This fight is why this is the best game I've played in years. It's just genuinely fun. Best boss fight in gaming history. Such an incredibly crafted boss fight. I wish more dev teams came up with stuff like this. It's even better in FF Mode too. Still as amazing as the first time I fought him
And here I was thinking that it can't get any crazier than vs. Titan then all of a sudden we are fused going full dragon ball and fighting bahamut in space. Incredible boss fight 11/10
Fought Bahamut and thought "Damn that was sick, but it was going to be hard to top Titan Lost anyway" then they really pulled this shit out. Was super sick, haven't gotten to Odin yet but it's got me worried on what level of head exploding set piece we'll have there.
Minor spoilers about the Odin fight It's much less of a spectacle fight than Titan and Bahamut, and focuses more on the personal clash between the characters' beliefs. It's more Clive vs Barnabas than Ifrit vs Odin.
Honestly, i love what they did for Ifrit here, he's usually the weaker summon monster, the first one you get and always falls off and gets replaced with Phoenix... not this time, he's easily one of the most powerful beings in the franchise in his world.
Love the baroque/classical elements in this battle soundtrack. It reflects Dion’s royal background very well. Sounds like something JS Bach would compose.
I'd say this is much closer to 'classical' music (like Mozart) rather than baroque (like Bach). Baroque stuff usually consists of a lot of short interwoven motifs rather than long melodic lines as you hear in this piece. Also for true baroque sound, you absolutely need organ or harpsichord haha
@@robertge648 IMHO it has both, there are elements of JA Bach, Mozart and even some early Beethoven in this piece. Especially the parts with the counterpoint.
Counterpoint is used frequently in all periods. However, Baroque composers focus on counterpoint while classical composers only sprinkle in the counterpoint, usually for thematic development. Also, classical music is far more melodic in sound than Baroque music, which is hyperfocused on stuff like counterpoint and ornamentation (i.e. random scales/arpeggios). While it's impossible to split music into tidy boxes, this piece really doesn't carry much of a Baroque sound to my ears. Granted, I've watched analyses where professional musicians say they heard Baroque stuff. Compared to myself, who only did orchestra stuff into college and only does the occasional string quartet for weddings. So who knows. Music is different for everyone. P.S. 0:58 sounds almost exactly like the opening to Beethoven Piano Sonata #1. So I totally agree with you about the early Beethoven part. Check it out
@@MundusFate They're different game so I can't really compare, I wish GoW:R had some epic boss battles though, some epic battle against the Asgardian Gods like the epic battle against god-being Eikons but we already got those type of epic battles on the original God Of War series, so I'm fine with a more story focused story on Kratos! Titan boss battle reminded me of Kratos VS Chronos from GOW3 🥲
@@MundusFate God of war ragnorok is incredible and well worth the play, but it doesn't have even half the sense of scale as FF16. Ragnorok is more personal, and the fights are usually 1v1, with little to know dynamics in stage and environment destruction, unless you're talking about some of the major bosses, but even then, it's nothing crazy. FF16 is on a whole other level.
@@GOWBuuzer Well GOWR is ultimately a very human story that at it's heart is about a father and a son, it makes sense that despite all it's big fights it's still really intimate and in a weird way grounded (which I know sounds ridiculous considering it's a story about literal Gods but to me that contradiction made it even more clever and special). Final fantasy games from my understanding are usually really large scale epic stories which to be honest I prefer, ff16 still has a lot of heart but I just adore the visuals and music as these larger than life scenes play out. Like the first time titan is introduced or this fight itself, in particular 1:50 literally takes my breath away every time I replay it. So I guess it's just personal preference, both are good though.
3:00 YES, YES I've been wanting to hear this ever since the ambition trailer released back in October, it's even more glorious to hear the full thing. Thank you so much for uploading these. This game's OST is a masterpiece
Gotta love how that ending charge through the Zettaflare and breaking through it is a 1:1 replica of the Answers cutscene from FFXIV. The subtle fanservice.
Considering that this Bahamut’s Zettaflare has enough power to burn all of Valesthia, this could’ve been really bad had Clive and Joshua not stopped the rampaging Bahamut.
I already got goosebumps at him casting Teraflare. Then when he started casting Zettaflare I'm like "WHAT HAPPENED TO PETA AND EXAFLARE??? THIS GUY SKIPPED TWO SUFFIXES" then Ultima just casually uses Exaflare like it's nothing at all, no charging needed
To be fair it's probably the best ff boss ever at least in terms of sheer spectacle. I'd go as far in terms of spectacle it'd probably the greatest boss of all time in gaming...
Seeing Bahamut casting Zettaflare has got to be one of the most breathtaking moments I have ever experienced in gaming. This whole fight was a masterpiece, from that to Ifrit and the Phoenix becoming one and Bahamut eating the heart of the Mother Crystal. Barnabas is the strongest Dominant and Odin's power is insane, but Bahamut's sheer destructive potential is one of the scariest things in the entire series. The guy was about to nuke a planet.
This has to be one of my favorite boss fights in all gaming. The music and all the effects, the gameplay, the setting, it's all just amazing. I'm so glad I kept myself spoiler free.

