ALSO, 1) These trucks are meant for high speed off-roading, not towing. The springs are bouncy and light for that reason. It is going to squat if you tow heavy things or put a great deal of weight in the bed. That is the way it was designed. If you want to tow heavy, buy an F150 or put bags/Timbrens on your Raptor. 2) All leaf springs squeak after dirt and other debris gets in the leaf pack. This isn't a Raptor issue. Pressure wash them, and they will be fine until you get crap in there again. 3) If you mod it, expect Check Engine Lights, and Limp Mode at some point. Not every day. Not all the time, but it is probably going to happen. That is the price for playing around. 4) If you don't like the sound of the V6, you are welcome to not buy one. We don't want to hear your bitching. 5) A CAI (cold air intake) does not give you an appreciable HP increase. Ford knows what they are doing. You are more likely to get a CEL than any significant power change. 6) The factory tires will last as long as your lead foot will let them. Drive as you would like them to last. If they don't last, you are driving like you don't want them to last. 7) The SYNC system auto updates must be turned off for it to stop bugging you. 8) If you start the update via WiFi it will likely never finish. Take it to the dealer and let them flash it. You can also do the update via USB if you take the time to read the instructions. 9) There are drains for the sunroof. Clean them out from time to time to keep your interior dry. 10) The transmission shifts like a dump truck because it is a performance oriented vehicle that adapts to your driving style. If you take it to the dealer they can reset it so that it goes back to the soft defaults. Performance people like hard firm shifts. They actually pay extra for it.

Own a 2020 Gen 2 Raptor. I live in Kuwait, and *absolutely abuse it* every winter. Currently sitting at 86k (kilometers not miles, its 53k miles atm. Apologies to my American brothers.) It rides fantastic. The amount of jumps, woops, and powerslides it ate up at 86-95 mph, and not one time did I get a check engine light nor did I ever have to rebuild my shocks, and it drives *flawlessly* on the road. Ford knocked it out of the park with this truck.

These trucks just needs a little more love than a usual truck does. My sunroof. Keep it lubed twice a year haven’t had an issue. 2018 raptor. Cam phasers did fail. Dealer changed all 4 and put in 3 tensioners. Told me to change oil at 5 k to avoid that again. So far so good. Shifting is solved with a tune. Does not void warranty. It’s a great truck but it does need attention. You need make sure the oil is always at the right level. Clean the maf sensors once a year. Truck is loving me I’m loving her. 46k and going strong.
Yes you can retrofit the rgb lighting. Have to replace all the lights... doors- dash- floor board- under seats- cup holders. Then program the bcm. I did it in my 18 Lariat!
Definitely listen for cam phaser issues if you’re buying used. I have a ‘17 Raptor with 40k miles on it now. I bought it new ($1,000 below sticker - it just took 3 months of searching dealerships nationwide to find one that wouldn’t charge the stupid markup) and although I love it, I have had issues. A fuel injector failed, which allowed so much unburned fuel through the exhaust and out the tailpipes that I can’t believe it only left me stranded and didn’t go up in flames. I had cam phaser issues that required a major repair. I noticed the cam phaser “rattle” at about 20,000 miles but it got worse worse over time until the check engine light came on at 36,000 miles and the dealership finally admitted there was an issue. On more than one occasion , the doors have failed to close when the temperature dropped below 20 degrees Fahrenheit- even after the door recall repair was performed by dealership. When that happens, I have to let the truck run for 15 minutes to warm it up before the doors will close. The ambient lighting sometimes randomly changes the color of some bulbs - but not all bulbs - on its own. The auto-up power driver side window doesn’t always function, and the truck sometimes backfires after refueling (and I’m not overfilling the tank or topping it off.) Definitely frustrating to have so many issues with a $60,000+ vehicle with only 40,000 miles on it.

You had me at plastic oil pan and again on the "improved" aluminum oil pan. I guess at least in the Raptor there's a decent skid plate below either of these sub-par oil pan materials to protect them but damn ... talk about saving a few bucks on a $70k+ truck!
Plastic can be better than steel. Example ar15 p mags are made out of plastic you can run them over with a truck they still work perfectly. Run a steel mag over and its finished. Not saying ford is good plastic just saying plastic can be as good or better in certain circumstances.

