shiva in and becoming part of yourself, but it can also refer to letting Hydaelyn in and letting Her control you. It's a great song for Ryne, who's always had to be Minfilia.
This song also harkens back to Ysayle, not just in rhythm and tempo, or being a remix, but lyrically and thematically as well. Ysayle was a very religious woman, a echo wielding, Warrior of light/blessing holding. She was driven not only by her faith, but her knowledge of the truth and want for peace. And when Hraesvalgr told her that she wasn't in fact the reincarnation of Shiva, and she was essentially letting a hodge podge fake Shiva into her body, it crushed her. She thought she was special, she wanted so badly to be someone of importance. Finding out the truth, finding out the lie she told herself, it crushed her. She made the ultimate sacrifice not only because she believed in us, but because she wanted to repent. This song is just as much about Ryne and her relations to Minfillia and Hydaelyn as it is Ysayle's struggle with her religion, beliefs, and trials/tribulations.
it's also kinda chilling to think WoL's feelings watching this unfold, who now knows hydaelyn is a primal and has to question wether or not they're just a slave to her, or just what it means to be so close to this kind of a force
@@shinkamui I love that "slave to my fate ever doomed to repeat this" and "you'll never win unless you turn the light on" can really work both ways, for the generations of Minfilias and for WoL themselves. But then again since the Minfilia line ends with Ryne.
The thing is just because Hydaelyn is a primal doesn't mean she is evil. Heck Alexander and Ramuh are already clear examples of this and don't forget that Hyaelyn helped stop the Flood of Light. (She is also apparently the singer of Dragon Song) Also remember that despite the main plot of SB being about returning darkness, the WoL solves everything in a Light connected manner. Leaving me to believe that the turn the light on segment may also refer to our hero having to fully commit their powers granted by Hydaelyn to defeating Shiva if we are to save Ryne. After all Ryne's soul longs for oblivion rather than destroy everything and everyone she and Scions wish to save.
@@TheSwordsman100 just because she isn't evil, doesn't mean she can't be an antagonist. The whole theme of the game so far have been pointing towards the wol taking ownership of their fate, and we have been shown that even though she means well, her winning is bound to cause a calamity. And we're pretty good at winning as her champion. This is where the tension comes from, in the ''turn the light on'' cause in that stage, ryne was about to cause a second flood.
i find it interesting how this version of shiva looks almost exactly like ryne, while the previous shiva didn't look much like ysayle i suppose that's the difference between a being born of belief and faith and a being born of memories, one would have a more static appearance. also helps that ysayle literally believed herself to be the reincarnation of shiva, while ryne believes herself separate from her
My friend and I were having this exact conversation. I always find it so cool to see a summoning take on the traits of the summoner, they always have really cool designs.
i think it might also have something to do with it not being shiva, just like how the other eden primals are not the original primals either. just WoL's memory of Shiva, alongside Ryne using herself. "just visualize shiva... but ryne" ~wol, probably

I checked the current price for Return to Oblivion on Hyperion right after that and it was a little over 4 million. I suppose that would be more than enough to bankrupt most.
This song is so good, but the lyrics are so sad when you actually start thinking about their meaning. "Too lost to the ice for saving" - ever despaired in your own lack of power to change your fate so hard that you eventually don't feel anything anymore, like your heart is literally frozen over?
It happens to everyone. You melt your heart by selflessness and compassion for others. The frost is bitter, the flame is love. All a part of the journey.
I think because of both the demand and a fight with long cutscenes and intermissions kinda makes sense. But with dawntrail prob will be way easier to unsync this and prices will drop.
I absolutely love this song! From the moment I first heard it, it captured my attention with its catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics. The way the artist blends different musical elements and the way the voice resonates through the verses and choruses is simply captivating. Each time I listen to it, it evokes a range of emotions, and I find myself singing along and getting lost in the music. It's one of those songs that I never get tired of and always brings a smile to my face. It truly holds a special place in my heart.
timing the phase transition with the piano section was SO well done (it's helped that part of the song become my favorite part lmao, it's SUCH a good bit)
This fight is like a grand orchestra with a staggering number of notes. The harmony has to be preserved by proper timing, precise positions, orderly tempo, and as loud as you can get to pull through it. So, that by the end you can be satisfied by the part you have played. This is truly one of the most beautiful and challenging fights of the game.