Dion Lesage & Bahamut are so majestic, regal, and epic, along with a theme song that perfectly matches. They nailed every Eikon in this game and made Bahamut the legend he is.

The sheer epicness of this game is unrivaled as of now. Many games managed something like this in their own time, but right now, with this generation of videogames; FF16 takes the top spot no contest

So many wonderful parts of this song, but 2:17 is where it goes from amazing to almost literally godly, as if it were a piece by one of the greats meant to inspire fear of / praise god.
i ask myself everyday: WHAT POSSESSED MASAYOSHI SOKEN TO COMPOSE THIS OST? I'M FINDING HARD THAT HUMAN HANDS COULD HAVE COMPOSED SUCH MASTERPIECE in a video i watched, the guy said "while most of composer try to get grammy awards, FF composers try to get to Bach, Beethoven and Vivaldi"
I mean, listen to some of his music from Shadowbringers and Endwalker. He was composing music for this, and those expansions while in the hospital fighting cancer... Dude went to the edge, and came back powered up with his own limit breaks.
Ffxvi incarnation of Bahamut truly made me understand why he his the king of all dragons... shooting megaflare gigaflare teraflare zettaflare like it was just a joke bahamut didn't mess around in this game and the ost truly depicted it.
My guy people who didn’t like this game and reason by saying “some side quests weren’t totally interesting and crafting wasn’t much there” lmao. Like bruh, most of the side quests had cool storylines to follow, the combat is excellent, story is nuts, boss fights are PURE SPECTACLE. Like I couldn’t find anything to hate on this game, anyone saying this game isn’t really FF? The whole point of Final Fantasy is amazing and epic stories that move you, invest you, and have you rooting for the big moments as well as the little ones. This game captivated me start to finish. The awakening of Ifrit alone when Clive accepts who he is? Hating on this game is just bizarre man lol.
Its just the usual discourse that FF fandom has everytime something new releases, bash the newest one, praise the old ones, bash the old ones, praise the new ones, the circle repeats everytime
I've seen so many people who hate this game because of Dion and his lover💀💀Just because they kiss during like 3 seconds and from afar Honestly so much of the discourse is just from annoying people who just do not intend on buying the game at all
Have to say despite not being a traditional FF game in combat, this boss was one of the most epic in the entire series, as crazy as the Supernova in FF7 and general absurdness of FF PS1-era attacks. I prefer FF7' Remake's combat overall, but I wish they'd take a leaf out of this game's over the top scale and animation for attacks and bring it back. That's what made the PS1 entries great, and it's something FF16's spectacle echoes quite well.
Friends!! I heard FFXVI get bombarded by bad scores in first day so after finishing the game I'll sign up in Metacritic and rate it high score if you like the game, could do the same!
Just got through this fight last night and my jaw is still wide open in awe at the whole spectacle. Truly great stuff. And that string section goes absolutely ham out of nowhere.
2:54 is so freaking epic, gives me chills, and I loved this fight in the game. I had no idea how they'd outdo titan, but this fight in space was 12/10.
Other than Leviathan in the DLC, Bahamut felt like I was fighting a living star shooting deadly LASERs at me for the whole fight. As expected from The Bahamut.
After finishing it, i find a bit too flawed, if some critical aspects for it to be GOTY… but i’ll be damned is anything comes close to this fight in any game for a long ass time. That fight was epicness defined, im not sure even the final fight gets me goosebumps like this one. Coming from FF XIV, i was not surprised this team could pull off something of this level. The only thing i can think of that even comes close to this is Wonderful 101’s final fight