Wow, that was lucky on more than one count! Lucky that the Raptor didn't catch on fire at home and burn the house down and lucky that the dealer gave him a new 2019 replacement. Trying to fight the insurance company and the dealer on the fire that burns the house down would be a nightmare.
I got my 2018 raptor just 1 k under msrp. I have one of the first metal oil pan. It was built in late april. They also changed the coolant color as they went to a different coolant in 2018.
Ok people, I rented a 2018 Raptor with 20k miles on it and it was extremely comfortable, sexy as fuck looking, headlights are awesome, wouldn’t get stuck in the sand. Overall truck is awesome and better then any other f150. Only complaint is the turbo lag when you step on the gas pedal, unlike the 2014 V8 with no turbo lag. And brakes suck.
I live in Cali and I just got my new Raptor with zero mark up. If I would have went an hour down the road I would have paid 20-30k more for the same truck. I got mine at a small dealership compared to a much bigger dealership down the road. I did have to be patient and wait till they got one that I wanted but it was worth the 20-30k in price. Most dealerships do it with most "specialty" vehicles. Salesman told me its a "fair market value" or something like that. Basically a way to charge more for the willing. Happy hinting.
Great truck, I have two of them, But Ford you should have address and rectified the plastic oil pan leak in all 2017 Raptors. Many Raptor owners are still dealing with this mess.
Nice video. I’m not a Raptor owner, just a fan. I’m not a fan of the graphic above the real wheel. That would be one of the first things I would mod. I subscribed
Hahaha I laughed when he said Benning and Olsen... People be making up brands on the go when they are filming. Not to mention Ricardo seats. It's made by hand by Ricardo Ford.
Most dealerships are terrible with sales. I had good luck with brondes ford in maumee ohio. It is about 110 miles from me. I answered some questions forwarded some info before going. Went there, sales guy gave me the keys to test drive while he finished with current customer. Caught me off guard I barely walked in and he asked if I was the one who inquired about the f150... Usually you walk in wait a bit. Go sit down get a few questions. I also got delivery of my truck included as last minute my backup driver to take me had canceled. I was given a certificate for free $50 ham near there, unfortunately they'd closed. They'd offered to have it delivered when my truck would be. I'm not crazy about buying new vehicles or going to dealerships since they often don't do good for sales or even maintenance, but I may drive back there again... I believe they were awarded by ford recently for their sales/service.
I work at a high volume dealership in missouri and we ship quite a few raptors to callifornia and lots of other states due to this markup trend. its cheaper for people to buy one from us and either ship it or fly out and drive it home.
you would think with a truck that expensive you wouldn't have issuses you would think the manufacture would have all these issues resolves tell those folks to stop goin to work drunk and high i was goin to buy one, but since their work force are under the influence ill wait till they sober up.

2021’s are having teething issues as well. Uneven tailpipes, loose transmission cooler lines that leak, flares not installed properly, miscellaneous bolts and parts sitting inside the cab, fuses not seated, incorrect engine shroud installed on the assembly line, coolant lines rubbing on crankshaft pulley, misaligned front bumpers, etc.
Brian Velte its a high performance vehicle, that’s the risk you take, if that’s not for you, go get a toyota. Any high end car with a ton of power will have the risk of having problems. People think they can get an exotic vehicle and have it last as long as a Toyota Camry, its just not gunna happen guy.
Jared Champagne haha here you go again with the Toyota comparison what a joke you are. I’m going to laugh when you try and play with a supercharged 5.7 Tundra and get smoked and wonder how your beloved Raptor got its ass handed to it haha
94turbotoy you’re trying to compare a modified tundra to a stock raptor, just shows how much of a fool you really are. Anything can beat anything with modifications added, that’s just dumb and pointless to talk about, it still doesn’t put that Camry with a bed into any category even close to a raptor, a tundra is just a pickup with some logos and AT Tires, nothing more
In northern CA. All trucks are marked up 20k new. Used with 15k miles they sell for close to original MSRP. Screw that. I found them in the Midwest in June, 1 year old 20k miles, $58k out the door. Cost me 1,200 to fly, stay the night, and drive back. Still under 60k. Compare to exact same year and 802A upgrades in nor Cal, 54k miles $64k miles. I should start a import business and sell them out curb side at the Ford dealers in Nor CA and make 10k on each truck LMFAO!
@@Drohead20 You owe sales tax in the state you return to and register it in. I never paid or registered it in MO, just got dealer plates and drove it back. The dealer had sold multiple vehicles, the same way before. As a matter of fact, a guy was picking up a Mustang to take back to FL that same morning. These dealers will pick you up at the airport.
There is so much you missed in this video. No mention of Cam phaser, IWE check valve, pulleys. There is also a ton you got wrong man. The plastic oil pan itself does not leak. The plastic oil plug leaks because it’s supposed to be replaced every other oil change. But dealers don’t do it and the seals on the plug fail. I had a 17 and now have a 2020 and offroad the shit out of both and there is so much more I would put on this list.
I want a raptor so bad but don't think I could ever actually bring myself to buy one. For Ford built maintenance alone. The service writer at my honda dealer said he used to work for Ford and said they require 4x as much maintenance in comparison.
Thx for the video and researching info. If you like the gen2 raptor then this is the year to buy since ford had refined most of the kinks. The new gen of raptor is in the work but I won’t be buying Ford gen1 of anything. Well, that also hold truth to most automobile brands
Your kinda wrong sir , the Gen 1 Raptor is more reliable than the Gen 2 in my opinion , Gen 2 may look nice and better specs but definitely not more reliable