Hands down, the best theme for any raid since Heavensward. This is combined also with one of the most visually satisfying and mechanically well designed savage fights they've ever designed as well. I don't know how they'll ever out do this.
We also said the same thing for Tsukuyomi and Omega. How could they top that? Heck, we thought Hades was the high point of this expansion, and look what they did with Seat of Sacrifice. These guys are on fire both with the music and the complexities of the fights. (And just so I'm clear, I feel this is definitely one of the best fights in this expansion, probably second only to SoS so far.)
@@E-L337 Honestly, before this, the best theme was Rise "a.k.a. part 2 of Alexander" so I'd agree with it being the best since Heavensward. That fight is just super and having the 2nd half start with the equivalent of an alarm going off to warn you about an incoming nuke you have to stop with your hands is amazing as a mood setter
Low key I love how much this fight is like a classic FF boss. Between the design and the size difference, I can easily see this being some kind of fight from the older 16 bit games.
As someone who's still way back in Heavensward and has been extremely slow about bit by bit working my way up through the storyline, I'm just sitting here listening to random songs form the OST without looking at the video attached at all so as to not spoil myself and just.... absolutely nearly fainting from the sheer magnificence nearly knocking me out of my chair. As a guy who's been obsessed w/ JRPGs including FF itself throughout my life with the music being one of the most important elements of that enjoyment, this all just goes above and beyond to a level I never could've expected, ESPECIALLY from an MMO. And as the story where I'm at is finally heating up and getting really good, I keep hearing how better and better it gets in Shadowbringers... Yeah, it's time I caught up for real, in time for Endwalker.
Just a friendly post to let the newer players know that "Oblivion" is the name of the second theme in Shiva's fights. This is for Shadowbringers. Please don't read down here if you haven't gotten that far. There are spoilers. I've learned that the hard way.

This was my first experience at savage raiding (I went with my static through the learning and clearing of every fight until the last one of Shadowbringers) and it was one of the best experiences I ever had in a mmorpg. The memory of this music will be forever burned into my brain. I was a SCH tho.
Still the best boss theme IMO. The most hyped part with only dance beats coincide perfectly with the most convoluted mechanics in the fight. A masterpiece.
Raiding for years I thought it was interesting they did a bold reimagineing of the core primals from ARR while different radically the fights felt familiar as if trying to remember something but can't quite get it right
Okay but the transition to Ryne!Shiva phase 2 in E8N on week one was really something. The scalp tingles hearing this music for the first time were really something. Not like in a weird way but like damn this was good music and I wish I could experience this for the first time again.
I can't help but feel like this fight is some big tease as to how Hydaelyn vs Zodiark went down. Maybe there was surprise interference by Midgardsormr to swing the fight in Hydaelyn's favor we never heard about in game.

@@Arthrexx Is it evil when you murder someone because you believe that since they're not the same race as you you'll make the world a better place by killing them in the name of some god you worship?
I dunno, sounds like stuff that us modern-types make fun of ancient tribes for doing thousands of years ago and all that funny business.
“Go back I want to be Shiva” - Ryne, probably
This is where the tension comes from, in the ''turn the light on'' cause in that stage, ryne was about to cause a second flood.
i find it interesting how this version of shiva looks almost exactly like ryne, while the previous shiva didn't look much like ysayle
i suppose that's the difference between a being born of belief and faith and a being born of memories, one would have a more static appearance.
also helps that ysayle literally believed herself to be the reincarnation of shiva, while ryne believes herself separate from her
My friend and I were having this exact conversation. I always find it so cool to see a summoning take on the traits of the summoner, they always have really cool designs.
i think it might also have something to do with it not being shiva, just like how the other eden primals are not the original primals either.
just WoL's memory of Shiva, alongside Ryne using herself.

While not the reason my WoL was out of Gil (I had just bought a house plot) I found that option too funny to ignore. Now if they had asked me about my Glamour obsession...
That "Again and Again" segment from Jocat's Tank video makes so much more sense now.
3, almost 4 years later and this song is STILL 4 million on the market board.
This is easily the best song from the Eden raids, I love it so much

Please, look forward to it.
@@E-L337 Honestly, before this, the best theme was Rise "a.k.a. part 2 of Alexander" so I'd agree with it being the best since Heavensward.