@@ericcogarrida9665 only side mission it's just stay the same quality has the rest of FF games it's just average at best but the rest of the game is masterpiece for me
Honestly this was the final boss for me. Everything about it was just awesome. Joshua and Clive teaming up together with each having their own time to shine in separate phases and then joining together in the end. Saving the world from an attack that can burn the world. So damn epic.
This game is right up there with the best FF's I've ever played. This game has every element that makes for a great story. I was shocked at how fast I loved it and playing it a second time you pick up on all the seemingly pointless details. The music fits every situation perfectly and FF FINALLY went back to its dark roots with this one. I think 9 was the last dark FF, some will say 10 was dark but that was more of an impending doom than a dark story.
There's a part in the track that reminds me of European classical music which is incredibly fitting for Prince Dion since his heritage and empire seem to draw inspiration from France.
One on the best boss battle of final fantasy series, even one of the best ever made in video games History. And the ost is absolutely phenomenal, a new final fantasy classic
Then one wonders why he would curse those who criticize this video game. I've played up to this fight so far, I already know the whole game and seen it twice on YT. But now that I'm playing it I admit that they did a job that deserves more praise Especially after FF15 and FF13
After beating my first Playthrough for FF16 I have to say, that I dont know how they did it, but every boss would somehow outdo the last. When I did Bahamut I was like, "How the hell did they top the Titan Fight!?", then even with Bahamut the next big boss blew me away even more. Then the final boss just beutiful!
true, i would have loved a true ifrit v odin fight, but they stIll managed to do a great fight after bahamut, and a great introduction to the final boss
You know what makes this fight so epic? That the two brothers finally reunite and fight together at full power to stop a threat none of them could stop as two Eikons! On top of that, their Eikons are like the two faces of fire: Phoenix embodies fire as life and inspiration while Ifrit embodies fire as rage and destruction. So it makes sense that they can fuse together. Because while people always just see one of the two sides fire is always both life and destruction. It depends on how you use it. And in this fight the brothers used both sides of fire to both destroy a threat and protect people.
While I do gotta say that competition for GOTY this year is HUGE between this, Zelda, a From Software Game (Armored Core) and perhaps Spiderman 2 and Starfield, I have 0 doubt in my mind that THIS is the best soundtrack this year. Can't wait for Soken to lift his trophy up man...
I love how this theme is a direct reference to "classical" music like Mozart and Beethoven. Check out the theme at 0:58 and how it's nearly identical to Beethoven's Piano Sonata No.1 in Fm (ruclips.net/video/o5dL-65mKe0/видео.html), particularly the ascending 3 chord progression. Then, the 3-note theme at 2:28 is identical to the Mozart Symphony 29 in A (ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxyPxTdR34cVMvaCs9CLgizRAQZS96Q_22). One interesting thing to note is how perfectly the theme captures Dion's character. Classical music (especially Mozart) is associated with perfection. Simple, clean, and natural. Then Beethoven comes in and amps it up, so the most common adjective musicians give Beethoven's music is "fiery," but it's constrained within traditional classical form (more or less). Dion is pretty much a perfect knight, as plenty of FF16 characters note...but with plenty of "fire" for obvious reasons. Sure, boss battle music is supposed to be fiery, but the classical parts, especially the oddly playful and elegant parts like the second link above (in major key, no less) stick out like a sore thumb even to the most casual of listeners. Definitely intentional on the composer's part.