interesting that here in the EU..people usually refer to premium fuel as 100 octane...the non-led 95..is regular here...really interesting - I bet for these turbo if you would use 100 octane premium with additives to clean and support the engine..you would be amazed of the performance
I’ll suscribe but just so you know that’s is rather annoying to leave all the price info just to make another video and that goes to all of the youtubers that talk about something and never disclose the price info. Specially repairs costs. Which is a very important info when it comes to buy a new or used vehicle. Thanks for the video.
Ooooh man really a plastic Oil Pan. Well I’m glad I came across this vid I’m thinking about either ones of these or a Tundra. I guess I’ll just keep my 2011 CVPI a couple more years lol
Tyler Allen theres a 1/4 inch steel skid plate underneath the the oil pan, regular oil pans rot out and are a pain in the ass to change when they do, dont let an oil pan make you get a gay ass truck over the most badass one on the market.
If youre even considering a Toyota Tundra, the raptor is not for you, the tundra is a family mans camry with a pickup bed and a raptor is a high performance niche vehicle for enthusiasts with the boundaries of truck performance being pushed to the edge, do your research before you buy things. Plastic can be better than steel. Example ar15 p mags are made out of plastic you can run them over with a truck they still work perfectly. Run a steel mag over and its finished. Not saying ford is good plastic just saying plastic can be as good or better in certain circumstances.
Come to Texas or Oklahoma and buy a new one, they are under $60,000 all day long for a new 2020!
kylecagle29 where are you looking I’m in Texas and I can’t find any
Full option ??
60 is still a lot why not 50
Micky Kittl 801a , no 802a goes for 60k new. ever.
@@johnrios329, Southwest Ford in Weatherford has (3)2019 (NEW) 802a Raptor trucks (2 Blue, 1 Silver all with graphics) with no dealer markup for just under $70K
Enjoy your new truck. Looks awesome!
T lff
Have the 2019.. 20k miles and already exchanged both live valve shocks. Also got the damn park brake assist message recently. Pissed.
You bought an American made and American brand vehicle. What did you expect?

Very good information, I own 2017 Raptor and 2019 Tundra Trd Pro and i think of buying the 2020 raptor but after watching this i think i will stick with my 2017 raptor
Dear God what do you do for a living and if you have no children will you adopt me?
didnt know they came with plastic oil pans. I will be looking at a 17-18 next year when my silverado lease is up. Basically look out for the oil pan, engine noise, buy one without a sunroof, lol, and 360 camera. Gotcha !
A guy I know had an 18 that had lifter tick, dealer said the head had rust in it.. They said they "fixed it" then it had an engine fire, he told them to keep the truck and they gave him a 19
Wow, that was lucky on more than one count!
They also changed the coolant color as they went to a different coolant in 2018.
their prices drop big time after a year or so. looking at a few in the 40s with lower miles. i think now is a good time to buy.
Even the previous generation had issues with the moon roof due to plastic parts.
Some things never change at Ford
I live in Cali and I just got my new Raptor with zero mark up. If I would have went an hour down the road I would have paid 20-30k more for the same truck. I got mine at a small dealership compared to a much bigger dealership down the road. I did have to be patient and wait till they got one that I wanted but it was worth the 20-30k in price. Most dealerships do it with most "specialty" vehicles. Salesman told me its a "fair market value" or something like that. Basically a way to charge more for the willing. Happy hinting.
Every time I try to buy a car at dealer ship I get really pissed off with those guys
binh truong lmaooo
I’m with you bro
Supply and demand buddy...I agree picking up a used one saves money...be sure it's not been beat all to pieces for sure!
Nothing to DRAMASTIC
Daniel A the wait was was worth the wait! So many great one liners here. “Ford pulled a douche bag move “
Thanks man. Your review does help me in purchasing 2020 or 2019 Raptor.
Thumbs Up.
Pamoranic sun roof🤣
Great truck, I have two of them, But Ford you should have address
and rectified the plastic oil pan leak in all 2017 Raptors. Many Raptor owners
are still dealing with this mess.
could you install a Alum from later year?
@@mmm4638 I believe you can. I got ford to fix the oil leak.

Nice video. I’m not a Raptor owner, just a fan. I’m not a fan of the graphic above the real wheel. That would be one of the first things I would mod. I subscribed
its not benning ohlsen sterio ... its Bang and Olufsen
Hahaha I laughed when he said Benning and Olsen... People be making up brands on the go when they are filming. Not to mention Ricardo seats. It's made by hand by Ricardo Ford.
My man shat his pants before he made this video.
Panmoranic.

Welp there goes my idea of towing heavy things behind it
Wait was worth the wait
Recardo seats
Dramastic
Pamoranic sunroof
Benning and Olson stereo!
Awesome review dude! I learnt something about my favorite truck today. Thanks 🙏
Same here in Canada! 35K mark up!
Dramastic is my new word. Love it.
Ty for the vid went and buy a 2017 pre-owned raptor I loved it Best Buy and wait ever.
I work at a high volume dealership in missouri and we ship quite a few raptors to callifornia and lots of other states due to this markup trend. its cheaper for people to buy one from us and either ship it or fly out and drive it home.
I like the Ford and I'll fix the common issues so I won't have to worry about it.
you would think with a truck that expensive you wouldn't have issuses you would think the manufacture would have all these issues resolves tell those folks to stop goin to work drunk and high i was goin to buy one, but since their work force are under the influence ill wait till they sober up.
I’ll stick with my 1st gen raptor v8 power
Have u had any losing voltage to the ecu on ur 1st gen I have a 2010 6.2
bmw s1krr no not really I’m just have like miner wear an break like right know my back window and my side mirror heatin don’t work an also I broke my sunroof lol