Played every ff exept 11 and this going top 3. Story, characters and music where top nutsh SE. Some flaws yeah, every games as that. But when the game decide to go hard it goes the hardest ever seen.
No game gonna top those boss fights for a looooong time.
I’ve played 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 14. Besides 14 I’d say 16 is the best mainline modern FF title.
2:44 - 4:08 Good God Almighty. Musical perfection.
The Final battle Moment
That violin goes harder than any track in the Star Wars franchise.
I say 10/10 because the music, character, battle & story
Reminds me of dancing mad a little bit.
2:28 is where it starts really going not sure why you picked that start point
This was easily the most badass fight I’ve ever experienced
X3
This fight is why this is the best game I've played in years. It's just genuinely fun. Best boss fight in gaming history. Such an incredibly crafted boss fight. I wish more dev teams came up with stuff like this. It's even better in FF Mode too. Still as amazing as the first time I fought him
Congrats soken for his awards at the game awards, you deserve it !
Was super sick, haven't gotten to Odin yet but it's got me worried on what level of head exploding set piece we'll have there.
oh its good but its alot more of a personal fight .
Exactly my thoughts haha This fight is when I say "oh ok, we are back to the good old gods killing final fantasy i know" hahaha
Odin one was dissapointed atleast for me.
Minor spoilers about the Odin fight
It's much less of a spectacle fight than Titan and Bahamut, and focuses more on the personal clash between the characters' beliefs. It's more Clive vs Barnabas than Ifrit vs Odin.
@@MinniMaster spoilers as well
to add to that, it's more mechanically harder than some eikon fights since it lets you play as clive for most of it
Honestly, i love what they did for Ifrit here, he's usually the weaker summon monster, the first one you get and always falls off and gets replaced with Phoenix...
not this time, he's easily one of the most powerful beings in the franchise in his world.
masterpiece

Love the baroque/classical elements in this battle soundtrack. It reflects Dion’s royal background very well. Sounds like something JS Bach would compose.
I said in another video that this song sounds like J.S Bach on steroids lmao
the violins and the harmony during the chorus is top tier
Check it out
I've never played a boss fight so epic and memorable as this one in all my videogaming life! The OST is itself a masterpiece too!
really epic arent ya , more than GOWR I havent tried?
I'm jammin' to this part especially!
The violin feels really familiar!
@@MundusFate it's bonetrousle
I think we all were waiting for this moment, and somehow it surpassed the level of epicness I could ever expect.
We need a loop of this
Gotta love how that ending charge through the Zettaflare and breaking through it is a 1:1 replica of the Answers cutscene from FFXIV. The subtle fanservice.
Terraflare's scene as well
Also reminded me of Dragon Fist from DBZ.
"Subtle"? The entire second ground-based phase of the Bahamut fight is a straight copy of Bahamut's FF14 fight!
@@CaptainFalcoyd Even the shield part to survive Teraflare xD
Considering that this Bahamut’s Zettaflare has enough power to burn all of Valesthia, this could’ve been really bad had Clive and Joshua not stopped the rampaging Bahamut.
Can I just say, not only are these the best boss fights in Final Fantasy history, this is also the best the Eikons have ever looked.
Pulled the Donald Duck
My buddy whose never played an FF game watched me do this boss battle and was completely shocked.
I love gaming experiences like that
To be fair it's probably the best ff boss ever at least in terms of sheer spectacle.