Thank you for a great review. A plastic oil pan - WTF? Good to know what to look out for.
2020 trd pro owner here. No issues yet
Since day one love the 2020 Raptor. The nicest truck Ive ever owned. Thanks for sharing.
how long have you had it and is there anything wrong with it? thinking of getting one myself
100% correct. I have the sunroof and oil leak. Now what ?
Really good review. Comprehensive enough and well put together . Thank you
2021’s are having teething issues as well. Uneven tailpipes, loose transmission cooler lines that leak, flares not installed properly, miscellaneous bolts and parts sitting inside the cab, fuses not seated, incorrect engine shroud installed on the assembly line, coolant lines rubbing on crankshaft pulley, misaligned front bumpers, etc.
That’s Ford for ya
CD driver ... hahahahaha
He messes up so many words it just ain't funny anymore.
That was a very good review but to suggest listening for motor problems on a $75,000 truck is pretty bad.
Relax trucks are ment for fun and games not for world dominating.
94turbotoy you’re trying to compare a modified tundra to a stock raptor, just shows how much of a fool you really are. Anything can beat anything with modifications added, that’s just dumb and pointless to talk about, it still doesn’t put that Camry with a bed into any category even close to a raptor, a tundra is just a pickup with some logos and AT Tires, nothing more
Ok
In northern CA. All trucks are marked up 20k new. Used with 15k miles they sell for close to original MSRP. Screw that. I found them in the Midwest in June, 1 year old 20k miles, $58k out the door. Cost me 1,200 to fly, stay the night, and drive back. Still under 60k.
Compare to exact same year and 802A upgrades in nor Cal, 54k miles $64k miles.
I should start a import business and sell them out curb side at the Ford dealers in Nor CA and make 10k on each truck LMFAO!
David Bianchini lol. How does that work? Do you only pay sales tax to the dmv in CA? Or do you lay to out of state dealer and ca?
@@Drohead20 You owe sales tax in the state you return to and register it in. I never paid or registered it in MO, just got dealer plates and drove it back. The dealer had sold multiple vehicles, the same way before. As a matter of fact, a guy was picking up a Mustang to take back to FL that same morning. These dealers will pick you up at the airport.
Slightly less knock 93 is for safety the knock sensor limits the power to keep it from going bang
"Ricardo seats" awesome
Recaro Seat*
The seats name is Ricardo. He's a cool guy not a great seat, but that's because of his drug problem.
Gen two's have been loaded with issue's right off the line, I'll keep my Gen1 unless the Gen 3 looks good and has a V-8.
Ed Kennedy gen three is probably going to be a hybrid or all electric
That would be cool in 2010 when large combustion was "cool".
Let's see an all electric Raptor!!
Im also in the bay area and just picked up a 2018 magnetic blue raptor!
Not bitching about the exhaust but in mine I did turn off the fake exhaust noise from the speakers.
The only issue here is it doesnt have the V8 engine in it lol. . Till they bring it back im passing and waiting on this ram trx 😈
I want a raptor so bad but don't think I could ever actually bring myself to buy one. For Ford built maintenance alone. The service writer at my honda dealer said he used to work for Ford and said they require 4x as much maintenance in comparison.
And as for 2020 raptor, they are lighter than the previous “500 lbs”.
The Raptor looks good in white w/black trim
Thx for the video and researching info. If you like the gen2 raptor then this is the year to buy since ford had refined most of the kinks. The new gen of raptor is in the work but I won’t be buying Ford gen1 of anything. Well, that also hold truth to most automobile brands
Your kinda wrong sir , the Gen 1 Raptor is more reliable than the Gen 2 in my opinion , Gen 2 may look nice and better specs but definitely not more reliable
Hey I love your Instagram shots. Didn't realize that was you until today. :-) What dash cam is that mounted on your windshield? And do you use it for any of your videos? Thanks.
interesting that here in the EU..people usually refer to premium fuel as 100 octane...the non-led 95..is regular here...really interesting - I bet for these turbo if you would use 100 octane premium with additives to clean and support the engine..you would be amazed of the performance
Nou, we have EVAP system to make up for and 100oct with EVAP will burn up the engine. Lesson learned with GSXR 1000
Not at Sunrise ford in Fontana....they are blowing those things out.....
The dodges and Chrysler 300 had the same problems with sunroof
I’ll suscribe but just so you know that’s is rather annoying to leave all the price info just to make another video and that goes to all of the youtubers that talk about something and never disclose the price info.
Specially repairs costs.
Which is a very important info when it comes to buy a new or used vehicle.
Thanks for the video.
Subscribed; great video!
You’re obviously not in the market for a raptor.
Jared Champagne Jared you are a moron...Steel oil pans rust out? You’re a fucking fool so let’s add a plastic oil pan that shatters when hit lol fucking moron
The next gen Tundra is coming for 2021.
@@jaredchampagne2752The Tundra unlike the raptor has actually finished Baja1000 events in the stock class. The only raptor to complete 1 baja 1000 was in 2017 and still finished behind a Landcruiser with 52 seconds to spare before it could have been disqualified. Cut the bullshit you moron. You have no clue about any of these trucks.
Looks like Livermore Ford @ beginning. That’s where I bought my F-150 ... good experience! 👍🏻
i was goin to buy one but after about 90% of negative comment on this truck its a shame. ill just wait and choose another product to bad they don't fix those problems very nice truck but to much money to be buying headaches
Was about to hit subscribe but saw you have no new content, bro! I wanted to see what new mods or thoughts on the Raptor by now!

You forgot to mention the wireless charger,
Your right. I ordered a 2020 Tundra😜
Phillip Joy I’ve been looking into both lol
Smart!!
If you live in Washington Beadlocks are illegal to use on the Highway.
Solid review 😊
lol "I could live without the off road button"... because I bought an off road truck and have no intentions of going off road with it
If you go to a dealer and they have a mark up on the car you walk away. Regardless good dealership don’t mark the prices over sticker.
I watched this. As soon as i was done i ordered a Raptor 😂 😊
I guarantee if you had one and wanted to trade it, and you would want more than wholesale value. You would want every cent of market value.
I have a 18 and it does have the hotspot wifi and the cd drive aswell..
The only thing bad about owning a Raptor is you have to watch out for cops planting drugs so they can seize it, because they are jealous. Happened to me.
"nothing too dramastic"
I was reading this comment as he said it. 🤣
I have a 2018 Raptor under 69k. So Far (under extended warranty):
-3 CamPhasers
-1 Oil Pan
-New valve covers (the factory had put normal F150 Covers on)
-3 APIM Modules (Bluetooth kept failing)
-CV replacements
And I don't offroad. Lol
Ford isn't what it used to be..
How the heck do you have 3 cam phasers. Can you video document this?
I’m at 55k and never once had any problems still.
Do you regularly check your oil levels? I noticed after an oil change. After 3k miles my levels are low and need to add a bit.
@Powerlinx. Only way I knew was at startup it would sound like tractor for the first 2-3 seconds. This will be my 2nd replacement (so 3rd one in the engine). Bizarre. I do all my oil changes on the dot with full synthetic Mobil1 and oem filters.
I can't wait to see ford. Looking at rams head lights. In real veiw mirror Rebel. And Dakota Rebel. Will be no 1 buying any thing but dodge.