I came here to get a taste on what to vote on the game awards.
I got shivers from the rising action part, I now have to get this game, ironically it might get me back to Final Fantasy.
I had the biggest smile on my face during this fight. Was so cool
This game is what got me back into Final Fantasy myself! I've played all of the OG FF VII and the remake, I played all of FF X and X-2, played all 3 Final Fantasy XIII games - hell, my proudest achievement is beating all of Final Fantasy XV without a single death _on my first attempt!_ I am so hyped to get up to this point, 'cause I just finished off Kupka for the first time and am now moving onto his Eikon!
I wanted to scream this fight made me so hype. I was literally jumping out of my seat while Clive/Joshua were chasing Bahamut. And then when they stopped the Zettaflare I was going crazy. This is the most insane shit i've ever seen in my life.
I actually put my controller down for like 10 minutes after this entire fight sequence. I was blown away and dumbfounded.
I think a good few people can echo this
This game is what Asura's wrath wanted to be as a full package, an awesome rollercoater ride with memorable characters with amazing combat and spectacles
Haven't finished the game but im super enthralled to see the Odin boss fight and the final boss
Asura wrath had great characters and story but the gameplay was really bad. Hopefully someday it will get a remake that's makes the game justice
@@joeld5338 yeah, it definitely deserves another chance

Dion Lesage & Bahamut are so majestic, regal, and epic, along with a theme song that perfectly matches.
They nailed every Eikon in this game and made Bahamut the legend he is.

Crazy this 70$ soundtrack came with a free game attached
one of the best fights in video game history
This whole part was amazing i cant lie joshua and clive reunited made me cry like a baby
Whoever had a hand in the music and doing these fights (like coordinating then and whatnot) need a goddamn raise. The spectacle of it is just jaw dropping. I just got past this fight and this one and when you first get the limit break with Clive are my 2 favorite moments so far. This game is just amazing
Each day, Soken’s fucking madness just adds up until one day he will surpass god of music
Thank the dmc 5 combat director for gameplay
Dude after you "accept the truth" I felt like they couldn't top that but God damn this fight blew me tf away I was damn near crying at how epic this was
The sheer epicness of this game is unrivaled as of now.
Many games managed something like this in their own time, but right now, with this generation of videogames; FF16 takes the top spot no contest

One of the most epic boss fights I’ve ever played in my life
This violon is orgasmic I swear.
This game starts hard, and every fight just keeps getting better and better !
At first with the Bahamut fight I thought it was great but not as epic as the Titan Lost one.
Then they pull this out of their sleeve and I completely lost my mind.
One word for this game. Masterpiece. There is no denying it. Best ost and fights across all the games i have ever played.
Favorite boss and theme thats over the top.
your most favorite boss and ost?

This track perfectly encapsulates the fall of a prince and his empire. Especially the beginning. What a beautiful track my god
As much as I love Kain and Estinian, Dion became my Favorite Dragoon in the series, him being Bahamut is just icing on the cake.
So many wonderful parts of this song, but 2:17 is where it goes from amazing to almost literally godly, as if it were a piece by one of the greats meant to inspire fear of / praise god.
Reminder that Soken not only worked on the soundtrack of FFXIV but also on Mario Hoops 3-on-3. There never was a reason to doubt this man
I'm sorry he worked on what now?
Threeeee onnn threeeeee eeeeee
i ask myself everyday: WHAT POSSESSED MASAYOSHI SOKEN TO COMPOSE THIS OST? I'M FINDING HARD THAT HUMAN HANDS COULD HAVE COMPOSED SUCH MASTERPIECE
in a video i watched, the guy said "while most of composer try to get grammy awards, FF composers try to get to Bach, Beethoven and Vivaldi"
I mean, listen to some of his music from Shadowbringers and Endwalker. He was composing music for this, and those expansions while in the hospital fighting cancer... Dude went to the edge, and came back powered up with his own limit breaks.
This whole fight was god tier to me. Seeing powerful eikons fight to the death while having a masterpiece of a soundtrack? FF16 is such a good game
this might be the single best FF track ever made
Ffxvi incarnation of Bahamut truly made me understand why he his the king of all dragons... shooting megaflare gigaflare teraflare zettaflare like it was just a joke bahamut didn't mess around in this game and the ost truly depicted it.
I was playing this super loud and my neighbor came over to complain. We're both fused now as one Eikon, send help.
Lol 😂
I like the side quest where the dad and son got mauled by a wolf.
on top of that, the side quests are literally optional, you don't have to do them
I've seen so many people who hate this game because of Dion and his lover💀💀Just because they kiss during like 3 seconds and from afar
Honestly so much of the discourse is just from annoying people who just do not intend on buying the game at all
@@hoya8968 and thats sad as hell since Dion is like one of the major/best things to come out of this game 😔
I love the sad tones at the start of the piece , fits the situation and Deon´s character so well, specially at this moment in the game
i've played ff7, ff13, and ff15, but it's safe to say that ff16 is the best final fantasy EVER
Friends!! I heard FFXVI get bombarded by bad scores in first day
so after finishing the game I'll sign up in Metacritic and rate it high score
if you like the game, could do the same!
Pin this 8-)
Just got through this fight last night and my jaw is still wide open in awe at the whole spectacle. Truly great stuff. And that string section goes absolutely ham out of nowhere.
This fight is single handedly the greatest thing my eyes have ever witnessed in a video game.
The violin with the chanting in the background is instant chills what an amazing game
2:54 is so freaking epic, gives me chills, and I loved this fight in the game. I had no idea how they'd outdo titan, but this fight in space was 12/10.
Looks like the strike freedom gundam, and Bahamut uses the dragoon system lol
This game is the reason i got a PS5..... As an all life FF Fan, i cam say this game is now in my top 5
Dions rage... his heartache... i felt all of it
Posting this before the 2023 VGAs. Masayoshi Soken will win best score and music.
And he did
1:38 - 1:48 Don’t know why but that little bit right there…it’s fucking beautiful. Need more music that sounds like that part in a playlist
Other than Leviathan in the DLC, Bahamut felt like I was fighting a living star shooting deadly LASERs at me for the whole fight. As expected from The Bahamut.
I'll be mad if this doesn't become game of the year.
If not at least soundtrack of the year
First thing we could do is rating it high in some review sites like metacritic
After finishing it, i find a bit too flawed, if some critical aspects for it to be GOTY… but i’ll be damned is anything comes close to this fight in any game for a long ass time. That fight was epicness defined, im not sure even the final fight gets me goosebumps like this one. Coming from FF XIV, i was not surprised this team could pull off something of this level.
The only thing i can think of that even comes close to this is Wonderful 101’s final fight

@@ericcogarrida9665 only side mission it's just stay the same quality has the rest of FF games it's just average at best but the rest of the game is masterpiece for me
Clive: turns out the world isn't flat.
Honestly this was the final boss for me. Everything about it was just awesome. Joshua and Clive teaming up together with each having their own time to shine in separate phases and then joining together in the end. Saving the world from an attack that can burn the world. So damn epic.
Given that they subtitled an empowered Titan as "Titan Lost", there was a missed opportunity to label Ifrit Risen's Opponent as "Bahamut Fury."
This will probably stand third among my favorite Boss Themes tbh.
One Winged Angel and Dancing Mad are just really hard to top.
One on the best boss battle of final fantasy series, even one of the best ever made in video games History.
And the ost is absolutely phenomenal, a new final fantasy classic
Ifrit's, Phoenix's and Bahamut's themes are unbelievably good
Then one wonders why he would curse those who criticize this video game.
@@onegloba2425 Yea I agree with the Odin fight, it was still cool as shit, just not what we thought it would be.
I also wanna add Hi-Fi Rush on this list as well
It’s just an insanely fun action game timed to the music

I'm so happy that now even more players can experience this boss fight and this hole game on PC 🎉❤
The official most expensive sequence in a video game will probably remain a mistery, but Bahamut vs Risen Ifrit in space could be up there.
